Where's the RAID???

After a year or so of good behavior, my RS480M2-IL based system crashed. I could not boot from ANY of my four drives in RAID or IDE modes. I have four Seagate 160GB SATA drives: two were in a RAID 1 set for the software and critical files and two in a RAID 0 set for video capture and editing. After the crash, all drives showed in Disk Manager as "unallocated" as if I had partitioned them (which I had not). While trying to rebuild the drives from backup, the RAID devices (4379 and 437a) disappeared. I haven't been able to resurrect them.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Is the mobo destined for the trash heap!

I did nothing for weeks before the crash. Didn't even install any new programs. The system was stable, no warnings at all. Then one morning, it would not boot. I finally booted the system from a backup USB drive(fairly recent drive image of the first RAID 1 drive) and then noticed that the RAID did not show up in the BIOS or in Control Panel. I reinstalled XP Home on one of the RAID 0 drives and am attempting to recover some files stored since the drive image was taken. I've been working with PCs since they existed and never saw anything fail in quite this manner.
I'm not sure exactly how MSI implemented the RAID on this board. The IDE mode still works fine with the SATA drives, however.
The system is on a UPS that checks out fine, we haven't had any power failures lately, and I cannot explain why both RAID1 drives appear to be trashed.

Hi guys!
After I flashed my bios from v3.5 to v3.6 I can't get my RAID up 'n runnin'... I even tried to flash the old bios-versions (3.5, 3.4 and even 3.3)
Luckily I wrote down all the settings concerning RAID before flashing, but it have not helped me! Not even when I flash to the old Bios version I had before, and why is that?! To me it's a mistery...

now I have
BBS-0(Network):IBA GE Slot 0208 v1210
no Raid disks to choose from
Please help me asap, anyone...

Please provide a list of all your devices and where they are connected.
It sounds like you have Windows installed on a Raid0 array on the Intel controller(serial1&2) but this is unclear.
Do you have another Raid controller and anything connected to it(Serial 3&4 and maybe IDE3)?
Do you have any hard drives listed in the Boot Device Select menu or just the Network boot that you mention?
What version exactly of the 875P do you have?
You need to know that when you update your Bios, many of the settings are reset to default. Often this makes the machine unbootable if you have special boot setup such as a Raid. For example, when I tested booting the Intel Raid0 array with the Bios set to "Configure SATA as Raid-No", as expected it did not boot. However after restoring the proper Bios setting, it would still not boot and I had to enter the Windows F8 menu and load last good config. Even after this, I had to reinstall the video drivers for some reason.
Anyway you need to try to get the Bios settings proper first so that your drives show up in the standard settings menu and/or the Raid Bios(control-I) and you can select them from the Boot device select screen(advanced features menu).
Then you can determine if the Raid has been corrupted by possibly re-setting and if neccessary re-creating it like Blazer advised above.
I would start by "loading default settings" in Bios.
Then set the Advanced IDE config like you listed above(it looks correct to me).
If you don't boot from the onboard Promise IDE, leave it disabled for now.
Check the "Raid Guide" thread in my signature and the "Pre-Raid Setup Bios Tweaks" for some other Bios settings that may help.

Where's the default location of multicam clip creation

This is silly but where does the multi cam clip goes whenever I create them? I have a fairly large project (8 years compilation) with about 1500 folders on a 96 Tb RAID array and whenever I create multicam, it's no where to be found. Is there a way to sort them out by type?

It took about 8-10 min to load it up. It gradually gets worse as the project complexity increases with more in/out, color graded previews, compound clip with subtitling plug ins, etc. Today will have no choice but break it up to smaller part.
Before multicam, it was only about 1.2 Gb. But whenever I add more multicam (about 3 hours from 6 cams all with AVC-I 100 codec), it grew to about 1 Gb more to about 2.2 Gb. There's no way I would want a 10 Gb+ library with the rate I'm going. I have about a dozen more multicam sequences from the 8 years of the doc. So have to chunk it to per year so that the library size is more manageable. Doing non-native media (rewrapped in FCP 7.0.3 from MXF-MOV) helps tremendously to decrease the library file size. For example, if I import native AVC-I 100 P2 files, the size instantly increases to 600 Gb for about 2.1 Tb worth of P2 media. For those who're doing all 4K workflow - I can only imagine the gigantic expense if this was all shot natively raw at 4K. It's just not practical yet until there's a single 12 Tb SATA-4 hdd. Now the largest single hdd is 6 Tb. Perhaps another 5 years for a it to be doubled from 2014. I've seen this trend since 2003.

