Where's All My music gone?? Nooooo

Hi,
Any help here will be more than appreciated.
My 30gb Ipod photo, had been playing up for a little while, by that I mean, it used to skip songs a lot and used to come up with that sad icon or folder icon.
Then one day, it decided to completely lose the plot. The ipod still starts fine and maintains it's charge fine, but there is no music on there. I had give or take 3000 songs on there, and somehow all of the music is gone. The thing is, on the 'about' title of the ipod and when i plug it into a computer, it says there is 17gb used and 11gb remaining. My photo's are still there (they would only be taking up 1 - 2 gb of space max), but just no music. So I presume it's still on there, but some reason i can't get to it. The painful thing for me is, my computer recently got stolen with ALL my music on there, so reloading the music on there is not an option. I have tried resetting it, disk mode and all other trouble shooting methods but to no avail.
Is there any suggestions about what my next options could be? Is there any option? Remembering, that my music is not backed up anywhere.
Thanks heaps to whoever helps me out.
Cheers
Tom

I'm having the exact same problem. I use a program called ipodrip to take songs from my iPod to my computer. If the iPod cannot be read my iTunes then an error message comes up in ipodrip and says something about hard ripping the music. Choose this option and it will start taking all the music from your iPod to your computer.
Hope this helps.

  • Recovering music purchased on the touch (Where has all my music gone?)

I've purchased about 30 or so songs from the iTunes store that you can get on your iPod touch, and this morning when I turned on my iPod during class, all that music was gone.
How can I get all that music back since I purchased it on my Touch, since it was never saved to a computer, just the touch?

Load Itunes and log into your account then go to your account history and report the problem for each song to Apple and they may allow you to download them again. Keep in mind I said "May" as it's your responsibility to backup your songs.
This is a known bug and I wouldn't be purchasing anymore songs over wifi until Apple fixes this problem.

  • Where has all my music gone?

I recently got a new laptop and when I downloaded iTunes and logged into my apple ID, I backed up my phone to the Cloud. Then I synced my phone with this new iTunes. Now I have no music, but all my voice memos are saved as songs. How do I get my music back? (or just find the Cloud again?)
    Thanks

    Hello,
I would love to assist you with this issue!
This is a common issue with an easy fix, luckily enough for you! Open iTunes on your computer and click 'iTunes Store" then on the right hand side you will see a tab named "Purchased". (Different from your Purchased tab in your Library) Then, you should see all the music you have purchased on your account. You can then click download songs to download them.
If you have any other issues, please feel free to respond to this message and I will answer ASAP.
    Regards,
    Jake

  • Just upgraded to ios7 and want to listen to BBc Global news podcast as I do every single morning and it is not there - where have all my podcasts gone? If I had known this would happen I would NEVER have upgraded.. Help!

Just upgraded to ios7 and want to listen to BBc Global news podcast as I do every single morning and it is not there - where have all my podcasts gone? If I had known this would happen I would NEVER have upgraded.. Help!

As of iTunes 11.1 and iOS7, podcast files will no longer play in the Music app on the iPhone (this is very annoying, but that's the way it is).
The two easiest options are probably:
What Apple wants you to do: download and install their free Podcasts app onto your iOS device. In theory your podcasts, including the BBC news one, should sync onto the Podcasts app. This is supposed to "Just work", and if it just works for you, well, congratulations, but that certainly doesn't seem to be the case for most posters in this forum.
What I'm leaning towards: for all podcasts in iTunes, Get Info, and change them from "Media Kind = Podcasts" to "Media Kind = Audiobook". That will allow them to sync to the Music app. Then you'll have to arrange smart playlists or whatever to sync those (ex-)"podcasts" to your Music app.

  • Help! Where has all my storage gone? iPhone 4

    Hi,
Ive recently had a replacement Iphone for the one that I had lost. My old phone had over 900 songs on it and about 70 apps and i still had around a gb free. Since ive had my new phone ive backed it up from Icloud and lost a lot of space. I only have 279 songs on it and 53 apps and i have no space left. Im confused. I have an 8gb Iphone 4 which runs version 5.1.1. Where has all my storage gone and how do i get it back.

You should have 13 GB available after the iOS and the Apple Apps ...The rest is yours to fill.  If you connect to iTunes you will see a graphical representation of how your iPhone's storage is currently consumed.  Also you could Reset the phone and check the available space again. Hold Sleep / Wake button down and the Home key at the same time until the Apple logo appears, then release the buttons and wait until the Reset brings you back to the lock-screen.
    "Other" can include...
    Browser cache

    iTunes Backups
Crud resulting from jailbreaking your iDevice
    Game data

  • HT4847 When I open itunes my icloud icons are gone. Where is all the music that I have in icloud?

