Where the %^)(! is the index in Photoshop Help?

There was a time when every Adobe product came with a simple pdf manual. Simple questions could be easily asked of it. It would take a few seconds to find out a keyboard shortcut or where they moved that feature to. Now it takes 20 minutes of searching, and ultimately Googling "Anyone know how to do such-and-such?"

Think the most recent Photoshop Help in PDF is this one: http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop_reference.pdf
And yes, I pretty much google everything, too.

  • Where is Photoshop Help?

I can't remember the last time I used Photoshop Help because I don't use Photoshop much. Tried it today and nothing happens. My menu bar switches from Photoshop to Adobe Help Center but no Help window opens in Safari or anywhere else. Help Prefs are set to U.S. and English. I'm running CS2 and 10.4.11. Is Help not an online service? Am I supposed to be opening a pdf or inserting a DVD? Could anyone refresh my memory on how this is supposed to work? Thanks.

I seem to remember that there was an update for Help for CS2.
Check Adobe's Downloads to make sure that your CS2 programs are fully up to date.

  • Help, where are the render preferences in Adobe Photoshop CS6

Okay, I admitt, .... I am an idiot that is new to Adobe Photoshop.
But help the new girl out, here.... Please...
Where are the render preferences in Adobe Photoshop Extended CS6.
I searched Adobe Help in Dutch already but they point me towards options that doesn't excist.
Maybe they were there in Adobe CS5 and I am reading an older version of the documentation...
But in CS6 I can only find the option Render and no Render Preferences...
    Thanks !!

Adobe changed the way video is rendered in CS6. Adobe Media Encoder in now used in CS6 only a subset of the Adobe's full Adobe Media Encoder is included in CS6 is a dll. I do not think you can add new Rendering Presets however you can change some setting when you use the supplied Reddening Presets.  Perhaps if you have the Adobe suite and have the full Adobe Media Encoder you can create some presets and add them to Photoshop Rendering presets.  I seem some compliants about CS6 Quicktime rendering presets lack the power of CS5.  The Rendering presets seem to be stored in sub folders in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Presets\Video\Adobe Media Encoder" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Video\Adobe Media Encoder"

  • Where is the "Photoshop Help Folder" located on the Mac?

    Hi all,
I am trying to install Strata 3D tryout and it is asking for the location of the "Additional How To Content" folder, inside the "Photoshop Help Folder". I cannot find the "Photoshop Help Folder"... can someone tell me where it is located?
Thanks a lot in advance for your assistance:)
    Christine

If you are not online and choose help, you'll get a html-based and non-updated version that's being read from your Libraries' Application Support folder.
If you want a help.pdf you can get it here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/11.0/photoshop_cs4_help.pdf
But by using the online version you're always up to date with Adobe, as probably is intended hence the help setup.

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
*Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
*Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • Where is the "stroke options panel" in Photoshop CS6?

Where is the "stroke options panel" in Photoshop CS6? It used to be right above the layers palette in older versions of Photoshop but now it's gone. I'v been trying to find it for an hour and a half and it doesn't seem to be in any of the menus.

If you're looking for the Stroke options of a layer, you can find that by clicking the layer you have a stroke on or wish to have a stroke on, and then clicking the fx icon in the bottom of the layers panel:
And it will open the Stroke options for that layer.
Another option is by clicking Edit at the top menu, and then choosing "Stroke..." (make sure you have a layer selected).
It will then bring up a window with Stroke options on it for that layer:
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need further assistance!

  • After entering the redemption code from Adobe Photoshop CC, I keep getting an error saying "This card was purchased in a country that does not match your Adobe ID. You can try signing in with a different Adobe ID or get in touch with us if you need help."

Hi. I'm a Mac user. After entering the redemption code from Adobe Photoshop CC, I keep getting an error saying "This card was purchased in a country that does not match your Adobe ID. You can try signing in with a different Adobe ID or get in touch with us if you need help." What should I do?

Did you purchase the software in another country than where you live?

Why can't we get Adobe Photoshop help on the weekends. If I buy it I should be able to use it.

