Where should I start to import my table of data to FLA?
Good Morning,
I am cartographer/graphics specialist by trade but am working to apply these skills to flash. I've had great luck so far moving my projects out of Illy and making them interactive through AS3.
I am at the point where I'd like to incorporate tables of attribute data specific to my movie clips. For example, tables of demographic info specific to US counties. I'd like to make these data queriable by clicking on a specific county (mc). I've been reading some tutorials and it sounds like I should convert my data to xml (from a CSV or XLS) and then import the XML to my stage and start learning the ins/outs of calling on its values.
Am I starting down the right path? First off, I've not found a very straightforward way to get my data into XML. It originates in a DBF and i could easily convert it to tab-del text, csv or anything else. Any suggestions?
Also, should i rethink where I am starting with this and not use XML altogether, maybe using something else?
thanks in advance....
-josh
for relatively simple data using an xml file is the way to proceed. for more complex (or extensive) data, using a sql database is the way to proceed.

I want to learn editing in photoshop, from where should I start?
Jon has sent you to the right place, but I prefer a slight change to the location
http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-photoshop-cc/
Perhaps start with Jon's page because it focuses on novice users, but the list in my link will let you chose things specific to your requirements. I always think it is good to learn the things you will use over and over, because Photoshop is definitely a Use it or Lose it kind of application.
Good luck and have fun. -

gj,
Unless it has worked since the upgrading, I believe you should uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

I'd like to build an SOE - where should I start ?
Hello all,
I've not had to do this before, usually my supplier does the SOE's, but I would like to build my own with 10.4, all my apps and settings that I would like to have.
Where do I start ? I'm thinking I'll have to have a hard drive to install onto and the install the apps etc and after all done then make disk image from that ? What I would like is to then use that disk image for a netboot install...
Anyone done this and can offer advice?

If I wanted to learn about Web Services where should I start?
I want to start taking classes, but I'm not sure where to start. I know how to write java programs, but probably more on the level of a school project and simple programs. Is that enough for Web Services or should I take a class before a Web Services class?
Check out JAX-WS at http://jax-ws.dev.java.net. Specifically, check out the Articles under the Documentation section of the page. Bobby has written a very good white paper to get you started.

I have a brochure page in portrait format done in Illustrator. There is a series of photos in the form of a film strip that I want to transition across the top of the site as with Flash. I also want to add an interactive 3D window to the website. Obviously the whole page will not show at one time. What path should I take to build what I want? I have the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium suite.

Where should I start from to use HP4145B with LabView?
I am not familiar with LabView, but I have to set up LabView to make it work with HP4145B.
I downloaded the driver from NI, placed it at the correct directory, and can see VI's in function palette.
Also, when I run MAX, it shows "Instrument 0" under GPIB0.
When I click on "Scan for Instrument", it says something about IDN query, but now I know HP4145B is too old to understand IDN query.
I saw a lot of posts that say they can write to the instrument but cannot read.
However, I don't even know how to test whether my labview can write to 4145B or not.
My questions are....
1. 4145B manual says it has "ID" code.
I tried testing it by using "Interactive Control"
And I got this by NI Spy
1. ibsic(GPIB0)

