  • WHERE ON MY COMPUTER DO I FIND THE USER SPECIFIC SUPPORT FILES FOR FIREFOX?

I am unable to print anything from the web. When I change user names, I am able to print. I called apple computer and they located the problem to be in the specific support files in firefox, but could not tell me where to find them. I am told that if I can find the specific support files, I can cure my problem. Currently, when I try to print, nothing happens and if I try to make a pdf of anything on line, it is blank when opened. Firefox used to work just fine.

    Hi massurfer,
I am not sure that you need regedit, but this might be helpful,

This explanation of customizing localstore.rdf looks possibly helpful as well:

  • Where on the computer do ipad photos go??? Please hlp!

I'm returning the wireless ipad for the 3g and am trying to move all my data --- I did a backup, but I know that the backup doesn't include pictures ... Where on my computer do I find the pictures that are on the ipad???

Open iTunes. Sync your iPad. When its done syncing, click on the iPad symbol on the list on the left side of the screen on the column. Next, note above, several tabs; information, Music, Movies, etc. Also up there is Photos, I think the last tab. On that, you can select to Sync with a specific folder on your hard drive. On mine, I create a folder in my Photos main folder. I called it iPod Photos. In there, I also have sub folders I organized my photos by, thus my Photos folder for iPod is huge and tons of folders for all my organized photos, so when I sync my device, I can then update all that is on the device. I do this with the iPhone as well.
If you have a Mac, you can use iPhoto. I havent learn to sync that way yet. If you do not have a Mac computer you are syncing with, then you need to go with the Folder route.
Also, when you add photos to your iPad, they will auto-sync to your Photos folder on your computer, (when you set it up with a folder and activate syncing Photos).
    Hope that helps.

  • I need a script that will find the computer a user last logged into.

I am still learning scripting, I need a script that will allow me to pull in usernames from a csv file. Find what computer they last logged into and output that to an csv file.
I have looked all over and can't find exactly what I need.
I found the following script but I need  to add the resuitsize unlimited but can not figure out where to put it we have a large environment. Also I need to be able to grab username from a csv file. Any assistance you can provide is appreciated.

    ForEach ($p in $proc) {
    $temp = ($p.GetOwner()).User
    if ($temp -eq $Username){
    write-host "$Username is logged on $Computer"

If you are querying by user "resultset size" will be of no use.
You also have functions that are never used and the body code doe snot look for users.
Here is what you scrip looks like if printed well.  It is just a jumble of pasted together and unrelated items.

My iPod 5th gen will not completely turn on it shows the apple symbol then shuts off I have restarted it and tried to plug it into my computer but cannot find it to restart it
Its been like this for awhile and I can not fix it

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?

I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  (My new compute runs Windows 8.1) How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?  Is this possible or do I have to use the procedure of copying the catalog along with the photos to a back up hard drive and then restore them on the new computer?

The 'normal' procedure is to do a PSE organizer backup (not a copy or a backup from external tools) to an external drive, then a restore to the new location.
The advantage is that you have a backup of both catalog and media files and you don't have all disconnected files, which would happen with external backup tools. Also, if you restore with a more recent elements version, the catalog will be automatically updated to the new format.
The drawback in your situation is that you'll have either to overwrite all your files or restore to a custom location, creating a duplicate photo library (which supposes you have enough free space).
It would be possible to simply use the organizer in the old PC to move the catalog to a new 'custom' folder just under your C: root drive. The catalog would be accessible once the drive will be installed in the new PC. Then you would have all files 'disconnected' due to the fact that all your media files are now on a drive with a different letter. Reconnecting a whole library is a hard job with PSE6, less so with PSE11/PSE12.
If the idea of fiddling with the sqlite database with external sqlite manager tools is ok for you, I can describe the process more in detail. You only copy your catalog folder (as suggested above) to another location. Instead of trying the 'reconnection' way, you install the sqlite utility on the new computer. When the old drive is installed in the new computer, you simply edit a given record in the catalog database, catalog.psedb, and start the organizer with your copied catalog by simply double clicking the 'catalog.psedb' file.
Even if the last solution is much, much quicker, I would still create a new PSE backup : you have never too much safety .

iPad requires Wifi (or 3G /LTE) to connect to the Internet. You cannot connect a USB modem to the iPad.
You can create your own WiFi hotspot through your computer for your iPad to connect to, if your computer supports this functionality. All Wifi Macs and many Wifi PCs do. Check your computer manual for how to do it.

  • Where is it documented that getResource() will find data in the jar?

Hello, if I package data in the .jar that is different than .class, then it was posted here a while ago by atomguy, that the following code will work
    URL url = getClass().getResource("/Your/Filepath/inthe/Jar");
My question is, where does it say so? The rationale for my question is, this may work now, but if it is an undocumented feature, then one day when my customer downloads some future Java version, it might not work anymore. So I want to know that this is a documented feature before I use it, as such features are far less likely to be changed by Sun (backwards compatibility).
I read the documentation on getResource(), ultimately this seems to be delegated to ClassLoader instance getResource(), I read that doc too, and I don't see where it implies that it will produce a URL that I can then use to access the data file in the jar, for sure.
Please point me where in the docs it follows from.
    Thank you,
    Mark

I'm no expert, but I would say it is a documented feature that a classloader searches for and loads classes that the JVM needs - it's in the JLS and Sun JVM specs. It's documented that getResource() calls the object's classloader getSystemResource() and returns the URL for the named resource.
If you put resources in places where the classload finds classes, then those resources will be found by the same classloader. Any jar (or any directory) that contains classes that have been loaded MUST be in the search path of the classloader. (I am assuming the bootstrap classloader - if a custom classloader is used, then it might not behave the same.)

  • When I transfer photos from my camera to my computer, where does the computer store them?

When I transfer photos from my camera to my computer, where does the computer store them?

Assuming you're using iPhoto 09 or later.
By default the photos are stored in the iPhoto Library in your Pictures Folder.
The iPhoto Library is a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. This is a simple protection from users inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Want to look inside?  Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Standard Warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things,, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
As an FYI: There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Trying to get icloud, installed snow leopard, now it says I need OSX, but my processor isn't right for it. Is this possible? Do I need to buy a nw computer? will I loose all my mobile me storage?

You will lose the entire contents of your iDisk whether or not you migrate to MobileMe as there is no equivalent in iCloud and MobileMe will be terminated at the end of June. You will need to download any data which you don't have on your Mac already.
Snow Leopard is not compliant with iCloud and most of the facilities will not work. You can migrate from MobileMe to iCloud at http://me.com/move even with Snow Leopard: when asked to confirm that your Mac is running Lion just lie and say 'yes'. Of course you won't be able to access iCloud directly from your Mac.
If you have MobileMe mail set up to collect mail from external POP accounts you should cancel this before migrating, or you may find it still working in iCloud (where it isn't supposed to) and with no way of stopping it.
This will be the situation with Snow Leopard when you have migrated:
Your email, calendars, and 'Find my iPhone' will be migrated to iCloud. Contacts and Bookmarks cannot be migrated from a Snow Leopard Mac.
Your iDisk, together with website hosting and Gallery, will continue to work as before until next June.
Syncing of Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items and Keychains between Macs, and Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, System Preferences, Signatures & Smart Mailboxes between Macs & iOS devices, will cease altogether.
You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).
There are a couple of third-party solutions which may be of interest.
BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion. A single user licence (two machines allowed) is $49.99.
Soho Organizer can sync Calendars and Contacts with iCloud on Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. A single user licence (multiple machines allowed) is $99.99.
