Where's the Tab key on the keyboard?

I frequently type lists of things in Notes and would like to be able to indent using the tab key rather than the space bar just like I would do on my computer. How can I make my list look like this?
Week of January 25th
     Monday
          Take car to shop
          Doctor's appointment
     Wednesday
          Get hair done

Checking the basics: For web forms, you must tap in the form field to bring up the keyboard.
Can you share a screenshot of the issue? Press Power and Home buttons at the same time to take the screenshot. It will appear in your photo album.

There isn't a setting. On the keyboard of a notebook that has this feature it is on the F5 key. It is the lit key in the following image from the keyboard of my current HP Product loan. It is the enable\disable backlight key.

Where's the Keyboard layout Map?

I remember in OS 9 there was a Keyboard option which would open a simulation of a keyboard that showed how the individual keys would change when you held down the "Option" key, or the "Command" key, etc.
I want to type out the number zero with the slash through the middle (so it's clearly distinguished from the letter O) but I can't find the keyboard layout option. Anyone know where it is in Tiger?

System prefs -> International.
Select Input Menu.
At the bottom, select Show input menu in menu bar.
In the keyboard layouts, check Keyboard viewer then close prefs.
Next to the clock select the international drop down and select Show Keyboard viewer.
It’ll stay open until you select Hide Keyboard viewer.

Where are the keyboard shortcuts listed?

all of them - does anyone know? when i go to view>keyboard shorcuts 75% of them are bland - where are the ones that are default? i bought the sandee cohen book and NO Keyboard chart is in it - seems like a big oversight to me

The few minutes it takes to install the plugin is a good investment. You
can search for features (like type "scale") and it will show you all the
keyboard shortcuts associated with that feature.

Where are the keyboard latches on Titanium PB 15" 1 GHz??

I'm trying to reset my PMU but I can't find the keyboard latches that are suppose to be between the ESC + F1 and F11 + F12 keys as stated in the article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449#faq9.
I looked at the 15" 1 GHz manual and it does show a space between these Esc + F1 and F11 + F12.
My Esc + F1 keys butt up to one another as do all the keys.
Am I missing something? (...yes I have a 1 GHz 15" Titanium)

The middle latch (F5-F6) has a screw which also lights as the num lock lamp. You'll need a screw driver to undo that one. The other two latches have a small ridge to get your nail behind.
If the keys are right next togther then you must have a 1GHz Aluminium PB... as shown below:

Where oh where is the Keyboard Map?

I have the complete Adobe font library installed. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to insert a double dagger or other symbols in a text file. I have two keyboard nation flags up top in the Menu Bar, but need the keyboard map for each,.
The Missing Manual by D. Pogue says nothing about it.

cmd-ctrl-space brings up the character viewer. It is also available in the Input menu (flags). Additionally, you can bring up the keyboard viewer from the input menu (that likely won't be useful unless the double-dagger is mapped to a key).

Where's the keyboard layout preference file?

I'm having an irritating problem with my preferred keyboard layout (Canadian) mysteriously reverting to other layouts, even though I have disabled all but the Canadian layout. It's only happening in one of my user accounts. So I'm looking for the keyboard layout .plist file to trash, but I can't find it. Can anybody help me locate it?

When you originally set up your eMac, you would have used the SetUp Assistant... there's information at the link above that might help.
I've searched high and low for a preference file that might be related. You could trash your com.apple.systempreferences.plist but you would have to reset your System Preferences system wide. If you want to try that go to the user account in question. Go here: /Library/Preferences. Locate the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file and drag it to the Desktop. Open System Preferences and reset the keyboard (Canadian) and see if that helps. If that resolves the problem, then that com.apple.systempreferences.plist file should go to the Trash. The next time you open System Preferences your eMac will create a new pref file for you.

I downloaded the nexius dictionary to my palm tx and it asks for a password. when I try to write what I think is the password I can't get the keyboard to come up. How do I put the password in?

Welcome to the Palm Forums,
When it asks for a password tap in the text field so you can get a cursor, also in the right corner you should see an arrow that points up. Tap on this and then on the bottom you should see ABC abc and 123 tap on the abc and you should have your keyboard.

Where in the keyboard customization for MAXIMIZE = the accent key (to make panel full screen)?

I wish I had 5.5 so I could search to find this keyboard shortcut. It should be set as default, but it isn't working.

But now I am wondering if I am doing this correct... When you change or add the KC (keyboard customization), if you just hit ok, it doesn't seem to save it.
Do I SAVE AS? If I keep going in and tweeking it,I notice it always brings up [custom] vs. the one I saved: MB. Do I need to save as and over ride it each change? Does it always bring up custom? Can I set it to bring up MB? Thanks

Where is the keyboard click sound located?

I would like to change the sound the Mac plays when using keyboard click sounds. Any idea where the sound file is located? I figure I can just swap in a new one.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and enter /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ScreenReader.framework /Versions/A/Resources/Sounds/ as the folder's path after removing all spaces. Once this folder has appeared, play the different sounds and see if any of them is the one you want. If none of them are, repeat the above process with /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/ A/Frameworks/SpeechRecognition.framework/Versions/ A/Resources/SpeechFeedbackWindow.app/Contents/ Resources/ as the path, again removing all spaces.

Where are the Keyboard Shortcuts for Acrobat X?

