Where's my mail?

I did a clean install and when I replaced my mail folder into the user library, my old mail didn't show up. What do I need to do to get my old mail in the program after a clean install? The mailboxes are showing up, but not the actual mail.
Thanks!
Joel

Sig,
Figured it out. All I had to do was import my mailboxes. Duh! I complicated things by trying to move the mailboxes to library. I forgot that Apple actually makes things easy for you.
Thanks for your help.
Joel

I know this email is confusing and really hard to understand...perhaps now you will know how i've been feeling--lost and confused with all the mis-information, with a hit and miss phone, and out of time with all the 1 1/2 hr to 2 hrs EACH wasted on this issue.
On top of all this, I can't even find out how to file a complaint with anyone higher up than Customer Service.
I hate to tell you this, but you didn't write an email. You wrote a discussion post on the Verizon Wireless Community forum which is a public peer to peer forum. Unfortunately since you didn't mark your post as a question, the VZW reps that roam this community won't ever see your post. Before you re-post it, don't. Duplicate posts get removed from the community.
I see there were several missteps both by the reps and yourself in your post. First you should have insisted on returning the phone within the 14 day return policy period. Second which Samsung Galaxy mini model did you purchase? The S3 mini or the S4 mini? Did you do any research prior to deciding on this device. The reps at that time deflected the easiest course of action, by trying to get you to replace the phone under insurance instead of returning the phone. The Early Edge payment option requires the current phone on the line using the early Edge must be returned to Verizon Wireless. Did you once considered going to a third party site like Swappa to purchase a gently used device for your daughter?

  • Where is the mail folder in Mtn. Lion?

I am setting up Time Machine to back up the files on my iMac.  I want to exclude Applications, the System, and related files for space reasons, but want to make sure that I get a backup of my e-mail files.  I have searched for the MAIL folder but can't find it.  What is the path to where the e-mails are stored in Mountain Lion?  Thanks

Hmm - out of curiosity - would the User Library be part of the System deep down in the file hierarchy?
    @ ReidMac:
Not sure if excluding the System (or Applications for that matter) would be wise - it may prevent you from being able to restore from Time Machine in case your system is borked? If size is of concern - and since Time Machine keeps making backups until the disk/partition is full - have you considered a different backup strategy, such as a bootable clone which needs exactly the same amount of space as your system currently uses?

  • HT204093 Where is my mail folder on my mac

Okay I hope to make sense here....
I had all my mail in the icloud.  I then created a folder on my mac for mail older than 6 months.  Then mail that was older than 6 months in cloud I moved to my mac.
In mail I had renamed the older than 6 month folder.  I still see my old mail in mail.  I can't find the corresponding folder on mac, or when I do it really is odd size.  Mail in folder on mac is housing 10 years worth of email and coming in at 300MB when I think it would be way bigger, like 1 TB.
I created a new folder in mail, but I can't find the coorseponding folder in documents---> mail folder.
Where is the mail folder on the mac?  Where does it naturally default too?
    Thanks,
    Andy

Thank you of the quick reply and I kind of now have more info.
Since posting my question I "exported" the mailbox and voila, 2.6GB of info.  So I think I have some solution.
"Are you desiring to Archive mail older than six months and remove that from Mail?" Not from Mail, but the iCloud, but when I did remove from icloud, I want to make another back up, even though I have time machine.  I want to basically burn a DVD or put old email on other storage media.
"With a better understanding of your goal -- I can help you to a solution." Okay great, appreciate it! I hope I made/make sense.
"If you haven't done a Rebuild lately, I'd highly recommend you start there:"  Ummm  I've never rebuild.... so I also wanted to back up the data before I rebuild I think, right?  I have no other copy, these emails were removed from the iCloud, and put in a mail folder on my mac (which I can't find the mailbox (mbox) on the mac, user name--->documents---> mail folder---> there is no corresponding mbox that I just created, this folder/get info says circa 2012), so the mail on my mac is not copied from iCloud. Technically I do have the time machine backup.... but you never know if that gets corrupted.
So my thought prior to rebuild is to export, as a back up, then rebuild?  As to mailbox naming, since I have no idea where the corresponding folders are on my mac, exporting first, might be best option.  If I rebuild, will that break or possibly lose data?
    Thoughts?
    Andy

  • Where did the mail go?

A friend sent me pictures he posted on Google+ but he sent the link to my work e-mail.  I tried to forward the email message to my personal icloud account but it never showed up.  My wife tried to forward her copy of the same e-mail and that never showed up either.  I don't use Google or any other online picture posting app.  Do these services prevent forwarding? Or where did the mail go? It's not in my Junk folder.