I opened my itunes library today to find that my icloud icons are not there. Where do I find all the music that I have stored in icloud??

Not all content types are available in all countries - in each country Apple can only sell what they are licensed to (and in some cases what a country's laws allows them to). A list of what is available where is shown on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599

The only remaining thing to do, which may actually be easy, is to extract the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to another computer, either using an external enclosure, or using a 2.5" to USB HDD connector. Both are available at stores like Newegg.com

  • After syncing iphone 4s all previous music gone

Hi - I recently uploaded some CDs to my itunes library and the synced my iphone 4s. Now, all the music that WAS in my library is gone from my computer and from my iphone. I searched my PC - none of them are there, not in the recycle bin either. And they are not in the cloud either. In fact there is not even a music folder in my icloud. This represent ALL of the music I had on my library since about 2007.
I have exhausted every search for help in Apple support and otherwise. Please help.
Note: I am not a novice with computers, but I admit that I find iTunes confusing.
Note: I also have an original apple TV, which still has most of the original music.
    Thank you.

Me too.  If I sync again, and during the sync, drag and drop an App over to the right, i.e. on the phone, it will appear on the phone correctly.  This only works 1 at  a time.  I have 16 apps in "Waiting" mode.
    Anyone?

  • Where have all my files gone?

I have about 3400 songs in Itumes. Or I should say had. Now, many but not all songs seem to have vaporized. When I click on a song title I get the message, " Cannot find file etc. would you like to locate it" words to that effect. What is going on here? I have created several Playlists. When you designate a song for a Playlist, is it removed from its previous file? I don't think so as songs I have checked ( I can't Search for all of them) don't seem to be anywhere. This goes even for songs purchased from the Itunes store. Ahhhhh! Could some generous knowledgeable soul out there please tell me why this happened and is there any other way to correct it other than simply deleting all current files and importing the entire library again? If I lose Purchased songs ( there are a few I didn't back up yet) will Apple allow another download? I can guess the answer to that one. Anyway, This is a monstrous pain. Is it better to manage the song files yourself or allow Apple to do it? Thanks.

I have idea that may prevent you ever losing your music files again. Itunes has it's own folder in my music, However did you know if you change the the name of the file location in itunes to put them in the normal location as where windows media puts them in stead of your music files being put in the itunes folder in my music. Alsoi f you ever ripped Cd's a music play such as Musicmatch/Yahoo the Media player will automatically seach & add these files to the windows media player library. I don't have my music files located in the itunes folder & never did & I have never had a file disapear. I Just think alot of the problem is you may allowing itunes to put your files it it's own location rather than Have them in my Music folder. I sometimes delete that stupid Itunes folder in my music because I don't need or use it. I Throught about letting itunes put my files in that folder, but it seems a lot people are have problems with vanishing libraries & it could be that everyone is letting itunes put them their folder. Just this could make a differance.
To change where itunes puts your music files
    Go to edit
    References
Click advanced tap & change the location Name
    Usally C:/Documents & Setting/Your Name/My Documents/My Music
This may solve the issue of disappearing libraries

  • All my music - gone from my iPhone! What the ... is going on!?

Twice now since upgrading to iOS6 my iPhone has "lost" all my music. This seems to happen randomly when I sync with iTunes on my PC.
I went on a journey today looking forward to catching up on my audiobook and it wasn't there!
This is made worse by my massive music and audiobook library which takes all night to reload.
Cummon Apple, this is pants! Sort it out and give us iOS 6.1 or whatever it takes. I'm a long-time iPhone user and I've never known Apple systems to be this unreliable.

    Waaaaaaaaaaah!
    Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
    Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!
Would you like a little cheese to go with that whine????
    Grow up.
You are not addressing Apple here, we are users like yourself and frankly do not care to read or want to be bothered with a toddler whining.
Sync the content back, deal with it, move on.  Life is simply too short to be a whiney brat.

  • Where has all my AlbumArtwork gone?

I formatted my computer and re-directed iTunes 7 to a new location. I saved all the music files, as well as the original iTunes files in a new location -
ALL the playlists were saved, as well as all the details I typed in myself - BUT:
The album Artworks do not appear.
    Why is that?
How do I make them re-appear again? They are very, very dear to me...
    Help!!
    r.

Does it not appear in iTunes or on your iPod? If it's not showing in iTunes, hit control (Ctrl)G. If it's not showing on your iPod, click the music tab from your iPod settings and check the box that says "display album artwork on your iPod". If it's already checked, uncheck it and hit apply. Then recheck it hit apply again.

