  • Can't uninstall XCelsius 2008 SP1, in order to install SP3.

    Hello,
I'm attempting to uninstall XCelsius 2008 SP1 (FP3), in order to install SP3, as per the instructions.  However I am running into the same error message that is found in this thread: [SP3 Wont install because I can't get current version off|SP3 Wont install because I can't get current version off].
I am receiving the same error code u201Ccanu2019t find Xcelsius.msiu201D and then u201CError 1706.u201D
I attempted to follow the instructions to edit the registry, but could not find the string "MediaPackage" anywhere, so I don't know what my next step should be.  Can anyone help me out with this?  Thanks!!

I had a similar problem and had no luck resolving it until I tried the MS installer fix utility.

  • Where do the Crystal 2008 SP1 runtime files reside on a machine?

Crystal XI runtime files could be located in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\bin folder
Where are the Crystal 2008 SP1 runtime files located?
    Thank you

    They are in: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86
Each version will be a new location so that Side by side installs do not over write other major version dll's.

  • Xcelsius 2008 SP1 - Ignore Blank cells not working

I have a ticker object that is showing the values from a QaaWs query just fine, but at the end of the list I keep getting the words NULL - NULL - NULL - .... This solution is working in the OEM release of Xcelsius 2008.
The range is set longer than the expected number of rows returned to handle changes in the table its querying.
I have Values selected and the Ignore Blank Cells In Values box is checked, so what am I missing?
Is it time to log an issue within support?
    Tom Nather

    Hello Tom,
This problem is known and documented.  It will be addressed in the next FixPack for Xcelsius 2008.
The problem is caused by binding the QaaWS/WS Output Values field to more rows than are actually returned.  The cells that are not filled with actual data are formatted with an "undefined" value, thus they are not ignored by "Ignore End Blanks".  This is expressed differently depending on the component.
For now, one workaround is to output the QaaWS/WS values to a range (A1:A10, for instance), then reference the range (=A1) in another (B1:B10, for example).  If the selector labels are bound to this 2nd range, they will Ignore End Blanks correctly.

It applies to Engage, Engage Server and Enterprise.
Fix Pack 1.1 Release Notes are now available online for download at [http://help.sap.com/content/bobj/overview/index.htm]
After the upgrade in Help > About  your Xcelsius version number should be 5.1.1.0.  Build 12,1,1,344.
You must already have SP1 installed before installing FP1. Customers buying Xcelsius after August would already have SP1. To confirm which version you have click on help -> about. The Build Number should be: 12,1,0,247.
    Take care,

    I have installed  Xcelsius 2008with SP1 and the FP1.
The problem I have is with all the versions.
If I open Xcelsius and click on File -> Manage Add-ons.., I get the following error message:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error
    Program C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Xcelsius\Xcelsius.exe
The application has requested the RunTime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please Contact the application support team for more information.   OK.
Now after I click on OK, the computer completely freezes up and has to be restarted - with a hardware reset. Power Off and Back On.
I have the About screen with  Xcelsius Version 5.0.0.99
    Build Number 12,1,0,247
This occurs on a HP tablet AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72, Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP1.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software 3 times, and still no luck.
The PC is less than a week old, and I am just configuring it and trying to ensure the software is functioning correctly.
During the restart of the PC, after I have requested restart windows normally, I get the message that flashes up sometimes, that states
441/441 / registry (or very similiar - it happens very fast)

  • Using Encrypted Web Service connections within Xcelsius 2008 SP1 - FP3

    Hi all,
I'm running the latest version of Xcelsius Server 2008 and have setup a simplistic dashboard that uses 4 web service connections to dynamically call queries within a SQL Server 2008 database. The dashboard has been exported to html and I can serve this to the WWW.
I have since created a new https website (using a self signed certificate) and can now serve my Xcelsius dashboard via https. My problem is that I have had to run my old website in parallel (as it serves the said non-encrypted web service) which is linked within the swf source (that is running on the new https enabled website).
Upon trying to alter my existing xlf file so that it references the encrypted web service URL (which works fine via the browser) it prompts me to accept the self signed certificate. Once I click yes, and then add the certificate to the certificate store the whole thing locks up and I am forced to close Xcelsius.
Am I right in thinking that Xcelsius will not accept self signed certificates or encrypted web services at all? For me this is big security concern because if I want to share my dashboard via the WWW I have to accept the fact that I need to run an unsecure web service.
Is this something that is only supported in Xcelsius Enterprise?
    TIA

