Where to buy stacked HDD brackets.

I'm adding more internal hard drives to my old computer and hopefully eliminating any need of an external drive for backup, etc.
I already have one stacked two-drive bracket for master-slave connection in use, but am getting an ATA controller to add more and larger capacity drives.
The only place I've been able to find the stacked HDD brackets for a G4 tower is on eBay, and availability there comes and goes.
Does anyone know of a more reliable source those can be purchased from?

I just made a pair of brackets for nearly zero cost. You use the standard bottom bracket and these home-made side brackets to stack the second drive on top.
Flat scrap sheet copper cut into two rectangles with four holes drilled in each. When screwed to the sides of the hard drives, they are neatly stacked and with a 1/4 inch between them.
Cut a square of sheet copper or other metal into a 4.5 inch x 1.75 inch rectangle. Layout your four 5/32 inch diameter holes. 4 inches apart horizontally and 1.25 inches apart vertically. Now make another one.
Apply one bracket to each side of the stacked drives and you get a very solid little assembly.
There you go. You just saved $10 to $20.

where i can buy a HDD for Imac?

Are you looking at an external hard drive or a replacement for the internal drive? Big difference.
The only place I will buy an external drive for a Mac any more is this vendor:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/eSATA_FW800_FW400_USB
I had a "big-name" external that was supposed to be Mac-compatibible but gave me headaches with both Intel and PPC Macs. After fighting the issues for a couple of years, I bought the US$69 "do-it-yourself" enclosure from the link  above, stripped the bare drive out of the "name-brand" enclosure, and installed it in the Mercury enclosure.
The old drive body has worked seamlessly and flawlessly since. The big-name enclosures seldom seem to have Mac-friendly hardware.
The vendor I linked is US-based but ships to some overseas destinations.

  • Any suggestion on where to buy and how to Upgrade MBP 15" (2011-2012) myself?

Hi, after my other post has been answered (thanks again!).
Now I'm looking for suggestions on:
    - where to buy RAM, CPU, Video Card, HDD (cheap but good )
    - and how to do this Upgrade myself
Fro my (future ) MBP 15" Late-2011 or Mid-2012 models.
    Thanks in advance.

    kvnMac,
you can buy compatible RAM and HDDs for those MacBook Pro models from many reputable vendors, as well as from online auction sites (if you know exactly what you’re after — caveat emptor). Upgrading either the RAM or the HDD is fairly straightforward; the only unusual tool that you’d need for the HDD is a T6 Torx screwdriver.
As far as upgrading the CPU or the graphics card on a MacBook Pro, that’s a different matter — neither is easily removed nor easily replaced, and I don’t know where one would go shopping for suitable CPUs or GPUs.

My iPhone Wifi is greyed out.
In Uruguay in Cellular Center (+598 2 903 3333) that is where I buyed it told me it has no solution, it´s a problem of hardware accepted by Apple, that Apple change the phone in this cases, but that they can´t change it by another new one because their warrantee is 3 months and I bought in december, 2012. It cost me US$ 1,250 and I want a solution because I saw in the Apple web that iPhone warrantee is 1 year and I am still covered by it.
I have the invoice dated December 24, 2012.
Do you have any solution to my problem?
It is hard to believe that a so expensive iPhone has a life of 6 months.
Do I need to take my iPhone to anywhere they can solve its problem?
    Thank you so much.

  • 2nd HDD Bracket for SFF P300?

I recently purchased a Thinkstation P300 SFF machine that came configured with a 3.5" 1TB primary HDD.
I would now like to add a second 3.5" hard disk drive, but I need a bracket to install it into. That should be simple, right?
Unfortunately, after multiple calls to Lenovo sales and tech support...nobody can find a part number for this hard drive bracket. I've tried to order it twice - once they sent me a 2.5" HDD bracket that fits in my P300, but won't fit my 3.5" HDD. The second time, they sent me a 3.5" HDD bracket, but the bracket was for the tower version, not the SFF version of the P300.
According to the system specs and hardware manuals, the SFF P300 will accomodate TWO 3.5" HDD's.
It should not take this much trouble to add a second HDD to a "workstation" class machine.
Can anyone help?  Is there a part number for this thing? Is anyone there?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1. Yes, my P300 came with a DVD/RW. I think it is standard height. The bracket holding the ODD is 1/2" taller than the bracket holding the primary HDD.
    2.  Yes...the front panel includes a card reader, plus microphone input, headphone output, and 2 USB 3.0 slots.
It appears to me that there is room in the case for the 2nd HDD - it looks like the bracket for drive #2 has room to be installed against drive #1 (the bracket should allow them to connect together without screws, per the hardware manual).
I can post photos of the inside and outside of the unit, if that would help.
The unit I purchased was from CDW...here's the URL for it on their site.
Oh...and I will need a "bracket kit", including SATA data and power cables. There are only two SATA power cables on the motherboard, and those are both already taken up, so I will need some sort of power cable splitter in order to power both HDD's.
I suspect that this is an issue on your end...I've contacted both Sales and Support, multiple times, and neither one has been able to find me the bracket kit that I need.
I'm getting ready to return the P300 to CDW, because if I can't install a 2nd HDD, it's not useful to me. I would prefer to keep it, but not in its present state.
    Thanks.

  • Where to buy ATI Radeon HD 4870?

I have just bought a refurb MacPro 8 core (blimey) but want to put the ATI Radeon™ HD 4870 card in it sooner or later, but when I google it there seem to be so many different versions of this. e.g. a 'sonic version' etc, and so on, and they all look different in the pictures so Im really confused as to which one to get.
Can someone please advise me which is the right one and even suggest where to buy?
    thanks:)

You mean Apple are the only suppliers of the one that works with OSX?
Yes, unless you can find another supplier that says their card will work properly with OSX in a Mac Pro.

