Where on Nano is option for "sound check"

I have a brand new Nano, 3rd generation, 8GB and want to use the "Sound Check" option described in the manual.
I checked this option in Itunes, under Preferences> Playback to automatically adjust playback volume to the same level. The manual indicates this must also be done on the Ipod. I can't find the menu option on the Nano.
I've looked under Settings and these are my choices: About - Shuffle - Repeat - Main Menu - Volume Limit - Backlight - Audio books. I tried "Volume Limit" but that only is for "locking" the volume, not adjusting each song.
Any ideas?

1)- Turn on the iPod
2)- Scroll down & select "Settings"
3)- Scroll down to "Sound Check" & click on it

  • Where do I find options for virus checking downloads - I get a message telling me to change options with each download

When I download software or files the Downloads window opens, the file downloads and is virus scanned and then a message appears telling me:
"Download Statusbar: Anti-Virus Scan failed to start, check configuration"
I had an options facility when I first set up Firefox where there were several options available - I believe the virus check facility was the last tab.
I think I had an option box which allowed me to tick a check box to scan on download but I can no longer find this option box. Please can you advise the route to it?

I would be grateful if anyone could offer any suggestions on how to fix an audio issue with exporting video from Photoshop.
I am choosing the quicktime format however the option for sound is alwas greyed out.  from the animation panel I have the audio enabled and I can hear it when I play back from within Photoshop.
I am using Photoshop CS4 extended on PC Windows 7
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    I understand the following -
For audio I need to choose Quicktime format
Photoshop is primarily image editing software (with video capabilities)

Here is a past post, hope this helps.

    JP,
I do not have my CS5 Extended handy, so will go from the Premiere Pro (Adobe's video editor) side of the street. Bear with me on this, as PS-Extended might do things a bit differently.
When one is Exporting an AV file, there are two things that must be set:
Exporting both Audio & Video (in PrPro, these are done via checkboxes in the Export>General dialog screen)
Then, one must set Multiplexing * on the Export>Multiplexing dialog screen, to anything but "None." The choice is usually "DVD."
It's the Multiplexing Tab, that many miss. If set to None, then there will be two separate Export files - one for the Video stream, and one for the Audio stream.
Hope that gets you close, and sorry that I cannot open things up, and give you the exact screens and tabs in PS-Extended.
    Hunt
    * Multiplexing is the combining of both the Audio & Video streams into a single, discrete file. Multiplexing is usually OFF by default, though in PrPro, it's a "sticky," in that it retains the last setting, so if the user wishes to make a change, they must do so manually, and that setting will then stick, until changed again. The Export of separate files for Audio & Video is most often used, when one is doing the Export to go to a DVD, or BD authoring program, like Adobe Encore. It works best with elemental streams, rather than muxed files, and especially with MPEG Audio.

where is the none option for billing in Apple ID?

If you are trying to create a new account you need to:
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

If you already have an account, on a computer go to iTunes>Store>View Account and sign in and see if there is a None option.

  • Best export option for Sound Designer

    Hi everyone,
I am working on a new short film and I am working with a Sound Designer and composer.  We want to create a 5.1 mix for the film (which I have never done before).  So I am trying to figure out what would be the best export option for him to work with to make his life easier.
Providing him with just a ProRes export won't help him match up to my cuts in the time line since he doesn't use FCP X.  So my thought is that we will have matching files and folder structure for both video and audio before I start editing.  But what I am not understanding is once I have a complete rough cut, how do I get him a cut list so that he can totally match up my cuts with the same audio files on his system?
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

See this pic for an example of how my exports turn out:
    http://www.brettmichaelwiesman.com/temp/qtexport.jpg
First off, the titling style is not ideal for DV (or DVD). That is, your font should be a bit fatter (or, at least, bold) and perhaps 1-2 point sizes larger. (This is all because the DV codec makes titles look like s--t if the font size is small and narrow)
Also, for your LiveType files, make sure FCP is interpreting your alpha channel correctly. For every LiveType file placed in your timeline, select it, then press Command-9 to bring up the Item Properties dialog. In the column for Alpha, make sure it says it says Black. If, for instance, it reads Straight, Control-click [right-click] on Straight, then select Black from the contextual menu. You should notice your text 'popping out' a little more. You'll have to re-render, of course.
Also, in QuickTime Player, press Command-, (that's  + comma) to bring up QT's preferences. Make sure that the box for Use High Quality Video Setting when available is checked. (In order to get this working, it's probably best to set this, then restart QT - or close, then open, all movies). With the High Quality flag always used, your titling should always look better in QT player. (That is, there is no change made to your actual file, but at least when previewing, you'll get a better idea of things)
After you've made these changes, export as you were (Current Settings) and let us know if you see any improvements.

