Where to find free SMTP Server?

Im doing my thesis now and i have a feature (notification thru email). i dont know any free smtp server. i nid a free smtp server so i can show the email alert to the professors if i have my defense.
anyone who can help?

XP Pro comes with an SMTP server. It may not be installed by default though. You need to add IIS (Internet Information Services) by going into "Add/Remove Windows Components" under "Add/Remove Programs" in the control panel.
To see if you have IIS, or after you have installed it, go to Start->Programs->Administrative Tools->Internet Information Services to start/configure the SMTP service.
Or.. you could use Apache JAMES (Java Mail Server). For simplicity though I would recommend just using the MS SMTP server.

  • Mail not being able to find the SMTP server

    hi there,
    I am trying to use a new mailbox account but Mail cannot find the SMTP server and refuses to send emails. It is a pop account and it can find the incoming server ok. I know that the server is ok because I can send emails from a webmail version of the account but in Mail..nada.
    Does anyone know why Mail is not finding the server?
    Many thanks
    Shark

    What version of OSX were you using before upgrading to Snow Leopard? Since introduction of Leopard and Mail 3.x, the Outbox has only been seen in the Sidebar when there is one or more messages not yet sent.
    Sending with webmail is no test of the SMTP, since it is not used when sending via webmail. What Port are you presenting the SMTP on, and what does the provider recommend in that regard? Who is that provider?

  • Finding proper smtp server for outgoing mail

    I added my school's e-mail account and i can receive mail just fine. I'm having trouble finding the right server name to send mail from that school address.
    Is there any general rule for what a server should be called, or is it specific and i need to find out from the school?

    There are not har and fast rules about naming of SMTP servers. Naming convention usually results in 'mail.yourdomain.com' or 'smtp.yourdomain.com' but the naming is just a preference of whoever set up the server. You generally need to ask your mail server administrator for the name and/or access information. There are some definite caveats that are likely going to affect you however --
    - Most mail admins do not allow SMTP access to their servers from off their network unless they've configured/enabled SMTP Authentication or some other way of verifying that you're really who you claim to be. Again, your mail system admin can let you know if they support this and how to configure Mail.
    - It is almost always acceptable to use the SMTP server of your ISP (comcast, bellsouth, etc) regardless of the POP/IMAP account you are checking. You do not need to use your @comcast or @bellsouth email address to send through those servers.
    - When in doubt about server settings, mail server admins would generally be happy with you contacting your local helpdesk or admins to be sure you're using the correct settings.

  • Email Enabled lists - where to run the SMTP server? On APP server or on Exchange Server? Or somewhere else?

    Hi there,
    I need to setup EMail Enabled lists in SharePoint 2010 site. Where do I need to run the SMTP server? On APP server or on Exchange Server? Or somewhere else?
    Thank you so much.

    The SMTP service cannot run on the Exchange server. You can run it on a SharePoint server, or a stand alone server and share out the drop directory over SMB.

  • Free SMTP server for Java mail testing

    Hi all,
    Are there any free SMTP servers that can be downloaded from the Net for Java mail. Thanks.
    Regards
    Ram

    I am sorry ..may be my question was not very clear. I do not have am SMTP host. I need an SMTP host to route emails...is that possible.
    If I have an SMTP host on my machine, then it will act as a router to route messages to other email severs like yahoo or hotmail.
    So the "from" will be a user from the SMTP host.i.e my machine user and the "to" will be some email "[email protected]" or "[email protected]".
    Is it posssible to route emails directly to any Yahoo or hotmail server using just java mail client?
    Thanks
    Regards

  • How to find the smtp server on a linux box?

    Hello,
    I am trying to set up Notification Methods in OEM and I need to know the SMTP server and port. Which command can I use on Linux to find this information? Thank you in advance.

    Netstat is not necessarily the right tool for this task.
    Sorry, but "netstat -a | grep 25" will not be useful. For example:
    netstat -a | grep 25
    unix  2      [ ]         DGRAM                    128925
    unix  3      [ ]         STREAM     CONNECTED     11825 Better grep for "smtp". For example:
    netstat -a | grep smtp
    tcp        0      0 vm015.example.com:smtp      *:*                         LISTEN
    lsof is a better tool, but requires "root" or superuser privileges. For instance:
    lsof -i :smtp
    COMMAND   PID USER   FD   TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME
    sendmail 3098 root    4u  IPv4  13077       TCP vm015.example.com:smtp (LISTEN)Keep in mind however that processing and routing email in is usually a more complex task and involves either to know firewall and mail gateway configurations, or ask your mail administrator. The local mail server may not be permitted to relay email to the company wide smtp gateway depending on routing policies.

  • Where to find OpenSSO (Enterprise) Server

    Hi all,
    does anybody know where I can download OpenSSO Enterprise Server?
    I tried to download the version 8.0 from Oracle's website, but kept getting the message : this version is no longer available for download
    Oracle's download pages do not have it anywhere
    Where can I find it?
    Thanks

    Thank you Alex, and Handatatsun.
    To be honest, I am not even sure I am going about this correctly. I have been trying to setup and install an entire OpenSSO Server.
    But, it may be that I do not need it.
    I have an external application, on which users are required to log-in with username and password. Once they are logged in, they should be able to navigate to IDM end-user pages, WITHOUT the need to sign-in separately into IDM.
    To facilitate this, I have created user-accounts (usernames) for these users on IDM. In addition, I setup a proxy server in front of IDM. This proxy server contains Shibboleth, which should handle the authentication.
    Therefore, all I really need on IDM is a MODULE or ADAPTER, which will allow for the single sign-on.
    The only such adapter I was able to find was meant for Sun Access Manager.
    The documentation on "Configuring IDM for OpenSSO" states the need for a module named : Sun OpenSSO Realm.
    Any idea where I can find such a module (or adapter) ?
    Thank you.

