Where to buy Lion for Macbook?

I have a Mac mini early 2008, running Snow Leopard. I never upgraded to Lion because my Internet connection was too slow. Now my connection is fast enough, but I can no longer buy Lion? My Mac will not run Mountain Lion. If I have to order over the phone or by email, how much does it cost? Do I get a downlaod code or is it shipped? Thank you.
-Eric

Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
     Snow Leopard General Requirements
       1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
       2. 1GB of memory
       3. 5GB of available disk space
       4. DVD drive for installation
       5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
           fees may apply.
       6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
           terms apply.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
     Lion System Requirements
       1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
           or Xeon processor
       2. 2GB of memory
       3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
       4. 7GB of available space
       5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
         1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
         2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
         3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
         4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
         5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
         6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
         7. Xserve (Early 2009)
     Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

If you buy it from the app store, the answer is no:

  • Where to buy serialnumber for photoshop cs4?

where to buy serialnumber for photoshop cs4?

Adobe doesn't sell CS4 anymore.  It hasn't done it for years.
The only way to obtain a legitimate s/n would be to buy an unused old-stock copy of CS4 that some reseller may have in their stock room, or to buy it from a private party that has never used that particular copy of CS4 to upgrade the application.
Both methods bring with them a very high likelihood of your getting ripped off.

  • Do i have to buy Lion for my other macs? (Have them as preinstalled in a new mac)

    Hello everyone
I recently bought an iMac running Mac OS X Lion. I also have a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).
I know that if you buy Lion from App Store you can install it on all your computers that you personally use.
I guess that is not the case when you buy a machine with Lion preinstalled. In order to upgrade my MBP, i have to buy Lion right?
I logged in from MBP in the App Store and Lion is not listed in my purchases (My MBP is eligible for upgrade).
    Thanks for any help

    Thanks for the clarification Allan.
This is quite ridiculous in my opinion as compared to the price of the mac, the price of Lion is nothing... But anyway..

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately, this is a major effort.  It's been discontinued and is very hard to find.  Sony has back ordered it, but it's in 2 parts, the brick and the cord.  Combined it's about $55 or so.  I found some retailed in China that are selling them for $70.
I just bought one on Ebay for $40 and hopefully it's compatible.  Sony has done a terrible job with these adapters and their exclusivity and reluctance to make them universal with their other products.  It makes it very hard to buy replacements.
    Good luck!

  • Where to buy lion server

    Hallo,
i want to use an mac, which isn't compatible to Mountain Lion, as Server.
In the Mac App Store i can't find the Lion Server App.
Where can i buy Lion Server?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
OS X Lion and Lion Server aren't sold anymore in the App Store, so now you have to call Apple to purchase OS X Lion or OS X Lion Server > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 They'll give you a redeem code that you will have to insert in the Mac App Store to install Lion Server

  • Do I need to buy Lion for each computer of my house?

Do I need to buy Lion every time I want to install it in the different computers of my house? We have 3 Macs with 2 different Apple IDs. The 2 ones with the same Apple ID, is it one purchase or do I need to buy Lion twice? Thanks!

You can purchase Lion once and use it on as many Macs as you own and control. You will need to use one Apple ID at MAS for the purchase and also use that for any updates - MAS notes both the Apple ID as well as the machine ID.
To make it easier, after the initial download, do not immediately install. Instead, dismiss the installer, and find it in the Applications folder - make a copy of it and put it in a safe location (external hard drive?). Then go ahead and install on Mac #1. When ready, copy the installer to the Applications folder of Mac #2 and install it there, etc.
Also note: the license for Lion purchased at MAS is NOT transferable; if you sell one of your Macs, you are required to delete Lion and reinstall the original OS.

  • SPSS - where to download one for macbook pro that works

    Hey Guys!
I have a very big problem, for my uni it is required for me to use SPSS and of course my university is mac unfriendly.
So I have a question if anyone know of the link for a free trial version of SPSS for Macbook pro 10.6.8.
    Take Care

    Welcome to the forum, mladizi!
Remember that Google is your friend.
The IBM website has a 14-day trial of version 21.
Comparison of versions 18-21 for Mac OS 10.5-10.8.

It may seem that way if you see more PCs than Macs. Consider checking with the University's IT Department or Bookstore to see if they have a relation with some of the retailers of academic version software such as OntheHub. These retailers offer discounts on purchase or rental of many types of software such as the SPSS GradPack. See the links to Student versions on that web page.
    Good Luck!

  • How to buy lion for another laptop?

I want to erase the hard disk and install Lion system in a old laptop. I want to install from a bootable usb. Can I dowload the Lion system in a diferent (and new) laptop? already I saw there is a link to buy lion and apple send me a number to download it. but I dont want to buy it and find the download try to install in the newest laptop or find the system dont dowload. I want to be sure.

Have you ever purchased Lion in the past? If so, then open App Store, click on Purchases page, locate your purchase entry, and Download it. Lion will launch the installer, but it will not work or you can simply Quit without installing.
If you never purchased it before then:
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

  • Where to buy holster for Torch 9810

    Hi,
I am looking for genuine holster for my BB Torch 9810.
I could not find it in us blackberry online shop, in accesorries I could not find even torch category.
Is it possible to buy holster for Torch 9810 on BB shop and if yes, please how?
If it is not possible, can you recommend me ultimate quility holster.
Thank you in advance and best regards.

I know, Telnor is spread out, that's the reason I asked. And he may have several options, if Amazon is avaialable to him it's a lot better pricing than the ShopBlackBerry store.
Personally, I like the Amzer clip holster. Seidio has always been overrated, I think.

  • Trying to update laptop. Putting snow leopard on so I can then buy lion for icloud. after restarting the laptop keeps going on and off. is this normal. white screen too.

    Hi
I am trying to update my laptop to Lion for icloud. I am trying to put snow leopard on first but after putting in the disk and restarting my screen is white and it constantly sounds as if it is trying to start or close. Is this right? Thanks

So far so good (I asked because you've posted in the forum for PPC iMacs…).
So what SL disc are you using? The retail 10.6.3 disc (white with the snow leopard pic) or a grey disc borrowed from another Mac?

    BE WARNED!
10.7 will not run a lot of your older software, especially PPC based programs and hardware drivers for third party printers and such.
Some of this great older software can never be gotten again as some developers decided to bail when AppStore arrived, not interested in sharing 30% with Apple and being subjected to their many "changes" and control.
10.6 has Rosetta and it run PPC based software, Rosetta is not on 10.7.
DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE UPGRADING TO 10.7!!
It can cost you more in software upgrades, RAM requirements, new external hardware and possibly slow down your machine(s) if they are dated.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Since 10.8 is right around the corner you may decide to either upgrade directly to 10.8 (if offered, I suspect Apple will to avoid 2 downloads) or wait to get it on the newer faster hardware than can handle 10.8 better than your current hardware.
My advice is if you have a Late 2010 or Early 2011 laptop you can upgrade to 10.7 no sweat, but anything earlier than that you may want to reconsider your options based upon your machines performance capability.
Original 10.5 era machines, those with only 2GB of RAM (4GB really is needed) are especially vulnerable to 10.7 performance and other issues it appears.
You may want to create a hold option key bootable clone of your present 10.6 install so it's easy to return to 10.6 if you don't like 10.7 or it slows down your machine, or software will no longer work.
