Where's the install?

I downloaded Create Adobe PDF for Mac OS 7.6.1. I attempted to install it
and from what I can see, the only item that installed was the "Read Me"
(kind of strange getting installation instructions after you've attempted
to install).
I do not seem to have either AdobePS printer driver version 8.6 or
greater  or Acrobat Distiller version 4.0 or greater as is suggested
and most of that sort of stuff seems to be in my "Illustrator" software
rather than my "Acrobat". Where do I go now?

Pardon, but have you arrived in a time machine? According to Google, Mac OS 7.6.1 arrived in April 1997. Is that really your OS version, and you're running Acrobat 4 and Distiller 4?
Even for old timers like me, it would be a stretch to remember how things were done before Mac OS X arrived in 2000. I'm pretty much a regular here but don't recall questions in recent years for pre-OS X software.
One place I know where people who are trying to keep "Classic Macs" running hang out is an Apple forum for Mac OS 9, OS 8, and System 7. I suspect those old timers may be able to help:

  • Where is the install package stored from the app store for Lion?

This is an all new way of deploying OS updates from Apple. From what I can see, this presents some issues:
    1. Where is the install package that I bought from the app store, and how can I save that offline?
    2. If there's a problem with my device in the future, I have no media of Lion to restart from- so what's the procedure to restore from a TM backup? Go back to 10.6, and then to the 10.7 update?
    3. What if I want to boot from disc or a drive? I don't have a copy of the install to make a bootable image.
    Thanks for the help

OK, once you install Lion the Installation Package gets deleted. However once you have installed Lion, do following:
    - Open the AppStore Application
    - With pressed Option (on German Keyboard ALT) Key klick on the "Purchased" Tab!
    - You will now see that the prviously greyed out "Install" key for Lion becomes active
    - Download the install package
    - Do not start installation
    - In order to create a bootable DVD or USB drive containing the installer follow instructions posted on
    http://www.macworld.com/article/161069/2011/07/make_a_bootable_lion_installer.ht ml
This is how you can create installation media.
For maintenance options (means your Lion installation has some problems but your drive is still OK)
you can boot from the hidden recovery partitions that was created when you installed Lion.
To do so, press the Option (ALT) Key while booting. You will have now the option to boot from
    Lion or recovery partition.
    Hope this helps!

  • After downloading and install 10.8 from the Mac Store, where does the install app go? I would like to burn the 'InstallESD.dmg" package to DVD.

Hi folks -- i downloaded ML 10.8 from the Mac Store yesterday, and before installing saw the install app in my Applications folder. Following a posting on Macworld.com, I would like to make a DVD backup of the installer, but after restarting from the installation process, the Installer app is gone from the Applications folder, and I cannot find it anywhere... In would like to make that DVD backup in case I have Internet issues and need to do an install.
Do I need to download the installar again (and if I do, do I have to pay for it again), or is it hidden somewhere invisibly on my drive?--
    Thanks in advance ~

It gets deleted as soon as you install.
You need to quit the installer and extract from the app package before installing or download again.

  • Where can the install.app file be found when installing Adobe Creative Suite CS5, download version ?

I have the same problem that the user who wrote the post "Trouble installing content files on Mac", but his post went unanswered. Here is the link: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4221280. I am trying to install the adobe creative suite CS5 downloaded from the internet, and what I have is a dmg file. When I open it, there is only a read me and a folder named "English". In the read me I go to the install instructions, and they tell me to double-click in Install.app, a file which doesn't exist. What am I doing wrong?

I downloaded it from Adobe Store. When I open the dmg file I see the read me.pdf and the English folder, nothing more. Perhaps the problem is that I have already installed the program in one computer, this is happening to me trying to install it in another one. Could that be it, that I need another license in order to make it work?

  • Where did the installed program files go?

I dont know though how to completely remove the reg files.

  • Where is the "Install Mac OS X Lion.app" file?

I recently downloaded and installed Lion on an iMac that was running Snow Leonard. Everything went well with the exception that the file "Install Mac OS X Lion.app" that's supposed to be in the Applications folder, isn't there. Where is is and how do I get it?

Go back into the App Store, login with your Apple ID then press/hold the Options/Alt key and click on the Purchases tab at the top. You should see Lion available to install. Click INSTALL and Lion will redownload. Just remember NOT to continue with the installation after it downloads.
Very strange! This is what I get when I follow your instructions:

  • Where are the "Install and Keep Package" Downloads?