In Acrobat 9 I could delete a page by keying Alt - D - X. I could insert pages by keying Alt - D- N - F. Can I not do this kind of thing in Acrobat X?

Dave, thanks for the answer. It is quite helpful. I just wonder why Adobe chose to change the menu in such a way that negates all previous habits that have been built. Acrobat, to me, is primarily a "paper" manager. And to the extent that is complicated it makes my work more difficult.
Check out my other problem post with Acrobat X. It is titled "Default Page Size Not Retained". This one is causing a lot of inconvenience also.

i'ma make this quick and eazy to answer.. I have vlc and windows media player on my 17" macbook...
i go to www.cdnow.com, my job and livelyhood is spent perusing the songs and particularly lookin for new samples..you know something new to flip..
but since i have my macbook www.cdnow.com is no longer an option.. windows media player cannot play the files and vlc for some reason cannot play the real player files.. they get errors about unsupported content..
1. what can i do to be able to play music from cdnow.com, its matters not the artist the files jus don't play regardless...
2. now its bad enough that my livelyhood is being affected, jeapordized.., i mean i could "almost" swallow that but yesterday wanted to relax and sleep to music so i go to one of my favorite no advertising FREE 24/7 radio staions http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/audio/radio/ and try to pick any channel and they dont work.. talkin about MIME is not supported.. what the blood clot?
PLEASE , PLEASE somebody tell me these are easily fixable or that it can be done...
also where is the keyboard suppport for safari? in IE you hit backspage and it goes back one webpage or alt + right/left arrow to go back and forth thru webpages? or should i jus d/l mozilla?

aight my good people followed your instructions...got the flip4mac plus that peruvien install as well and THOUGH it toook a restart on the computer for it to work i can NOW play the .wmv files on cdnow.com the real player one's.. eh i don't want to get into em...

Tab key goes to IE Address Line

Using either Captivate 2 or 3 (it was happening in both), my
problem was with the Tab key going to the Address line in Internet
Explorer (rather than staying within the module as it should). The
problem seemed like it was inconsistent, but turns out there was a
trigger. After much trial and error I discovered that all tab
interactions that occured before I put in a Question Slide worked
just fine, but any that occured after the first instance of a
Question slide started going up to the address line. So, I am
either going to have to eliminate the question slides, or put them
at the end. I'm mostly posting this as an FYI to everyone (although
it may be common knowledge, I don't know...I certainly couldn't
find any reference to it, and Adobe themselves couldn't give a
solution), but I also wanted to ask if anyone has had this problem
and come up with a way to still use question slide s interspersed
within other slides that use the Tab key for interaction?

*NOTE: I found this workaround on the web and it worked for
me
In all versions of Macromedia's Flash Player prior to version
7.0.14.0, once typing focus was established (by clicking on the
Flash movie), pressing the Tab key would move you between fields or
objects in the movie - maintaining focus in the movie itself. As of
version 7.0.14.0, the Flash Player switched to a behavior called
"seamless tabbing". In this version, pressing the Tab key moved the
focus right out of the movie and on to fields in the web page, the
browser address bar, etc.
Needless to say, this has caused some difficulty to authors
using Flash (or RoboDemo) to create simulations where the learner
needs to tab. So, as of version 7.0.19.0 of the player, seamless
tabbing is now an html parameter. Here's the official scoop from
Adobe's release notes of that version of the player:
Disabling seamless tabbing
This release of ActiveX Flash Player supports a new HTML
parameter called SeamlessTabbing. The default value is true; set
this parameter to false to disable "seamless tabbing", which allows
users to use the Tab key to move keyboard focus out of a Flash
movie and into the surrounding HTML (or the browser, if there is
nothing focusable in the HTML following the Flash movie). ActiveX
Flash Player has supported seamless tabbing since version 7.0.14.0.
Disabling seamless tabbing restores the tabbing behavior of Flash
Player 6, in which tabbing from the end of the tab order inside a
Flash movie wraps the focus back to the first focusable object in
the Flash movie. Here is an example of disabling seamless tabbing:

NOTE: In version 7.0.14.0 there is no way to disable seamless
tabbing. Meaning that your simulation might just never work with
this version. Fortunately it only took Adobe one 'sub-release' to

So, if you're encountering this problem you'll want to:
Publish the project with html checked
Edit the HTML field for any media types which display Flash
movies (including flash output from other programs like RoboDemo)
and
Add the line
<param name="SeamlessTabbing" value="false">
somewhere in between the <object... .../object>
save the Html File.
I know this is a lot to take in, but it's really a simple
fix.

Safari 5.1.1 tab key failure

Upon opening a new Safari window (option-n) in full-screen mode with OS 10.7, the tab key is inoperative, preventing instant selection of the URL or search fields.
This unusual disability of the tab key negates the whole purpose of opening a new window in Safari, that is – navigating to a new URL or making a search enquiry.
Why is the tab key disabled in full-screen mode in Safari 5.1.1.?
Gaffes like this are unusual.
Has no one at Apple has noticed this?

I'm having the same issue. I don't know if you've received an answer but I have a workaround.
Work around #1: When you open a new window or tab, if you hit the Tab key on your keyboard before the URL has finished loading the tab focus stays at the address bar.
Work around #2: In Safari 5.1 preferences on the General tab if you set "New windows open with:" and "New tabls open with:" to something OTHER THAN "Homepage" or "Same page", Safari's tab indexing works as prefered.
I hope Apple fixes this soon.
