Where is universal track mode

UTM can no longer be disabled in LPX.

I've been using UTM On (the recommended choice) since Logic 4.x and my busses have always been stereo, just fine.

Universal Track Mode On or Off?

I just read through the Universal Track Mode section(s) in the manual, but am still very much trying to wrap my mind around this subject and obtain a better, more thorough understanding of this particular dynamic and how it relates to a project. Can someone help me with the pros and cons/applications of UTM in the on and off mode?
I know this is a very general(ish) question, and I'm sorry I'm not providing some more specific direction here. This question is more of a starting base from which will hopefully spring a discussion that will help provide me and all others who are interested in this topic a fuller understanding of Logic's UT mode .

Hi, Yildox. Isn't the default itself UTM? i.e. activated, as opposed to NOT activated? As far as I know, UTM allows you to choose an individual track as being stereo or mono. If UTM is not activated, then the track is set to mono, and if you set it to stereo, then it seems to use the NEXT track - regardless if there's any audio region in it or not - as it's next audio channel.
Do a search under Universal Track Mode in the Logic user manual, and it will give you a little bit more info on it.
And what kind of problems are you having with split stereo channels?
Oh . . . and thank you Bee, for the help. As far as I'm concerned, that pretty much settles that. I'll stick with UTM activated and just leave it at that.

No stereo input in logic8, analog or digit., when not in universal track m.

till now , in logic7 , I didnt work in Unversal track mode. When upgrading to logic8 ,its not possible to create a stereo input, analog or spdif,. When I try to record , I cannot see the waveform in arr. window, but when I stop rec. , the record is done. There is no problem in universal track mode,
but I dont want to change because of my older songs. Is there a solution ?

With UTM disabled, only the odd numbered tracks can be made stereo. This is because for a track to be a stereo track with UTM off, it needs the even numbered channel beside it.
If you click on the circle at the bottom of an odd numbered track (1, 3, 5, etc...), making it a stereo track, look at the even numbered track beside it. It no longer exists, because it has now been put to use as the "right" side of the stereo image.
I'm wondering if this is what you are experiencing, and getting confused by...?

Where is the "Motion Tracking Mode" button in PE11?

In PE10 by clicking "Motion Tracking Mode" button i can add a tracking object and click "Track button" to create keyframes. Cannot find this function in PE11. Actually i need to blur patient's eyes and nose. The goal is to show lips and neck movement but hide the personality. To create the keyframes manually is very labor and time consuming. Thanks. MT

I have read elsewhere that "Motion Tracking" was abandoned as being "all but useless" in this release.

Nokia 500 Problem with Tracking mode and touch sc...

I just bought Nokia 500 and I am having lot of problem
1. When I use navigator..it should be in tracking mode not in browing mode so I can see where i am going on where is the turn. But as soon as it calculate the route, withing few second it automatically comes in browsing mode. Even if I press back arrow on left bottom corner it again shows browsing mode. However, sometime it's working fine and always display tracking mode. I am not sure how to switch between the mode. As per manual, I need to hit the back arrow left bottom corner but that does not work for me.
2. The second problem is really bad. The touchscreen response is slow. It looks like the processor is slow. Particularly if I go to Setup menu..it automatically goes to system. I just touch Setup on main menu and sometimes it automatically goes into system. If I manually go to system..it automatically goes to About ..menu. It just behaves randomly..I have done screen calibration many times. but still issue is there. Also, when I got to keyboard to enter address..it automatially press Q key. Not sure what's wrong here
Anybody please suggest me what's wrong. Do I need to replace it with nokia?

How do I get "Motion Tracking Mode" to work? I click the icon and nothing happens, its like greyed out.

Here is my check list for you to review regarding using Motion Tracking Mode in Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7 64 bit.
1. You need a video and with enough motion in the object in it to track it. Color contrast between the object and its background can be important to success.
I created a DV AVI 4:3 in which I have a circle moving, and I have used a butterfly Clip Art from Premiere Elements 10 to track to track the circle as it moves in the video. In this example, you see the object only at 0 time.
2. Select/highlight the clip on the Timeline. And then click on the Motion Tracking Mode icon above the Timeline.
You should next see the following Motion Tracking dialog asking for a Yes or No to the question "Run
Auto-Analyzer to track moving objects?" Click No.
3. At this point, you will see a bounding box on screen. That bounding box should be placed using the mouse cursor on the object
that is going to be tracked, in this case, the circle. Resize and position the bounding box accordingly.
4. Once you have the bounding box on the object and resized, click on Track Object at the top right of the monitor.
The screenshot below shows only the before clicking Track Object at the top right of the monitor.
When that action is finished the bound box edges will be an orange yellow color. I have skipped over a screenshot
for the latter.
5. With the orangel yellow bounding box in place, next drag the Clip Art (in this case, Butterfly 02) from the Clip Art display area toward and into the orange yellow bounding box frame. The orange yellow bounding box frame will turn blue. That is the first sign of success.
Hit the Enter key of the computer main keyboard and watch the results. The Butterfly should track the circle's
movement in the clip. The duration of the clip and the continuity of the object's motion in the clip can be other factors.
If you do not succeed, try again with a different video clip (one with more movement and color contrast.
The above is a best case scenario. If it is speech bubbles that you are having problems with as well, we will deal with them next.
Right now it seems like you are having problems getting started rather than having a problem with a specific Clip Art that you are
using to track the object in your video.

