Really sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm pulling out my hair!!!
Thx in advance

Maybe you have hid the icon.
In settings you can restore the default icons.
From the manual Page 149
Resetting iPhone
Reset all settings:   Choose General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information, such as your contacts and calendars, and media, such as your songs and videos, aren’t deleted.
Erase all content and settings: Connect iPhone to your computer or a power adapter. Choose General > Reset and tap “Erase All Content and Settings.”
This resets all settings to their defaults and erases all your information and media:
• On iPhone 3GS: by removing the encryption key to the data (which is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption)
• On iPhone and iPhone 3G: by overwriting the data
Important:  You can’t use iPhone while data is being overwritten. This can take up to two hours or more, depending on the model and storage capacity of your iPhone.
(On iPhone 3GS, the removal of the encryption key is immediate.)
Reset network settings: Choose General > Reset and tap Reset Network Settings.
When you reset network settings, your list of previously used networks and VPN settings not installed by a configuration profile are removed. Wi-Fi is turned off and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and “Ask to Join Networks” settings are left turned on.
To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, choose Settings > General > Profile, then select the profile and tap Remove.
Reset the keyboard dictionary: Choose General > Reset and tap Reset Keyboard Dictionary.
You add words to the keyboard dictionary by rejecting words iPhone suggests as you type. Tap a word to reject the correction and add the word to the keyboard dictionary. Resetting the keyboard dictionary erases all words you’ve added.
Reset the Home screen layout: Choose General > Reset and tap Reset Home Screen Layout.
Reset the location warnings: Choose General > Reset and tap Reset Location Warnings.
Or you can search the phone for Safari and see if it shows up.
From the manual Page 37
Searching
You can search many applications on iPhone, including Mail, Calendar, iPod, Notes, and Contacts. You can search an individual application, or search all the applications at once using Spotlight.
Go to Spotlight:   From the main page of the Home screen, flick left to right.
If you’re on the main Home screen page, you can press the Home button to go to Spotlight. From the Spotlight page, press the Home button to return to the main Home screen page. You can also set iPhone to go to Spotlight when you double-click the Home button. See “Home” on page 147.
Search iPhone: On the Spotlight page, enter text in the Search field. Search results appear automatically as you type. Tap Search to dismiss the keyboard and see more of the results.
Icons to the left of the search results let you know which application the results are from. Tap an item in the results list to open it.
Application
What’s searched
Contacts
First, last, and company names
Mail
To, From, and Subject fields of all accounts (the text of messages isn’t searched)
Calendar
Event titles, invitees, and locations (notes aren’t searched)
iPod
Music (names of songs, artists, and albums) and the titles of podcasts, video, and audiobooks
Notes
Text of notes
Spotlight also searches the names of the native and installed applications on iPhone, so if you have a lot of applications you may want to use Spotlight as a way to locate and open applications.
Open applications from Spotlight: Enter the application name, then tap to open the application directly from the search results.
Use the Search Results settings to choose which applications are searched and the order in which they’re searched. See “Home” on page 147.
I do not think you can delete the programs that come from the factory.

  • Where to download Safari for Mac

I had to delete Safari as it refused to work after I dropped my computer. Now I can't find it on the website. Only the version for Windows.
    I can't believe it's not there.
Does anyone where can I download it?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Just a positive message: Like a lot of people I suffered from Safari crashes (No input managers, No SIMBL, or add-on modules.)
The only simple way I found to revert to a previous version (of Safari) is to download safari from rapidshare, unzip en replace Safari in /Applications. (I zipped the current version before to be safe.)
Installing from Apple's download, extracting with Pacifist, etc. is too complicated. Just download from rapidshare, extract, backup your current copy of Safari and replace it with the downloaded version.
Like someone wrote, it might not be the most legal way to acquire Safari, but I consider this a major mess created by Apple, and downloading an older version to patch it and continue working is an acceptable workaround.
This is the easiest way to get back to a working Safari on PPC 10.4.11.

