I have the CANON REBEL T5 1200D, and when i connect it to my mac which is 10.10 the new OS X YOSEMITE it says that it "Cannot be used with this version of the operating system" why does it say that if my camera is listed under the supported digital cameras for OS X YOSEMITE?

Put simply, the minimum system requirements for iTunes have changed. You need a Mac running at least OS X 10.6.8.
It's best you look online to see if your model of Mac can be upgraded to at least 10.6.8 "Snow Leopard". It should still be possible to order a copy of Snow Leopard if so.

  • I have the Canon Rebel EOS T3i and was wondering what is the best setting to take firework pictures.

How can I get great pics of fireworks with my Canon EOS T3i??

For this kind of photography, it is essential to have no movement of the camera at all.  Here are the settings that have worked for me:
    1. Tripod - this is an absolute must for any kind of night photography, including fireworks.
    2. Cable release - since you can move the camera just by pressing the shutter release, you have to activate the shutter without touching the camera.  You can do this either with a cable release or with an infrared trigger.  Be sure to get the correct cable or remote for your camera since they differ from one model to another.
    3. Use manual mode and activate Live View whenever possible.  The flipping of the mirror within the camera can also generate movement, so Live View is very helpful.
    4. Use an aperture of f/8-f/11.
    5. Use ISO 100.
    6. Focus at infinity - you can manually zoom during the exposure for an interesting effect.
    7. 4 second exposure to start and adjust up or down based on your results.
    8. You will likely need a wide focal length such as 35mm to start, and then adjust as necessary if you have a zoom lens.
    9. Other possible adjustments - set the White Balance to 5300K; set the exposure compensation to -1.0 EV. This is a full 1-stop underexposure to keep the firework highlights from burning out.
I haven't posted photos to this forum before, but if this works, here's an example of what I mean.  This was shot last summer with a Canon 60D, 4 second exposure at f/11, ISO 100, 32mm.

  • Hello I'm Christina, I'm using the Canon Rebel T1i to record videos. It only records 40 seconds

I'm using it to record YouTube videos but it only records the first 40-46 seconds then it shuts off. It's on the mode to record up to 24 minutes but it shuts off by itself. How can I fix this?

Usually when this happens it's the memory card.
As the camera is recording frames of video, it goes to the internal memory buffer of the camera. The camera, in turn, writes the data to the memory card. The memory card's ability to "write" data is usually the slowest link in the chain. If the card cannot write data as fast as the camera can capture frames, then the internal memory on the camera will fill up and the camera will be forced to stop recording.
The specs for the T1i require a minimum "Class 6" memory card (the logo look like a C with a number 6 inside) to record video, but frankly a Class 10 card would be better.
I've come to learn that not all memory cards perform nearly as well as their manufacturer's claim. SanDisk and Lexar brands have a fairly solid reputation. Even among SanDisk and Lexar, they make different grades of cards.
Lastly, card do eventually wear out. Think of them like car tires. After one ride you wont notice the wear.... but thousands of miles later it all adds up. The process of "writing" to a card slightly degrades it and after enough writes the card will fail. For a quality card, the number of writes should be very high (in excess of 100,000 writes). So it's possible that a card which was fine once upon a time may start to exhibit problems after a few years.

  • I want to take pictures of jewelry, which canon rebel camera can do this job?

Can someone help me decide between the Canon Rebel T3 and T5?

As hsbn said, all Rebel bodies can handle this but you'll want a lens that will let you get close.  A 60mm or 100mm macro lens would work well.
But keep in mind that any polished metal will behave "like a mirror".   It's usually a good idea to have some "white" and "black" foamcore boards to control the reflections in the jewelry.  These are placed just out of frame but placed so that the reflection visible in the jewelry is the plain white or black board.

  • Canon Rebel?

I am new to photography and I have been using a Kodak 7530 5meg. camera with my Elements 3. I would like to move up to a better camera and I have decided on the Canon Rebel 8 Meg. My question is this: I can buy this camera "bundled" with the 17- 85 lens. Is that lens choice a good choice for portraits and all-around photography? Should I buy with the standard 18-55 and buy an additional zoom lens? What about the Sandisc Extreme III 1Gig. card? I see a 75-300 Canon lens but the reviews report this lens as cheap and will distort. Thanks Bill

    Bill....
I have what you describe but with the Original 300D(Rebel). The standard 17-85 is a very good lens and serves me well. I find it sharp but the smallest apperture is a bit slow at times, causing me to bump up the ISO setting.
I also have the USM III 75-300. This is pretty good to. No distortion but at wide apertures the image is a little soft.
Remember in both cases the sensor being smaller than a std 35mm film gives an apperant magnification factor of about 1.6 on these focal lengths.
As for memory cards my own preference is for a few smaller ones than one big one......egg's and baskets etc.
As for batteries, follow Tom's advice and get spare batteries. I bought Hahnel which is a lot cheaper than the Canon and just as good.
In all I think you'll be happy with your choices. The only thing on my shopping list at the moment is to swap out the 75-300 for something a little faster and with Image Stabilisation.
(Actually I'd like the EOS 5D but my wife says, no chance :-( )

  • Can't put CR2 files from Canon Rebel T5i on PSE 11? How do I get them to load?

I keep trying to put my CR2 files on photoshop elements 11 and I can't. It keeps saying my camera is not compatilble. I use a Canon Rebel T5i. How do I get it load? Do I need to update my program? I really need to get this images up and editted asap! Help, please!