  • Where has all my RAM gone? (Super Slow!)

I am still struggling with the same problem. My MacBook is SUPER SLOW after Snow Leopard installment.
    1. I have reinstalled - did not work
    2. I have done various disk repairs (all ok!) accept for a Warning that reads: SUID file "System/Library?CoreS....has been modified and will not be repaired.
    3. I have add an extra 1Gig RAM (now 2 Gig RAM) - with no effect. The Activity Monitor still show that I only have 7-10MB memory available, the same as when I had 1 Gig RAM. Where does all my memory go too?
    4. I have tried upgrade to 10.6.2 (The combo). As soon as I start the following error appear: SafariErrorDomainError2. (Is this my problem or Apple's problem?) So, my Mac is still not upgrade to 10.6.2....!?
    5. I did the Command Option R/P. The computer is then back to normal for only 2 minutes and then it gradually gets slower and slower and showed that I have used 1,99Gig of RAM on the Activity Monitor.
When my Mac starts up, al is well for 2 minutes and then it gets slower gradually and gradually. Sucking up all my memory. Where is my memory going too?
I am loosing money and time. The advice from South Africa Consultants was not helpful. I need to get working, and I do not very much want to return to Microsoft!

    Hi Tim.
Thank you for the advice. I did follow the list as refered to in resetting spotlight indexes. I left my computer on the whole night for the process to complete. Hopefully it did. There was nothing the next morning telling me the process is complete.
    The problem still exist.
If 'mdimport' is either not running or is consuming very little CPU then it has finished rebuilding the index. mdimport will still run from time to time to index any new files added to the computer and/or old files that have been updated.
If you check the 'mds' process, is it now consuming less real memory (e.g. a few hundred MB is normal. More than 1 GB would be abnormal.)
A funny thing is that my computer show that the root user is disable, but the programs of the root user is still running as seen on the activity monitor, it is the processes of the root user that uses all my RAM and keeping my computer slow. It is so slow I cannot work on it. I am trying to resolve this problem know for a long time and no one where able to help me, until know. I feel hopeless!
In a Unix operating system, every process must be associated with a user ID. The operating system itself is not exempt from this rule. All processes which are started by the operating system will typically run as either 'root' or one of a number of other special accounts. There are actually quite a few of these special accounts, though you will typically only see processes running under a few of them. It is not possible for a user to actually log into the Mac using one of these special accounts (they have "locked" passwords - which basically means no password would be accepted to log in via one of these special accounts. The Mac simply will not allow a user to log in. When the accounts are needed, the operating system will kick off processes & jobs running under the appropriate special user accounts.
The fact that there are lots of processes running as root is not a problem and is not the cause of your memory shortage. Everyone who runs OS X has these processes running on their machine and aren't having memory shortages as a result.
The issue in your case is that one of these processes seems to be single-handedly gobbling up lots of your RAM, and we haven't been able to determine why.
I tried to download 10.6.2 but it does not download properly. I have tried this download many times. Might this be the reason for my problem, the fact that I am running 10.6.0 and not 10.6.2? Or are there other solutions.
I am far from any city and are not able to take my Macbook to any store for assistance.
I am concerned that not only are you having issues with the 'mds' process, but also unable to update your OS.
Go into "System Preferences" -> "Accounts" and verify that where you see your own user account listed you see the word "Admin" printed just below your name (in the list of accounts on the left side of the panel.) If not, let us know.
Next (assuming you are an 'Admin'), start "Disk Utility" and ask it to "Repair Permissions" on your Macintosh HD. You should also ask it to "Verify Disk". You will get some errors on "Repair Permissions" (Apple has a list of known errors that it will generate, but it will repair any problems not on Apple's list of known issues), but "Verify Disk" should come back with no errors. If "Verify Disk" has issues, please let us know and we'll explain how to do a "Repair Disk" (you can't perform the 'repair' on the same disk you booted from).
After doing this, restart your Mac, log in, run Software Update and see if you are able to apply the updates.
If Spotlight indexed your disk while some corruption existed on it (this what the Repair Permissions is meant to correct) then we may need to rebuild it yet again.
There is a more brute-force way to fix the problem involving the "Archive Install" (a way of re-installing only the operating system files on your computer without affecting any user accounts or applications you've installed... though you will lose some settings (e.g. you'll probably have to re-define your printers.)) but you wont lose any of your data or applications. I'd prefer to see if we can't fix your problem without needing to resort to this.
