Where to find a replacement keyboard key?

I've accidentally burned the "O" key on my W510 with a cigarette (luckily just the plastic cover, the scissors are ok). Does any official or non-offical website sell those and has worldwide shipping?

Hi borisb,
There is no official solution since the key is not considered Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU), on the other hand entire keyboard is.
There is an unofficial solution from laptopkey though:- http://www.laptopkey.com/
Hope this helps.

  • Why can't I get a replacement keyboard key from Apple?

    Rant version
I was delivered a new 15 inch Macbook Pro with Retina screen with a broken 'V' key (literally, just the black plastic panel has a small broken clasp). I was unable to get a genius bar appointment anywhere within London Zone 1-2, Regent St, Stratford and Covent Garden all just tell me there are no appointments available. I called the Apple store in Stratford City to see if they could order a new 'V' key to the store so I could pick it up and click it on. They suggested I call Apple customer services as they wouldn't be able to help me unless I booked a Genius bar appointment, and obviously they had none. I was informed that I would have to send the entire machine away for at least 5 working days and then wait for a replacement to be shipped out. This is a total P.I.T.A as I have already started important projects on this machine.
I managed to book a Genuis Bar appointment in Bromley (30 minutes drive from my house) and called to see if it would be possible for them to order the part in and fit it on the day, during my appointment. They said I would have to come in, just to show them the machine, and then they could order the part using my serial number. I asked why I couldn't just give them my serial number and come in when the part was delivered. They said that the telephone operator at the store could not make any sort of contact with the genius bar, regardless of the fact they are in the same building.
I'd like to point out that everyone I have spoken to have been extremely nice, and understood my frustration, they just haven't been able to do anything that goes outside of their very limited protocol.I find it unacceptable that a company as powerful as Apple, are unable to post a keyboard key to a customer.
As a computer enthusiast, this is the easiest and most simple problem I have ever had with a machine. It has also been the most common-sense defying process I have ever had the misfortune of being a part of. If it were up to me I would just pay the £3 for a replacement online, but Apple have changed the positions of the clasps from the unibody model by about a few microns, and I don't feel like waiting until someone decides to scrap a new RMBP.
I don't mind if Apple don't want me to do the repair myself, that I may need to go through the enigmatic ritual of the genius bar to get this done (heaven forbid anyone but a Genius click the 'V' key on). I don't even mind if it takes a couple of weeks for the part to get there, I just want a replacement key, stuck on this laptop, without wiping the entire machine or sending it away for a week.
    Short version:
If anyone knows where I can get a replacement 'v' key for the new 15inch Retina Macbook Pro then I'll love you forever.

Yes it is sad but true I think. I EZprint to do my pano's and they turn out excellent. Give them a try.

    Hope this helps.

  • Replacing keyboard keys

Am I able to go to an Apple store and have a few keyboard keys replaced? A few of them have become sticky due to a minor liquid spill, (after clean-up) but are still fully functioning.

Not likely. Stores don't usually stock keycaps, and I don't believe Apple supplies them individually. Your best bet is to find someone who has a dead keyboard to get them from.
But stepping back to the actual problem: it's very unlikely that any liquid has remained on your own keycaps if you've given them a good wash, so it's equally unlikely that replacing them will remedy whatever is causing them to stick. The problem is almost certainly below them.

  • Where is Find and Replace?!?

I have been using DW 8 on my computer (Apple OS 10.4.11)
successfully for about a year. Just this week the Find and Replace
function stopped working. I can press Apple + F and I get nothing,
no popup windows or anything. I can go to Edit>Find and Replace
and I get nothing. If I go to Edit> Find Selection I get the
popup window, but it doesn't have anything in it and I don't see a
way to get the Find and Replace screen to popup from there. I have
restarted my computer and DW several times. Anyone know how to fix
    this?

    Try this:
    1. in SiteManager, EXPORT the current site's definition.
    2. REMOVE the site.
    3. IMPORT the definition you just exported.
    Better now?

  • Replace keyboard keys

So im looking to replace the keys on my macbook pro with the keys from a wireless mac keyboard and i don't know if they will be compatible. I plan to take all the keys off of each and simply swap them. Does anyone know if it is possible to do this in terms of compatiblity? (do the keys have the same mechanisms and configuration on each?) I have a macbook pro 15"  8,2.  (late 2011) and i want to use the keys from the most recent wireless keyboard.
    Please let me know,
    Thanks!

If it's possible the instructions would be on the Do-It-Yourself Laptop Repair website and also on YouTube's 'How To' video tutorials website.
Otherwise, call up an Apple Store, an AASP and ask the repair techs and do a Google & Bing search.

  • Replacement Keyboard keys

I have three broken keys on my Powerbook keyboard. the F9 F10, and the number "0" KEY. I think it is the plastic mechanism under the key. Does anyone know where to purchase these parts. I am under warranty, but something was dropped on the keyboard to mess up three keys.

You'll probably find more info in the Powerbook forums this is the G4 PowerMac forum (Ask about keys here and people just tell you to get a new USB Keyboard lol)
    Good luck with it

    Hi
Any notebook part can be ordered from an authorized service partner who is available in your country.
The guys will order the part directly from Toshiba if it will not be on stock.
But as xaver already said; the 2nd hand part could also be found in internet. I guess some online dealers should be able to provide such keyboard. Dont search for the part number because such numbers are not very helpful if it comes to search for the compatible notebook part.

  • Replacing keyboard advice

    Hi,
I have a mid-2009 Macbook Pro and a while ago, I think my laptop may have got water damaged as my right-hand shift key and the enter key above it stopped working completely. I reset the PRAM, SMC, everything but ultimately, it was beyond fixable and I just gave up. Now I've got some money so I'd like to get it fixed, however Apple themselves are charging waaaaaay too much as my warranty has gone and they want to milk it and replace everything from the keyboard to the outer shell. So my question is, what's the most cost effective way to sort out the keys? If it's water damaged, does that mean I have to replace the entire keyboard or can I just focus on the two keys? I can give my laptop to someone I know who deals with this stuff to fix but I'd like to have some idea of what needs to be done and how much it costs so I don't get bumped. Maybe I could buy the equipment they need? If so, does anyone know where to get a new keyboard/keys?
    Thanks a lot,
    Suraj

    Check the iFixit website.
If you have homeowners or rental coverage check w/them.  Most policies cover accidental damage.
If you purchased your computer w/a credit card, check w/them also.  You just may be covered.
