Where's the window information?

I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.1 on a new Macbook Pro. In my open folder windows, the information bar at the bottom of the window which displays the number of files and available space is longer there. I can't find it anywhere. I've check the View preferences, Finder preferences, System preferences, as well as the Customize Toolbar settings in hopes of finding a means of "turning it on", all with no success. This information may be trivial to some, but is a quick way of visually verifying and comparing files when copying or backing-up large numbers of files. Is there anyway to restore this feature?

One other thing that the Path Bar is good for in case you didn't realize it, the path displayed is 'live'. That is you an grab it and drag it to other windows and the path will be copied into that window. (If you drag it to a Finder window the file/folder is moved)
You can also grab just a piece of it. Say you want the parent of the folder you are looking at, you can grab that icon and when you drop the path only the part up to the parent is copied.
It's especially good for getting paths into the Terminal if you do any work there. Saves a lot of typing.
Comes in very handy once you realize it is there and use it a few times.

I have an older Mac Pro (2006). I want to install Boot Camp and Windows. I have installed a boxed Snow Leapord on the machine. And it says the download of the Boot camp drivers cannot continue because they are not available. But at that point I have not inserted a windows disk, so how does it know i have XP?
So it appears I am limited to Windows 7? And where are the Windows 7/Boot Camp Drivers? On the OS disk?
Finally, since I have necer considered Windows 7 before, I assume there are no compatability issues with mainstream applications that were running in XP?
    Thank you.

    You're welcome
Just remember to reformat the partition (bootcamp partition) to NTFS with the windows installer, ensure to pick the correct partition.

  • Where is the connection information stored for Mac Remote Desktop?

I want to restore Mac Remote Desktop connection information from a Time Machine backup to a new Mac.  On the new Mac, I've installed Remote Desktop from the App Store and installed all the files found in
    ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.rdc.mac from
a Time Machine backup.  But I don't see my old connections.  I also don't see any connection information in my Time Machine backup here
    ~/Documents/RDC Connections.
Where is the connection information stored?

The path is correct. You could try to get an console log during application launch. This log might give you information why the information is missing.

  • Where is the additional information for a file located.

This picture display the GetInfo on a file on my computer.
    http://www.digimixstudios.net/FileInformation.png
It saves where I got it in "More Info" and what program will start to "Open with".
My question, where is this information being stored?
I'll just be thumbing thru the API documentation to look for this, but if someone can tell me the specific API, that would just cut down my search time.

I'm familiar with Logic's tempo in the the event window and on the global tracks. My question is: how do I find the tempo information within an imported midi file? Logic is not recognizing the information, so I want to find it and set the tempos myself - if possible. (It must be possible.)
If you import a MIDIfile, or drag it to the arrange, you are importing the sequence data into your current project. In other words, regardless of the tempo in the midifile, you are importing into Logic at Logic's current tempo, ignoring the tempo stuff in the midifile.
if you want to retain the tempo in the MIDIfile, you must "Load" the midifile, not import it. This creates a new project with all the tempo information contained in the midifile.
Logic has behaved this way the same since the early days.
In Logic 7 the event window's width could stretch. Since then only the length stretches. There are always notes from the author that are cut off now.
I don't like the current event list window either...

  • Where is the Windows 8 Pro 64-bit ISO download?

Normal tech support has yet to answer this problem.  I purchased the $39.99 Windows 8 Pro download, and ran the upgrade on my Windows XP Home Edition (which is 32-bit OS, by design) machine.  The machine is fully capable of a 64-bit OS (in
fact, I have a dual boot with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit running in a separate partition).  When I finished the Windows 8 Pro install, it turned out to be the 32-bit version.  I discovered via the normal support forum that this is a limitation of the
download installer - it chooses without user option the architecture based upon the older Windows version.
I called support and they first thought that the MS store could provide the 64-bit ISO download.  That didn't work - they're researching it, though.  I tried support again and this time the rep said the installer chooses the architecture based
on what the machine is capable of running.  I respectfully disagreed, but that didn't solve my problem.
So, how can I get the 64-bit ISO download, without having to make an ADDITIONAL purchase of the retail DVD version?
    - A frustrated IT professional

I attempted to get this problem resolved and entered the truly bizarre world of Microsoft "Support."
The Windows 8 support line took my information, repeatedly put me on hold and then transferred me to another department.    I was again asked for all my information, again put on hold repeatedly and then transferred to a third department.
I ended up with a recording saying my call couldn't be completed and was sent back to the 1st support department.
I spent the next 15 minutes again repeatedly being put on hold and I eventually asked for a supervisor who again wanted all my information.  At this point I had been on the phone with Microsoft for over an hour and had gotten nowhere so I asked for
a refund.  The supervisor said she would process one asked me to go to a web page and click on a link that did not exist on that web page.  She spent the next 15 minutes putting me on hold and then returning to the call only to again insist I click
    on the non-existent link.
Eventually she figured out that there was a problem with Microsoft's web page and said I would get a call back within 48 hours.  72 hours later I had received no call.
I again called the Windows 8 support line.  After 20 minutes I was told that I was calling the wrong department (I had spent over an hour on the phone with them previously) and given another phone number.  I called the 2nd phone number and was
given a 3rd phone number. When I called the 3rd number I was given the 1st number once again.
I had spent over 2 hours on the phone with various Microsoft departments and ended up literally right back where I started.  I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company and contacting the Attorney General.
I can happily say that my experiance was the opposite they were freidly and helpfull told me I would need a refund as the 32 Bit Key Code would not work for a 64 Bit download ? rather odd as it was the same code for both 32 and 64 Bit versions discs when I
installed Win 7, and they gave me a web link that took me to my purchase information and I had to Click on the refund link, the email regarding my rufund was in my inbox by the time I had completeed doing the required steps on the web link, the email also
had a link for this same web siteI had visited as well. simple and painless, very stisfied with the helpline, OK so not being warned about it only going to download a software ISO etc. for the present 32 or 64 Bit operating system was annoying and while
a well meaning idea to ensure a simple upgrade was flawed, but easy to get round.

