Where is the video EFX editing?

In my last iMovie there was a video efx editing tool that let you do fast/slow/reverse, pixie dust, etc. I've looked everywhere for it but can't find it on the brand new iMove 2008. Anyone know where they hid it? And does anyone know what else they might have taken out?

It ain't there. Just one of many changes in the whole NEW iMovie 08 that turns a lot of people back to their good ol' iMovie HD6. Should'a looked before you leaped!

Where do the videos go when i sync my phone? The ones i take with my phone?
im looking for them on my PC not the phone btw
    thanks for any help

They don't sync with iTunes. You access them from another application on your computer. For me, I use Photoshop Elements to get pictures and videos off my iPhone when it's synced. Mac users can use iPhoto to do the same thing.
Also, on the PC you can drill down into the iPhone folder structure from your Explorer window and copy/paste the videos onto your PC.

why does adobe premier elements render my video everytime i change something in it even when i have lots more of the video to edit? other editing software only seems to render at the start then lets you edit until your ready to save at the end.  Constant rendering means its almost impossible to edit anything. Please help.

What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system is it running? It will not influence my answer but will give me information in case I need to get into version specifics to detail my answer further.
Timeline rendering is a preview matter. It does not fix anything, but it is your window of opportunity to catch of problem sooner than latter. If the Timeline rendering indicator displays orange (11 or higher) for the line above the Timeline content, that is the project telling you that you are not getting the best possible preview of the playback of that content in the Edit area monitor. And, every time you edit a file, you have altered the file from the time before. So, if you want to see the best possible for what you now have, you Timeline render. This is particularly helpful when you are dealing with titles, effects, transitions, and non native formats. You cannot turn off the Timeline render indicator system, at least none that I have ever found nor seen reported. You can do selective Timeline rendering by having the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar span only the Timeline segment that you want Timeline rendered.
Consequently, you either ignore the Timeline render indicator system, move on in the project, and take your chances in the outcome or you Timeline render to get your best possible preview if the Timeline render indicator is suggesting that you do so.
I am not approving or disapproving of this project feature, just commenting on the what is.
This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. If you want to have your voice heard at Adobe, you might consider filing an Adobe Feature Request Bug Report Form.

    Please consider.

Add On...it is also possible to do Timeline rendering in a project, save close the project, and reopen it to find your previously "green" lined content now "orange", indicating unrendered. Yet the preview files generated originally by Timeline rendering are still existing in their hard drive save location. That is another story for other time.

  • Photo booth functionality lost: where is the video/background replacement?

    Hi,
I used photo booth to replace the background with a video.
For the camera I use an isight camera.
but now in MAC 10.5.2 there IS NO BACKGROUND replacement.
It does not display the option to add the video to be used in background.
By the way there are only 2 pages or effects now...
where is the video/background functionality now in photo boot?
    thanks a lot

    Hello avalokitesvara
"2 pages or effects" is normal for us Dual G5 users.  Dual G5s can't use backgrounds (sometimes Apple calls them "backdrops" instead.)
Whether the background/backdrop is in iChat OR Photo Booth, a Mac with an Intel processor is required to use backdrops/backgrounds.

  • Where are the video tutorials I saw generated from the PhotoShop CS.5 Installation Disc?

Where are the video tutorials I saw generated from the PhotoShop CS.5 Installation Disc? How to work on a face, New to CS5, How to strip in a background? etc. Very helpful. Want to get started here.

Thank you Curt Y. You're right. They're there. The tutorials are so smart. Don't know why they didn't download. With video tutorials "Live time" experts fumble themselves giving a perfect means for the user to absorb the "logic" of how the PhotoShop function thinks. There's no other way. Only a robot can, wants to, is motivated by boring line by line written description.  I rather eat gravel than try and follow "line by line."  line-by-line = ZZZZZZZZZZZZ.  Have a great holiday season, whereever you are, whatever you celebrate. • Where is the video sharing/ review/ annotation?

Where is the video sharing/ review/ annotation functionalty in creative cloud?  This is a glaring hole in the work flow of this  product.  Is there a plan in the  near  future to incorporate this?   Adobe already  has  this  developed  -- was  formerly  CSReview.....

  • Where did the video lounge forum go?

    hello,
i haven't been here in a while.  a lot has changed.  there used to be a lot of funny stuff and cool off topic threads here in the video lounge.
now it seems to be only a place where people ask for free youtube intros...it's kinda sad in a way.
i guess like bob dylan says: the times they are a changin...
happy holidays and good fortune to all, cheers, j

I think that part of the problem is that when many of us started hanging out in here, there were not a lot of places to read about video related topics, or discuss video related topics.
There were a couple of contests back in the day and we had a lot of fun.
But there are so many places on the web now that deal with video, and so many people who shoot video with their cameras and their phones, that we don't see as many people here probably because there is nothing at all unique about people shooting video.
I had a very popular web site because I collected all of the info that I could into one place. Now you can just Google what you want and there are lots of places that can help you find just the right info or product. So I am retiring my site and planning on using it for my photography portfolio.
In other words, it just isn't the same anymore.
For a while we had a guy who posted lots of stuff every day, but he was not happy and eventually got tired of being told to calm down, so he is gone, or is using a new screen name.and not posting much.
But you never know. Maybe a few new people will start interesting conversations that will entice the rest of us back into participating.

