Where should itunes content be stored?

on the operations drive or a separate data drive? I routinely run both Adobe Photoshop and iTunes, and my impresseion is that iTunes seems to work more smoothly when songs and video are stored on the operations drive, but Photoshop runs more smoothly when the iTunes content is stored on a separate data drive? Also, keeping iTunes content on the operations drive seems to reduce the number of issues related to updating itunes and syncing itunes-dependent playlists and the like.
I've got a new PC with clean drives, and I'd like to get this right the first time.

If the boot drive is used for things like scratch drives, it can slow the system down (a bit or a lot) because the OS uses the boot drive for swap files and such.
Do you mean to imply that when itunes accesses content on the 'operations' drive, it does not compromise the performance of other, open applications that are using the c drive for on-going programming operations?
iTunes does read/write from the HD all the time but it should not noticeably slow down anything.

Syncing -whenever I connect my iPad to my computer it ejects my external hard drive which is where my iTunes library is stored? What's the deal???
Anyone know how to fix this?

You can't connect directly to the external drive, but should be able to use iTunes Home Sharing via the laptop.

  • Where should itunes folder be located windows 8

where should my itunes folder be when i installed on pc i put it here Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\  put i found another itunes folder in mydoculments folder and it says that is where it was put after itunes 11.  so which one do i need

    See: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
It may be that you are seeing an alternate path provided for backwards compatibility and there is really only one iTunes folder. The one you should be using is C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes. The "My" or "User's" bit gets added on to the name of the Music folder depending on which user you are logged in as, but in reality the folder is simply called Music. Windows Vista and susequent versions attempt to support references to ...<Profile Folder>\My Documents\My Music and redirect to ...<Profile Folder>\Music.

  • Where the feedback content is stored

    hi,
if a user is giving feedback for a document. where the content of the feedback will be stored in KM.
can anyone give the path for that.
      all helps will be appriciated
    Regards,
    Shanthakumar.

There is no place in Portal to see the FeedBack content .We provide a folder path for the Discussion/Discussion Group/Km Discussion iVIew in iVIew property "path to root folder " .This is for reference .Suppose we can provide "/documents/discussions/New Discussion" as the folder path where the posts and feedback are supposed to get stored .However the content is actually in stored in the database and not seen in Portal . As correctly provided in the previous reply, study the article to see where it is actually stored .  I hope this suffices your answer .

  • Where are iTunes sync settings stored?

After upgrading to iOS 6 on my iPhone 4, the sychronization settings it iTunes appear to have been reset on my Macbook Pro. Another strange thing about this "reset" is the only settings affected were those for Music and Video.
I had updated several apps on the Macbook and needed to sync those apps to my iPhone, as well as a couple purchased on the iPhone since my last sync with the Mac. So ... I connected my iPhone to the Macbook, and after reconizing my phone the "Sync" button became activated. Since I was on the Summary page, I suspected no changes, as I had made none, and the Capacity bar was full to about .2GB Free, as expected. I pressed the "Sync" button as usual.
Somewhere between steps 1 and 2 (or during step 2), the Capacity bar dropped  to Green, Yellow and a sliver of Orange with 23.2GB Free?!? Whassup?? As there was no method (I am aware of short of powering down the laptop) to pause/stop sync in progress, which I suspect would be dangerous anyway, I was forced to let it complete. After it finished. I checked my iPhone and the music and videos had all been removed. When I examined the sync settings in iTunes, I noticed the Sync Music and Sync Movies check boxes were selected. All other check boxes below them for Music: Playlists, Artists, Albums, Genre, Include music videos; and Movies: Movie Names, had mysteriously been unselected.
Since all my files are still in the proper folders on the Macbook Pro, and I use Time Machine, I am not concerned about file loss. What I am concerned with is how did this happen and where are these settings stored, so I do not have to go through ehem all and reselect each and every one to prevent this from recuring in the future. The technician and his manager could not find the location of these settings, as we tried replacing an older version from Time Machine to no avail.
Could anyone please tell me where the Synchronization settings in iTunes are stored, so I might be able to recover the proper file and not have to reselect each sub-selection to return my music and videos to the iPhone? I can Restore my iPhone from the backup just prior to the Sync; however, these does nothing to prevent the incorrect iTunes Sync settings from removing my music and video next time to transfer/sync upgraded apps.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. For more details see below regarding OS, iTunes and iPhone versions.
    Sincerely,
    Wynne Hunkler
    OS:          10.7.5 (Lion)
    iOS:          6.0 (10A403)
    iTunes:     10.7 (21)

I think the device stores those selections along with which library they belong to. That's why you get the prompt to erase and reload with a different library. If you had restored the backup taken immediately before the upgrade that would probably have restored your selections.