There are four LED's on the front panel of HP4145B.
It shows status of HP4145B whether it is talker or listener.
LED changes properly to my command. (So I don't think there is any problem with harware connection)
But, I still get nothing but EABO error when I want to read something.
What am I doing wrong?
How can I test "ID" code?
(I do not have ultra-fast typing speed so I think I gave 4145 enough time to respond before I typed new command)
2. I tried to use driver I downloaded from NI.
Other posts say that people used "HP 4145 Example.vi" for testing.
However when I put "HP 4145 Example.vi" on the block diagram, I cannot run it.
How do I test with "HP 4145 Examble.vi"?
3. I tried testing other vi's such as "HP 4145 source setup.vi".
I put that vi on the block diagram window, added constant of 17 to GPIB address,
and other constants to other inputs and run it.
A new window popped up, so I ran it again.
However it does not seem to work since I see no change when I go into source set up menu directly from HP4145 front panel.
Again, LED indicator changes to LTN(which means HP4145B is in listener mode) when I run vi.
What would be the problem?
I'm experiencing a lot of trouble with this HP4145B, and I know too little to solve this by myself.
Somebody please help me with this.
Thanks in advance.My 4145b uses address 17.
I checked switch setting on the backpanel of 4145b and CRT on the front panel says "HPIB(17, COMMA, EOI)". Also, when I change address to 16 and execute vi file, it gives me an error message of "HP 4145 Define Channel; HP 4145 Send Message"
When I change back to 17 and execute, error message disappears(and no more error message comes in when I send command to 4145b), but nothing happens on 4145b.
As I said eariler, LEDs on 4145b seems to be saying that 4145b understands basic command such as "change to listener" or "change to talker".
In addition, when I try to read from 4145b from "HP4145 example.vi", for example by clicking on "Display Graphics and Plot" and execute, I get error message "HP 4145 Take Measurement; Wait for Interrrupt (GPIB)". However, reading is not the problem to think right now because I don't even know how to read.
I have Newport 1830-C with me, and I checked this instrument with same GPIB-USB-HS and same PC I am using with HP4145b.
It works with 1830C. Therefore, it doesn't look like there is something wrong with my PC and GPIB-USB-HS.
Anyway, thank you for your attention.

Importing Azure table Data to Hive
Hi All,
Have created a table in Azure. Can see the same in Azure Storage explorer under tables section.
I want to import this table's data to Hive.
For the blob/csv/text files we will use the syntax
CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE <tablename>(col1 string , col2 string)
ROW FORMAT DELIMITED FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' LINES TERMINATED BY '\n'
LOCATION '/xxxx/xxxx/filename';
what's the syntax for importing the Azure table to Hive.
Please help.
Sriman N VangalaHi Sriman,
Unfortunately, Microsoft does not have a Azure table storage handler for HDInsight. It is in the roadmap for future but there is no specific dates on when it will be publically available. One of our product team members has a blog on how to achieve
this using a connector available from github. Please refer to that blog here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mostlytrue/archive/2014/04/04/analyzing-azure-table-storage-data-with-hdinsight.aspx
The set up process in the blog is not very straight forward and it requires some extra config steps as there is no out of the box solution at present. Also, the ATS Hive connector is a community driven project, not a part of HDInsight right now which means
it is not officially supported if you run into any problems with it later on.
One easier alternative would be to get the data out of Azure Tables into CSV in your storage account and process it normally. A lot of folks who have built service telemetry pipelines are doing so.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Being an experienced Excel user before Power BI, I am just starting to explore the M and Power Query capabilities, and need help already (ain't easy to google this use case somehow):
I need to import the table which sits in the Excel file with header row in the row 17 of Excel sheet, with some metadata header in the preceding rows of the columns A and B.
01: Report name, Quick Report
02: Report Date, 1/1/2014
17: Employee Name, Manager, etc...
18: John Doe, Matt Beaver, etc.
Both (a) direct attempt to load as Excel file and (b) the indirect way through [From Folder] and formula in custom column -- both lead to the same error: "[DataFormat.Error] External table is not in the expected format."
Specifically, I tried to use the [Power Query -> From File -> From Folder] functionality, select an Excel file and add a custom column to access the binary content: [Add Custom Column] with formula "=Excel.Workbook([Content])".
It looks like Power Query expects a rectangular range with headers full-width followed by a contiguous table range to import anything, and refuses to load if that is not the case...
QUESTION: Is there any way to load whatever-formatted data from Excel first, and then manipulate the overall imported range (like referring to rows starting from 17th using "Table.SelectRows" etc.) to read the actual data? Reading and using
the metadata from header would be a bonus, but that comes second... The main issue is to get something from a non-regular Excel file to later work with using M formulae ...
Thanks!
SAMFinally found the answer to this one in ():
You Cannot Open a Password-Protected Workbook
If the Excel workbook is protected by a password, you
cannot open it for data access, even by supplying the correct password with
your connection settings, unless the workbook file is already open in the
Microsoft Excel application. If you try, you receive the following error
message:
Could not decrypt file.
ANSWER: So, will have either weave in the work with temporary unprotected files or requires opening them before updating the data source (although this almost defeats the purpose of automation...)
ANSWER to ORIGINAL QUESTION: password was preventing Power Query from reading the Excel file. For solution see above.
Thanks anyway for participation and inspiration, Imke! -