    To all frustrated Photoshop users:
As has been pointed out, the Adobe Photoshop Forum is NOT staffed by Adobe employees (though a few engineers DO stop by, when they have the time), and we are but users, such as yourself. The difference is that many users here have decades of experience with Ps, and can often solve all sorts of issues, of a technical nature.
Ranting, and listing bad experiences with Adobe Technical Support (or Customer Support), will NOT reach Adobe - just other users, who might have also had negative experiences with Adobe T/S, but who are powerless to change anything, at a corporate level - also noted by others in this thread.
We, as users, have no access to any communications that you might have had with T/S - no phone logs, no case numbers, nothing. All that we have is what YOU provide us, regarding YOUR problem. In that vein, if you read this FAQ Entry, plus the one linked in Station_Two's Reply above, and clearly state YOUR problem with the program, someone will attempt to help you with it: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4587299#4587299
Please be patient, as we are all volunteers (even the Adobe engineers come here on their own time - it's most likely not part of their job descriptions), and drop by the forum, when we have a moment. Many users DO have "day jobs," and face client deadlines. They might not get by that often, and then with breaks in timing, that can extend for days. This is not a "live chat room," where "operators are standing by." However, with the number of contributing users here, it should not take too long, before someone DOES reply to your post. If they have questions, please answer them, to the best of your abilities, and do not hesitate to ask for clarifications, if you are not sure what they are asking, or where to obtain that information. Also, please be courteous, when replying to the users, who are donating their time - they get zero, beyond the satisfaction of helping other users get answers and solutions. If they DO help, which is likely, a simple "thank you," is the best that they can receive. If they DO help, please take a moment to let them know, and also use the "Correct," and "Helpful" buttons in the forum, to let Adobe Corporate know that you got help in the Adobe Forums - they DO count those numbers, though they do not monitor these forums.
Good luck, and many feel that the help FROM the Adobe products forums, is much better, than from Adobe Technical Support.

  • Where to set the Transfer Function in Photoshop CS5?

Where do I set the Transfer Function in Adobe Photoshop CS5?
My college newspaper uses Transfer Function to control dot gain in  B&W photos, saving them as EPS files.
In CS4 it was a button in the print dialog box, in the output section. It brought up a curves-like dialog to set a transfer curve. That  button is gone now, and the help files offer no help.
The help files say "Save your file in the Photoshop EPS format, and select the Include  Halftone Screen and Include Transfer Function options in the EPS Options  dialog box." but doesn't say where to create the curve.
Here's CS5. Compare to CS4 below, and the larger shot below that.
    Here's CS4
Here's the transfer curve dialog box in CS4 that I can't find in CS5

    Hello!
It might have been removed for the same reasons screen was removed: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3438135#3438135
I'd try to use the same workaround: set a document transfer curves as you want, save it as a template, then open it in CS5.

    You are correct.
The privacy settings will be those of the "trial experience" and that has nothing to do with the APIP.

I need help my computer isn't working and there is no was to get on my iTunes and I just updated my phone and now it's stuck on where it shows the plug connected to iTunes help!!!!

There is no other way than to plug into a computer to restore the phone. You can use another computer to do so, but in case you did not back up to iCloud your data and settings will be gone.
Follow this article to connect in recovery mode:

  • I am running a laptop with windows 7 on it and trying to use the save as feature in Photoshop CS6 and won't let me save as anything. Please help?

I am running a laptop with windows 7 and am trying to use the save as feature in Photoshop CS6 and it wont let me save as anything. Can someone please help me with this?

A screenshot of your Photoshop work area showing the open file you want to save as, the Layers panel open, and the Save as... dialog open might give us a clue as to what is going on.
To take a screenshot and save it as a file
For Windows 7, Printscreen, open a New File in Photoshop, Ctrl v to paste, then save as jpeg (the other trick was for windows 8)
Use the Camera icon on your reply to upload it.
Also File > Save for Web is a good workaround if you just need a jpeg, png, or gif.

  • Help! I am trying to use the scripts image processor in Photoshop CC.

Help! I am trying to use the scripts>image processor in Photoshop CC. When I click on it it comes up with an error saying that it cannot find the Javascript Plug In. I have the newest version of Java installed. How do I get it to work in Photoshop. Do I have to download a separate plug in? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Java is not Javascript.
Do you have a Mac or PC?
If PC, do you have this file on your system?
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Required\Plug-Ins\Extensions\ScriptingSupport.8li
If not, you've got a corrupted installation of Photoshop.  Uninstalling and reinstalling may help.

  • Where do I find the serial number for my Photoshop CS6 Extended Teacher software?

I just purchased PS CS6 Extended Student and Teacher software. When I go to my account page that shows my products, it says I have to wait 24 hours to process the billing. I have already been charged on my credit card for the total amount. I was instructed in the chat room to download the trial version and then put in the serial number. I also am not sure where to go to download the program much less where to find the serial number. It is not in any of my e-mails that confirmed and helped me open my account.

    This solved my question
    Thx