I just did a clean install of 10.5.
As I wanted to save all the download Apple 10.5 updates to install other macs, I asked Software Update to "Install and Keep Package".
It downloaded them and installed them, BUT I cant find them on my HD?
    Where are they?

Same problem here with Install and Save from the Updater.
I do have a permission issue which is suppose to be solved by installing twice the Update OS X 10.5.8 Combo (?). I don't have speed connection and it took me 26 hours to load this update ...and now I can't find it.

  • Where is the install icon for Premiere?

There is no option to download Premiere once I get past the download button.  It takes me to the creative cloud drop down menu of what I can install, but it stops at prelude.  Where is premiere?

Does your computer at least meet the MINIMUM requirements?
    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html
NOTE that the MINimums are to install... really USING the program in the real world requires a lot more computing power

  • Where are the installed fonts?

I did an upgrade from Pagemaker 7.0 to InDesign 5.5. I used my installed fonts in Pagemaker without problems. Now, if I opened a Pagemaker document in InDesign there was missing the font. If I'm using MS Word the font will be avaliable. Also it works in an old Photoshop version (5.5).  Now I realised when opening the document in Pagermaker again the error comes "Font not found". What can I do to use my installed fonts in new Adobe products?

Is Pagemaker still installed? (InDesign will show the path to fonts used, I'm not able to recall if Pagemaker has a similair function, but it may be looked into)
    What OS?
5.5 would not be an old Photoshop...
Did you intstall a Creative Suite or InDesign alone?

  • Macbook Pro (Oct11) - Where's the install disk?

Does the new Macbook Pro (Oct '11) come with an install disk? My DVD envelope is empty.

Lion does not come with an install disk. If you need physical media for backup, you can buy Lion in an flash for $69 from an Apple Store. I do not reccommend doing so however, since the hidden Lion recover partition is good for that as well. Just hit cmd+R during startup or Alt and select "Recovery HD" to boot from. Then you may choose from a variety of options to recover.
If you want to install Windows, however, his is no replacement. You need a Snow Leopard install DVD. Apple still sells it for $29, if I'm not mistaken.

Hi, after installing Adobe CC I tried opening Adobe Photoshop. This failed.
I get the opening window where it says installing plugins searching etc, after which PS opens in full screen.
Just moments after that there's a failure warning, no code number, only the warning that PS failed to open and PS will close.
I tried downloading it for a second time, but this did'nt solve the problem.
Befor the CC version I used a one year student version of Adobe CS6.
    What can I do?

Regarding the Flash Player problem, disable Hardware Acceleration to circumvent driver incompatibilities.
Regarding the Flash Pro installation problems, post in the Flash forums or http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup

  • "The drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again."

Have an Envy M6-K010DX notebook. Due to an internet problem while upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1, the PC doesn't properly boot and Windows Explorer won't load. Decided to 'Refresh' the OS and went to the F11 restore utilities. When I go to the refresh utility and follow the prompts I reach a message that says, "The drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again." I've searched support for unlocking instructions and aside from some bootrec commands (that didn't work - probably because I don't have a Win 8 disk) not much is available.
The only access I have for running commands is via the Task Manager and F11 command prompt. What is this 'locked' drive, anyway? Does anyone have any information on this?
    This question was solved.

Its hard to say if it the data is accessable or if the file system is corrupted or not.
Recuva is a free utility to recover files that are missing due to deleting or reformatting.
Not all of the data will be recoverable now but perhaps most of it is.
If Recuva cannot detect anything, I doubt a paid program will do any better.
You can plug the old drive into a sata port on a desktop PC or you can purchase a usb adapter to use on another laptop.
If you go with a USB adapter, get one thats usb 3.O if possible.

I have an older Mac Pro (2006). I want to install Boot Camp and Windows. I have installed a boxed Snow Leapord on the machine. And it says the download of the Boot camp drivers cannot continue because they are not available. But at that point I have not inserted a windows disk, so how does it know i have XP?
So it appears I am limited to Windows 7? And where are the Windows 7/Boot Camp Drivers? On the OS disk?
Finally, since I have necer considered Windows 7 before, I assume there are no compatability issues with mainstream applications that were running in XP?
    Thank you.

    You're welcome
Just remember to reformat the partition (bootcamp partition) to NTFS with the windows installer, ensure to pick the correct partition.