Where are the CS Download Files?

Does anyone know where Adobe CS downloads to when you download it? I'm trying to remove everything from when it was downloaded on my computer but I can't seem to find where all the download files are.

Hi. I'm testing out a raid configuration and may need to swap out a few things for my Windows 7 PC. I have Adobe Master Collection CS4. After I install it, I check for updates- I have about 1.1GB of updates that need to be installed post my DVD-set installation.
I would like to keep/ save the folder containing the 1.1 GB of updates so that I don't have to re-download them again should I need to reinstall Windows 7 w/ a different hardware configuration. Can anyone help me locate exactly where the Adobe_updater.exe application stores the downloaded files?
Windows 7 doesn't usually store downloaded files in the "documents" folder- it normally stores files (when prompted) in the "Downloads" folder. Checking other posts, there is no valid/ existing path such as "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\downloads" or something a bit more intuitive.
It's a bit frustrating that the Adobe_Updater.exe application isn't even in the program folder set in the start menu, and that one has to actually manually search for it (I was able to do a refined search when I looked at the task manager and found the process ".exe" file running (actually, not running- had to kill it then re-run it b/c computer fell asleep").
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

MSI845PE Max2: booting from the RAID controller

Hi,
I have an MSI 845PE Max2 motherboard. This board comes with 2 extra IDE connectors from an onboard RAID controller. I managed to put this controller to work as a regular UDMA133 controller with an modified BIOS.
I have a CD-ROM connected to one of those IDE connectors. The CD-ROM is detected, but I didn't manage to boot from that drive.
I tried to alter the boot sequence on the BIOS. I even disabled the 3 pre-configured steps, leaving the option "Try other devices" enabled, but still wasn't able to boot from the CD-ROM.
So, this is my question: it there any way to get a drive (wether it is a CD-ROM or a hard drive) to boot, when it is connected to the RAID/UDMA133 controller?

I Download mod bios and went to flash and the Msi instructions on flashing were insufficent for the job. For one thing when I got to A prompt after bios. There was no c drive detected. Couldn't get to bios in C:test. Hard drive was connected to Ide 3 where i installed it with the 133 drivers during installation. I tried connecting it to Ide 1 to see if it would boot. It did and seemed to work but still couldn't get to c drive from A prompt after bios with C: . Tried booting with Me Boot Disk (the one I installed Me with on other systems). There was no ramdisk loaded. It just acted like I wanted to install Me. I gave up on the flash (but still would like to know how??) Got my maching running with 430watt antec, msi 845pe max2-fir, 40 and 60 gig maxtor 133 drives, pent 4 2.4B ghz. asus Dvdrom and Asus cdrw,512Mb crucial 2700,Radeon 8500LE,Sound Blaster 5.1. Had only a few problems. Still trying to figure out some of the Bios settings. Will post more later if anyone can help. P.S. How do you get all your statistics to show up at the end of your post without typing it out each time?? Any help appreciated. May the force be with you

Long beeping on the raid card

having problem with my xserver g5 i just brought i disconnent the raid card to test a next xserver that was beeping and when i reinstall it in the next one it started to beep loud can anyone can tell me what i do wrong please

I came into the office this morning and the RAID Utility reports the Battery Status as "Charged" and now the Overall Status is "Good".
I don't know when it changed from Conditioning to Charged, but it has now been approx 19 hours since the install of the RAID card and battery so the charge time is definitely less than 72 hours.
Makes me think my interpretation of the FAQ page may have been correct.
If so it would be nice if the FAQ page answered the question about how long it takes to charge the battery. Where does one submit FAQ page improvement suggestions?

RAID, 845PE MAX3 and the Raid user guide.

I want to mirror two ata/100 drives one of which contains an existing XP installation. They are attached to IDE1.
Page 11 of the Raid user guide is completely confusing me. MSI reminds you not to do what it immediately appears to tell you TO do!
In addition MSI say you can attach only ONE HDD to IDE3 so where does the other go?
I would be very grateful for a clear and simple guide as to how to achieve the mirroring, including how to load the RAID drivers before attaching something to IDE3.

Hp touchsmart 15 Q: where does the 7th brown wire go inside the laptop?