  • Webcal and webmail where Calendar and Mail use SSL but Web does not

I have Lion Serer 10.7.3 up and running. I have the same SSL cert in use for calendar, address book, and email, but not for web service. Calendar is running great via iCal.app and on iOS.
    1.  Trying to access the webcal at http://myserver.com/webcal returns a page saying "Calendar service is turned off. You can turn it on by using the Server app on the server." Accessing webcal via https://myserver.com/webcal fails when it redirects for authentication - the resulting page, gives me an apache 404 error that /auth could not be found - the url it is trying to reach is: https://myserver.com/auth?redirect=https://myserver.com/webcal/
There is a bit of a hack for this that I have discovered - I change the url to eliminate the https on the url, but leave it on the redirect:
    http://myserver.com/auth?redirect=https://myserver.com/webcal/
I can then authenticate and get into the calendar and it works as expected from there.
    2. Trying to access webmail via https://myserver/webmail fails with a page saying "Mail is turned off..." But it all works fine using the non-ssl connection.
If I turn off all certs, then it works fine. If I turn on all certs, it works fine. But turning on SSL for my website is not an option - it's a blog that does not need the extra overhead (and my certs are self-signed, making them look nefarious to most web browsers).
So, I am looking for suggestions on how to obtain access to webcal where the calendar server (and address book server) are using an ssl certificate but the web service is not.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to make this work appropriately, where the webcal and webmail are served on SSL protected connections and the Web Service uses an unencrypted, non-SSL connection?

    bump.
Anyone? It seems this question has been asked a couple of different times and in a couple of different ways (including here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16100639#16100639).
    Thanks for your help!

  • Where is the mail folder in 10.8

I recently changed from 10.6.8 (snow leopard) to 10.8 (mountain lion).  In 10.6, in the finder window, under the library tab, there was a folder for "Mail".  I was able to copy the folder "Mail" and take it to another computer I have at a different location and keep both computers synched.
In 10.8, the Mail folder is not there.
Where is the application Mail, storing the mail folders with their content?  I want to do the same thing of synching another computer with all of my current mail boxes and content.
    Lee

    It did work!
    Thank You.
I did notice that the "Mail" folder in the Library maintains the same date, (the date when I installed Mountain Lion, June 11 2013 6:15 PM) even after there are updates and new E-mails comming in.
The size of the folder does change when I delete (put into trash E-mails) or receive new E-mails, but the date of "date modified" never changes. It stays on June 11, 2013 6:15PM.
Because the date never changes, it makes it hard to know when i look into "Time Machine", which is the most current Mail folder.
    HELP PLEASE!

  • Where are apple mail attachment files stored in OS 10.9

I am trying to locate an attachment file from a recently deleted message.  The message is no longer in my trash, so I can't access the file through Mail.  In the past, there was usually an archived copy somewhere on my hard drive, but it seems to have moved in my most recent update of Mac OSX.  It used to be in the Library folder in my user folder, but now there is no Library folder in that location.  Where do I find these files?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Check the Mail folder/V2.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • Where are the mail downloads in Lion?

I sent some photos from my Iphone to my Mail (lion). I do not have the newest iPhoto for Photo-stream (because Ido not want all my photos on my iPhone - but I'd like only to send 1 way > iPhoto)  But I don't know where the downloaded photos are. If I put them in iPhoto and then trash the email with the photo, won't iPhoto say it cannot locate the original? The was the case in previous OSX SL and before, so I always went to the download folder and moved it to another folder. If I want to store that photo in another file I would, but I don't know where the damm photo is originally. HELP!

Mail Download folder is in HardDrive > Users > *Your Name* > Library.
The folder will be invisable by default, so Finder -> Go to  and hold down Option key would show "Library" in the list. Click on it would bring you to the hidden folder.
If you want to access it regularly then either drag it to the left menu bar or take this advice from Kappy, as I did
If you wish to have it displayed do this:
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities and enter or paste the following at the prompt:
    sudo chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed.
(Copy Paste that command. Don't try to type it)
    Good Luck

  • Where is Sent mail stored in POP account?

    OK;
I should know this and Wikipedia doesn't explain it, but in using Mail under a POP account where "leave mail on server for x time " is selected, are both the incoming and outgoing mail saved on server or only the incoming? I ask because I am trying to restore a POP account using a TM backup that is a few days old. I know the incoming mail will be there for the time since the backup because I checked "leave on server", but will the Sent mail be there also?

Mail that you send is stored in the Sent Messages.mbox folder for the account, in your Library/Mail folder. It is not stored on the server.

  • Where are Mac Mail mailboxes located?

Hi.  I keep software on the internal hard drive of my Mac, but I keep on personal content (iPhoto photos, iMovie projects, iTunes songs and video, etc) on an external drive.  I want to do the same thing with the email content that is stored on my Mac.  For the Mail mailboxes on my Mac, where is actual physical email content stored?  Is there a way to move this and future email content to my external drive, and have the Mail app find it there?  Thx

These instructions are for Lion only. Back up all data first and be prepared to restore if anything goes wrong.
Select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Users & Groups. Click the lock icon and authenticate. Right-click or control-click your name in the account list and select Advanced options... from the contextual menu. In the sheet that opens, change your home directory to where you want it to be. Save your changes, log out, and log back in.

  • No User Library? Where is the Mail.plist and Mail stored?

I have installed Lion on an external USB 2.0 HD and want to copy over my Mail folder and mail.plist from my iMac's internal HD.
I've copied them but don't know where to put them as there appears to be no User Library folder?

We never found out why they hid the user library but not the main library.
I can't remember helping anybody fix anything that they accidentally removed from the Library, but I sure told a lot of people how to fix stuff by digging into the Library.