You should be able to open the Canon Rebel T5i/700d camera raw files with pse 11 if you update to camera raw 7.4
In the pse 11 editor go to Help>Updates and hopefully that should download and install camera 7.4

  • Proper sequence settings for importing Canon Rebel T2i footage

Greetings, all. I searched the forum and didn't find this question answered elsewhere, so I thought I'd ask.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, version 4.2.1, and I'm trying to find the ideal sequence settings for the Canon Rebel T2i, which records in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, with adjustable frame rate. I am running on Apple Mac OSX 10.8.2.
I've been editing with this footage for over a year now, and it's always been a struggle because I have to render all footage before I can even play it in Premiere. When first imported, the render bar above the timeline is yellow.
I'd like to see if I'm doing this incorrectly; to know if I have a simple sequence setting that's incorrect. What sequence settings should I use for my imported footage to start out green and not require a lengty render for video that isn't even edited yet?
    Thank you,
    -Matt

    >When first imported, the render bar above the timeline is yellow
I think this is written for CS5, but the concept should be the same

  • Camera Raw CS4 Canon Rebel T3i update?

Is there an update to Camera Raw (CS4!) for the Canon EOS Rebel T3i?
Or, is there an equivelant method for opening CR2 files in PS CS4?
Can I update to Camera Raw 6.4.1 (which is when it started support for the Canon Rebel T3i) with CS4?

Once a new verson of PS comes out camera raw is not updated, and the old version is not suppported.
Also, you have to stay with the ACR for each version, which is one number higher than the PS version.  So for CS4 you have to stay with ACR 5.x
You options are to upgrade to current version so you can use ACR 7.x or download the free current DNG converter.  Currently the DNG converter is 7.1 which is the same as ACR 7.1.

  • Camera Connection Kit Not Working with Canon Rebel

Using the connection and the Canon Rebel SRLD, I was not able to transfer pictures to the iPad.
I was able to transfer pictures using the memory card.
Not able to transfer pictures from the 3G iPhone.
Should I take the connection kit, the camera, and the iPad to an Apple store to see why it's not working, or does anyone have any solutions.
    Thanks,

The cameras connection kit does not support the iPhone 3G.

  • Canon rebel vs. Olympus PEN

Hi folks. I will be buying a digital still camera in the next month or two, and have kind of narrowed it down to either a Canon Rebel (T1i or XSi) or an Olympus PEN (P1, P2 or PL1). The Canon Rebel T1i records video in .MOV format, and the Olympus in AVI Motion JPEG(30fps). Can I import these into a Mac (if I upgrade to FCE 4.0)? Either format preferable? Any and all opinions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,
Neither of these cameras record in formats that are immediately supported by FCE. You'd have to use the free [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com> to convert the material into something FCE could edit.
At first glance it appears that the T1i records in a format that would be easier to convert to editable material.

  • Where can I find a tutorial for the Canon Pixma MG6220

I am unable to make full use of the Canon Pixme MG6220 I purchased a few weeks ago. I am an 85 year old geezer and my old printer was pretty straight forward but had limited features whereas this Pixma 6220 is a great machine but I find it most intimidating to use some of its features and have had no luck in finding a tutorial online-------can anyone help me?????

I dont know how I did it: I have found the manual, but it's extremely confusing. I am 70, not quite as old as the questioner.  I find this manual has too much content and I cannot find what I need (like almost every web page!).
We just bought the pixma MG6220 and have installed the driver on both our computers, and it's supposed to work wirelessly, and it does. Mine is a macbook air and we had to use the external drive to do the installation.
But when it came to scanning photos in order to add them to the digital ones, the scanner could only find my husband's PC, not my macbook. I understand that you cannot simultaneously use both computers to scan. Do I have to switch off the other computer to use mine? Or do I have to attach the laptop with a wire to the printer. My laptop is near the new printer, but the husband's PC and modem are further away - but they work. I have spent several hours trying to solve this, which should have a very simple answer, but can find nothing. I didn't understand 99 per cent of the content of the manual, which is very disempowering. Could it not "hide" the more obscure content and make it accessible via specific links. I do not want to plug in the external drive every time I want to use the scanner or printer (I lose the mouse function).
I also find it hard to navigate these community pages! What is tagging?

  • I have a canon rebel t3, i dropped it and the battery door fell out. Is it possible for it to work

So basically I have a canon rebel t3, I recently dropped it(not that hard) and the battery/memory door broke of. I put it back and it worked except I don't think it 100 percent worked. My camera haven't been working since that day. I'm not sure if ive seen the camera battery door inside the battery I can see the inside to where you connect the door kind of chipped. I tried to put it back in and unexspectdly the little part of the camera's battery door chipped. Is there any possible way for the camera to work without the battery door? will i have to get it repaired at a store for money? can there be any home-treatment i could do? THANKs

Sorry!   But it needs to be reapired by a service center.  There may be other issues inside you are not seeing right now and in the long run it will never be dependable until it is checked out.  Caneras don't like being droped, even a little, and they don't like being wet.  Two, no-no's.

  • I am trying to download pictures from my canon rebel  eos to my Ipad but i get the message "this device is not supported" what can I do ?

I just bought an Apple Lighting to USB Camera Adapter. When I got home to and connected it to my Canon Rebel EOS Digital Camera. I received the error message "This device is not supported" I was wondering if there is any software or drivers I need to download?
    Thanks
    Don

I use Canon Cameras and have no problems downloading photos from the camera to the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. My questions and suggestions might be basic but just to make sure:
    1. This is an iPad forum area. Are you using the lightning to USB camera adapter with an iPad? Your info in your original post says iPod. I'm not sure that the adapter works with an iPod.
    2. After you connect the adapter to your iPad and then use a USB cable to connect the adapter to the camera did you turn on the camera?
    3. If you did turn on the camera and still did not get the import of photos to start try a reset your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. This will not cause any data loss.
