Where Should I put the time capsule?

Where Should I put the time capsule?
I'm using a wireless modem/router provided by the internet company, and both (the TC and the router) are located next to the pc, in the living room . Using this way, I don't have signal in my bedroom. Should I get a signal amplifier?
Thanks!

It would be better to use EOP adapters (homeplug is another name) or ethernet to locate the TC closer to your room.. you can use another apple router to extend the wireless if you need to.

  • Where should i put the DEFAULT&SMARTBAR

    Hello,
where should i put the DEFAULT&SMARTBAR ? and the main Menu ?
in order to be shown in each form..
    in using Forms 6i.
    Regards,
    Abdetu..

    Hello Gerd,
    Thanks for reply..
put such things into *a reference form* what is meant by a reference form do u mean the main form?
Create a property class (PC) for your FORM-MODULE-properties,
put this PC into the reference form.
Create there an object group (OG), put the PC into the OG and the inherit the OG to your local form.
Automatically you have then the PC inherited too.i did all what u mentioned..
Bbut the problem is that the DEFAULT&SMARTBAR
can't be seen in allllllllllll my forms in the main menu inspite of i put it into the form module property ->in the intial menu property.

  • Where should I put the sevlet

I just started to work with Tomcat and I compiled the helloWorld sevlet.
It's said from a book that the sevlet should be placed in serlver_root/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes, however there isn't a "classes" folder in my WEB-INF folder. So I put the helloWorld sevlet in the WEB-INF folder.
Then I type http://localhost:8080/servlet/helloworld in my browser, I get a message from the sever said "The requested resource (/servlet/HelloWorld) is not available".
Could anybody tell me how can solve this prolbem, where should I put the sevelt?

have ones more a look to your book - especially to information about the configuration file "web.xml" which also should be placed in the WEB-INF folder. This file defines which servlets should be found by the server and which request-URL should be mapped to this servlet.
for examples concerning the web.xml file see those already defined in your server. copy one and edit it for your needs. if you really want to understand what else might be configured using web.xml see the DTD for this file - it's pretty good documented!
    hope it helps :)

  • Where should I put the configuration file?

    Hi
I'm developping a web application using IBM's websphere as my application server. My application reads configuration information from a properties file.
My question is: what's the right location to put the configuration file? Should I provide a fixed path, or should I just put in the webserver's execute directory?
    Thanks in advance
    Pedro

I'd consider what the configuration file is cheifly
    tied to.
If there are only a small number of parameters then
put them into the web.xml as initial parameters and
    access then via servlet cotext.
If they are tied to some class, then I'd put the
properties file next to the relevant class file and
    use getClass().getResourceAsStream().
If they relate to the web-app as a whole, I'd put
them in the WEB-INF directory and access then using
    getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("WEB-INF/xxx.p
roperties");The one thing you definitely shouldn't do is use an
absolute file path. Thanks for the reply.
Forgive my ignorance, but how can I access getServletContext from my web application?
    Thanks again!

  • Where should I put the conc mgr mid-tier or backend ?

    Hello All,
Is there any advantage to putting the conc mgrs on the mid-tier as opposed to the database tier other than saving some memory usage on the database tier ? All the work would be carried out on the database tier wouldn't it ?
    thanks
    Dave

    Hi,
What I was really looking for was, if there is some particular advantage I could gain from putting the mgrs on the mid-tier ? The main advatange is having all the application tier files on one node which make it easier to maintain than having the application tier nodes split on both tiers. In this case, you will have to patch the application only once (not on every node where APPL_TOP is presented).
If I put the conc mgrs on the apps tier, this means that I would never need to apply patches to the backend, given that all the apps software is on the apps tier and the database software is on the database tier. If I have 2 apps tiers I could use pcp ? But since all the work is carried out on the db tier this (pcp) would be a pointless exercise right ? You cannot use PCP if you place all the application tier files on one node. If you want to have PCP, you will need to have multiple application tier nodes.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Where should i put the file adf-config.xml ?