    Hello Paul,
Sorry not to have replied to this sooner.
We have had experience of hosting Xcelsius Dashboards using Https: for one of our clients here at Flynet.
We noticed a number of issues , we did have problems relating to the Firewall on our Gateway server for example. We also had issues with the number of active connections processed when the dashboard is running. I think the default for Https: is 2 , so the connections can be queued up. Have you retried with one connection open. The Dashboard we did however did have up to 12 connections, so Xcelsius can handle multiple connections.
When developing the Dashboards using Xcelsius I did have to import using the Web Service URL of the remote server which was Https: However due to issues sometimes with our Gateway Firewall and the way our Local Network had to access the https: URL , what I tended to do was develop using a localhost Web service and then switch the URL to use the https: Web Service once the dashboard was exported to the server it was to be hosted on.
What we did notice for example is that we could have a dashboard running locally quite happily using the https: web services which are actually on [http://www.flynetviewer.com]   then we would start getting #2 type flash errors. To solve this we had to restart our Windows Firewall on our gateway server. We could run the dashboard fine if run from our web site.
I am not sure if the issues you have are related to this. I have had problems when I had to import the https: web service URL on my local machine  , I am prompted for the Username password for the Https: location , but when trying to import Xcelsius has a problem and exits. Due to these problems I tended to use a local Web service when developing. I know this isn't always practical.
I was running on Vista 64 bit , but I also have XP and Server 2003 running on Virtual machines.
I will be happy to share information my experiences with you.
    Best Regards,
    Ian Learmonth
    Flynet
Updated to add: I have just successfully imported an https: Web service. Mapped it to the dashboard , run it and invoked sucessfully. This was on Windows XP professional SP2.
I did the same thing on Windows Vista 64 bit and had an issue. So not sure what operating system you are using or whether it's a Certificate thing. I can try and find out a bit more on our Certificate if you need to find out what the issue is.
The Vista issue seems to have been resolved by running Xcelsius as Administrator.
When successfully importing I was prompted for the Username and Password for the URL but not the Certificate.

  • Xcelsius 2008 SP1 Fix Pack 2 is out

Just an FYI for all. Just noticed the fix pack has been published.
    [Download|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm]

I'm pleased and excited overall with FP2 so far, but I can't use it due to the following change:
ADAPT01134323 Description: If the Source Data of Icon is dynamic data that inserted by other selectors, changing the source data, destination data doesnu2019t update dynamically. New Behavior: This issue is resolved.
This is a change from past behavior all the way back through v4, and a serious blow to custom solution development. Icon components have come to be the tool for many, many solutions due largely to the fact that they are the rare component that does not insert immediately upon receiving new source data. This is great for paging, or for creating buttons in multiple places on a page that control the same dynvis cells.
And, most notably, there's already a component that behaves exactly as this new version of the icon does--the toggle button. Now we essentially have two toggle buttons, and no icon anymore.
Please either bring back the old functionality on this one, or add more options under "Interaction Options" so users can decide how they want source data changes handled.
Let me know if it would help for me to post an example.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Downgrade from Xcelsius 2008 SP2 to SP1

    Hi,
We are facing some problems with Xcelsius 2008 SP2 .So thought of downgrading it from SP2 to SP1 again.
Please let me know where to do this downgrading alone ....without losing  Xcelsius 2008 SP1
Also please let us know if there are any thing that needs to be kept in mind during this downgrade process...
In our case as it is critical....need some help....
    Thanks

    Hi Shafi,
Have you considered the entire installation of Xcelsius 2008 then/with SP1.
I believe downgrading is not possible.

  • Cannot generate AIR file when exporting from Xcelsius Engage 2008 SP1

    Hi,
Xcelsius seems to go through the motions - "generating swf file" - but no AIR file actuallly lands in the specified folder in my c:\ drive. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SP! but the problem persists. I have the following already installed:
    1) Flex SDK  3.1 and  the file path to the root directory of the SDK is specified in the sdkPath.dat file.
    2) Java version 1.6
    3) Adobe AIR 1.1.
    Many thanks
    Michael

Hi - I'm having the same issue with generating an AIR package from Xcelsius 2008 SP1.  My network environment is protected by a corporate firewall and proxy, so I suspect that there are internet resources that are not accessible.  I tried generating an AIR file while connected to my home network, and it worked OK (although, I couldn't access the data feeds on my corporate network).
Is there a list of internet resources that Xcelsius needs to access to produce the AIR files?
    Thanks

