Where is the "search" feature in ibook?  How do I create a vocabulary list of words and technical terms?

Is there a "search" feature in iBook on my ipad; and how can I create a "vocalbulary List" of terms or words while reading or studying with ipad?

Tap the page of the iBook then tap the magnifying glass for the search feature. Use Notes for your vocabulary list.

  • HT201365 Where is the search feature on iOS 7?

can't find the search feature on iPad iOS 7.

Go to the home screen and swipe down on the center of the screen and a search box will open at the top.

  • Where did the search feature go in iOS7? Search the device as well as select search to web or Wikipedia.

After installing iOS7 on my iPhone 5 and iPad Mini there is no Search Function for info on the device and the option to search the Web or Wikipedia. Where did this useful search feature go. It would list every contact, calendar entry, email containing the search term. Now that first page / panel is gone. Help!

Swipe down from middle of home screen. Not the top or you open up the daily reminder

  • Where is the search feature?

isnt there search feature on ipods? its not on mine, when u scroll really fast the letter pops up for each song, but there is no search. so does it really exist, or is just something Steve Jobs said cuse he wanted to mess with people?

Unless your iPod is one of the recently released Late 2006 30GB or 80GB iPods, you don't have the search function. It was not added to existing devices in the recent update. It may or may not be added in some future software update but there's no official word on that

  • How do I get the search feature when I right click?

I just recently ran an update. Now I do not have the "search" feature when I right click. I used this extensively, and would really like the option back. I had to uninstall some things when I ran the update, because I didn't want the search engine or toolbar that automatically installed with the update. How do I get my right click search feature back?

The problem is that I've been able to do it in the past. I've been able to select any word and right click a search. Ever since I upgraded it, it's all messed up. I can't right click search, and I keep getting these stupid "You've won" websites popping up. Any suggestions on undoing the upgrade, and going back to the way things were?

  • How do you get the search feature on the ipod 30gb ?

for some reason, my ipod 30gb does not have the search feature that i have seen on other ipods
    hp dv6000   Windows XP

Interesting, I don't have such a feature, and I don't think that there is one. However I could be mistaken. Was the iPod connected to something, like a dock/stereo? Software for the iPods would probably have that feature if anything. I have the latest version, and yet, no search feature. I have a 60GB video iPod.

What system and iPhoto version are you running?
If your're using iPhoto 9 or later  Command (right) - click on the photo in the search window and select Show Event in the Contextual menu.
That will take you to the event where the photo is.

Are you searching for file names or content?  If it's the latter dDownload and run Find Any File to search for the same file names.
FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages. If there are files with those file names on the hard drive FAF will find them.
In any case reindex the HD for Spotlight according to this Apple document: Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes - Apple Support

  • Can i disable the Search feature in Reader?

I need to disable the Search feature to have more control when administering a students test.  Can this be done?

Why do you want to disable search? If you want to cripple the pdf and do not care how it looks, you can use Photoshop to rasterize the pdf (it will be huge in size) or use Illustrator to outline the text (but the text will have issues). I cannot fathom disabling search. Even if outlined or rasterized there are tool to allow people to use OCR to put the text back in.

Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick.  First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it.  Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy...  When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything...  Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

  • Is the search feature no longer working?

I have been trying to search the KBase for answers to posters questions but no matter what text I type in I simply get sent to a page that asks me to select a country, when I do it simply takes me to the main forum page. The same thing happens on the main forum page also. No matter what you do it won't work. If you are in a specific forum and use the search feature it will work within that forum but I cannot get it to work using the advanced search or on a search for a particular Kbase article. Even some of the links to kbase articles that I had return me with the same error. In fact, all of them do.
It seems a shame that all that knowledge is going to waste!!
Is there any idea what is happening and a timetable as to when it will be operational again?

    Hi Al --
I've experienced this, too. I don't know the cause, but a work-around is, when you get that "select a country page," simply hit the "back" button on your browser so that you're once again on the search page and then hit the search button again.
It's worked for me in the past and I just tried it again just now to make sure and it still works.

  • The search feature in Address Book no longer works

I have over 2,400 contacts. For no apparent reason the search feature in my Apple Address Book no longer works. The  Address Book app has quit several times recently, again for no apparent reason. It is probably unrelated, but Preview has also been quitting. I have repaired permissions and used Disk Warrior 4.4 to rebuild the directory. Any thoughts?

That was a while back...after a little research to jog my memory, it had to do with iCloud. I found this on another page, and I think this is what I did to fix it:
"I had the same problem and fixed it a slightly different (and probably safer) way:
Backup your Address Book - File > Export > Address Book Archive
Go into preferences > iCloud - untick syncing for Contacts
When it asks you, tell it to delete the contacts from your local Mac (all your local address cards will be deleted but they will still be in iCloud)
All your cards should now be deleted from Address Book on your Mac
    Quit Address Book
Go into preferences > iCloud - tick syncing for Contacts (this will download your contacts into Address Book again)
Open Address Book and after a few secs you should see all your cards and the problem should be fixed"
The important part is to be sure to export your Address Book before doing anything. I think I ended up afater deleting all the cards and quitting address book, I reimported them from the backup I exported. Has been fine since. This is pretty safe as long as you have that exported file.

  • The search feature in Add Places cannot find any locations.

When I try to add places, the search feature cannot find any locations. I can, however, drag and drop photos onto locations on the map. I've tried contacted support twice and they have not been helpful at all. I would appreciate any help.

You installed a search plugin. Why not look for it the search bar?