  • How do I find the SMTP server number in my MB Pro mail program?

    For some unknown reason my mail program is just now asking for a password when I attempt to send an email. I verified the password with my ISP. When I go to the Mail program/Preferences/Accounts I see a screen that has three sections. The third section offers "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" but offers no box allowing a server number such as 587... Why is that option missing? What is likely causing this sudden request for a password?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    I did that and and chose "Use custom port" and entered 587. Still is asking for a PW but when entered it tells me that the server will not accept the password thus will not sent the email. I can send and receive using my PC.
    I also can receive emails on the Mac.. So, something else is "set" incorrectly.. ????

  • Where to find the updated server for 10.3?

    I searched yesterday the Apple's download site with the updated server version for 10.3, but could not find it.
    Anyone have the link to this?

    The server version I am referring to in like the VNC server part.
    When you go to System preferences and enable screen sharing it is a "server like" process running in the background.
    The updated version for 10.3 enable VNC's client to connect to 10.3 host, and from what I can see, it does the same for 10.5 screen sharing capability. That is what I lost when I reinstalled my 10.3 machine: file sharing is working fine, but no screen share available...

  • Where to find free public WCF services.

    There are many sites which provides free public webservices like webservices.net , do we have any for free public WCF services? Sorry, I do not want webservices url as an answer.

    Hi,
    Since WCF in most cases deal with standard SOAP based webservices, you can find some existing public service for testing:
    Bing Maps SOAP Services

  • Where do you put the  SMTP Server Name  ?

    I am trying to set up the email address of the SNMP.
    i can set up the Server SNMP Agents and the trap destinations, but can't find where to specifiy the SMTP Server Name i.e our company email address name [email protected]
    I looked in security realms can't find it.
    Any ideas

    Hi,
    Here is sample setup for AIX machine.
    SETUP:
    GC agent installed in AGENT_ORACLE_HOME
    RDBMS installed in RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME
    Database and listener up and running, monitored by Grid Control,
    this implies that the AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml contains the correct credentials for the database.
    The listener name given ion RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora is identical to the name of that listener target in Grid Control.
    AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora must exist.
    SETUP steps needed for operating system AIX:
    A. AIX is using its native snmp deamon pointing to the snmpdv3 deamon (this is the default on AIX5L):
    [hostname]/root> ls -l /usr/sbin/snmpd
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 9 Jul 24 2009 /usr/sbin/snmpd@ -> snmpdv3ne*
    B. The script AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/network/snmp/peer/start_peer has needs to be corrected on AIX :
    1. the locations of "whoami" needs to be corrected from "/usr/ucb/whoami" to "/bin/whoami"
    2. the command starting the os snmp deamon must be changed to
    $SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &
    Alternatively add two blocks for operating system AIX:
    elif [ "$uname" = "AIX" ] ; then
    USERID=`/bin/whoami`
    SNMPD=/usr/sbin/snmpd
    SNMPD_CONFIG=/etc/snmpdv3.conf
    SNMPD_OPTIONS=""
    BP="AIX"
    TRPCMD="exit 1"
    ENCAP_OPT="-s 1160"
    elif [ "$uname" = "AIX" ]
    then
    echo "Starting $SNMPD ..."
    echo "$SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &"
    $SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &
    Starting up emsubagent
    None of the following processes must be upp and running: snmpd, emsubagent, master_peer, encaps_peer
    The following ports must not be allocated: snmp, smux, 161, 1161, 199
    run as root:
    ORACLE_HOME= <full path to the AGENT_ORACLE_HOME>
    export ORACLE_HOME
    $ORACLE_HOME/network/snmp/peer/start_peer -a
    This must start the following processes as root: master_peer, encaps_peer, snmpd
    As agent ORACLE_HOME owner run
    AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl start subagent
    The snmp_*.ora files needs to be copied from AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin to RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    Restart the listener, query the listener status
    "RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl status <listener_name>" must show: SNMP ON

  • Smtp server for roadrunner

    I can receive, but not send email on my roadrunner account. I am told by Time Warner/Comcast that I must use the smtp server of my isp, meaning AT&T wireless. Anyone know what that would be?

    I found the answer to my own problem.
    I just discovered the following:
    AT&T “cwmx.com” and “smtp.mymmode.com” outgoing SMTP servers only work through the AT&T wireless network and not over WI-FI.
    Who knew?  Not me!  Maybe I'll look elsewhere to see how I can send e-mail messages from my Roadrunner e-mail account from my 3Gs iPhone using Wi-Fi.
    I just found a post another site where someone had the same problem.  They described it this way:
    My broadband cable company (Insight in Columbus OH) will not allow me to send email (smtp) outside their network. I currently have my iPhone set to use Yahoo for sending but I don't like the advertisement Yahoo puts at the bottom. Does AT&T offer a smtp server to send mail from the iPhone?
    EDIT: PS I'm looking for a FREE smtp server........I already pay plenty for broadband service and cell phone service!
