WHERE'S THE 8i SERVER FORUM???????

Seems a bit daft to me that there should be everything else BUT a forum for the 8i Server (std or enterprise) product.

Forms Server is included on the tech track on the CD entitled

  • Where do the portal server saves all the NWDS plugins

    Hello,
Where do the portal server saves on his side all the plugins/packages that are available in my NWDS and does it have other packages that I don't have and need?

10X Harish but I am looking for the folder themselfs as they appear at the NWDS plugins directory...
I found many of them at the ...\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps. Is this the right place?
And another question: Often I can't find any available imports on the NWDS plugins but I find it on the server, for example:
com.sapportals.portal.pcd.gl.IPcdAttribute is not available at any of the NWDS plugins but it is available on the server at: com.sap.portal.pcd.glservice\lib\gl_api.jar. Why is that?

  • Newbie cluster question: where does the admin server live?

Hello, I'm looking at clustering for our application where I work, and so I'm reading through the cluster-related documentation for 11g. I have a sort of an architecture question: where should the admin server be started? Hypothetically speaking, if you have two nodes for your cluster, would the AdminServer run on a 3rd box which sort of stood in front of the two nodes?
    Thanks much -

The ideal situation would be for your admin server to be separate from the machines hosting your managed server. This allows you to control access to the admin server, eliminate the performance impact if you have the admin + managed on the same host, and limits impact if youir #1 host fails, etc.
But companies may be unwilling to invest in a distinct (3rd) host just for the admin server, especially if you have multiple environments ( prod, testing, dev, etc. ).
So usually the admin winds up sharing the host with a managed server.

  • Where are the SMTP Server services, please?

    Hello
Not sure this is the correct forum but can't see anything else.
I use Visual Studio with IIS Express server. I wish to set up and configure the SMTP services so that I can test STMP email scripts.
The SMTP server has to be set up from the Control Panel of my Win 7 PC (Windows Features), under Internet Information Services, but all I can see is this:
    Windows Features
There is no reference to SMTP services. Likewise, if I go to Internet Information Services Manager (right-click on Computer and choose Manage), I cannot see SMTP Services, either:
    Manager
Thank you for any advice. Please note that I do not have the Windows 7 installation CD (the Packard Bell PC I have came with Windows already installed).
    Thank you.

    Hi bluenose_ted,
Thank you for visiting the MSDN forum. I’m afraid that it is not the correct forum about this issue, since this forum is to discuss and ask questions about the setup and deployment of .NET Framework.I am moving your question to the moderator forum ("Where
is the forum for..?"). The owner of the forum will direct you to a right forum. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Where is the Apache server folder

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but I"ve been on this forum for nearly and hour just LOOKING for a button that lets me post my question. I got so frustrated I actually phoned the Mac Help Linel to ask them, but they didn't know either. I looked in the forum help section but it didn't help either.
Anyway, it sounds so obvious I'm almost embarrased to ask: Where Is The Folder in which you put your Index.html file to replace the generic Apache start page which is what you see when you try to access your own computer on the web?
This question seems so blindingly obvious it makes me feel like there's something wrong with me. Perhaps I'm intellectually challenged or maybe I'm getting an early case of Alhzeimer's or Apple has a sweetheart deal with the makers of Prozac.
If anybody replies, please restrict your answers to normal plain-language English, without abbreviations. Please reply in full sentences, and assume no prior knowledge of anything beyond about Grade 3.

    > Where Is The Folder in which you put your Index.html file to replace the generic Apache start page
    /Library/WebServer/Documents
It isn't obvious, but you can see if if you use Server Admin to manage your site - the DocumentRoot is where it serves files from, and that's the default.

  • Where is the LDAP server in Suns Webserver?

Attempting to run Sun's j2ee tutorial on Windows XP, specifically:
    C:\Sun\j2eetutorial14\doc\index.html
Chapter 33: The Java Message Service API
A Simple Example of Synchronous Message Receives
I was under the impression that the JMS info entered in the Application Server Admin Console was going into an LDAP repository; presumably part of the Application Server. Specifically the stuff under the JMS tab eg., JMS connection Factories. However there is no server listening on port 389 where I expect an LDAP server. When I try to run the example it complains:
    C:\Sun\j2eetutorial14\examples\jms\simple>appclient -client SimpleProducer.jar jms/Topic topic 3
Destination name is jms/Topic, type is topic
Could not create get Environmentjavax.naming.NameNotFoundException: jms not found
Which figures if it can't find the LDAP server.
So my question is: what the heck is going on?
    Adam.

