Where to configure the SCAN address?

Hi,
I'm in the middle of installing the Grid infrastructure cluster for Oracle 11gR2 RAC on AIX 6.1
I had defined the public IPs, private IPs and interconnects in the DNS and hosts files. I am not using GNS because we use static IP Address, no DHCP.
during the installation, I will be asked for SCAN IP address, which I prepared and resolved by DNS, but I don't know where to configure it
The SCAN IP address is not pingable but can be lookedup and I get the reply to it
Where I put it, in the Rack Switch or shall I choose different installation method.
Kindly advice
Regards,
C.

Oracle is clear about the use of /etc/hosts to configure the SCAN:
See Note: *11gR2 Grid Infrastructure Single Client Access Name (SCAN) Explained [ID 887522.1]*
Instead of DNS or GNS, Can we use '/etc/hosts' to resolve SCAN?
Oracle strongly recommends that you do not configure SCAN VIP addresses in the hosts file.  If you use the hosts file to resolve SCANs, then you will only be able to resolve to one IP address and you will have only one SCAN address - be sure to provide a hosts file entry for each SCAN address in hosts file in same order.
If hosts file is used to resolve SCAN hostname, you will receive Cluster Verification Utility failure at end of installation (See NOTE: 887471.1 for more details)
However, since you have already installed with the configuration in the /etc/hosts, you can fix this by configuring the IP addresses in the DNS (since you don't use GNS) and follow the following note to modify the SCAN settings:

  • The car gauge app available from the itunes store utilizes an OBDII Bluetooth adapter, but I can't configure the Bluetooth address. How can I use this app I just installed, it has to have the Bluetooth address configured.

    I saw an advertisement in a car magazine for an app that would provide gauge read outs available for download from the app store. So I went to the app store, found the app, downloaded and installed it. I then purchased the Bluetooth OBD hardware adapter required to transmit the data from the car to the phone. The adapter has to be configured for the app to communicate with it. This is an apple approved app. But everything I've read says that apple will not allow iPhone owners to make any adjustments to their Bluetooth addresses. And that iPhone only provides Bluetooth connectivity to basic head sets speakers and audio formats through the car stereos ( but no audio streaming).
    Bottom line, apple approved app and hardware that can't be configured unless I perform a jailbreak? I don't want to JB the phone but it seems that apple has left me with no other options. I've already invested time and money on this software and hardware. Their must be a legitimate way to use this apple approved software. Does anyone know how to adjust/configure bluetooth settings/addresses?

    Generally, if you have to enter a code for bluetooth, your iPhone will ask you to enter a 4 digit code when pairing.  Check the instructions for the device you are trying to pair with your iPhone.  The instructions should give you the code in the pairing instructions, if a code is required.

  • Where to mention the IP address in a  JSP dyn page

    Hi ,
    I am creating a mail sending system with Javamail.
    Created the JSP dyn page,
    wrote the event handler in the java file. and all.
    now I have to mention the IP address of the SMTP server.
    where should I do this....
    inside the event handler itself?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    The button tag in the jsp looks like this
    <hbj:button
            id="sendEmail"
            text="sendEmail"
            width="125px"
            tooltip="Click here to send mail"
            onClick="sendEmail"
            disabled="false"
            design="STANDARD"
            />
    The function to handle the button eventing occurs in the dynpage  . The function looks like
    public void sendEmail (Event event) { ..coding.. }
    Now when the button is clicked, the control is transferred to this event handler sendEmail and the code with init starts executed.
    Hope it is clear...

  • Xfce keyboard shortcuts -- where to configure the def folder? [solved]

    Hello,
    I've moved my user's home directory, the old one still exists.
    Now, when I run terminal via a shortcut, it opens at the old location. For thunar, it is the same.
    I haven't been able to find where to configure that.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you

    I've created the new user via useradd or so, then I've copied the content of the another user's directory to the new one. (including the hidden files)
    I've removed the old directory and it's fine now. Dunno why is that so, but it works.  Thanks for the hint

  • Where to Configure the Price for the UoM Conversion

    Hi All,
    I have a requirment from my client here that he wants to change the UoM of the material at the billin document level. The UoM can be changed but I realized once it is changed the price has gone all wrong. Where can I configure the price for the UoM conversion because I cannot find it anywhere in SD itself.
    Appreciate all of your inputs.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Prashant,
    I am trying to maintain the same material with different UoM but when I do so it says that the current condition is being processed at the current session. I guessed it meant that the conditiont record for that material type already exists?
    How do I rectify this problem because when I enter the new line of material with the new UoM disappears.
    Appreciate your input in this,
    Thanks a lot!