What video format (including embedded audio) is able to be viewed and heard by both OSX Lion users and Windows users?
You have to make a distinction between the container format (eg, AVI, MKV) and the video/audio format (eg, DIVX). For instance, without additional software, QuickTime can play .avi files with the IndeoVideo codec, but not .avi file with the DivX codec). Further, you have to make the distinction between what can be played using an independent player, eg, QuickTime Player, and what can be played within the presentation software (Keynote or PowerPoint).
    You can refer to
    <http://mac2.microsoft.com/help/office/14/da-dk/powerpoint/item/7acce321-36fb-48d 6-8c76-12cb3a0063ee>
for suggestions. In practice, for presentation clips, I think you're limited to MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. I don't know if an additional MPEG-2 QuickTime component is required under Lion, you'll have to check that yourself. So, in the end, it's MPEG-4. Both Keynote and PowerPoint Win/Mac should be able to handle it.
can anyone suggest a safe application that I can purchase from the apple app store that will allow me to convert video files
What's a 'safe application'? And why do you have to buy it from the App Store (yuck!)?
Handbrake, as mentioned by X423424X, is free and works very well. There are probably others, too.
this forum is the best place to learn
Perhaps, but it may not be the place to get answers to this question. Try a PowerPoint Mac user forum, they would have more experience in these x-platform issues. This forum is oriented more towards the hardware side of the MBP platform.

  • Advice on where to buy a vzw iPhone 4s without contract

I would like an iPhone 4s without extending my contract or paying full price. I have Verizon. Is there any recommendations on where to buy used or refurbished phone 4s.

Meg makes a very good point, not to be ignored just to save some $$.  If the phone cannot have been legally off-contract for at least another year, you must be absolutely sure that some provider somewhere will activate it.
Else you have a $450 (assuming you can find that price) paperweight.

  • Where to buy Canon original accessories ??

The original boxes with some accessories of my new purchase. 7D Mk2 and 24 70 F4IS were taken by somebody from my front porch. (My bad. I put the Canon boxes inside a snow thrower box. The big box was left outside the front porch pending sorting for disposal and it was gone in an hour)
Now, I just have the camera and lens plus chargers and caps. Everything else is gone.
I am looking to buy back whatever is missing. I have emailed Canon e-store but have not received reply from them. Any suggestions where to buy back the missing cable protector, USB cable, disc, lens hood, lens pouch and others.
    Thanks for any experience shared.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm trying to figure out what "everything else" is that's gone missing.
The lens would have included a storage bag, the lens hood, and a front & back cap.  It would have also included an instruction sheet (you can download that electronically) and the warranty card (but you can register that online and don't need the card.)
You can get a list of everything that would have been in the box here:  http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_7d_mark_ii#BoxContent
    Basically it would have had
    - camera body (which you have)
    - body cap (not sure if you have that, but that's easily replaced)
    - Canon wide strap for 7D II (and this would have had a small rubber eyepiece cover on the strap for taking long exposure shots.  But if you've attached that to the camera -- and most people do -- then I suspect you still have that.
    - Battery charger LC-E6 (but I think you said you have that)
    - Battery LP-E6N (but I suspect that was probably in your camera if you have the camera - so hopefully that's fine)
    - USB interface cable (you probably lost that, but fortunately it's easily replaced and it's a standard cable you could pick up most anywhere.  Just make sure the USB cable has the USB "mini" connector on the camera side AND that (very important) the cable is not a "charging" cable.  These cables are often used for charging mobile phones and those cables typically don't wire the data pins... just the power pins.  The camera needs a cable with "data" pins.
    - Digital Solutions Disk (downloadable at Canon website - no loss there.  In fact the download is probably more current than the disk.)
    - Instruction manual (also downloadable)
    - Warranty card (but you can register the camera online and do not need the physical warranty card.)

  • IMac - Where to buy replacement HD fan (Early 2009, 20") MB417LL/A

The fan is old and worn out, and  I need a replacement HD fan!
Where to buy replacement HD fan? Link?
If I can I buy from Apple, link?
    Early 2009, 20" 2,66 Mhz, MB417LL/A?

You might find a better deal on eBay from a highly rated seller.
I've also had a good experience with this place, who might have it.
    http://www.cwioutlet.com/
They also have an eBay store. I checked out all the possibilities, including the one you were just given, and cwi was the best price-wise. For what I needed, same seller, the direct one linked above was less expensive than their eBay store.

  • Where to buy iPod???

I am getting ready to buy a 5.5 gen. 30gb iPod and I was wondering where's the better place to buy one at...at an Apple Store or a place like Best Buy in regards to who is better at fixing/replace broken iPod? Or are they the same???
      Windows XP

You can always take it to an Apple store no matter where you buy it.
Best Buy simply tries to Restore them and if that doesn't fix them, they send them to Apple.

  • Where to buy my iPhone 5 from? I will be living in Canada for a while after 6 months. And returning to the UK regularly so I want an unlocked iPhone so I can use a local sim in Canada and a local sim in the UK to keep roaming costs down. But which model?

Thank you for you help in advance

If you buy an iPhone at the UK or Canadian Apple stores, it should work on the GSM frequencies in both countries. LTE will not work as the LTE channels are different in each country and each iPhone sold in each country is only compatible on LTE channels of that particular country. Other wise it should be fine.
Be aware that only the Apple store (retail or online) sells the unlocked iPhone in the UK. I think the situation is similar in Canada. (It is in the US).