Xcelsius 2008 SP3 Release Notes UPDATED Feb 2010
Just in time for the holidays!
Xcelsius 2008 SP3 is now available from Service Marketplace and the support download site: SAP Crystal Solutions Downloads
We hope you enjoy the great new features we have added. For details check out our Whatu2019s New document and these blogs:

Make sure you download the self extracting file and run it from your hard drive.
Please be patient when you run the self extracting file as it silently extracts all of the necessary files and then automatically runs the Xcelsius 2008 SP3 installer which can take a few minutes. The install files are extracted to the C:Temp folder along with the other CD files including: documentation, connectivity and portal integration kits.
SP3 is cumulative patch so incorporates all the patches to-date and delivers new fixes and features, therefore Xcelsius 2008 SP1 and SP2 are no longer available. Customers looking for fixes shipped with SP1 or SP2 should download and install SP3.
Note: The Enterprise patch is for all versions of Xcelsius 2008 except Xcelsius 2008 Present which has its own patch
The documentation is available from the SAP help portal. You can search for the Xcelsius guides here: http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/ and they include:

  • Xcelsius 2008 FP2 won't export to swf

    Hello,
I can not get Xcelsius to preview or export to swf.  The progress bar labelled "Generating swft" displays for approximately 3-5 minutes until Xcelsius.exe finally crashes and the app closes.  I'm running Xcelsius 2008 SP1 with FP2, Live Office XI R2 and Flash 10 (lastest version).  I've also looked at the Flash security as described in other forum posts and that does not appear to be the issue.
The .xlf I'm working with was successfully completed and published to Crystalreports.com and is working fine.  The problems began when two additional Live Office connections were added to allow for some additional data points in the next release of the dashboard.  The data model now contains a few hundred more rows and a few hundred forumlas causing the Excel file to increase to just under 1MB.  The total number of rows of data return in all Live Office connections combine are just over 1,000 rows.  The max # rows setting in Xcelsius is set to 2,000.  The formula cells added to the data model are fairly simple formulas that were successfully used in the data model previously (ISERROR, INDEX, MATCH).
On occasion, Xcelsius will give the message box "Your range has been reduced to the maximum rows allowed" before crashing.
Acting on this message I have removed the new Live Office connections, but the message/crashing continues.  I have now scaled back the # of Live Office connections and # of formula cells way back to a very small number.  the data model is now very small and quickly imports into Xcelsius yet the same message/crashing continues.  I have verified that the data model currently in Xcelsius is the most recent, very small version of the data model, but Xcelsius still behaves like the large 1MB data model is present.
I don't know if this is even a # rows/data model size issue or a config/bug issue.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
I've read the PDF on FP3, but don't see this scenario listed.  Might FP3 help?  I need to be FP3 is compatible with publishing swf files to Crystalreports.com which is a BOE XI R2 platform.

thanks for the quick advice.  so we can scale back the data to within 512 rows by splitting this into 2 dashboards.  Not ideal, but shouldl be acceptable.
The data is already pre-aggregated.  The data sources for this data model are crystal reports that are published in Crystalreports.com and refreshed nightly against a 3rd party API.  Virtually all of the formulas required in Excel are used to line up rows of data that are being pulled in from 2 seperate live office queries.  All of the required data points could not be included in a single crystal report so 2 are needed and the rows matched up in Excel using an INDEX(MATCH) formula.  We are not using any unsupported functions or VLOOKUP per the advice of an Xcelsius best practice document I located in this forum.  I'm open to any suggestions on better techniques to align related rows of data from two seperate ranges in Excel so they essentially appear as though they came from a single data source.
I am starting to lean toward the # of formulas in the data model as being the issue and have added fitlers to the live office query to cut the # of rows to only 20% of what was originally being retrieved.  The # of formulas were also reduced by the same percentage.  However, when trying to preview or export to swf, Xcelsius still gives the same message that the range was reduced to the max allowed and then crashes.  It's as if Xcelsius is still seeing the old data model.  Perhaps something is being cached that isn't clearing out?  Even a full remove and re-install of Xcelsius SP1, Live Office and FP2 has had no affect.  Maybe we need to build a new .xlf from scratch?
    thanks

  • Xcelsius 2008 doesn't preview...

OK, I'm going crazy.  I've just installed Xcelsius 2008 SP1 on a Vista OS notebook.  It won't preview, either on a new blank file or a sample (nor will it export to any file type....I get the generating Swf notice for abt 5 secs and then it goes away.....nothing else).  I've checked that UAC is off, run as Administrator, checked the player security settings, and re-installed multiple times.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Craig,
Have you removed the previous installation before installing it?
