Where is Upgrade script Solaris 9iAS 1.0.2.0.1 - 1.0.2.1 ?

The document "Migrating from Oracle9 i Application Server 1.0.2.0" Part No. A88779-01 says:
"Upgrading the Oracle9 iAS Portal Repository Oracle9iAS Portal uses an upgrade
script for migration. The script and further migration instructions are
available at
http://otn.oracle.com/products/iportal "
I do not find that script.

    Richard,
You'll need to have 1.0.2.2 to be installed on the middle tier before performing the upgrade for your portal 3.0.9 upgrade repository on the database end. So that means, you'll need to wait for the Linux download of iAS 1.0.2.2 to be available before beginning your upgrade of the portal repository, assuming that your middle tier of iAS is also on a Linux box.
iAS 1.0.2.2 does indeed include Portal 3.0.9, of which Portal 3.0.9 components will be installed during the upgrade process along with the upgrade of the middle tier. During the upgrade process, the installer (from my personal experience on NT), will notify you that it is performing an upgrade installation of your middle tier, provided that you specified the middle tier's ORACLE_HOME when executing the oracle installer.
Just be sure to read and follow the 9iAS Migration guide before beginning your upgrade of the middle tier to iAS 1.0.2.2. After upgrading the middle tier to 1.0.2.2, the actual upgrade of the portal repository was extremely simple by comparison.
The upgrade of the portal repository took a few hours (my recommendation is to invoke it off before leaving for the evening), and it will leave a detailed logfile for you to peruse afterwards, if you choose).
    Best Regards,
    Harry

  • Upgrade Scripts

We currently have portal 3.0.7.2 and are interested in upgrading to 3.0.9. Are there scripts to upgrade directly or do we need to upgrade to 3.0.8 first? Where would I find any available upgrade scripts? I have checked both technet and metalink with no success. Thanks

    Andre,
You can directly upgrade your portal 3.0.7 to 3.0.9. No need to upgrade it to 3.0.8. You can find the upgrade scripts on OTN.
Remember - There are two steps:
    1. Migrating your middle tier to 9iAS 1.0.2.2. This step is must as the latest version of Portal (3.0.9) is dependant on this.
Please make sure that your existing portal (3.0.7) is working fine with the upgraded middle tier (9iAS 1.0.2.2) even before you attempt to upgrade the Portal to 3.0.9.
    2. Upgrade your Portal to 3.0.9.

  • Upgrading to solaris 8 using a profile file

I have successfully upgraded from Solaris 7 to 8 on an E250, maintaining the integrity of my previous applications. Is there a way to use a profile file so that the upgrade is hands-free? I can do this already via a jumpstart server, but is there a way to do it while booting from the Solaris 8 CD???
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

I've never had any issues with CF8 locking on emails, we send thousands without any issues.
As for the script I have honestly never tried restarting CF from itself, but I'd try calling a Powershell script, which can do the restart in one move:
       get-service | ?{$_.name -match "Coldfusion 8 Application Server"} | restart-service
Haven't tried it but that'd be a good place to start I reckon.

  • Upgrading from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10

    Hi
I am in the process of upgrading from Solaris 8 to 10 on a sparc server.
What I would like to know if anyone has experienced compatibility issues during the upgrade with the Korn and C Shell as well as perl.

Upgrades from either Solaris 8 or 9 are supported (see the Release Notes http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-0552 section on "Changes in Upgrade Support for Solaris Releases").
As for whether to upgrade or install anew, it depends. If you just want to have the system set up as much as possible like it is now except with the new OS, upgrade. If you'd like a chance for a fresh start, where you may have to do some work re-applying configuration and other changes you made, but end up leaving behind some old changes you no longer need, then an initial install might be appropriate.

  • Upgrade from Solaris 10 06/06 to Solaris 10 11/06

    Hi,
    I need to upgrade from Solaris 10 06/06 to Solaris 10 11/06
What's the best way of doing this? I looked up Live Upgrade and regular update.
It seems like an upgrade is exactly the same as a fresh install. Use a DVD and boot from it.
For the Live Upgrade I can upgrade while system is in production.
Shouldn't this type of upgrade (same main release, just updated) be easy, like updating packages or patching the system?
Any comments, maybe I missed something major like upgrading by just adding a few simple packages and rebooting.

When I try an upgrade, I never get prompted to
    upgrade.
I get all the way to the point where it asks which
disk to install to.There are various things that can disable the upgrade option, but the installer is very opaque about what it's doing.
The most common thing is if /etc/vfstab can't be easily parsed to find all the OS filesystems. If there's any strange mounts that aren't OS related, you might want to remove them from /etc/vfstab and just make sure that you preserve the location that the data resides.
You need to have one and only one partition visible on your disks with tag 'root'. I think that confuses the upgrade if there's more than one.
Is the upgrade option after this? From the manuals I
got that all info such as hostname, ip and everything
else should be recognized from previous installs.
But it asks me to input all of these. It's after the host identification section, but at the beginning of the Solaris installation section.
So if it's asking for cluster level or which disks, it's past the point.

  • Upgrade script for 1.0.2.0.1 to 1.0.2.1

Could someone please tell me where to find the upgrade script to go from 1.0.2.0.1 to 1.0.2.1?
    Thanks

9iAS 1.0.2.1.0 software temporarily removed from OTN. Considering customers like you,OTN will restore 1.0.2.1 to the download pages and they should be doing so shortly.
Portal upgrade scripts are already available in otn. Please check the url,
    http://technet.oracle.com/products/iportal/
Please keep track of the latest updates on OTN.

  • Windows NT: 2.2 - 3 upgrade scripts

When will upgrade scripts be available for converting Webdb2.2 to Portal 3.0 on Windows NT.
The FAQ says January. Can you be a bit more specific than that? I need to schedule my effort between multiple clients and some indication would be very useful. I appreciate that things may change. Will the scripts be available this week? The end of the month?

We noticed that the upgrade scripts for Solaris also have the code needed to upgrade NT (i.e. wupgrade.cmd). We tried this, and it seemed to work fine!
While I will not guarantee that it will work for everything (since Oracle has not certified it for this), you could try it. I would suggest you do what we did, which was to move the WebDB instance over to another machine (or at least another instance), and do the upgrade then look at the results to make sure it works before you cut the scripts loose on your production instance.

  • Patching broken in Live Upgrade from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10

I'm using Live Upgrade to upgrade a Solaris 9 system to Solaris 10. I installed the
LU packages from Solaris 10 11/06 plus the latest Live Upgrade patches. Everything
went fine until I attempted to use `luupgrade -t' to apply Recommended and Security patches to the
Solaris 10 boot environment. It gave me this error:

Releases prior to Solaris 10 cannot be used to maintain Solaris 10 and later releases that include support for non-global zones. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get the Recommended patches installed without having to first activate and boot up to 10?

"go" attempts to reboot, but I end up back in the same place.

It seems like the driver for that device does not exist. Since the system installed successfully it means that it S10 did find a disk. I wonder if that was a different disk than the default disk. Please boot to the miniroot and check the disk info.