How do I fill a gap with silence, at the beginning of a track, in multi-track mode?

Hey everybody!
I have 2 tracks in multi-track mode ... one is Music and the other is Vocals. The music starts at the beginning and lasts 3 minutes. The vocals don't begin until 10 seconds into the music. I need to insert silence in the beginning of the Vocals, because I will be sending both tracks to a producer and I want the tracks to line up from the beginning. Otherwise, they will have to line up my vocals.

I would just line the vocal track up by sliding the appropriate amount and then right mouse click and bounce that track down to another track and send that one as it will have that 'silence' embedded into the start.

Universal Repeater Mode with Airport Express

Hi all folks,
is something like the universal repeater mode with the new Airport Express 802.11n (2nd) available.
Today I use a Airport Express in the Client Mode to connect to a WLAN and I connect my Mac to the Ethernet Port and the Airport is in Bridge Mode.
This works nice and became available with the AirPort Express 802.11n, my AirPort Express 802.11g can't do this.
On the other hand, I'm interesting in connecting some Macs to the "foreign" WLAN, but all the time I use "Join a wireless Network", I got "Internet Connection" with "Connect Using" "Wireless Network" and "Connection Sharing" "Off (Brifge Mode)" only (same with "Extend a wireless network").
In "Participate in a WDS network" and "WDS remote" the Options for "Connection Sharing" are "Off (Bridge Mode)", "Distribute a range of IP addresses" or "Share a public IP address".
Maybe I'm wrong, but why I can't use this "Connection Sharing" Options with "Join a wireless Network", the Client Mode, too.
In the Bridge Mode I can't separate the two networks well.

The "Connection Sharing" option basically controls the base station's NAT & DHCP functions. By default, Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address. This would enable both NAT & DHCP. When "Distribute a range of IP addresses" is selected, DHCP is enabled, but NAT is disabled. Finally, for "Off (Bridge Mode)," both NAT & DHCP are disabled.
Now depending on which Connection Sharing option you choose, the options for Wireless Mode will change as well. These are all pre-designed by Apple for the most common uses for their base stations for simplicity.

Bad news - There are non (Exactly as in iMovie 1 to HD6 or FinalCut)
Good news - There are sort of - at least project is presented in ONE row.
• Click on a specific iMovie PROJECT
• In this window - top right hand there are two small symbols - one blue three squares and one with two brown red symbols. Click on the three blue squares one.
• to get the Audio - under this there is a small wave like symbol - Click on this.
But still this view has so many quirks that a person familiar with iMovie 1 to HD6, FinalCut, Adobe Premiere and Avid can feel a bit of serious frustration. (at least I do)

Unfortunately if you did not set up 'Find My iPhone', there is no way to remotely track or wipe the device.

Motion Tracking Mode - does this do the "highlighting" I'm trying to do?

I read through the Adobe tutorial/help for this feature. It sounds like this will do the "highlighting/shadowing" of a football player that I'm trying to do.
Has anyone used this feature?
I got some great instruction/suggestions regarding this yesterday (Hunt - your link was very thorough -- but with my low patience tolerance + ADD, I couldn't quite wrap my head around it at 2am!!).
So -- again, Motion Tracking Mode? Any feedback on the feature?

That "arrow method" is one that I cover in this ARTICLE. It can be very effective, and takes far less work than the Track Matte Keying of various Effects. The latter can be very powerful, visually, but does require more work to accomplish.
Good luck, and do check out Muvipix. Lot of good articles, threads, Assets, and more, plus there are a lot of great people, who do not hang out here. Their Community is more varied, and many do not use much Adobe in their various workflows, so it's a great resource, when working outside of the Adobe programs. There are also several subscribers, who to a lot of academic athletic work, so they know some neat tricks.

Tracking mode for RMAN

I want to use tracking mode for rman.
I have created my tracking file to store modified blocks.
The first time i run a backup incremental level 0 and after i create a table.
The second backup is an incremental level 1 and all my datafiles are backuped.
I d'ont understand why.

How many datafiles do you have ?
If you create a table:
- Oracle writes into the dictionary (SYSTEM tablespace): related datafile is updated
- Oracle writes into the tablespace used by the table: related datafile is updated
- Oracle writes some undo information for the dictionary update in the UNDO tablespace: related datafile is also updated.
And you may have some internal background transactions that could also update the SYSTEM and UNDO tablespaces.

These determine whether the address is primary or not, and also what type of address it is.
