Where's my ringtone??

I recently created a ringtone for my iPhone but it's not showing up except in iTunes.  I followed the instructions correctly seen here on this site:  http://osxdaily.com/2010/09/04/make-free-iphone-ringtones-in-itunes-10/
Any reson why it would show up in iTunes but NOT on my phone?

One last place you can check is to click on the Tones folder under Library on the top left of iTunes.  If you don't see the Tones folder (see image below), go to iTunes Preferences, click on General, then under "Show:" check "Tones".  If you don't find it in this folder, or the Music folder, or the Purchased folder, then it must not be in your library.  I would then check your transaction history to confirm that you purchase was recorded by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2727, and then contacting iTunes store support to report the problem:
http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • Where is the ringtone file in iTunes?

Where is the ringtone file in iTunes?  I am trying to download some ringtones in there.  The website says to save the sound file to the ringtone file in itunes so when I sync I can transfer it over to my iphone

iTunes>Preferences>General>Show>Tones...make sure Tones is checked. If you can't see the sidebar: iTunes>View>Show Sidebar.
If the ringtone has the proper extension: m4r, simply dropping it on the iTunes app logo will put it in the proper location.

  • Where to put ringtones?

ok I found where the "stock" ringtones reside on the N9
    /usr/share/sounds/ring-tones/
to paste stuff in here though you need authorization.

    go to
    settings/security/developer mode
    and enable it.
it will have you download and install some files. tap ok.
you should be able to just open the filebox (free download from ovi store) and then go to:
    /home/user/MyDocs
and then tap and hold, select copy on the all the ringtones you want to copy and then tap the up-arrow (bottom left corner) and you will be in /home/user/
    scroll down to .ring-tones
tap it to open the folder
then tap the clipboard and select the ringtones to paste there.
it should be done. you should be able to see it when you go to select the sounds.
i have not used these to do individual ringtones for contacts, but have customized the sounds in:
    settings/sounds and vigbration
for all my rintone, maeil alert tone, message alert tone, calendar alarm tone.
i have been using the same nokia sounds for these since 2004
you could also do the following with terminal
    open terminal
    devel-su (enter)
    rootme (enter)
    cp -R /home/user/MyDocs/(file name.mp3) /home/user/.ring-tones/
you can do that for each different ringtone, just changing the file name.
to make it easier with terminal, if after you enter the first one, just tap the top right corner for the menu, and select toolbar, then arrows.
now just tap the up-arrow and then use the left/right arrows to change the file name and then tap enter again. this should save a bit of time once you are good at it.

Where are my ringtone purchase iPhone 5?

  • Where did my ringtones go after I downloaded them from VCast tones?

I just recently bought a LG Lucid.  This is my first smartphone, so it's a big change coming from a basic phone.  I recently purchased some ringtones from the VCast tones app on my phone, but now I can't find them anywhere.  When I go into my recent purchases from VCast, they are both there.  But if I open up my ringtones/downloads they're not listed.  Does anyone know where I can find them?

Try installing a file explorer from the Play Store. The ringtones might have saved to a location different then the standard download folder. You can use the file explorer app to search the phone storage.
Estrongs or Astro are the well known ones.

  • Where did my ringtones go after iOS 6 update

After updating to iOS 6 my ringtones are gone on my iPhone 4? Anyone else have this issue? I can honestly say that I regret upgrading to iOS 6. First my music wasn't synching and I had to manually fix that myself, thanks to a post I found on here and now my ringtones are gone. The iOS 5 update was a pain in the rear, but this one is really making me consider a change.
When I connect my phone to my MAC and click on the phone in iTunes and then click on Tones only one of my ringtones show up. I had 5 or 6. When I go into my iPhone settings for sounds/ringtones the only tones that show up are the default crappy iPhone tones. Very frustrating that everytime I do an update I have to manually go in a fix some screw up. Steve Jobs passing will be the end of Apple.

Strange that they don't show up in itunes. Where did you get these ringtones from?

  • Where to put ringtones in the N9?