  • My computer where my itunes library is stored is no longer accessible.  how can i add songs to my ipod nano without losing the songs already on it.

The computer where i have my itunes library is no longer accessible.  How can I add new songs to my  Ipod nano without losing the song already on it?

You will need that library copied from the old computer. If not, then you can take a look at this in getting 3rd party software to recover your library from the iPod. Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • Where should iTunes database etc. go?

If I keep my songs on an external hard drive (plugged into my laptop), should I remove all iTunes directories, etc, from my laptop hard drive?
If not, what files go on the laptop?
I just installed an update to iTunes, but iTunes still shows the old version, even after closing and reopening iTunes. I also intermittently get the ! in front of songs.

If you want to move your iTunes Library to an external drive you have to make an exact copy including all the files within that folder, not just the folder containing the music. Then you start iTunes while holding down the option key and you will be asked to choose a Library. Navigate the the Library on the external disk and iTunes will open that (as long as it's valid) and stick with it through future reboots until you choose another Library. You can leave the original Library in place if you like, it makes no difference - iTunes will ignore it until you tell it to use that Library again.
Note that if your Library is on an external disk you must have that disk mounted before you open iTunes or it won't see the Library.
A '!' next to songs means that iTunes can't find the media file - if it was in the Library it may have been moved, or if you copied the Library over it didn't bring all the files over - or if you keep your music files outside the iTunes folder ( this is available as an option) you've moved some of the files.

  • Where is itunes device backup stored on Mountain Lion?

Device backups used to be stored in the Library/Application Support/Mobilesync folder. In Mountain Lion, I do not have a Mobilesync folder. Anyone know? Thanks!

  • I know where my iTunes backups are stored, but when I click on them, there is nothing in the folders.

I needed to restore my iPad without doing an update because my computer has a virus and fails to download iOS 8. My iPad is jailbroken so I can't do an OTA update either. My plan is to restore my iPad, so that the jailbreak can be removed, and do an OTA update. When I tried to restore without updating, I had to find the backups and when I click on them, it says "no items match your search,"

    II resolved this issue

  • Where do variant values get stored in SAP?

    Hello
This is basically an ABAP question, but I am still putting it here. If we have a custom report (program) in R.3, and a user creates multiple variants for that program, is there a table which stores the values that he has entered for that variant. I have read several posts and have searched on the web and have found that:
    1. Most important tables for variants: VARID, VARI, VARIS, TVARVC. The table VARI has a field CLUSTD where the variant contents are stored are in encoded format.
    2. And the FM which does the conversion (behind-the-scenes): RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS.
But is there an a proper database table that store the values (as there are) in SAP?
    Thanks,
    Srini.

    Hello,
I think you can find the values in different tables like: TVARV, TVARVC, VARI, VARICON, VARICONCI, VARID, VARID_CI, VARIDESC, VARIDESCCI, VARINUM, VARIS, VARIS_CI, VARIT, VARIT_CI and VARI.
    I hope it helps!
    Thanks.
    Beatriz.

  • Where does portal details gets stored in the backend

    Hi Gurus,
Where does portal contents gets stored in the portal related backend ?
Example:  We have Content Administration under which we create iviews, pages, worksets and roles. Where does this gets stored ? do they get stored in some table as shown below ?
    Table:
    Parameters:
iview   'Report a Problem' iView Path      Add Padding Inside Tray   Allow Client-Side Caching   Application Name
    Values:
    Test       com.sap.portal.epsolman.EPSolman     Yes                                     Yes                                Testapp
How can we fetch the details ?
    Regards,
    Rashmi

    Hi Rashmi
To get the data from the portal database you need to use a datasource lookup.
    Context ctx = new InitialContext();
    DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("jdbc/SAP/BC_JMS");
    Connection con = ds.getConnection();
The following datasources are provided by default for reading data from portal database
    SAP/BC_JMS,SAP/BC_UME, SAP/BC_WDRR.
You can read more about JDBC Connector Service in the link [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/31/4cc81b275a419c8c72dca94366318a/frameset.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/31/4cc81b275a419c8c72dca94366318a/frameset.htm]

    Hi,
Did you press the Advanced mode when you are under repository manager?
If the forums repository is not present, then you did not install Forums Application.

  • Where is iTunes Match content stored on apple TV? I recently joined itunes match and it is working on my ios devices, but I can't find my music on Apple TV

Where is iTunes Match content stored on apple TV? I recently joined itunes match and it is working on my ios devices, but I can't find my uploaded music on Apple TV

It isn't actually stored anywhere, it needs to be downloaded from the internet before any content can be played.
iTunes Match content is accessed through the 'Music' icon on the main screen though, it needs turning on though in settings first.
