Where is the utilities folder on an iphone 4 please.

Hiya.  Ive fallen foul of the unknown encription password issue when backing up my phone on iTunes.  I've tried every combination of every password I can think of.  I've backed up to cloud and then reset the phone as a new device and restored from the cloud but I am still stuck with the itunes backup and I am unable to take off the password encryption to go back to backing up on iTunes.
I have taken a (very) long look at all the possible solutions and I have now set a keychain passcode to try to take look at the password key thing but I cannot even find a utilities folder on my iphone or and applications folder or anything like that to look in.
I have an iphone 4 and I don't have many apps on it but I assume the uitilties thing is something which should just be on the phone anyway.
If anyone has any ideas how I can just get rid of the first back-up I did on itunes so I can start again but without going for the encrypt option that would be great as well.
The phone has synced OK and after a bit of a panic I also got back all my other things from the icloud after I had cleared the phone completely in an effort to lose the encrypt option from iTunes.
I've been trying now for about 12 hours and I'm at my wits end.  I need the iTunes back up to run against another piece of software I have bought but the software cannot work with the encrypted back up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Thanks for your promt reply Johnathan.  Is there a way of looking for the keychain thing anywhere else please

  • Where is the Utilities folder?

My mac is only a week old. According to the help sections, I should have things like Grab, Terminal, and Disk Utility in my Utilities folder - everything listed on this page.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/what-is-macosx/apps-and-utilities.html
My applications folder is complete with everything that's mentioned, but in my Utilities folder there's only the Apple Launcher and the Jar Bundler. I have no idea what's going on. Here's what I did for the setup:
I did not use the Mac OS X Install DVD, the manual does not say that I need to use it, so I didn't...
I didn't really know what to do with the Applications Install DVD either. But just in case, I put it in and got it installed, maybe that's why I have a complete Apps folder?
Was I supposed to insert the OS X Install DVD to get my Utilities folder? If I put it in now, would it wipe out everything else on the mac? Also, the disk says that it installs for OS Version 10.5.6, but in "About this mac" it says that mine is Version 10.5.7, so why would I want to install an earlier version...?
Please help... I'm absolutely new with mac, and now I'm getting quite frustrated...
    Thanks a lot!

You should not need to run the installer on a new Mac. Since the Mac is only a week old, I would contact AppleCare and talk to tech support.
You should be able to use the Install DVD to restore the bundled software. However, since it is 10.5.6, you may then need to install the 10.5.7 combo update to get everything fixed afterwards.
An Archive and Install, preserving user and network settings, will re-install the OS, but keep any users and your network settings. However, I would imagine that you will need to install the 10.5.7 combo update.
AppleCare may be able to give you a better solution. Also, another reason to contact AppleCare would be to notify them that they may have a bad installation image that is being used on new Macs. Being that you have 10.5.7 installed, but have 10.5.6 disks makes me think something might have gotten messed up.

  • Where is the Hidden folder in photos?

I Migrated my pics from iPhoto to Photos. I've read that the pictures will appear in a "Hidden" folder...not in Moments or Albums. Where is the Hidden folder? I cannot find.

    Hi Ohohum,
Happy Holidays!  The resource below will review the migration process from iPhoto to Photos for iOS.  If you have any hidden photos, they will be in an album called Hidden.  Click on the links below for complete details.  I've summarized some of the key information relating to your question below:
Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8 - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201386
Photos hidden in iPhoto do not appear in the Years, Moments, or Collections views in Photos, but are placed in an album titled Hidden.
View photos and videos - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iph3d267610
The Photos app includes tabs for Photos, Shared, and Albums.
Tap Albums to see how photos and videos are organized into albums on your iPhone. See Organize photos and videos.
View all your photos and videos. By default, Photos displays a representative subset of your photos when you view by year or by collection. To see all your photos and videos, go to Settings > Photos & Camera, then turn off Summarize Photos.
Organize photos and videos - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iphf14943e
Album tab includes albums you create and several default albums, depending on which Photos features you use. Videos are automatically added to the Videos album, for example. You see a My Photo Stream album if you use that feature (see My Photo Stream). If you use iCloud Photo Library beta, you have an All Photos album, which includes all your photos and videos in iCloud (see iCloud Photo Library beta); if you don’t use iCloud Photo Library beta, the Camera Roll album includes photos and videos you took with iPhone or saved to iPhone from other sources.
Hide photos you want to keep but not show. Touch and hold a photo, then choose Hide. The photo is moved to the Hidden album. Touch and hold a hidden photo to Unhide it.
Remove a photo or video from an album. Tap the photo or video, tap , then tap Delete Photo. The photo is removed from the album and from the Photos tab.
Delete a photo or video from Photos. Tap the Photos tab, tap the photo or video, tap , then tap Delete Photo or Delete Video. Deleted photos and videos are kept in the Recently Deleted album on iPhone, with a badge showing the remaining days until the item is permanently removed from iPhone. To delete the photo or video permanently before the days expire, tap the item, tap Delete, then tap Delete Photo or Delete Video. If you use iCloud Photo Library beta, deleted photos and videos are permanently removed from all iOS 8.1 devices that use iCloud Photo Library beta with the same Apple ID.
Recover a deleted photo or video. In the Recently Deleted album, tap the photo or video, tap Recover, then tap Recover Photo or Recover Video to move the item to the Camera Roll or, if you use iCloud Photo Library beta, the All Photos album.

  • HT3042 I can't find any file exchange icon in the utilities folder

I can't find the Bluetooth File Transfer icon in the utilities folder on my iPhone

It's not supposed to be on your iPhone. That application is for Macs.
iPhone's do not support file transfers over Bluetooth. There are some apps in the AppStore that can do it to the same app running on another iOS device, but not to non-iOS devices.