  • IPhone4 Dock Connector Not Showing As Option For Sound Output

    Hey All,
I'm using an iPhone 4 Dock Connector to output sound (via 3.5 mm cable) to a stereo.  This has been working for over 5 months, but all of a sudden it doesn't show up as an option for output from the AirPlay button.
I tried a friend's 4S and it worked for him.  I also cleaned out the pin connector area on the iPhone as there was a small amount of lint in there (from being in my pocket), but that didn't fix the problem either.
    Any suggestions would be welcomed.

  • Quality options for sound file conversions

Before purchasing this application I'd like to know more about the quality of the algorithms used for conversions such as
Dither options for bit depth conversion
    Conversion of sample Rates
as well as whether LE supports 96K Hz and 192K Hz recording.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I am not 100% sure about LE, but usually it is the same basic program as Logic Pro, which can do all these things. You have 1 POW-r dithering and 2 POW-r noise shaping algorithms, and sample rates up to 192 kHz (which i won't recommend in any case, though, unless you have a bat's ears). 192kHz drains heavily on the system ressources, and you should have a very good reason to make recordings with such a high sample rate. Usually, 44.1 kHz (or 48kHz for video production) is the maximum even a well trained and critical ear will hear, and the reasons for going higher than that are of a more academical nature. But i guess you know this discussion?

  • Where is the import option for "Start a new clip at each scene break" in iMovie 2013?

I am currently in the process of importing several mini-DV tapes via firewire into iMovie 2013. I have the most recent version of iMovie and am using a Sony Handycam to facilitate the transfer. The problem I am having is that when I hit import, iMovie splits what is supposed to be a single scene into multiple scenes ranging anywhere from a second to 5 minutes. I am left with several scene chunks that I cannot combine into one. I did a little research and found that iMovie is probably deinterlacing my scenes as it mistakes them for multiple scene breaks. In the older iMovie options, all I had to do was to go to "Preferences" -> "Import" -> then deselect "Start a new clip at each scene break". However, this option doesn't appear to be available in iMovie 2013. Is there a way I can force iMovie 2013 to import a single scene from my mini-DV camcorder without breaking it into multiple clips? Thanks!

1st : this is the wrong forum, this is iMovie for ipod/iphone and ipad ( iOS is the OSX mobile Operating System )
2nd : iMovie 11 is the current OSX version.  iMovie 06 was the last of its kind, all newer, including iMovie 09 have complete new workflow, so functions of 06 are gone and have replaced with others.

  • Internal volume not showing up as an option for sound

About two months ago I downloaded OS X Yosemite and everythign was working great until a week ago. The volume on my macbook pro retina would be on permant mute and I wouldnt have the option to turn back on the sound. I looked around and found out how to reset my PRAM, i did this once and it worked find. Now it is happening again and when I reset the PRAM it does nothign to help with the volume. Any other suggestions?

You haven't mention this. So I assume you have gone into System Preferences>Sound and made sure that Internal Speakers are selected and the Mute Checkbox is unchecked? Just selecting Internal Speakers in the first tab "Sound Effect" is not enough. You should set Internal Speakers under the "Output" tab and Internal Microphone under "Input" tab. When plugging into external speakers, this will change automatically to External Speakers. Sometimes you may have to reset these tabs back to Internal, manually. Hope I helped if you have not already done this.

  • Where are the accessibility options for the "Down-Level" items

I have an animation I've created (that I haven't cleared with my client yet, so I, unfortunately, cannot share a link).  However, the client is government and there is a strict requirement for 508 compliance or "Accessibility."  I have been able to get alt tags throughout the main animation with no problems and tabindexing too.  The agency is still using IE8 with Chrome as their solution to newer HTML5 content.  Because of this we have experienced that most will look at the product in IE8 first.  This brings me to requiring a "Down-Level" page.  On this page I have placed an image with a description to upgrade, but the image MUST have an alt tag.  How can I accomplish this?  There is no Accessibility area in Down-level and in making varying entries to the "index_preloader.js" file I have been unsuccessful (I've tried title: '...', and alt: '...' and ['...'] and many other combinations.  Please help!
I wish I could share the link.  I am willing to run a web based remote session using Join.me or similar, if you'd like to take a look.
Any help or suggestion(s) is/are VERY MUCH appreciated!  Thank you.