  • Where are the Windows Drivers?

    Hi,
When I run Bootcamp 2.0 And try to partition the drive for Vista bootcamps says..."After you have installed and set up windows, insert your Mac OS X Leopard install disc to install additional drivers and other software for windows."
So I went looking on my install discs. I cant figure out where these Windows drivers are. Anyone know?

You can also find the drivers in the boot camp download page. Depending on your flavor of Windows (32bit or 64bit), you'll download different updates for Boot Camp 2.1.
    Go here - http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
On the upper right corner of the screen you will see the Software Updates section. Click on the appropriate link to download the file you need. The files that you download are Windows executables and should only be downloaded in Windows. They can also be run directly from the website, but clicking the Run button (instead of Save) after you click the appropriate download link.
    Hope that helps!

  • Where is the tempo information in a midi file?

I thought that eventually I would just stumble on it and have a 'duh' moment, but it's been a long time and I still can't find it. GarageBand adjusts to a midi file's starting tempo, so sometimes I use that as a reference. In Logic 7 the event window could stretch out to expose hidden information - I don't why that's been locked up since 8. And of course classical midi files change tempo constantly.
So, how do I tap into this essential information?
As always, thanks for the help, Bob :o)

I'm familiar with Logic's tempo in the the event window and on the global tracks. My question is: how do I find the tempo information within an imported midi file? Logic is not recognizing the information, so I want to find it and set the tempos myself - if possible. (It must be possible.)

  • Where is the "Window Layouts" file?

I exported my 65 GB movie.
I didn't check the location; just assumed it was going to plant the last place I exported a movie to.
I clicked the "export" command again to see where it defaulted to; I can see the movie name, but the finder cannot locate either my movie nor the "Window Layouts" folder it is in, presumably because it's buried in a bundled file somewhere.
    RRRRrrrrr
I'm going to have to export the movie again unless somebody can tell me where the *** this file is...
And it was going so well...
    Thanks!

    Thanks, guys.
I just downloaded and installed a nifty little program called "Find File" which searches inside bundles and packages, too.

Found it, just where you said, Nick!
FCP really shouldn't export movies to a preferences file! That seems a little like a glitch to me...

  • Where is the formatting information in JTextPane or RTFEditorKit?

I'm trying to figure out how to find the formatting information in either JTextPane or RTFEditorKit.
Specifically, I need to get a list of all formatting tags in a document, and where they are mapped into that document.

  • Where is the window border stored?

If you open a finder or system prefs window, or even the top of an app like firefox,
you have that ugly gray border where the search bar and window-resize buttons are.
I just want to know where the resource for it is.
I know it should be in disk Library or Core but I don't really know where to find it.
I have 10.8 not that it matters.
If it's just an image resource then I only want to darken it, that's all.
I assume I'll get no help but I just want to try anyway.

    Hi,
The header/title bar as you call it will be inside the app package for third party apps like Firefox.
Mine in Firefox is actually themed and not grey.
Similarly Apple Apps will have a NIB item that controls the windowing and title bars.
I would expect as you suggest that these will be in Hard Drive Name/System/Library/Core Services somewhere.
But it is just as likely they are stored in one of the invisible folders

  • Where is the Windows 8.1 Key?

Hi, Some months ago, I upgraded my "ThinkCentre E73" to Windows 8.1 using the supplied disks. I now wish to do a clean install of Windows 10 from an ISO file but wonder if I will need the 'key'. If I do, where can I find it? Thanks - Joe

    hi Joe,
You can find the Windows 8.1 product key by following this guide.
Take note though that before you can clean install a copy of Windows 10, you will need to upgrade your current Windows 9.1 installation to Windows 10 then activate it (this converts your Win8.1 key to a Windows 10 key and syncs your hardware ID and activation license to the microsoft servers).
Once you have an activated copy of Windows 10, you can clean install will be able to activate Windows 10.

  • Where is the Album Information and Art?

I just purchased and downloaded my first album from the iTunes store. OK it cost less than if I bought the CD but it doesn't seem to have much information besides the songs themselves. Some of the songs don't even list the composer. And isn't there supposed to be album "art" downloaded in additon to the songs? If so do I have to do something in iTunes to access that information?
I was hoping that an iTunes purchase would obviate the necessity of buying the CD but if the additional information is not there, then I still have to buy the CD.
    Thanks.
