Where is this for JPG files, not just RAW

Whenever I open a camera RAW image I get this great screen with all of these tools:
Title bar: Camera Raw 7.3
Top bar starts with ZOOM, Hand, White balance tools.
Over on the right side are a number of preset options such as the "Basic", "Tone", "Curve", etc.
(I would upload a screen shot but the insert image feature isnt working).
What I would like to know is how can I get this same screen to open with JPG images or how can I trigger this screen to open?

In Bridge open the file by using cmd/ctrl-R or right click and select "Open in Camera Raw."

How can I implement a check to see if any file exists in a certain directory. I don't know the filename beforehand, only the directory.
Can I still use the FILE EXISTS activity or do I need to write something different.

You can use USER DEFINED activity or FILE EXISTS activity. With file exists you must get file name before (file name can be hard coded or passed as variable). With user defined activity you can make your own shell script and check anything that you need (in this case you must enable property in file $ORACLE_HOME/owb/bin/admin/Runtime.properties property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.Shell.security_constraint = NATIVE_JAVA

Disable "always do this for Picture files from device name " checkbox

Bluetooth users should know well that as you send a file from your remote device to your laptop, there will be a notification on the lower right side of the screen. As you click the notification, it will show a popup window asking for your action.
Now my problem is I seemed to have ticked the checkbox stating "Always do this for Picture files from <my handphone>" while transferring pictures from my handphone to the laptop. I clicked save in folder: <directory>. Now, every time
I transfer pictures to my laptop through bluetooth, it becomes automatically saved into the <directory> and I regret it, I want it to let me choose where to save the file again like previously. How should I do that?

How can I quickly view pdf files like I can do with Windows Picture and Fax viewer for jpg files? I need to look at several thousand PDF files. It takes too long to open each one individually. The only thing I could think of is combining them into large groups and then using the Navigation index. But I like the way windows Picture and Fax Viewer does it because you can keep the files separate. Combining PDFs causes loss of individual file names. That would be a problem since I do need to have the individual file names.

Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is a DLL and is started via a rundll32.exe call and can't be set as an application to handle images in Firefox 3 and later versions.
Try to set Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as the default viewer in Windows, then it should be listed automatically in the Mozilla Firefox Browse dialog.

Looks like this bug was fixed as of yesterday - I'd like to know
when there will be a patch available to users. I bought Flex 3 just

I forgot to mention one point about copying shape layers into one shape layer: when you initially use the Shape Selection tool to select a shape for cutting, make sure the option for the Shape Selection tool is set to "Add to Selection".

Multiple editing in Get Info does not offer an option to change start/stop times.

It’s part of the basic install of OS X. So unless you deleted it then it’s there in your apps folder. If you have deleted it, it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. You will be able to extract the installation package using Pacifist.
Alternatively, if you’re using almost any camera +apart from a Canon+ then the camera card is visible on the desktop and you can drag the movie to the desktop using the Finder and import from there.
No matter what camera you use, if you pop the card from it into a USB Card Reader then it will be accessible via the Finder. Card Readers are inexpensive and all round a better idea.
Why use a Card Reader?
Because it’s safer: Less risk of your images being lost if your camera shuts down during transfer.
Because it saves the battery on your camera
Because it saves wear and tear on your camera ports
Because it’s almost always faster.

Cannot change preference for JPG file to open in browser rather than download Mac OS 10.5.8

I want to view individual jpg files uploaded to my mobileme account. The URL ends in .jpg. I can view the files as webpages in Safari, but with Firefox, my only choice is to download the file. I tried to change the preferences>applications>jpeg picture>to "use other" but the drop down menu goes right back to always ask. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, and restarted my computer. I have two other macs running 10.5.8, and this happens on both. When I type the same URL into my mac running 10.6.3, a dialog box appears that gives me the option of choosing which application to open the file with (in this case Firefox, so that I can view the file in a web page) rather than just downloading the file. The dialog box in the 10.5.8 doesn't give me the option of choosing an app, only "Save File" or "Cancel". I'm sorry if this is long-winded.

BLOB column -- no preview for jpg file

I'm trying to create something close to the sample application with some other products. I have a table with BLOB column for the products jpg files. However, I have encountered the following challenge: the preview is not working.

Well that explains the problem. The url NEEDS to be a viable url to an image -- a procedure needs to be called to (in essence) spit out the blob to a mime-type of jpeg so the browser can display it. Although there are several ways to achieve this -- since you basically see it "working in one place but not another", take a look at how the working image's URL is generated on the page where it's working.. APEX offers an item type that can display an image, but you can also use PLSQL code to insert such in the rendered output anywhere. If none of this helps, there are many hits via google that discuss all of this in the detail you'll need.

Where is this mystery project file?!

I have just opened FCE 4 and staring me in the face was an old project I have not used for a while.
However, what is even more weird is that the title is totally different from what it was and I cannot find this new project file anywhere on my computer with a Spotlight Search.
The original name of the project was +Jacqui"s Yoga+ and that is where it should be.
Note that I had accidentally used quotation marks instead of an apostrophe.
However, the name of this project is +Jacqui"s Yoga12-22-091248+
I never use that low dash symbol.
As I said, I don't know where this title has come from and I can't find the actual project file of that name. When I open the original +Jacqui"s Yoga+ the clips are arranged differently.
Any idea what is going on besides poltergeist?
Can FCE spontaneously create its own project names and how can I find where this new project name file is situated?
Incidentally, the original project is an FCP 6 one!
I'm not saying that I didn't create this "new" project, but I certainly can't remember giving it such a weird name and how can I find where it is?