    hi,
I want to enable adf authorization, according to B25947(developer guide for 4gl/form developer),this file should put to <application_ name>/.adf/META-INF
Is it correct?I'm feel odd. Another thing is :why container binding authorization user/role come from system-jazn-data.xml?
    thanks everyone advance

    Hi,
yes, .adf\META-INF is located in the root workspac directory. It is created automatically if you se JDeveloper 10.1.3.2, which has an ADF Security wizard to automate the setup.
The system-jazn-data.xml usage is a requirement coming from OC4J and has to do with ADF Security using JAAS for authorization. This is subject tochange in a future version in which JAAS definitions will be possible on an application scope (jazn-data.xml) as well

  • Where should I put the DB?

I have been working on a local instance of RoboHelp - copying
files to my laptop to work on them, then uploading to the server
for someone else to download and work with. Now finally have a
server environmen set up and was able to successfully connect via
robosource control...wondering recommendations for where the actual
project/dabase should be? Should it be on the same server as
robosource control? Then as a user we would connect, then open the
    file from there, correct.
I think it's already been said, but support/documentation on
this end of the tool is pretty - shall we say - limited.
    thx.

Hi kerstent and welcome to our community
Basically, with source control systems, here is how it works.
You install source control databases on a server. Then you add
source files. Each PC that is part of the mix then connects to the
database and manipulates the files. Part of the setup for using
source control involves configuring a "Working Folder". Normally,
this working folder is where you actually make changes to the
files. It is also normally on your local PC. If all files are
checked into source control, you may have duplicate copies on your
PC. But all the files on your PC are in a read only status. Then
when you attempt to check them out of source control, a couple of
things happens. The server files are compared against your working
copy files. If the server files are newer (meaning another author
modified them) they are copied to your PC, checked out to you and
the status is changed from read only to read/write.
Hopefully that didn't only serve to muddy waters... Rick

  • Where should I put the db password?

In a class or another file, I don't think this is a good idea?
Should I give everybody a db account?

I use the same ID/Pwd for the entire web app, because the web app has it's own business rules/security. Therefore, I place the ID/Pwd, along with the URL and other JDBC connection information in a file that's not part of the web servers root. I use a simple .properties file with a Singteton that reads its when making connections.

  • Where should I put WHENEVER SQLERROR CONTINUE clause?

    Hi all,
    this is my situation:
I have 2 compiled packages and one compiled procedure which uses the 2 packages. I want to start the procedure with sql*plus.
To do this, I wrote a script and start the script from sql*plus:
    SQL> @start_proc.sqlThe start_proc.sql script looks like this:
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    SET ECHO OFF
    SET TERMOUT OFF
    WHENEVER SQLERROR CONTINUE
    SPOOL /home/scott/proc_out.txt
    BEGIN
      SCHEMA1.TEST_PR;
      COMMIT;
    END;
SPOOL OFFThe question is, where should i put the statement WHENEVER SQLERROR CONTINUE ?
In the current position, the procedure does not start at all. If I remove the statement completely, then I get error on the first record and the procedure does not go on with the rest of the records...

    Thanks for your follow-up, Frank.
The bigger picture (imo, hence the "-ism") is still:
When it comes down to error-handling, the world suddenly gets very complicated and turns into all shades of grey, for many years.

  • Working position of  the Time Capsule, Vertical or horizontal

Positioning of the Time Capsule. (500 GB)
I use the Time Capsule in a vertical position right from the start (green light above). Now after two weeks using, at the time of a back up the HD makes a terrible noise. When putting the Time Capsule horizontal the noise disappears. Is it not possible to use the TC in a vertical position?

Another disadvantage in the upright position is that you are going to loss one of three antennas. There are three antennas position on each side of the TC except the back. The side is facing down on the table, that antenna is pretty useless in that position.
Hard drive is designed to be used in either orientations. The hard disk's head to platter gap is maintain by the speeds the rotating platter and the air flow on the platter makes the head hover above it. And when the platter is not moving, tension of the head arm will cause the head to press against platter. And it's has nothing to do with gravity.
About the noise, are you sure it's not the fan?

