Where is the Warp Stabilizer plugin located in After Effects CS6 program files?

I need to delete the plugin temporarily to gain access to my project because it constantly crashes on start up due to the Warp Stabilizer.

NOt sure if you can actually remove it,but it should be in the plugins/extensions sub-folder inside the AE install folder. Anyway, try the usual troubleshooting first before taking such a radical step that may destroy AE and require a reinstall. Flush the caches, open the project with capslock and remove the effect.

  • Where is the Lenovo Factory Image stored - and what is c:\program files\ unknown ?

Working with an X61s running XP Pro SP3.
We are using a third party program (Ghost) to do our own image backups.  These are coming in larger than expected so I began by doing a disk cleanup, emptying recycle bin, temp files etc.  After those steps...
Properties for Drive C show 35.5 G out of 160 used.
However, when I add up any folders off the root that have more than .5G I get 29.7 G.
That leaves 6 G unaccounted for.
I have check Lenovo's Restore and Recovery function and it is OFF and has been off as soon as we started working with the machine.  When I open that program, it shows no files available... so apparently(?) none where made.
There is a 5G Fat 32 partition that I assume is Lenovo's factory image file.  That partition is not part of the Ghost Image.
I ran WinDirStat and found a file that IS a 5.9 G file located under Program Files which shows in WinDirStat as c:\Program Files\<unknown>.
If I open Windows Explorer, the total files under Program Files equals the total for the individual folders under Program Files (EXCLUDING the "unknown")... so the "unknown" folder does not show up in Windows Explorer... only in WinDirStat... and in the image files I create with Ghost.
Any one know if this 5.9G "unknown" file has anything to do with Lenovo's many built in programs?  Suggestions welcome.

After the above post I found out that this is not the image file, but are the window recovery point files.
If you want to knock this down in size (in my case, I was getting huge image backups because of it) you can right click on My Computer, select properties, select the system restore tab and reduce the %of the drive that can be allocated to system restore files.
Note that this will limit how far back you can go to select a restore point... so check how far back you can go now... then reduce the allocation a bit.... and check it again.  Continue to reduce it until you have a compromise between the age of the recovery points you can go back to, and the size of the allocation.
    Hope that helps.

  • Where is the record/auto keyframe button in after effects cc?

I've traditionally used affter effects cs5/6, however after using CC I can't find the button.
Anyone else have this problem or can tell me where it is? Thanks!

    Hello Todd,
I have to disagree, using AE everyday for the past 6 years to earn my income in a 30 year career, I have workflows that use that feature. Or perhaps I am just a disgruntled veteran.
The auto record keyframe feature is one of many that has uses that non-professional users may not see the value of. Since there is a vast array of projects, custom elements, client request, creative troubleshooting and workflows, one may be inclined to use things that others may never use. I was asked the other day on why would I use "content aware" in Photoshop since there was no practical purpose for it. I about fell out of my chair. Maybe I need an element to dance around quickly to specific marks on the screen, not random, yet frenetic. to do this the most quickly, I may turn on auto keyframe and just navigate around my timing marks, position the element and move on to the next. Granted, not used often, but it has its uses... Just saying. As a professional, if I forget to turn it off, then that is my fault and I should know better and have ways to circumvent such issues. I found this thread today looking for this button as well.
    -cheers

  • AE CS6 won't launch on OSX 10.10, the update suggested to fix this (After Effects CS6 (11.0.4)) won't install

I upgraded to yosemite, and now AE won't open.
Steps I've found on the forums that I've tried and haven't worked:
    updating from the application manager:
there doesn't appear to be an update for AE listed in the updates, so that one's a bust.
fixing the permissions problem mentioned here:
the folder is already set to 'read & write' for my account, and for everyone.
    Downloading and installing this update:
When I attempt to install it, Adobe  Application Manager tells me this:
so I struck out there, as well.
Are there any other things I can try? or is the next step uninstall and reinstall?

After a time-machine reboot and a clean reinstall of everything, I was able to successfully install the 11.0.4 patch.  Do I get points for resolving my own question?

  • How to apply an effect to just the subject in After Effects CS6

    Hello,
I would like to add an effect to just a person in front of a green screen.  I've created an adjustment layer that produces the effect and placed it above the footage layer. How can I have the effect just apply to the actor and not carry over and fill the rest of the screen?
    thank you,
    Robert
    After Effects CS6
    Premiere Pro CS6

Don't be afraid of using multiple layers and duplicates of your keyed footage.
Another thing you can do is apply the grid effect to a solid, pre-compose the solid, then use Set Matte to extract the alpha from your keyed layer. There are a million ways to do what you want to do but most of them can't be done without using multiple layers.

