Where is the sound?

PLEASE HELP!!!! sometimes....very often... i can't hear music in itunes....tried to get help from itunes via email....they referred me to apple...

When you say the videos work fine but no audio, do you mean that your QuickTime videos don't play the audio? In some of the posts here, the problem was fixed by launching GarageBand. Have you tried that?

Are you meaning that you're exporting video to another format using QuickTime Pro and that the export doesn't include audio? In this case, the videos you're trying to export are probably .mpg videos which QuickTime doesn't support exporting audio for. To get that video into a QuickTime format, use the free MPEG Streamclip.

I have Final Cut Studio 2. Where is the sound effects sound library located? I accidentally found the royalty free music stored in a obscure place?

Yes, I converted them in itunes for ipod before uploading and playing.

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.

how come when i convert a quicktime movie file from my digital camera to an mpeg4 media file (using itunes) it removes the sound from the clip?!
it's really frustrating because i can watch the clip, but for some reason the sound has just dissapeared!!
does anyone know how i can fix this annoying problem?!

How are you converting the file and where are you playing the file? Also get info on the file in iTunes, is it muxed?

Not sure where the sound went. I have deleted all cookie, cache, history. Not sure how to get sound back.

All sound or sounds in apps? Can you hear songs in the Music App?
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

I use the identical settings in "video settings" and the volume is up on both the iPod and TV, and the connections are firmly in place and the white, yellow and red connections are in their proper order.
I've tried playing photo slideshows, music videos and music. The video part is just fine, but I just can't seem to get the sound to work. I know I'm doing something wrong. Any ideas? Thanks.

New Ipod- where's the sound?

Well I got the new Ipod Shuffle
&& it was working for an awhile just fine
But now I turn it on && when I want to turn the volume up, I push the + button and the volume decreases and I can longer hear it. And the little light on the Ipod flashes an orange color repeatedly
What the heck it going on
I did upload the new version of Itunes but it is still whacked.

The orange light flashes when you increase the volume to the maximum level or decrease the volume to the minimum level.
What happens when you push the "-" button? Does the volume change? What about the center select button?
The 1.0.2 update should keep the sound from ramping all the way up or down, but that's what appears to happening to yours. Mine did that intermittently which I attributed to shorting of the "-" button due to sweat.
I let the controls dry out and sealed them up and now they work fine.

Where's the sound and music?

When I place the clip/music onto the time line, the sound works fine, but then when I save and exit out of the program and reenter... the music and all the sound is missing. Even though the file is clearly there. When I copy the file over the ones on the time line, it works again... but it is really tedious. I hate to reedit everytime I start working on it. When I click on the music or sound files on the time line, the sequence shows no sign of any sound on the effects window, even though the same file on the left window shows that there is. What's going on, and how can I fix this annoying issue? Everything in CS3 is starting to fall apart on me, and I have no idea why. All of the sound is basically gone, including the ones that belong to the video clips. I can see the file on the time line, I just cannot hear it from there. I can only hear it if I play it from the file list on the left window. I cannot hear any sounds on the time line, any solutions?

Where's the sound in my browsers?

This is certainly a puzzlement!
iTunes plays on my G5 iMac just fine. Action sounds play just fine. Audio files play in the Finder, no problem.
But if I go to Youtube or some other web pages with video content, I can watch the video, but there is no sound! Volume controls are up in every setting I can find (as confirmed by iTunes sound) but I cannot hear the sound of videos.
I've tried Firefox and Safari and Camino with the same results.
OTOH movie trailers on the Apple.com site work just fine! What's going on with these other sites that I've lost sound. And more to the point, what do I need to look for to get the sound back?

Following the procedures listed in No sound from some applications, but system alert sounds play (Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4), or opening GarageBand (if you have it installed) often corrects problems of this nature.

Sound...where's the sound?

So, I was listening to iTunes, then left to run errands, came back, doofed around, and when I opened iTunes to listen...no sound. So, I wander over to SysPref and I see that my built-in audio output has somehow become Digital Out. Don't know where it came from, though it's listed in the Sys Profiler under hardware. It has no sound output device for Digital Out. Somebody PLEASE tell me where it came from and how can I get back my default output (built-in audio)?

Please look in System Preferences - Sound and ensure it hasn't been set to mute and the volume is set at least mid way.

I shutdown my Mac this morning and this afternoon I turned on my computer and I have no sound. Help!

Go to: Apple / System Preferences / Sound, select the Output tab and check to see if you can "Select a device for sound output" or if perhaps the Mute box is checked.

Where is the sound coming from when you open the lid from sleep?

Is that the hardrive waking up? Just curious.

I concur with Boyd, it is the DVD drive being check to see if there is a disk there.
