Where's my Home icon?

I bought a new computer yesterday (a 20-inch Intel dual iMac). I used Migration Assistant and iSync to move everything from my old G4 iMac. But Safari on the new computer no longer has that little house icon to click to return to your home page. I've looked for some preference or setting and can find nothing. Can anyone tell me how to get it back?

Hi Robert ..........
Look in the Safari menu bar under "view" you can select "Home"
* Good luck ...

  • Where is the Home icon (House) that you clicked on to take you to your desired home page or search engine

Above should be clear enough. There was a home icon (a house clip-art) in the main Firefox toolbar that would take me to my search engine (Google) if I had it set-up as my home page. Where has that gone.

You can find the toolbar Home button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar.
You can drag the Home button from its current position at the right to the previous position at the left of the location bar if you do not like that new position.

  • Where is the home icon in Firefox 5.0

I upgraded to 5.0 and have not found a way to get back the 'home' icon. I have all of the toolbars enabled.

Right-side of the Navigation bar, to the right of the Search Bar. See the screenshot.

  • Lost Home Icon

I moved my "home" icon from my hard drive and tried to install it on my dock. I must have done something wrong because when I tried to place my home icon on the dock I was greeted with a puff of smoke (where did my "home" icon go?).
If I select "home" from the "go" menu it will display all of my folders that were located there. How can I put my "home" icon back on my hard drive?
Thanks, in advance for any help

It sounds like you removed your home icon from your sidebar. If this is the case then go to the Finder, select the Finder menu > Preferences, click in the Sidebar tab and reenable "Home".
To put your home directory in the dock, go to your home directory, click Command-up arrow (Apple key-up arrow) and this should take up one directory level. So, you should how see an icon of your home directory plus a Shared directory plus any other home directories on the computer. Drag THAT icon to your dock.

  • HT202190 Where is the "Settings icon in the lower right corner of the Home Sharing window."?

Where is the "Settings icon in the lower right corner of the Home Sharing window."? Anybody else doesn't find it? Is it because of I have the most updated version of iTunes? Have things changed?

What I had to do is send to my iPhone from my Mac, respond to the resulting alert, choose the action button while the destination was highlighted, and then save the address to favorites.

  • Where is the iCloud icon? I have a new ipad and although in settings I have the icon and have set music, mail etc to be stored on the cloud I do not have the icon on my home page or on the safari tool bar

Where is the iCloud icon ? I have the iCloud settings set to on for music, mail etc but the icon is not on my safari tool bar nor is the icon present on my home screen

There is no iCloud app or icon on your phone.  iCloud is enabled and configured in your settings, but you access your iCloud data through the apps you are syncing with iCloud.  iCloud contacts are accessed through the Contacts app on your phone, Mail through the Mail app, Reminders through the Reminders app, etc.
You can also access some of this data on icloud.com from a computer.  You can't, however, access icloud.com from your phone.

Where is now Cooliris icon in Firefox 3.6.18? Last appeared in the top right but now I get the home icon. Please let me clarify it. Regards.

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long.

  • The bookmark icon does not show next to the home icon on my screen - where is it?

I just downloaded the latest Firefox but the icon for bookmarks does not appear anywhere - it should be next to the home icon?
Also where is the Stop icon.
    Thanks

Reload button and stop button are united in one button which is placed at the end of address bar. When you switch over it it turns blue and while loading any page, it turns red and has 'X' mark which is actually the stop button.
You can place bookmarks button from the Customize dialog box from Alt+V > Toolbars > Customize
''<hr>Note: If anyone's reply has solved your problem, then please mark that reply as "Solved It" to the right of that reply after logging in your account. It will help us to concentrate on new questions.''

  • Hi, how can I move the "Home" icon back to the LHS where it used to be on 3?

The home icon was on the LHS of the screen next to the forward and back buttons - can I move it back there rather than leaving it in its current position way over to the right? Thanks.

Right click a blank part of the tab bar and then click '''Customize'''. A panel will open and while it remains on screen, you can change the layout to suit your own liking.
You can also add buttons and toolbars from within that panel and drag stuff you don't want in there.

You cannot revert back to a previous iOS version.
Of the apps you've mentioned, here are their sizes my iPhone 5 under iOS 8.1.2 as reported under Settings/General/Usage/Manage Storage:
    Podcasts: 8.4 MB
    iBooks: 1.1 MB
    Health: 148 KB
I'm curious where you got the values of "approx 350 Mb each"? These apps are now embedded into iOS and AFAIK, their app sizes are not reported as user-downloaded apps are.

  • Need some help changing the Home icon name in Lion

OK, I want to change the home icon name in Lion, I've been following these instructions to enable root user, BUT
How to enable the root user
    OS X Lion
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
Click the lock and authenticate as an administrator account.
    Click Login Options....
Click the "Edit..." or "Join..." button at the bottom right.
Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu.
Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK.
After I get to step 6, the director utility opens... the lock is already unlocked, I click it and it locks, click it again, enter my admin password... but there is no option to "Enable Root User" I only see a list of services "Active Directory", "LDAPv3" & "NIS". I'm lost, and I don't want to screw anything up here! Thanks for the help!

You're looking in the wrong place. After you click the padlock, forget about that window and go to the menubar, top of your screen where it says
Directory Utility | File | Edit | Help
From the Edit menu choose 'enable root user'

    Make that four.
If you have any commercially advertised/available antivirus software installed on your Mac, completely uninstall this per the instructions on the AV developer's website.
Antivirus software can slow down the normal operation of OS X and can negatively affect OS X performance and operation.
Do you have apps like MacKeeper or any other maintenance apps like CleanMyMac 1 or 2, TuneUpMyMac or anything like these apps, installed on your Mac? These types of apps, while they appear to be helpful, can do too good a job of data "cleanup" causing the potential to do serious data corruption or data deletion and render a perfectly running OS completely dead and useless leaving you with a frozen, non-functional Mac.
Plus, these type of apps aren't really necessary. They really aren't.
There are manual methods to clear off unnecessary data off of your Mac that are safer and you have complete control over your Mac and not just leave a piece of auto cleaning software in charge of clearing off data off of your Mac.
Their potential of causing OS X issues outweighs the implied good and benefits these types of hard drive or memory "cleaning" apps are written to do.
Plus, the software companies that write these apps make it hard to easily uninstall these apps if something DOES go wrong and these apps work in a way where you have no recovery or revert function to return your Mac back to its former, working state in the event something does go wrong.
It is best to never, EVER download and install these types of apps.
The risk to your system and data is too great a risk!
Search the web to learn how to correctly and properly uninstall these kinds of apps.
    They all uninstall differently.