  • 5 things which should be improved in the Warp Stabilizer

    1. Performance.
When stabilizing any footage I always ask myself: "What the heck is he doing there?!" not even a single core is really working hard. It looks like an idle background process  The GPU is idle as well, as the analysis pass is only run on the CPU.
This maybe okay if you still need much work to do in Premiere. But often, the next steps DEPEND on the stabilization and you have to WAIT and WAIT and WAIT...
It's just painful to imagine that, running a machine with 8 cores, more than 8 times the amount of video material COULD be analyzed.
The free Deshaker for Virtualdub actually uses more cores (even though not at 100%) but analyzes at about 20-21fps compared to the Warp Stabilizer at about 4-8fps.
Admitted, the Deshakers results aren't nearly as good (especially with rolling shutter, which can be configured though, but you don't always know the right percentage for the cam you're using).
This also applies to opening projects with much stabilization data. It opens... and opens... rarely any disk activity and rarely any CPU or GPU activity. Again: WHAT IS HE DOING THERE? Just waiting for the clock itself?! Or is he sending it all to the NSA? That at least would explain the unneccesary delay:P (just kidding!)
    2. Stabilization data.
For me, I wouldn't have any problem with storing it just inside a project folder or a separate file. Just add a checkbox into the plugin settings:
[x] Store stabilisation data in separate file/folder.
This may be then called [projectName].stabilization
Inside that folder, there will be maybe one file for every effect used in the project.
...or you can use the old way, if you don't have so much stabilization work to do.
    3. Small bugs.
When using "stabilize only", the resulting frame, at least in Premiere Pro, has a HUGE "DC offset" sometimes. This is a term from music producing, but exactly fits in here. You can clearly see it when there are still images that shouldn't receive much of stabilization. They're somtimes shifted far out of the viewing frame, leaving big black borders, so you have to manually adjust the frame position to fit back into a "neutral" position. This could be resolved to let the whole correcting curve undergo something like a "low pass filter" which will try to keep the resulting frame SOMEHOW centered.
In this image above, from a longer clip, there isn't much motion at all. But you can see how far the offset from the actual video frame is. I have to do this for almost every video, also after I change the "smoothness" setting.
    4. More control
I would LOVE to be able to disable "zoom detection", because it gives me lots of "Vertigo Effects" in many cases.
I heard this has been alredy addressed for CC.
    5. Improvements / new features
One thing I always do with every stabilized video:
Instead of synthesize edges, which takes AGES to render, I just do the following:
I place the same clip, unstabilized, behind the stabilized clip (stabilized, borders only) and give the stabilized clip softened borders with "rough edges". This even still renders fine on the GPU.
This would make a great option for the stabilizer. Just call it "overlay over original with blurred edges" or something like that.
This has worked extremely well for any stabilized footage so far and isn't nearly as disturbing as the synthesized edges.
I'm considering to join the Creative Cloud, because unless I do this I don't expect to see any improvements in my old and out-dated Premiere PRO CS6...

  • How  do you get the Warp Stabilizer VFX to work in After Effects CC?

Upon launching the Warp Stabilizer VFX an error message appears:  "After Effects error. Couild not launch Adobe Analysis Server. (515) (25 101)"  Am running MAC OSX 10.9.2  An error message also appears on launching After Effects CC:  "Quicktime is not installed on the system. Some components will not work correctly." This OS  is supposed to have Quicktime installed. Has anyone had this same problem with the warp stabilizer and been able to solve it?  I am restoring old movies and this function is essential.
    Thanks,  Sufferincats

You need to check your user permissions and firewall network stuff. Something is simply blocking the connections.

  • How to make the warp stabilizer analyze interlaced (upper + lower field) instead of progressive?

I am having a little problem since I am new to Premiere pro.
Until now I always used the warp stabilizer in After Effects for single shots in need of that. But this time, I was handed a project that requires a whole lot of stabilization. My plan is to drop the whole timeline (FCP 7/ProRes422 HQ Interlaced) via XML into Premiere Pro and apply the effect there to multiple clips.
PROBLEM: When I do this, the warp stabilizer always (no matter how I interpret the footage or set the sequence) analyzes the footage progressively. At least that is what the effect preferences tab says during analysis.
In After Effects I always see which field is beeing analyzed (it is indicated by a L and an U behind the frame count). Not so in Premiere Pro. Here it always seems to analyze full frames.
I made a test and compared the results from After Effects and Premiere Pro: The file generated in Premiere Pro is much softer then the one out of After Effects even though I export both with the same output settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
    Regards, franse

I just verified and the Description for Products (and possibly other objects too) are stored in table COMM_PRSHTEXT.
The relevant Data element is COMT_PRSHTEXTX which has the domain PRSHTEXT40.
If you look at this domain you have a parameter "lowercase" which is available as a flag option.
<u><b>The explanation about this Flag is the following:</b></u>
    Lowercase letters allowed/not allowed
If this flag is set, upper case and lower case are distinguished when you enter values with screen masks.
Otherwise all the letters entered will be converted to upper case when you enter values with a screen mask.
This mechansim is in effect for all the fields referring to this domain.
<b>Solution would be</b> to verify if for this data-element the same Domain is used.
If yes, you can flag this option in the domain.
    this should solve your problem.
    kind regards

  • HAS THE WARP STABILIZER CHANGED OR IMPROVED IN ANY MANNER IN After Effects 6.0?