I keep getting network connections error when downloading update for iPhone 4. Any suggestions?

I think I solved the problem by initiating the update in a different way, from the itunes panel where I can click to start the update, instead of saying yes when asked if I want to update when itunes launches in response to the iphone being plugged into the computer.

There no longer are standalone upgraders for Safari.
    I beg to differ, amigo...
...but you're correct in saying that they're not generally available. You have to know where to find them. Evidently, you don't...and obviously I didn't either, or I wouldn't have asked. But I think I know how to find out where they are now.
Thanks again for your prompt replies.

  • Monitor Safari for iPhone browsing from iMac?

Don't know much about iCloud or if this is even an option. Wondering if there is a way to monitor web browsing (i.e. what sites are visited) on Safari for iPhone on my iMac using a combination of Parental Controls and iCloud somehow.  Is iCloud solely for syncing other types of content? Is there an option to disable the 'Clear History' function on Safari for iPhone? Never seen it....worth asking.
I know how to disable Safar for iPhone in the restrictions.  Trying to avoid that if at all possible.  Just want accountable usage of Safari for iPhone without having to disable it and download some other browsing app that will not match Safari's superb mobile browsing experience.

  • How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion?

How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion? It's not in the App Store, it is nowhere on the Apple website . . . OK, so I guess it is supposed to be part of Mountain Lion, but I am running Mountain Lion and whatever version of Safari I ended up with would not even run at all . . .  so I trashed it (or at least what part of it I was allowed to trash) and though reinstalling it would be a good idea . . . but I can't find one to reinstall. The latest version I can find is for Leopard, and of course that won't run.
Not to mention that since getting Mt Lion, iPhoto won't run . . . it produces an error message saying I need to check with the developer to make sure it runs with this version of OS X! So I wonder who the developer of iPhoto is, who produces software that is incompatible with Mt Lion???
And even in submitting this there is no option to tag it for any OS later than 10.7.4!!

Since Safari is crashing, post a crash report...   reinstalling the OS X rarely helps a browser crash issue.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Please include the "binary images" section...

  • Why don't .png files display in Safari for iPhone, iPad?

Why don't .png files display in Safari for iPhone, iPad?

    James,
Thanks for your response.  The image was on a site I maintain.  I have already replaced the image with a jpg, which works fine.  I believe I can duplicate the problem, if you think it is worth it.  Gimme a few...
http://www.oaksbible.org/Contents/about2.html is the page with the png I restored to use.
http://www.oaksbible.org/Contents/about.html is the page with the replacement jpg
Just checked.  The png still does not display on iPhone(5) or iPad(3).  The image was also made by me in pixelmator and both (png and jpg) were exprted from pixelmator.
    thanks again,
    Tim

  • How to download Safari for 10.4.8

I am wondering how it is possible to download Safari for my iBook (10.4.8) as I trashed it a while a go by accident and now want it back! Is it on any of the CDs that cme with my iBook originally?
Also are there any other decent internet applications, other than: Safari, Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi freddiebroders!
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
First of all yes Safari is on your restore cd's. It's part of the operating system.
Second your options are pretty much what you mentioned but I would not include IE in that group because it's outdated and unsupported. You could possibly add Netscape in there instead as some people use that. (It's worth noting there are a few people who do choose to keep IE because it's accesses a site or two that other browsers can't.)
Now with those browsers mentioned there are other browsers that are built from the same "engine" but offer other user features. Here's a few more if you want to keep on testing...
Shiira, OmniWeb - same engine as Safari
Camino, BonEcho - same engine as Firefox
There are a few more for sure...I haven't tested them all. A good general rule is keep your Safari and keep a Gecko browser on hand too (Firefox, Camino, or others with same engine) as that will get you the best compatibility. If there is a site out there that is designed 100% for IE on windows there's not much you can do. Even the old IE on Mac is not likely to work. But most everything on Mac works with Safari or Firefox. I personally use Camino which is basically Firefox for Mac.
    Hope that helps?