  • From Nabil Houlika Germany. Please help me by answering the following questions. The Time Capsule suddenly went dead. What should I do? Is there a way to put it "ON" again??

Yesterday the time capsule light went off. All efforts to put it on again failed. All electric connections are in good order and working perfectly. Please help me.

    Hi again,
I called them this morning. Admits my allergies and sneezing I was able to talk to them.
They will replace it with basically no questions asked.
I guess also having a MBP under AppleCare also helped too as the case is registered under that.
They gave me a few options.
The could take my credit card number as insurance and send me a new one and them I send them my dead one back, or I could take it into an Apple Store for a replacement there. The problem is that I have data on there that I want to maintain, so they said take it to the Apple Store or an Apple Service provider and they would handle the transfer.
I don't have an Apple Store in my city, but have a Service Provider that I know that could do the transfer for me, but I kinda want to do it at the Apple Store because maybe then they would give me a new one instead of another w year tombstone.
So I need to weigh my options.
I'll let you know further what happens.
P.S. my serial number was not in the range listed, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I think the key is to be courteous, respectful and friendly.

  • HT1449 I moved my itunes library to the time capsule. Everytime I put the computer to sleep, I have to change the location back to the time capsule. I cannot get the iTunes library to stay located in the time capsule.

My itunes library does not stay in its new location in the time capsule. Every time I put the computer to sleep or leave it alone for awhile, the itunes location goes back to the original location in the macbook. Then I have to change the location back to the time capsule and wait for it to reorganize all the files again. So the question is how to keep my itunes in its new location the time capsule?

    Welcome to the discussion area!
+Can someone please provide a definite answer, or at least warn against using the TC as a shared media device on a network. The whole point of getting such a device is to be able to offload large multimedia libraries from the laptops, yet access a shared library when networked. N'est ce pas?+
We're all users here...not pros...so you'll get few definitive answers on a forum with varying opinions about almost every subject.
My opinion would be this: Apple designed the Time Capsule for Time Machine to automatically backup all the files on your Mac and other Macs in the household on a regular basis and provide a way to retrieve a file that had been deleted recently by mistake. It's a pretty good router as well.
If you check the info about the Time Capsule on Apple's site, the main features mentioned are backup of your Macs and a dual band wireless network capability.
The Time Capsule was never designed to be a media server housing audio, video and other multi-media files and has never been promoted as such. Nevertheless, some users seem to have adopted the stance that this should be one of the benefits of the device, if not a main feature.
There may be a need for media server type device, but the Time Capsule, at least at this time, is not the answer. If you feel otherwise, you might want to speak directly to Apple and let them know via Time Capsule Feedback.

  • Is the Time Capsule wi-fi router compatible with the Nest thermostat? I've read where there are issues with the Nest and Airport Extreme (AE)? Is AE used in the Time Capsule?

I've read where there are issues with the Nest and Airport Extreme (AE)? Is AE used in the Time Capsule?
If so, i already have a wi-fi router, so can the Time Capsule simply be used for wireless backup instead of as a router if there is conflict?

A TC is fundamentally a AE with a sata chip included to drive the hard disk. Some slightly different bios to include disk functions, although most of those are also on the AE. So as a router it is 99.999% identical.
And yes, if you have another router you can easily bridge the TC and use wireless for backups and internet connection. Once you no longer route through the TC the issues with most NAT problems including port forwarding should disappear.. mostly this is due to all apple routers using NAT-PMP instead of upnp which is the near universal standard for opening ports.. without upnp apple keep their routers more exclusive.

  • Does it create a problem if I only connect the backup external drive every few days for use with Time Machine?  Should I have purchased Time Capsule instead?

After a near miss with my 4-year old MacBook, I finally wised up and purchased a WD My Passport for Mac to back up my hard drive. I connected the Passport today and have performed the first full backup.  However, I do not wish to keep it permanently connected to the laptop.  Does this create a problem if I only connect the drive every few days?  Should I have purchased Time Capsule instead?

    Hello,
I don't think it'll cause a problem, but I'd disable/turn off Time Machine before disconnecting, then turn it back on after you connect it again.