My friend has an HP Touchsmart 15-R laptop that doesn't want to accept the ac power supply line in jack. With a flashlight and a micro dental hook tool, i poked around inside the potr in and notice that i do not see the traditional circle and center pin configured jack port like ALL other windows 7 laptops iv'e come accross.
After watching a youtube video that shows an identical laptop being taken apart and then put back together,i noticed that this laptops pin out/power plug has a completely different configuration! There are 7 wires going inside the laptop from the port plug.I can identify 6 of them (2white: LED light/ 2 red: dc v+/ 2 black:dc v-) the 7th is a single brown wire, Its situated between the red and black wires on the back side of the female power port plug and as i mentioned, when looking inside the port where the power supply jack connects,the configuration is different (see pictute)Where does the brown 7th wire go?

Hi,
Open Intel Rapid Storage from the Control Panel and it will show it there. The Intel Rapid Storage Control Panel will show the 8GB mSSD under the acceleration tab. The computer actually combines the 8GB mSSD and the main hard drive into a RAID-0 array so it all appears as a single drive.

I go to the download page to download the drivers for this 551dn. I download all windows 7, 8, 8.1, 2008, 2012, so that i can put them on my print server. I downloaded them from here..

I get the file downloaded (LJEnt-color-M551-Drv-no-installer_12297.exe), i run it, get the security warning and Run. the file extracts - then POOF, the installer is gone.
where did the files go? They aren't on the root of the C: drive, a folder/files were not created on my desktop, no files or folder created in my downloads folder.
I was never asked for a file save location.... ??? really? is this this basic stuff?
Where are the files? this $$$ printer is a brick until i get drivers!

UPDATE- I FOUND THE FILES!!
First of all, HP... i'm not impressed.
All the files for all the drivers are in a series of temp folders...

There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.

Sometimes I can't get out of Day view in iCal. There is no where on the screen to select month view, even when I close it out and go back into iCal.

Sometimes I am locked in "day" view in iCal. There is no where on the screen to choose "month" view, even when I close it out and open again. Tapping anywhere on the screen or scrolling doesn't help.

Give this a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try full screen again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

Where did the Stream 7 drivers go?

The support page for downloading drivers for the HP Stream 7 tablet (any model) has disappeared from the HP website.
Navigating to the HP Stream 7 support page, Selecting "Software and Drivers", then "Go directly to software and drivers page", Operating System "Windows", then Version "Windows 8.1" (the only choices), then clicking the Update button, gives a message "No software or drivers are available for this product with the selected operating system. Please make a different selection, or visit the product homepage. " This happens using Firefox, IE 11, or Chrome.
These drivers have been missing for at least a few weeks, and multiple forum users have also had no luck finding them. Before that time the drivers seemed to come and go randomly, but they've stayed missing now for weeks. One dorum user has posted direct FTP links to the drivers, and they might be the latest version, but not really sure.
Where did the drivers go, HP?

How do I figure where is the data in a materialized view coming from

Hi: when I run select NAME, OWNER from dba_mview_refresh_times, I see a number of materialized views. How do I find more details about this view i.e where is the data coming from and which fields. The source table that is in another database changed. But the view on my database where the materialized view exist has not changed. I want to confirm from where is data coming in this view

I was just reviewing an ASUG presentation from Soledad Alvarado Ganzhorn of SAP NetWeaver Product Management at SAP Labs. It describes a value lifecycle manager tool that includes:

Is anyone aware if SAP is using this tool already? Will customers get access to it? This sounds like a replacement for the business case builder which I haven't seen either. It would be nice if customers had access to these sorts of discovery tools. Since we don't utilize SAP consulting, we are often not able to access this content as we initiate new initiatives. It would be nice to have access as it seems like we are internally selling their software for them.

Photoshop CC video: Where is the audio flyout menu? I want to set the audio level of a clip but when I click the little triangle the flyout only offers Motion options, no audio.

I created a video clip by ripping from a (non-protected) DVD & brought it into Photoshop CC for editing. I want the audio to fade in & out but cannot find any audio controls!
The info I've found online says to click the little triangle at the right end of the clip & I should get the audio flyout menu, but all I get is a menu with "Motion" options.
Please help!! Where are the audio options I see on the tutorials?

The audio was indeed in there; I could hear it! But I found the fix:
Some Googling revealed that the timeline video sprites should appear *blue*, not purple as in my screenshot. I'm not sure how that happened, but I scrapped the project & restarted from scratch - and though I can't say what I did differently, this time the video sprite in the timeline was blue, and the audio flyout was there! So it's all good, thanks!
