Where is the "search discussions box"?

I would like to search the discussions base before posting a new inquiry. I remember a search box that was in the upper right of the area but I don't seem to be able to find it now?
NEPA

You currently can't from within the Discussions. Until that feature is restored, go to Google and perform an advanced search with discussions.apple.com as the site.

  • Where is the "search" field box?

I want to search various discussion forums, but the "search" box is gone. Is this a temporary glitch? Discussion forums are fairly useless if one cannot search them.

  • Where is the search!?!

Where is the search option now? Not the search at the top of the page, but to search within a specific forum?

  • Irony: Why can't Safari render the Search Forum box on this page correctly?

I've tried loading the Apple Discussions page on several different Macs, and the Search Forum box is never rendered correctly. It looks like there is a search box inside a box, and looks ugly.
It looks more normal on Firefox.

    HI,
Despite the aesthetics, it has no adverse effect on search results. The forum is supported by Jive software, not Apple.

It may have no adverse effect on the search results, but it gives a poor impression and ultimately reflects badly on Apple and their Safari web browser... especially when other web browsers manage to render the page perfectly well.
That the forum is powered by 3rd-party software is hardly mitigation and, if anything, only reinforces the irony mentioned by the original poster.

  • The "Search" function box doesn't find things that are there! Why?!

The "Search" function box doesn't find things that are there! Why? Eg: It doesnt show all my Sent and Received emails, but it will find an email that I half wrote and deleted. Unsure why or how to explain more fully.
I also don't understand if I type in "James email" or "J" into the search box and all the J / James stuff appears but it doesn't show the emails I know have been sent and I know are somewhere because I rang "James" up to check, but the search box shows random thing I am NOT looking for, even if I type in fully what I am looking for and test it by typing in full titles of things.
It also doesn't store all my sent emails in "Sent" box. Confused! I'm not sure if the "Search" box just isn't up to the job or if it is broken / i'm doing something wrong? Maybe the email address I use isn't set up properly?

This can happen sometimes if the cache is not cleared correctly when items are not deleted from your device.
The only solution to this is to do a restore to clean out the cache file.

  • Where is my Search Discussion Field?

    Hi guys,
Sorry if I am not at the right place to ask this, but I am really lost. I can't search anything in the Discussions: the Search Discussions Field seems to have disappeared.
I feel like a lost soul...
    Keep up the good work,
    RTP

    You're Welcome Roger!
I seldom navigate to the Discussions Home Page, so I probably would not have seen the announcement either!
I was made aware of it here, in Feedback.
I certainly hope it is reinstated soon!
And Thank You, for extending the courtesy, of awarding in  Discussions, as this is not a requirement, nor mandatory, but is much appreciated!

  • Where is the Search Function in the Forums?

Where has the search function gone from the forums? I have been using it frequently lately because I am setting up a Powerbook 1.5 g4 with FCP 5.1.4 and it is the best way to find answers for "legacy systems" such as mine.

That search is DIFFERENT? Basic SUPPORT search?
    Son of a...
    Sorry.

  • Where is the search button for these discussions?

i feel like an idiot, but i can't figure out how to search this forum. i know i've done it before, but it seems like the site has changed. if i do a search up in the top right hand corner with the spotlight icon, it only gives me 'support' documents, not 'discussion' documents which is what i want. i know it must be something obvious that i'm missing.....

No probs, I missed it at first as well.
One of the moderators here (Nathan C.) had a good idea to use in the interim:
adding "site:discussions.apple.com" minus the quotes to a search string in Google does the same to limit the search as using advanced search.
Hope you don't mind me quoting you Nathan...

  • Where is the search dialog

Currently I'm trying to implement a repository manager and enable search function. Where can I find the search dialog in EP? I cann't find it in Content Administration - KM Content or System Configuration - Knowledge Management. Is it a must to install TREX for search? Thanks

    hi Ray,
To configure the standard search dialog box, choose Content Management -> User Interface -> Search -> Default Search Dialog Box. Yes, It is a must to install TREX to search contents in repository.

  • Where's the search bar in itunes store

Trying to search for songs to download but can't find a search box!  Can anyone help?

I just resolved this issue by doing the following (Please read the entire post before performing):
    Quit iTunes
Open Finder and click Go > Go to Folder... (or press Shift-Command-G)
Type the following (or copy and paste) and press return:
    ~/Music/iTunes
Move the file "iTunes Library.itl" to Trash. DO NOT empty Trash yet (because if this does not resolve the issue, you will want to put this back)
Relaunch iTunes and see if you now have the top bar in iTunes, including the search bar in the top-left.
NOTE: Removing the iTunes Library.itl file can cause you to lose Playlists, and even cause your music on disk to be unrecognized. It is highly recommended that you back up with Time Machine before performing this task.
If you know where your music is on disk (most likely still somewhere withing that iTunes folder, possibly just in iTunes Music instead of iTunes Media) you can still drag this music back into iTunes for it to reorganize and recognize the music. There is not much you can do about Playlists other than manually recreating them or quitting iTunes and putting back the iTunes Library.itl file.