  • Where to configure the auto output generation upon goods receipt

    Dear all,
    I need to configure the auto generate of the output message upon the goods receipt. How do I do that?
    Thanks for advice.
    Regards,
    Edwin

    Hi friend
    Apart from Maintaining condition record as suggested in previous thread one more important activity is
    In Migo screen on Header data section inside generaltab
    just below Posting date feild you will find Printer Icon right hand side to that there is one check box, this must be checked either manually at the time of GR/GI creation or is  preselected if the parameter NDR has been set to X (capital letter!) in your user master recordset. This is preselected if the parameter NDR has been set to X (capital letter!) in your user master record
    Reward if usefull

  • INS-40724 No locally defined network interface matches the SCAN address

    Hi All,
    Getting the above error.
    I verified that:
    Public IP on both nodes is Primary interface
    SCAN IP are on same subnet as Public IP network interface
    SSH connectivity is verified on both nodes.
    thanks

    HI,
    Define a public interface with a subnet matching the one you want to use for the SCAN. None of the locally defined network interfaces has a subnet matching the SCAN subnet.

  • Where to configure the pcr

    For my requirement of payroll I need to write a Pcr can any body guide me to do so, and can u guide me where it I can configure for better functioning.
    My requirement is calculate the food allowance and conveyance
    allowance on daily basis, if the employee is absent on the day he might eligible to get the allowance.
    thanks
    Roopesh

    Hi
    It is better to write a PCR in time Management to get the number of days an employee is absent for a month in a time wage type....pass this time wage type to payroll where another PCR calculates the amount to be deducted or paid based on the number of days the employee has worked.
    PCRs can be accessed thru T PE02 ....time management PCr to be insterted in time evaluation schema(TM00/TM01/TM04) and the payroll pcr should be placed in right place with in payroll schema(IN00)
    hope this explanation helps
    cheers

  • Using log4j in EJB: where to configure the logging service?

    Hi there,
    I have a question on how to use log4j in EJBs. Details:
    I want to provide a static final Logger instance in each bean class. This logger will be used by my bean instance to log some interesting messages. The log4j service should be initialized (by calling BasicConfigurator.configure() for example) only once before any message is logged. So where should i place the initialization code?
    I know that for a web app, i can define a ServletContextListener implementation to do the initialization work when my web app is loaded. Is there anything similar for EJB?
    Thanks in advance.
    heavyz

    Hi xHacher,
    do you mean something like this?
    public class LogFactory {
        static {
            BasicConfigurator.configure();
        public static Logger getLogger(Class clazz) {
            return Logger.getLogger(clazz);
    }And in each of my bean class, i may get the logger by using:
    private static final Logger log = LogFactory.getLogger(MyBean.class);The code above ensures that log4j is well initialized before any logger instance is created. But any better solutions?

  • In HELLO Where doI put the email address of a contact.

    I must be very stupid (admitted) but I cannot get Hello to work for me. Where do I put the email adddress of a person I wish to contcact.

    Hi Brad,
    I really appreciate your taking the effort to help - I must be the greatest of idiots or someting is wrong with my system. I click on the Hello button at the top of my screen and this brings up a panel stating "conversation 1" and below that "Start a conversation" in a blue box. I cannot see the two tabs you refer to "one for chat and other for contacts."
    Unfortunately I am going away for a few days and will not be able to respond, but certainly will when I return.
    Thank you for your interest.

  • Where to configure the mail server of GRC access control 5.3?

    We changes our SMTP server in SAP and we need to configure also the mail server in Virsa but i dont know how. Can someone help me how to change the SMTP server in VIRSA/SAP GRC.
    Thank you and have a good day ahead.

    Hi topnnehj,
    In GRC 5.3 the log reports for firefighter access are sent from the back-end system. So, if you´re using the firefighter module, after a mail server change you have to set the parameters in tx. SCOT acordingly. Also you have to change in CUP if you´re using CUP workflow notifications via e-mail.

  • Where to configure the variable $baseurl in oim?

    Hi all,
    I am using the notification template located in OIM user and administrative console -> Advance -> System ..
    and there, there is a template that uses the $baseUrl variable. All is fine until want to send the notification, because when the notification is send, the baseurl contains a hostname incorrect, I mean:
    I want that the $baseurl be "oim.mycompany.com", but it looks like "idm.mycompany.com", and its an error because if the user wants to access to the OIM, he couldn´t access.
    Is there somewhere to configure this $baseurl variable? (in OIM or into the database or in weblogic, I've been tryed but not found success.)
    Thanks!

    Check the OimFrontEndURL     value in the system MBean browser for OIM from EM.
