In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • Where is the store menu to authorize a computer?

The tutorials say to go to the store menu and it will say "authorize this computer".  I cannot find a store menu.  I have looked everywhere that I can think of and nothing works.  iTunes is always frustrating but this is an especially frustrating experience as I accidentally deleted everything on my ipod and really want it back.  All the songs that came from CDs are lost to me for several months as I'm moving and everything is in storage and until I can authorize this computer my iPod has 16 songs on it.
    Thank you!

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

any ideas on this one - i am slowly loosing the will to live:(

After opening iTunes, you will find a button at the top left corner of the window, so press it. Then, you will see the Store menu or an option to authorize the PC. Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5610

  • HT1420 Where is the store menu in iTunes.  I just got a new computer.  I disconnected the old computer and want to authorize the new one.  There is no file menu or store menu anywhere I can see.

Where is the store menu in iTunes?  I updated my computer and want to authorize it.  I deauthorized the old computer (and probably my desktop at a different location, and want to authorize the new one.  The help says that I need to clickon the store menu in iTunes.  I do not see any store menu.  I can access songs that I purchased a while back, but cannot download any new purchases.  If I cannot get this worked out, how do I recoup my money for the new songs?  Also, can I transfer the songs I purchased to another service?  Brad

It's in the same spot on a Windows machine as well

  • Where is the "check for purchases" link in the store menu?

I purchased music, and it shows up in my purchase history, but it didn't download. iTunes support told me to click the "check for purchases" link in the store menu, but for some reason (maybe I'm blind), I can't find it anywhere--can someone please tell me exactly where to look on the page? Thanks!

I opened my eyes, and lo and behold, there it was, on the top of the screen the store MENU, not the iTunes store page. Duh.

  • Where is the store menu on itunes

I was told to deauthorize all computers because I had five computers using Itunes. Now I cannot find a way to authorize my new computer. Support says use the store menu and click authorize computer....well it does not seem to exist on my new imac. Any suggestions?

    Hey kerrin l!
I have an article for you that will help you find the correct menu so that you can authorize your computer for your Apple ID:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
To authorize a computer using your Apple ID
    Open iTunes
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

  • Where us the "Authorize this computer" choice on the Store menu

I read all the instructions that I could find and cannot find it on my iTunes application
It is realy frustrating since I just installed the new iPhone SW version as prompted by the App Store and all my previously dawnloaded Apps stopped working after the rebooting.  Now I have to reinstall all of them fromm the phone itself, rather than by sinchronizing them with the computer.
    I have iTunes 10.6.1.7

It's in the Store menu at the very top of the iTunes application window.

  • HT1420 I have a newer version of iTunes and the Store Menu doesn't have anything about authorizing, etiher at the top of the bottom of the screen.  Help!

My version of iTunes on my new Mac Mini does not have any menu at the Store button other than some items refering to iPhones or Ipads, and then what you want to search for, such as books, etc.  Where do you find the "authorize" info on this newer version of iTunes?  Nothing copied and pasted in the previous helps looks anything like my iTunes store.  I have an iPod full of music from my iTunes on my previous computer that I'd like to have on this one.

You are looking at the Store menu at the top of iTunes e.g.
On iTunes 11 you can also enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S so that it looks more like previous versions.