  • Where are the videos taken by iphone stored in iphoto?

I've taken a number of videos and still photos with my iphoto but only the still photos appear in Iphoto. Where are the visdeos stored and how can I retrieve them?

How are you moving the photos from your Phone to iPhoto?
    What version of iPhoto?
By default everything you import into iPhoto is stored in the iphoto library - What do you mean by "how do I retreive" them?
To use videos in iMovie launch imovie and import the videos to iMovie
To use them with other programs select them in iPhoto and export with kind = original (see the user tip on exporting for more information on the current options in exporting)
What exactly are you haveing problesm with and what exactly do you want to accomplish?

  • VICE-gnome: Where are the video settings?

I'm trying to get vice-gtkglext from the aur to work.
I managed to build it but the result has all video settings missing: No 'double size', no 'video settings' and ALT+D for fullscreen just replaces the menu with black borders.
I haven't use vice in a long time so it might have changed but I distrinctly remember those settings. As it is I can't get anything bigger than the tiny default window of some 400 by 300 pixels.
Is there a problem with my build or has VICE just hidden the video settings?

The NEW ITEM process should ensure that your editing sequence matches your video file

  • Where is the video folder

Can anyone tell me where on my hard drive the video's I have loaded onto my iweb page are kept.
I am sure I have found them before but just can't find them this time.
They all work find it's just that I need to find them.
    Regards,
    Wiggy.

Everything you add to iWeb is save in the domain.sites file in :
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
where ~ is your Home directory.
Right-click the file and choose +Show package content+ from the menu to see the content of the domain file.

  • Syncing pictures and videos from pc to iPad. Where are the videos stored?

Can't find my videos on iPad. Where are they?

They should be either in the Videos or Photos app; if not you could try spotlight searching for them.

  • Share to iTunes. Where is the video in iTunes?

Ok, I used the Share button to Share the video to iTunes. But now I cannot find it. Its not in the Videos or Music apps. So where did it go? Do I have to Sync with my computer and then transfer it to Videos?

The share to iTunes is for Projects, not videos.
You can find the project in the apps tab in iPhone-iPad options.
    Read about it ehre:

  • Where are the video files?.

    Forum,
I am very confused, not sure I have even entered the subject question correctly.
The MBP will not capture directly to external drive,a former post to the forum has advised me to purchase a firewire card.
Therefore I have captured to a partition on the internal drive.
    No problems.
I then dragged the file from the internal partition to the external drive,a green cross appeared which I understand indicates the file has transfered to the external drive.
However when I examine space used on the external drive it is only 157Mb.
Clearly a 30 minute video uses 6 Gb.
I can see that information in the internal partition.
Now what I can not understand is when I choose the file in FCP to enter into the viewer it tells me it is offline.
Thinking it may be in the external drive, despite knowing that it can not be stored in 157 Mb.I start up the external drive.
Now the clips come to life and I can drag them into the viewer and proceed.
So, where is the 6Gb. file?
Why do I need to start up the external drive when the file is not there,or is it.
Some time ago Studio X advised me it is better to enter video files onto an external drive.
So I have taken his advice because he obviously knows what he is talking about.
Any way there is not space to store all my video files on the internal partition, the OS and applications take up 85 Gb. so that means 100Gb. allowing for 10% head room, only about 38 Gb. for video files.
The information I have entered about my kit is accurate.
If my post appears pedantic, forgive me,but so many posters are asked to clarify or give more information.
I hope I have supplied all information required.
    Thank you
    Michael Craven.

    David,
    Thank you for your reply.
Your information in paragraph 1 is noted with interest and added to my information book.
I have carried out the steps you suggested in paragraph 2.
    157 Mb. is still shown.
When I open the file in Quick time, the following statement appears "The movie could not be opened,The file is not a movie file"
Well to press on I deleted all files from the internal drive partition named "video files" That partition is empty.
So,back to the iomega external drive.
Opened the file "Georgie and her kittens'.
FCP opens and shows the eight clips of that video.
Double click, select "show in the viewer" and they appear in the viewer.
Obviously the video files are on the external drive. I think.
I must have had doubts that a transfer of 6 Gb. from the internal drive to an external drive was so quick.
The iomega external drive shows "extended (journaled)"
In a later post reply Ken Summerall sugests "journaled' slows down information selection.
How do I remove " journaled"?
Should I pose that question in another post?
    Thank you for your help.
    Michael Craven.

  • Where is the video?

    Hello Everybody,
I was watching a tool demonstration on the internet and saved the web page to my desktop for the text information. Later when I opened it (when the internet was completely disconnected) the video started playing. I thought..., how could this be, The document is only 64KB in size, it must be stored somewhere on my hard disk.
The web page did not ask me to download the video, I simply save it from the Safari file menu. I was wondering where this video is stored on my computer or if this is the real size? The video is about 1 minute long and is somewhat clear at about 5" inches in size.
    Thank You
    Marco

I went to the folder and couldn't make sense of it. The folders appear to all be numbered 01, 02, 03, and so on up to 15. I tried to open some of these and see if I can play any videos but was unable to. I found the setting in quicktime prefs. to increase the movie down load cache size. But it sure is difficult to find the movie.
I guess they want you to play the movie from the saved web page, rather than from the actual movie. Is there any simple way to know if something you are watching is going into the quicktime cache and can be saved and viewed later without the internet?
    Thank You
    Marco