    Ali,
As applmgr user, source the application env file and issue "echo $IAS_ORACLE_HOME", this should point to the directory where Apache files are installed (for example, apache executable file under bin directory).

  • Copying dependent files, Where is the application server icon?!?

I have looked at the Dreamweaver help sites and I cannot figure out where the application server icon is! I am currently running CS3 on a mac thats running OSX 10.4, and I'm trying to upload my site from a different computer than I originally had the files. First I expand my files window in the window>files menu. But then I have no idea where the 'application server icon' is which is supposed to re-link all my dependent files I think? Please, anyone can you give me the co-ordinates of this icon?? I will love you forever!

  • URGENT : Where is the Developer Server ?

I downloaded the trial version of developer/developer server from
this site. i installed all the components of the file, and i
seem to have the entire developer part. However, i can't seem to
find the developer server part. does anybody know how i can
start the developer server in standalone mode ? where are the
executables associated with the server? is there any
documentation about the server config ? is the server even
included in the trial download ?
    Appreciate any help...
    null

    Chet,
Once installed, there is nothing immediately obvious which tells
you that Developer Server is on the machine - i.e. there is
nothing in the START menu. I haven't seen anything in Oracle
Installer's 'List of installed products' which I can easily
identify as the 'Developer Server'. However it is now "happily"
installed on my machine, and probably on yours too.
To be on the safe side, you could rerun the installation and
take the 'deployment installation' option when prompted for
    'Development Installation','Deployment Installation' or 'Custom'.
On the next screen, choose 'Server Install'
This should then ensure you have the server installed on your
    machine.
(The Developer Server copy I'm using is the one issued on the
"Internet Development Tools Technology Track", which is
effectively a trial, if that helps answer part of the question)
You can check if you have at least got the Forms Server
installed by typing the following at the Dos prompt:
    ifsrv60 -install MYSERVER
    You should be prompted with
'FRM-60001:Do you want to install 'Developer Forms Server
    [MYSERVER]' as an NT service?'
If you were to respond YES to this, it would create a Forms
Server service in Control Panel-Services which you would then
    need to go and start.
Before doing this, however, I would recommend reading the
"Oracle Developer and Oracle Developer Server 6.0 Reviewers
    Guide" available from TechNet at:
    http://technet.oracle.com/product/tools/dev2k/rguide60.zip
It's a bit of a hefty download, but worth it, and gives a good
tour of other things you'll need to do in order to get things
    working.
    Hope this helps

  • Where does the ACS server get the DNS info for IP pools?

I am trying to change the DNS servers that my VPN users are assigned from the IP pools on the ACS server. Where does the IP pools get the DNS server information. I have changed the DNS Ips on the windows server and rebooted. But the VPN clients are still being assigned the old DNS servers.

ACS ip pools do not push DNS server information
It is either being forwarded from VPN concentrator group setup or
    it is being send from ACS user/group setup > Radius(VPN 3000) attributes > [026/3076/005] Primary-DNS.
    Hope this helps.

  • Where should the print server be?

    Hello all!
Right now we have a cluster with two nodes for SAP (Node1: SAP & SAP PRD / Node2: Database) and all printers are installed on a different standard file server. Last week we realized that the file server is not the right place for SAP printer. If someone restarts the file server he unwillingly stops all SAP printing jobs. So we have two options now:
    a) reconfigure the file server as a cluster with two nodes to get high-availability
    b) put the printers on one of the SAP cluster nodes
Our system partner said we shouldn´t install the printers on the SAP system, it could slow it down too much. But I don´t think they thought about the two nodes. Would there be enough performance on one of the nodes. Maybe the printers could run on the database node or on the apllication node. How do you use printers and their queues? Or is
    c) a dedicated print-server (as a two-node cluster)
a better idea? Thanks for any ideas

    Hi Peter,
You have not given much info so I will have to make some assumptions
For printing, SAP firsts stores the data in the database via the spool work process then sends it off depending on the configuration of the printer access method. For local printing the data is then passed on to the spooler of your operating system where it is queued on the file system.
If you attach a printer directly to your database or dialog(application) instance(in SAP we call them instances not nodes then that means the management of your prints would also reside on the same system which is probably not a good idea especially if you start having problems with the printer. Also, you would be adding additional IO(through transferring data to file system spooler) and storage to the system which you probably could do without. Additional processing would also be required for managing the queued data. So yes, your supplier is correct in this case especially if your print jobs are large ones at times.
Personally, I would go for your final option c) but a) should also do fine.

    Nelis