It was quite an improvement over point tracking alone.
Have there been substantial further advances in the Warp Stabilizer in AE 6?
Also, has Mocha AE changed in any manner?
    Thanks!
    Matt Dubuque

Have there been substantial further advances in the Warp Stabilizer in AE 6?
What would be "substantial"? No, apart from a few minor workflow and performance enhacements there have been no changes.
Also, has Mocha AE changed in any manner?
You still get mocha 2.x, just a slightly newer version, not mocha 3.

  • I am THRILLED with the Warp Stabilizer

I recently came back from a ten-day filming trip across the deep south. It was my first field experience using DSLR (two Canon 7Ds). I shot everything handheld with no support, with the Warp Stabilizer in mind. The results have been AMAZING beyond my expectations. Some of these shots rival the best steadi-cam, dolly and jib shots I have seen. At times, the camera seems to be floating or hovering. This is just awesome.

    We're glad you like it.

  • Can anyone tell me where the default location is for the disc cache in After Effects CS6?

I recently changed the location of the disc cache in After Effects CS6 but I failed to empty the cache before changing the location and I need to delete all of the old cached files. Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Where is the right path to deploy third party DLL? "Support Files"?

    Hi, After Effetcs developers:-)
Here is question about install path of DLL for After Effects plug-in.
I'm developing Effects plug-in run with CUDA, so I have to deploy third party DLL to client PC.
So where is the right path to put DLL such as cudart32_30_14.dll?
I think it's under "Support Files", because my plug-in runs with cudart32_30_14.dll
    in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files"
    Am I right?

    well... that depends.
when you rely on an external library, the external dll is expected to be somewhere along the path, as it appears in the command prompt.
places like win32, and sxs folders are in that path.
you could also put the support dll in the same folder as your plug-in. any process automatically includes it's own directory in the search path.
if you don't want to put it in any of these pre-set locations, then you have to program the path into the dll loading function.
if you choose to do that, you can put the support dll anywhere you like.

  • Where is the "blur kernel" one click deblur in Photoshop CS6?

Where is the "blur kernel” one click deblur in Photoshop CS6? (Pretty sure it’s not there.)
Is deblur still in development? Or was it killed? Is there any status update on the progress of the deblur function? An overwhelming majority of the information available reference the same October 2011 Adobe Max conference demo.
(Adobe showed off the new deblur prototype at its Adobe Max conference in October during a set of feature sneak peeks...)
The way the feature was described was:
"The prototype feature uses a computer algorithm to analyze how the image was blurred and then creates what Adobe called a "blur kernel." After the kernel is generated, it can show you information such as what the motion trajectory of the camera was while the shutter was open -- causing the blur in the first place. The next step is to simply hit a "restore sharp image" button and the photograph is fixed."
It was cited by some sources as being an upcoming Photoshop CS6 feature while other sources were more vague with statements resembling "It's not clear if or when the new unblur feature will make it into a future version of Photoshop, as the company warned all sneak peek features were just prototypes with no concrete product plans."
Where is the latest with the Adobe Photoshop "blur kernel” and the Adobe Photoshop one click deblur feature?

one of the things I think about as an engineer is that in order for something like this to work,  you should probably start with manuals adjustments to processing the the out-of-focus blur first. after you have finished with this, you can do the motion blur.  I would have to really think hard about it to see if there is an algorithm such as a kernel or something to convert an image into a path. one problem is you are stuck with the image boundaries. if they weren't there, things would be so much easier (but it would also take infinitely long to process).  the image boundaries MIGHT skew the kernel, depending on how you handle the boundaries (for example, usually you just assume those values are black or 0's, or you may choose a 50% gray, whatever fits best with the kernel you are working with).
adobe may be on to something there, but they only had half of the equation with the idea.
I used to tinker with image processing many yarns ago back for fun in BASICA/GWBASIC.
    if you have the kernel
    [-2 0 2]
    [-2 0 2]
    [-2 0 2]
which amplifies vertical lines, you would want to handle the boundaries by processing them as 0's.
NOTE TO ADOBE: it might start getting into Machine Vision technology when you start doing the path recognition. or AI.
if you can get the imge into a path kernel, it's essentially a bitmap of a path.  you can trace that path using akima spline curves. (will lose 1-2 samples off each end), but the tracing program might just exist out there somewhere.  just google "bitmap to akima spline curve".  and akima spline curve has all the
points along its path, unlike a bezier. I like akima spline curves, I have been trying to get ps engineers to use them for a while for good reason. this is one of them.
there are also cubic splines as an alternative.
chances are that the curve will have rounded corners due to the weight of the camera.
now that you have the path,it's simply a matter of taking samples along the curve wherever you want. (usually in an array which you can linearly inerpolate across the points in the array for simplicity if you want)
