Where's the surround sound test program gone?

With  HD surround sound problems still ongoing for me, i need to run the test program again to try something, but I just can't find it anymore.
I've looked in all the obvious places - has it been erased?

    Authorization and Deauthorization
See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization for Macs.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

Where have the Quicktime advanced export settings gone in Keynote 6.3?
In previous versions, it was possible to select numerous options and setting to export a high quality Quicktime video.

The new version 6 and the previous version 5 can both be installed, many users use both to utilise the different features. If you had the previous version installed and have not deleted it is located in iWorks in the Applications folder. If you don't have the previous version it is available from Ebay.

  • Creative speaker settup test problem.... surround sound test prob

OK this seems to be a hard concept for the support staff at creative to grasp so hopefully someone out there can help me..... OK? I have a Audigy 2 XZ platinum sound card with?the creative?7. speakers. it has worked fine in the past. recently when I go into the speaker setup and do a test to see if all the speakers are working correctly.... front left...front center...front right.... now this is when things get stupid.... rather than it continuing to the side right speaker..... the side right "sound" comes out of the front right speaker.... and it does the same for the rear right.... then to the rear left but this time it comes out of the front left speaker?and the same thing for the side left. I did a reinstall of windows and did a speaker test.... I was happy to see that it was fixed all the correct sounds were being heard from the correct speakers. I thought this was over with until I just ran a test again and it is back. It seems that all surround sound features don't work, none of my games nothing. if anyone knows how to fix this that would be awesome.... it is really pissing me off.
    things I have tried....
I have tried completely removing all drivers software and my sound card hardware and reinstalling everything..... does not work. I have tried to install new drivers..... no good. I want to say that after I installed the new updated drivers is when it started acting dumb. Anyways thanks for the help in advanced.

well I have been trying to figure this out... I am pretty sure its something to do with the drivers.... when I go in DXDIAG and run the sound tests it is saying that my Audigy 2 zs does not support hardware buffering? it seems that it is using the generic sound driver rather then the correct creative driver... I jsut dont know how to fix it.

  • K7N2G - question about controlling the surround sound.

    Hi!
I bought a K7N2G a few weeks ago and yesterday i bought a Creative Inspire 6700 6.1 Surround-system. The only problem is that i don't get surround sound.
I installed the nForce APU where i could choose 5.1-sound but it didn't help, then i took a closer look in the manual only to discover that i'm using the wrong tool, the control panel-application in the manual looks a lot different.
I have been reinstalling drivers for hours, trying to get to that applications but i can't find it anywhere.
Could someone please tell me, if possible, where to find that application. It seems like i have to do some settings to get my surround sound. I know that the card supports 5.1-sound and i managed to get sound in all channels except the rear center - i played a multichannel MP3 that said "left - center - right" and so on.
since i don't know the name of the applications the only clue i can give is what the Applications border says:
    "NVIDIA nForce (TM) Control Panel".

that app is for the nforce one boards and the nforce2 boards that use the mcp2-t that have the apu soundstorm chips.....
If you installed an addon sound card you need to disable the onboard AC97 codec. And install the drivers and software that came with your card.......Or just download the Advanced AC97 codec and software from Realtek for the onboard  sound card  and use that instead.....
I think you misunderstood, i'm using the onboard sound on my K7N2G - wich is a nForce2-board. And i do get sound, i am just unable to control it and since no game or application will provide me with surround sound even if i enable it within the application - the K7N2G have built in 6-channel sound. I'm using analog output so i have checked "Rear speakers connected to line in" and so on.

  • HT1454 i connect my iPad to my tv with hdmi cable but the surround sound from the receiver is not working why is this?

i want to play my ipad on through my tv and receiver to get surround sound (not using the tv speakers) I connect the htmi cable to my tv and ipad do i need more cable to get my surround sound to play the audio?  i thought hdmi did it all.

if you have a 6th or 7th gen classic, you'll have a have the video out cable from apple.  only the 5th gen will play with a generic 3 connector video out cable.

  • How to turn the surround-sound-like effect off with headphones?

When I plug in the headphones into my ipad I notice the sound in the headphones becomes kinda surround-like. For instance I clearly hear keyboard clicks "at a distance" in front of me when using headphones. This "effect" is nice for keyboard clicks but totally ruins any music listening experience because any song gets distorted and is perceived at some distance when played. This becomes extremely annoying when listening to mono content. The special sound processing applied to get this surrround-like sound effect adds artefacts into the sound, please let me know how to turn this off Apple, I couldn't find any option in the settings.
Overall, I couldn't even imagine I'd get such an annoying and unprofessional effect applied by default without a possibility to turn it off. If I knew that in advance I'd never buy my ipad since currently it's not possible to listen to music with it
    Message was edited by: vvtrus

vvtrus, did you ever consider that turning off the clicks or other sounds might have an effect? So, before telling people who want to help you that an answer makes no sense to you, you might first try it.
Since hearing and listening to music is a very subjective matter which also depends on the quality of the headphones you use, it might be the case that you hear on your iPod something that you couldn't hear on your laptop and portable music player (both of non-apple design). Then you should blame those other devices to deliver you such poor sound. On the other hand, you might have a better hearing than other people which might give you the impression of surround-sound-like effects -- in which case we can't help you either.
Anyway, there are no settings to turn on or off "surround sound effects".

  • Where is the startup sound file?

I recently changed my Mail Sent.aiff to another sound by replacing the file with another more appropriate sound (I never liked the swoosh).
I also don't like the fact that the Mac wakes up my wife whenever I turn it on in the morning due to the gong sound. I haven't been able to find a way to change sound through the interface so I was thinking that I might just swap the sound file for it as I did for Mail Sent.
Can someone tell me where I'd find that file in the OS?
    TIA,
    David

Actually, yes, it would affect all sounds if you only have internal speakers. It would not affect external speakers. The internal speaker volume setting remains in effect until you change it.
If you use internal speakers only, you could use the second script (e.g. with volume set at 100) in an AppleScript application run as a login item. The tricky part is running the first script (for full mute) at shutdown. The way I do that is to run a background stay-open AppleScript app as a login item that mutes the volume at shutdown (or restart), as follows.
    on quit
do shell script "osascript -e 'set volume with output muted'" password "yourPassword" with administrator privileges
          continue quit
    end quit
I can also provide a script to make it a background app if you like.
