Where is user/library in Mavericks?

Where is user/library in Mavericks? I only have the HD/ library or system/library. User/library is gone and I desperately need the firefox bookmark file that was in there. Thanks!

To make the Library folder permently accessible from the Finder, starting with Mavericks, there is a setting in the View options to make the Library folder visible.
Note that will only be shown if you have your home folder opened.

    OK
    Here is a problem:
Last login: Wed Jul 20 21:45:31 on console
login(5262,0x7fff755a5960) malloc: *** error for object 0x7fc1fd200980: pointer being freed was not allocated
*** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug
    [Process completed]
my terminal willnot take an input
    Now what?
    Follow UP ---
I fixed the terminal error by repairing disk permissions...
Now I can see my users library, and I'm happy again.
Why would Apple choose to hide the Library in Lion?

  • Where is user library?

I can't seem to find my user library... I have looked in all the obvious places. Any suggestions?

You didn't complete a profile so we don't know what version of OS X  you are using. However instructions for Lion and Mountain Lion are in:
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
Please complete  your profile so the next time you post we have a little bit of knowlege about your system. It makes it easier for you and espcially those trying to help you.

  • Where is user library folder

After insatlling Lion, I no longer have a user library folder, whats up with that?

It's hidden.  For that and some other things you may stumble over, see:  Changes in Lion from Snow Leopard.

  • No user library in Maverick

Maverick downloaded and installed. No problems found with installation process.
But - there is no 'Library' under "user" - should this be so?
With exception of Suitcase Fusion 5 all applications appear to be functioning properly.

Yes. Apple chose to hide it starting with Mac OS X 10.7.

Where did the "library" folder at the users level go?

    Ziatron wrote:
Following the lead from Windows, it's now hidden.
Users are not qualified to use the library anyway.
When it's following the Windblows lead, there should also be an option to revert this, to be able to switch the hidden files back to visible. Haven't been able to find that option yet.
Furthermore, I despise your remark about users not being qualified. When I buy something I have all rights using any and all part of it. Whether that's a sensible choice for each and every user is a whole other question, but to treat all users as one dumb-*** group is not good (IMHO).

  • No User Library? Where is the Mail.plist and Mail stored?

I have installed Lion on an external USB 2.0 HD and want to copy over my Mail folder and mail.plist from my iMac's internal HD.
I've copied them but don't know where to put them as there appears to be no User Library folder?

We never found out why they hid the user library but not the main library.
I can't remember helping anybody fix anything that they accidentally removed from the Library, but I sure told a lot of people how to fix stuff by digging into the Library.

Where is the Library in the users folder?

NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Where is mail data stored in 10.9.4? Mail works fine, but there is no data in Users/Library...?

Where is mail data (all messages) stored in 10.9.4?  Mail works fine, but I cannot find the data to back it up. It is NOT in Users/Library..(In fact, my User folder has no Library folder at all)..?

    Exposing the /Home/Library/ Folder
Pick one of the following methods:
    A. This method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
    Press RETURN.
    B. Click on the Desktop, press the OPTION (⌥) button, select Library from the Finder's Go menu.
    C. Select Go To Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Paste the following in the path field:
    ~/Library
    Press the Go button.
The data are in your /Home/Library/Mail/V2/ folder.

  • Where is the user library folder

Where did Apple put the users' "Library" folders in Lion?! If they no longer exist, where should I go to find the user's "Application Support" folder (which I always used to find in the user's "Library"). Am I missing something? Am I blind? I never used to have this trouble. I need to change the default file for a program and that file resides in the "Application Support" folder within the user's "Library" folder (at least, it always used to reside there!)
I can't seem to find anything about this in the help files that come with my computer.

    To Find Library folder
    In Finder...
    Press and hold Option key
Click Go on the menu bar
    Choose Library

  • Where did the User Library folder go?

I installed OSX 10.7 yesterday and was quite excited to do so, and by day two I am regretting it.  whether it is the uslessness of launchpad, to all of the old things i find missing.  One thing i just noticed was that i cant find is the User Library folder.  The system Library folder is there but not the user.  am i missing something?  oh and getting rid of front row?  why?  i watched trailers there all the time!...sorry sorry...off topic.  grr
Lion 5 out of 10 Stars

    Use the following:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library/
Generally, ~ should be used instead of manually providing the home folder path.

  • My iPhoto has disappeared on my administrative side but other users have it. How can I get it back? And where did my Library go?

    I have a MacBook Air OSX 10.9.5
I am the administrator on this lap top.  We have iPhoto on my husbands side still, but I can't find my iPhoto in my applications folder. This Mac did not come with a disc drive so I do not have a back up for the application.  Also, where did my library go?  PLEASE HELP!!

If you husband has it then everyone has it. It would not be in your Applications folder, but the Applications folder at the top level of the disk.

  • Where are Mail folders in [User]/Library?

I get (but hate) Apple's striving for minimalism, but am I correct that it's now impossible to access Mail folders in the  [User]/Library?
    There must be a solution.

    Here's the answer:
This solved my question by stuartj257  on Dec 8, 2012 11:35 AM
The On My Mac mailboxes are stored at "~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/". The Library folder is hidden since OS X Lion, so use the Finder's "Go To Folder" menu in the "Go" menu and enter that address.

  • Where has the User Library gone in Lion?

The User Library, ~/Library, is no longer viewable in a normal Finder window.
How does one access it now?
There are times when I want access to it to make a copy of my Address Book database, empty the User cache or in transferring data from an old computer to a new one without using the Migration Assistant.
There must be a way other than using Terminal... I hope.

    Finder>GO  hold option key
Additional note, since this doesn't say what should happen...  Holding the option key while clicking the Go menu in the Finder causes a Library item to appear.  Choose that to open the hidden user Library folder.
chflags nohidden ~/Library/ && killall Finder
There is no need to "killall Finder" to make this work.  Simply doing "chflags nohidden ~/Library" is sufficient.
