An app I'm trying to purchase tells me iOS 6 is needed. I find a lot of information to describe the fabulous enhancements iOS 6 provides - but nowhere to actually download it. Can anyone please provide some guidance? Thanks

You cannot install iOS 6 on a 2nd Generation iPad. iOS 5.1.1 is the last supported version.

Software Update is saying that you have the latest version for 10.5, which is 10.5.8. Version 10.6 is a paid upgrade. Buy here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard (by the way, Mac OS X is the operating system for Macs, not iOS. iOS powers the iPod touch, as well as the iPhone and iPad).
It will ship version 10.6.3. Run software update after you install that in order to get 10.6.8.

I upgraded iPhone to iOS 8.3 but find that Xcode 6.2 doesn't support iOS 8.3. I cannot download Xcode 6.3 due to company's policy (it is stupid). Now I have to download iOS 8.3 to iOS 8.2 on my iPhone.

I m so upset where is Siri and passbook do i get it ? I just downloaded IOs 6 I should get it right I need it.

Siri is only available on the new iPad and Passbook is only available on the iPhone and the iPod Touch.
It would be quite cumbersome lugging the iPad around in order to use Passbook and I assume that is why it is not available on the iPad. It just doesn't make sense on a tablet.

I tried just about everything and finally brought my Ipod touch to the apple store. The tech installed ios 4.3.5 but still no WIFI. He recommended a $149 exchange - not really a bad deal with a new battery and 90 day warranty, but I thought I'd try again.
The "solution" was bizarre. On YouTube was a fix involving taking the motherboard out and heating the wifi components with a heat gun.
I did not like that idea, but another involved turning it off, putting it in the freezer for five minutes and restarting. It worked! I must admit the fix does not work reliably, so I may still go for the exchange. Still, I am now convinced that it is a hardware problem. i remember back in the old days, TV repairmen sprayed a suspected bad resistor with Freon. The chilled component would work long enough to identify what needed replacement. Perhaps something similar is happening here.
For anyone wanting to try this, I found it more convenient to place the back of my ipod on a frozen cold pack until the wifi is restored. It seems to happen when condensation forms on the face. I used a towel to wipe off the moisture so as not to add to the problem.