*** may have found a fix ? *** Thanks to your post re: GDI objects I checked task manager ( added column "GDI objects")and saw 700+ whereas working 6.18 was 160 ish Got thinking - what could possibly  use that many GDI objects ( firefox only uses a few hundred and it's a platform ) Then it hit me - emoticons ! So in tools/ options/ IM&SMS/ IM Appearance    unchecked "show emoticons"and also unchecked "show images and other media previews"restarted Skype and GDI objects now only 164 ( down from 729 )and all other windows are repainting fine and are usable again( my problem was RDP sessions that became unusable, as I work remotely  ) To be sure, have rechecked the options and restarted skype and see 700+GDI objects ( goes up from 660 when place call to echo/sound test )and removed them again to get only 164have also rebooted a few times and gone through the whole processof unchecking emoticons, restart, rechecking emoticons, restart to make sure itsnot a fluke.  pretty sure this has fixed it for me ( so I now have a working 7.6.0.105 on XP SP3 ),and as your problem "sounds" the same I hope it also works for you. Thanks again for the GDI hint

  • Where is the extension folder for Adobe Bridge? (Mac)

I am trying to install the output module on Adobe Bridge. I am totally new to Creative Suite and photoshop. I can't find any information on bridge extensions at all. Here's the page I found on installing the output module- http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/install-output-module-bridge-cc.html
I downloaded it but after that is says to copy it into the extension folder. Where is the extension folder? Is it is Bridge? Is it in Finder? Any information on extensions is much appreciated! What exactly are extensions? What is the difference between the extension folder and extension manager?
    Thank you!

At first sight I can' see anything wrong about the correct locations you used.
There was no need to delete all workspaces but that also should do no harm I would think.
You once pointed at the bridge6.plist file but it is not clear to me what you did with it. Personally I would quit Bridge and delete this plist file manually and then restart with again holding down option and use reset preferences.
And you did also use the reset to standard workspaces instead of the reset workspace to only reset the selected workspace. I don't know for sure this will make a difference but it is worth a try.
And while you are in the user library to delete the plist file for Bridge also look in the folder caches in this library.
User / library/caches/adobe/Bridge CC and inhere find and delete both the plug in and cache folder, then restart Bridge.
Finally it might be also worth a try to download CS6, it should not be needed to do so but it was one of the earlier solutions that worked. In your ACC menu click on any app that shows blue and this brings you to the CC website. Choose download center and find PS. Click on the icon and this gives you the detailed download page. Inhere you can change CC to CS6.
Download PS6 it and install it (this also installs the CS6 version of Bridge which was not a separate download in CS6). Then try first start CS6 and start the AOM which is installed by default in this version.
Then when having used this once quit CS6 and try CC (or even combine with restarting your Mac).
Hope this helps, because I'm running out of options

  • Many apps are missing in the Utilities folder.

    Hi there!
The MacBook Pro I'm using is Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5. The weird thing is: when I bought it, I tranferred my files from a previous Macbook to this current one using Migration Assistant. But now I couldn't find Migration Assistant in this Pro, and there are many applicatioins missing in the Utilities folder (now there is only one folder named 'contents' contained in Utilities).
Could anyone tell me if it is normal or how can I fix it?
    Many thanks!!

    1)  In your first post you said you have an MBP with Mac OS X 10.7.5, that goes by the name of Lion.  Apple uses big cat names for its OS X versions.  Mountain Lion is Mac OS X 10.8.  Your MBP has Lion since you said you have 10.7.5.
    2)  If you reinstall Lion, and DO NOT do an erase and install, all applications and data, including photos and libraries, should be preserved.  It is always a good idea to make a backup first just as protection.  I have never had files damaged from installing or reinstalling the Mac OS X, but others have discussed that on here.  However, if all is working well you do not need to resort to a Mac OS X reinstall - this is to clean up problems noted below.
    3)  By mangled files I simply meant a built in file that seems to be damaged or not functioning correctly.  When you said that MA could not be opened due to a problem, that sounded like a damaged file.  Could be another reason, but it is not uncommon for system-level files to get corrupted over time, especially when the computer is not shutdown properly or power outages/surges occur, or for other reasons.  If there seems to be damage to system-level files the only way to clean things up is by reinstalling the operating system.
Reinstalling is usually very straight forward, but if everything is working fine it isn't necessary.  You might as a first step try doing a restart on the MBP which will stop services that may be having problems, often does some minor house cleaning, etc.  Try that first and see if all works well and see if MA will then start for you.
And by the way, when you said problems starting MA, there is a sequence for using MA, were you following that when you had the problem, or did you just try and start it from the MBP?

  • Where did the "library" folder at the users level go?

Where did the "library" folder at the users level go?

    Ziatron wrote:
Following the lead from Windows, it's now hidden.
Users are not qualified to use the library anyway.
When it's following the Windblows lead, there should also be an option to revert this, to be able to switch the hidden files back to visible. Haven't been able to find that option yet.
Furthermore, I despise your remark about users not being qualified. When I buy something I have all rights using any and all part of it. Whether that's a sensible choice for each and every user is a whole other question, but to treat all users as one dumb-*** group is not good (IMHO).

  • I accidentally deleted the "Utilities Folder"

I deleted the Utilities Folder by mistake. Does anyone have any advice on how i can retrieve this folder back ?

Welcome to Discussions - I'm not sure if you can extract it from the install package, I think the simplest thing to do would be to perform an Archive and Install. Read this instructions carefully, and remember to check "preserve user settings and preferences"., Your Utilities should be back and in order.