    Hi Sheila,
Yes, the Distiller joboptions. We are using Distiller 9, 8, and 7 that comes with the Adobe Acrobat software. We are all on Windows XP and 7. I'm not very familiar with the joboptions, so I'm not an expert on how all of this works.
One writer said she is using the PDFX4 2007 job option, which appears to be the default with Framemaker 9. I think these files are hidden and only the customized options can be saved.

  • Where to run clean buffers for performance checking

Hi, we run 2012 std and a new proc that produces an xml result has finally started to show some performance issues.  It started happening after another source table was added 2 the query.
Because the source db is a replicated db, we store/run the proc from a different db on the same server/instance.  On which db do I want to run dbcc dropcleanbuffers (for apples 2 apples) while trying 2 recreate the issue?

It started happening after another source table was added 2 the query.
Can you post the query and related table/index DDL for quick assistance?

  • Equaliser, Sound Check and Volume make no difference to the Shuffle!

    Hi there
I want to boost the volume of my First Generation iPod so it will sound pretty good on my passive speakers.
However, I notice that adjusting the volume on the iTunes file and adjusting the equaliser makes no difference when playing the shuffle back!!
Also Ive discovered along the way that, although there is an option for sound check, it does nothing either!!
Why put a 'Sound Check' box in the option if it makes no difference?!
Also, how can I boost the output of my shuffle. I cant seem to get the shuffle to 'read' tracks I have modified!
    Tc

You didn't mention adjusting the volume using the control button on the front of the shuffle. I'd expect you'll need to run it up to maximum. Even then, I have my doubts about how much volume you'll be able to get out of even mini desktop passive speakers, although I know they're sold.
If you tried enabling Sound Check (both in iTunes and the shuffle's settings) and adjusting the volume in the song's Info/Options, I wouldn't expect an audible difference since they'd work to cancel each other out.
I've never tried the equalizer at all, but in the past I've used the volume adjustment in a song's Info/Options to adjust for differences between songs. It worked for me, for that purpose. I haven't tried it as an overall volume boost, though.
A utility like MacMP3Gain does a bit better job of normalizing song to song volume than Sound Check, to my ears. I haven't included a link to the program, since this board has disallowed that in the past. It's pretty easy to find, though.
That said, these days I'm just using Sound Check and from time to time tweaking the results with the shuffle's front button. But that's a different application than yours.
    Good luck

  • Reinstalled iTunes - "Sound Check" option no longer effective

I've always used and liked the "Sound Check" option in iTunes. Recently, due to 13-year-old hijinx, my library became corrupt. I uninstalled iTunes, downloaded the most recent version, and reinstalled it. I assumed the "Sound Check" option defaulted to "off", so I proceeded to add all my music folders to create a new library in the newly installed iTunes. Then I realized the "Sound Check" option was actually turned on - why I don't know, since I hadn't switched it on. I had assumed after the "add music folders" process I would turn on "Sound Check" and iTunes would read the music files to obtain the volume (usually a several hour process with my 6000+ songs). But it never did read the files. And now, even though "Sound Check" is on, it doesn't seem to me that the songs play at the same level. I've tried switching "Sound Check" off and then turning it on again to no avail. Is there a way to manually force iTunes to re-listen to the music files to re-set the levels for "Sound Check"? -Murray

hmmmmm. this is going to be experimental. (because i've never seen the problem i'm checking on manifest in quite this way before.) but in theory, it could help identify the cause.
Sound Check is an itunes preference. sometimes we get cases of preferences refusing to change for folks because one of the itunes preference files has gone skunky in some way. so it's plausible that you've got a preference file gone bad here.
let's try an experiment aimed at seeing if this might be the cause of the problem in your case.
    quit itunes.
head into your user accounts control panel and create a new user account with full administrative rights. (there's help documentation on how to do that at the left of the control panel screen.) while you're in that control panel, switch off "fast user switching" in your logging-on preferences.
now log out of the old account and log into the new account.
    launch itunes.
import some music into the (currently empty) library in the user account. (perhaps a couple of different albums with fairly wildly different recording levels.) listen to them with Sound Check on, and with Sound Check off.
does sound check make a difference in the new account?
(there's a different set of preference files in the new account and the old account, which is why a preference problem in one account usually doesn't affect preferences in a different account, and why this experiment may indicate the preference files are at fault in the old account.)

  • System preferences in iMac for sound output shows only headphones. How do I change this to get sound through computer? Thanks.

In sound System preferences on iMac  headphones is only option for sound output. How do I change this to get sound output through computer, as in a video etc. Thanks.

There is a switch in the jack that may be stuck. Try plugging and unplugging a headset plug into the socket a few times.
You might try dipping the headset plug into some pure alcohol, wiping it nearly dry, and repeating the process to clean/clear the socket.