Well, I have finally found the original ASV file in my FC PRO Documents folder! I had looked there earlier but must have missed it. Still curious as to why Spotlight didn't find it.
I suppose I must have double-clicked it yesterday to open the project, as there is no original project file . . . . but I can't remember doing it!
Maybe I shouldn't have 75 FCE/FCP projects on my iMac simultaneously! Life can get a little confusing.
This type of problem never occurred with my G3 iMac and its 40 GB HD !

Process Multiple Files - Not Renaming RAW to JPG

Im trying to process a few RAW files and convert them to JPG.
The Process raw dialog is set up correct, but it seems after the first image is processed, I am prompted for a location to save the file, and its wanting to be saved as a .psd file and in the same location of the .RAW files...dispite the fact that I have a seperate destination location specified, and despite the fact that I have the settings to convert to >JPG Max Quality.
Any ideas why this may be happening? I am new to elements so im not sure if I am doing something wrong. I modified a RAW file and set my edits as the Camera Raw Default, and I just with to apply these settings to all my RAW files and convert to jpg.

There is a bit of a sequence to follow but this seems to work best.
To convert to jpeg select your raw files in Organizer and click on the Fix tab and choose Full Photo Edit. Wait for Camera Raw to open and click the button Select All (top left) then apply your saved default settings to all the selected images. Keep them all selected and click Open Images (towards bottom right - and select 8 bit as Barbara suggests before clicking that button) to send the selected images into the Editor.
After the Editor opens go to the top menu bar click File >Process Multiple Files.
Set the dropdown for your source to Opened Files then for the destination, check same as source.
At the bottom of the dialog under File Type choose the jpeg quality from the dropdown e.g. Max, High, Medium or Low. Choose your naming convention.
Click OK and leave the program to run (this can take a bit of time as raw files are usually large). When finished close the Editor and return to your folder to see your Jpegs next to your raw files. Or go to your new destination folder if preferred.

How to set the defualt directory of where to look for a file to read

I am reading a file from a servlet. I wanted to see where Tomcat would write the file if I didn't specify a path. The results surprised me. It wrote the file in: "C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Start Menu\Programs\Apache Tomcat 4.1". So I looked through server.xml to see if perhaps this path was set there but didn't find anything. I right clicked on the "Start Tomcat" target to see its properties and there it was. There was a field "Start in:" and it contained the aforementioned path. I changed it to what I wanted but there has to be a way to set this in server.xml. How do I do this. my guess would be something like :
"<Context path="" docBase="c:/theDefaultDirectory" debug="0"/>", but this didn't work. Any light on this subject would GREATLY be appreciatted,

Well, actually, it opens file where the process is currently located on your fileSystem. since you seems to be using windows, the process is started in the directory written in the "Starts In" field. Now you could use the command line (the ugly MSDOS like window), go to some directory and starts the tomcat process from there, and the files would be created in that place.
The docBase tells where tomcat should look when looking for pages (html jsp, etc...). If you want to use it, you can still refers to it as :
new File (yourServlet.getServletConfig().getContextPath("/myfile.txt"))Another track to check would be to look in the System.getProperties. There has to be some property that gives the current JVM path, try to change it to the location you'd like it to be and see if it conforms to how you'd like to see it works.
Still, remember that you can have multiple Context in your servlet container, so there's no reason for tomcat to set the JVM default path to the docBase from one or another (File is a global JVM utility, not a J2EE only feature !!).

Fireworks as default app for jpg files

I was able to configure Fireworks to be the defaul app for jpgs - and when I click on a jpg file in my file manager, - Fireworks launches - but the image file that I clicked on does not open.
I like to be able to find a file using Windows Explorer (using Windows 7) and then click on it to launch in Fireworks - although it worked with 5.5 - it is not working with 6.0.
What am I doing wrong?

I tested this on my Windows 7 system and it worked okay with the method I described. Fireworks wasn't in the list so I had to hit the Browse button and direct it to the Fireworks.exe after which double-clicking a jpeg image opened the image in Fireworks CS6. This functionality is a feature of Windows not the Adobe software. All of the file associations are based off of related Windows registry entries.
Things you could try
1) Specify a different default app like Windows Picture and Fax viewer and then try switching it to Fireworks CS6 again
Not an official Adobe solution, try at your own risk!
2) Try resetting the file assocations to the Windows defaults then associating it again
Had you deleted jpeg previously?

Pixel Bender only available for jpg files?

I'm running Photoshop CS5 on a brand new macbook. Everything has been working fine. I recently installed Pixel Bender and started playing with it. It seems to work fine on .jpg files, but whenever I open any PSD files, (or raw files from my Nikon) the Pixel Bender menu item is grayed out. I'm sure I am doing something wrong, but can't for the life of me figure out what that might be. I read that the filter needs to be applied to a smart object, so I tried creating a new layer and converted it to a smart object. But still the PB menu item is unavailable!! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Mode is RGB and 8 bits.
However, it appears that the problem has gone away. I did uninstall and reinstall the exention. It must have been an anomoly because I can not reproduce the issue. Thanks for your attention to this issue. Regards.