I dont really know where to put this thread. So mods feel free to move it.
I didnt really care for any of the stock ring tones on the N9, and I had a ring tone on my N97 that was the sound played on Star Trek TNG when the shuttle bay doors would start to open. The problem here is the N9 only lets you shop for new tones, or pull them out of your music.
I had put up with this on my N97, occasionally hearing this tone while listening to music because I had searched high and low how to put this tone and not have it imported into the music library.
Is there anyway to put this Mp3 file on my N9 so that it will see it in the Ringtones list, but not end up in the Music player?
    Thanks a ton

  • Where is the Ringtones folder for iTunes?

I've created some ringtones and now I need to place them in the correct folder so that iTunes will load them.
Can anyone point me to where the folder should be?

I don't think the problem lies in the iTunes programme. Try turning off the iPhone then turn it back on and plug it in the computer. If it doesn't work try resetting it. Go to Settings>General>Reset. Choose the option to keep your data and reset it. Plug your iPhone in the computer.

  • Where is my Ringtones folder?

I have itunes 9 and I don't have a ringtones folder in my library. It is definitely not in the left hand column where I see music, movies, podcasts, etc.
Does anyone know where the ringtones folder went or how I can create it?
I have been trying to create ringtones using the "make ACC" method but have nowhere to put these files!
    Thanks!

    Thanks, dude.
I also figured out where my ringtones folder went - for anyone seeking the same answer and somehow stumbled upon this thread: http://www.ringtonefeeder.com/faq.html#q1
    Cheers!

  • ITunes 9 where are the ringtones

I just upgraded to iTunes 9 and all the "bell" ringtones are not showing any more in my music library. Also when I search for music in the iTunes store and I no longer see which songs can be used for ringtones. Any idea what's going on?

That's the exact thing I am trying to figure out, I have spent almost the whole day trying to figure out where the "bell" icon went to see if the song is available for ringtone format. Even though I know that you can look for the ringtones directly on your phone but I want to create my own. any idea?
I'm sorry I wasn't much help. I just wanted to share my frustration as well.

  • Where are my Ringtones?

I have recently upgraded to Itunes 9 and purchased a ringtone. Despite checking that when syncing this are ticked and checking my computer is authorised is am unable to find or use it on my iphone 3GS. There are several discussions on here highlighting this problem but does anyone have an answer as to where they might be hiding on my iphone???

How did you buy the ringtone?
Does it show up under your library in itunes under the ringtone category?
Itunes purchased/created ringtones are available in the U.S. only at this time.
As of the latest software, you can download ringtones directly to the iphone. Not sure if this applies in all countries or not.

  • Where did my ringtone go?

I purchased a ringtone for my iphone 6 and after an update it disappeared.  I went into itunes store and selected purchased but nothing is listed there.  How do I get it back?

    Hi,
In iTunes... go to Preferences... General... and Check the Ringtones Box...
    Should now appear in iTunes
    Good Luck!

  • Where is the ringtones folder in Itunes to put an .m4r in?

i have an .m4r file i wish to use as a ringtone but for the life of me I can't find a "ringtones" folder in my iTunes (version 10) to drop it in!
I have been told it is on the left hand side, but it just isn't there.
How do I find this folder?
    Thanks

Did any of that make sense?
    I think so.
A possible cause for splitting up the album is an extra "space" character at the end of the title, which you would not see, or between two words and you just can't notice it. The cure for this is to copy the Album Title from one track and paste it into all the other tracks. Then you know that every track has the same information.
Another cause is guest artists. If the album's artist is Fred X (for example) and therefore each track is listed as "Fred X", but one song has a guest artists and the artist field says "Fred X and his mate", then that track would be separated out from the others. The usual work round for this problem is to put the guest artist at the end of the song title and delete him (and the space after X) from the artist's field.

  • Where is the ringtone I bought in itunes

Bought a ringtone from my iPad.  It shows up in my purchases on my laptop, but I can't find the actual ringtone on my phone.

Did you put it on your laptop?
If you bought it on your ipad, you would have to transfer it to the computer: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
