The exact description should be:
Acrobat 8.1 SDK is now available FREE of charge to all users. Although developers can use the SDK to create software and plug-ins to interact and customize FREE Adobe Reader, developers can NOT use the SDK to create software and plug-ins to interact and customize Acrobat without buying (NOT FREE) Acrobat.
But, Aandi, please do not misunderstand me: I was NOT intenting to argue with you. Simply I felt very frustarted and upset by Adobe's policy.
Our customers just need to read .pdf files. They wish our c#.net application can open the file they select from our app, and automatically jump to the page they preselect, and save the paper numbers they select this time so that they can use next time. They do not need edit/save/delete/... functions at all.
However, based on what you said, our customers will have to buy hundreds of Acrobat for the functions they will never allowed to use. (Those .pdf files are read only legal papers, no modification is allowed).

Didnt Find Acrobat SDK 9.1 Installer or setup file when Downloaded Acrobat SDK 9.1

Hi I have downloaded Acorbat SDK 9.1 from the following link http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/?view=downloads.
I got the "sdk91_v2_win.zip" file . When i extracted files i didint find any setup or installer All it contains is "ActionScriptReport , Documentation, IntAppCommunicationSupport,Javascriptsupport,NonAdobeSupport,OtherSup port,PluginSupport" folders. I have attached the image below.

Follow the link again, maybe the text had not been updated when you last looked, it says:
The SDK is included as a custom installation type when you install Xcelsius 2008 SP3, refer to the Xcelsius 2008 SP3 install guide for more details
So the SDK is included with Xcelsius 2008 SP3, it is no longer available for download on its own as you need Xcelsius 2008 SP3 to test your add-on anyway.

When you say Security Extension, I'm assuming you mean a MDEX Security Manager and not something that is Liferay specific. If that's the case, you don't need to install the EID SDK but it would 100% absolutely make things easier.
To illustrate, I've built multiple state managers, multiple security managers and even a cache manager across 5-6 versions of EID and I think I would burn at least a day, probably two, trying to set up an Eclipse environment to build an extension without the SDK. Using the SDK makes your life easier, not harder.
As to the rest of your question, yes the SDK requires Ant because when the SDK creates the skeleton of your project (complete with sample code) for you, it also creates an Ant Build XML to make things easier for you. One other note, if you're creating a Security Manager, you'll want to use create-mdexsecuritymanager.bat, not create-mdexstatemanager.bat.

it's probably in the archives somewhere, but I have to wonder why you want that specific build.
If your code relies on some bug in it that was fixed in later versions, your code is buggy.

It is a big SDK and to learn its features requires a lot of reading. But to start with I guess I should start with "Introduction to SDK".
Since you want to control Acrobat from another application you should consider this under "Interapplication communication". You will be using OLE/COM.

Acrobat sdk, not able to run samples, getting a message, unable to start the program

I have downloaded Acrobat sdk XI and tried to run plugin samples in visual studio 2010, It is build successfully but when I try to run the program am getting an error message saying " Unable to start Program 'C:\Users\downloads\sdk110_VI_win\Adobe\acrobatXISdk\Version1\Plugin Support\samples\BasicPlugin\Win32\Debug\BasicPlugin.api'."
Can anybody help me finding out why am getting this message.

How do you run the program?
I need to copy the compiled BasicPlugin.api under Acrobat\plug_ins folder. I can create a subfolder of plug_ins and copy the .api file there. Just one level deep: if I create a subfolder under a subfolder of plug_ins, the .api file will not be found by Acrobat.
Then I need to restart Acrobat and I find the plugin running. In particular, BasicPlugin add a new Acrobat SDK menu and a menu item under it.
If I close Acrobat and go back to Visual Studio, I can push the Debug button which will open Acrobat for me and stop the program execution at any breakpoints I have set in the code.

Hi,
Its most likely showing you a blank page again because it is pulling the page from your browser's cache (or an ISP cache) instead of the web server. On Windows I'd try holding down the Control, Alt or Shift key (can never remember which) to bypass the cache when next refreshing that page. Not sure what the equivalent is on Mac (and presumably Safari). Alternatively try a different browser e.g. Chrome or Firefox to see if it has more luck with the download.
As Rob mentioned, the link posted earlier by Renambol seems to be working fine.

suggests to place the AForm32.api file in the Acrobat's plug-ins folder:

AForm32 is now AcroForm – it's the same thing.
However, I don't believe that we expose the COM APIs in the Standard edition – only in the Professional edition.
