Where to find old emails?

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I have a Storm, and I can not find any old emails on my phone. I'm trying to find an email from Febuary, but it only goes back a couple of weeks. Is there a place online that I can go to to read this email, or is just lost forever?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Well, that will depend. If the email account is an internet-facing service such as GMail, Yahoo, etc., then it might be on their servers still (depending on if you deleted it and replicated the deletion to the server). If, however, the email is one of the @BB or @carrier accounts, then those typically are only visible on the BB itself and no other email clients can access them. Basically, you need to see who the email service provider is and see if they still have that email.
Then, check this setting.
Good luck!

  • Finding old emails in the Finder

    Hi, there,
My iMac is used for my business, so I keep (one can call it archive) many important emails in their specific folders, some emails are 4-5 years old.
I'm wondering what is the system, or logic, based on how the operating system is keeping emails in the Finder... Of course, one can retrieve old emails (that were not trashed) thru Apple’s Mail itself, but the reason for asking is, I backup some of those mailboxes, the important stuff, as part of my routine nightly backup, and in case of emergency, I may need to sort them out manually thru the Finder (am I right?)...
    My questions:
    1.  For some odd reason I have TWO places where my Mac stores those emails: in my (User>Mail>V2> Mailboxes>specific mailbox) folder, and also in my (User>Library>Mail>V2> Mailboxes>specific mailbox) folder...   Is that normal?  The V2 folder in my User folder is 14 GB, while the V2 in the User>Library is 19 GB. I’m not even sure now WHICH of those 2 folders my backup software is archiving...
    2.  Every mailbox has a folder with a long name starting with CECD2235-.... and inside there are bunch of folder named with single digits, and inside each a “Messages” folder with the emails.  But there’s no logic how the system is sorting those folders, the emails are all over the place.... I sure can’t find an email based on the date it was received...
    3.  One of the annoying things in the Finder is, once I open a folder the “modification date” immediately changes to THE MINUTE IT WAS OPENED, so in the future I can’t rely on sorting those folders by dates...
Some education here would be appreciated...

    Thanks, Eric...
    1.  So should I just DELETE that MAIL folder I have in my user folder?
    2.  Of course, I can sort any folder items in the Finder by name, date modified, size, etc., BUT as we all know so well, the OS has not been very good in sorting the CONTENT of a folder, especially with several nested folders down, depicting the TRUE date of modification of the LATEST file inside.... So here, the latest example, I'm opening now a folder whose modification date shows Jan. 27, 2015, but inside there are files (nested in a sub-folder) with mod. date of Jan. 29...
    3.  Normal, but ANNOYING... I guess no way to tell my Mac to stop this behavior, right?  It makes little sense...

  • How to find old emails received 3+ years ago?

A few months back I was able search through old emails in my inbox and find emails from as far back as November 2011. Now when i search I can only go back as far as July 2012. These emails were not deleted, I am sure of that. So is there any way of finding these emails from Nov 2011 and if possible even further back? The farther back I can go the better.

If I need to find a deadlock last afternoon, how do I run sql query on System_health session to get it?
    I need specific sql script.
I have already posted the query in this thread, but for you convenience here it is again:
    SELECT
    xed.value('@timestamp', 'datetime2(3)') as CreationDate,
    xed.query('.') AS XEvent
    FROM
SELECT CAST([target_data] AS XML) AS TargetData
    FROM sys.dm_xe_session_targets AS st
    INNER JOIN sys.dm_xe_sessions AS s
    ON s.address = st.event_session_address
    WHERE s.name = N'system_health'
    AND st.target_name = N'ring_buffer'
    ) AS Data
CROSS APPLY TargetData.nodes('RingBufferTarget/event[@name="xml_deadlock_report"]') AS XEventData (xed)
    ORDER BY CreationDate DESC
Note that since System Health writes to a ring buiffer, data is not available forever.

  • HT4599 where did my old emails go

can't find my old emails. THey disappear after 30 days

Uh-oh- then you need to change your mail peferences...
When you have mail open, at top of page click on the word mail and hold- and a drop down menu appears..lower the cursor to the word preferences and let go.
A new window opens, click on Accounts at the top and click open mailbox behaviors..then look down and see Trash: and click on the options you prefer. You want to choose the last-most one...
Hold on too- you want to look at Sent delet sent messages NEVER
It is late... look at the entire preferences page carefully and completely.
If you set it right, you will not lose emails you deleted, from the server. (I like to keep copies on disk, and then delete at once...works for me.)
    Good luck.I hope that helped.

  • Where can I find old emails in Time  Machine?

Just need to find an older email in time machine. Where can I find it? i.e in which folder etc.
    Thanks heaps.
    Gerard

Bring the Mail browser window forward, then enter Time Machine. Scroll back in the time-travel view to the most recent snapshot containing the messages you want to restore. Select the messages, then click Restore. The messages will be restored to a new mailbox. From there you can move them wherever you like.

  • Where to find old packages?

I recently upgraded my xine to the latest one, xine-ui-0.99 and it eats up all my PC resources, and I wasn't able to play any movies at all. I was wondering where I could find the previous version, 0.98, because I had no problem with it.
i tried ftp.archlinux.org, but i can't find the old packages there anymore.
    please assist, thanks

if it is not cached in your /var/cache/pacman/pkg then you will have to download the old PKGBUILD from the web CVS and build the package yourself. read the wiki on how to build packages.

  • Where to find old Macs?

I like to collect old Macs for future use as antiques. Where are some good places to find them? I know people recycle them all the time, but I don't know how to get to them before they're demolished. I have gotten only 5 of them from recycle bins.

    Ben,
The discussions were down for a while so this did not post about the same time you were posting.
"That'd be great if I found some warehouse somewhere full of free or cheap old Macs."
Is a 40' by 70' shed big enough to qualify? How many old Macs do you want to pay shipping on? Even Alan has not visited yet and he is only an hour away! lol Free 19' monitors still await.
As '83Mac stated, in Washington State we are well on our way to not having surplus computers without travel. Seattle and Tukwilla offer the best hope for saving old Macs. One lady walked into the store with an SE 30 and nice accessories. She was told the price for the recycler to handle the CPU and accessories. Then the guy pointed to us and said, "they would probably like it for free." My son uses the sound system w/ subwoofers with his laptop and ipod.
The problem with the manufacturer's recycling programs is that they will soon be crushing/dismantling the current generation of computing history. Only museums will have a good selection.
It reminds me of a 4x4 magazine warning readers to hurry out and buy 1980s Ford Broncos, Camaros and Jeeps because California companies were crushing them in record numbers. Seem that industrial polluters were being given waivers or credits by taking old gas guzzlers off the highways. The problem would soon be a lack of spare parts. The irony is that our 72 GMC van with a new engine tested cleaner than a five year old car that was not maintained.
Get the good stuff now. It will soon be gone.

  • Where to find old ios backgrounds?

I love the old iOS backgrounds and want to have specifically one of them as the background on my new 5S. Because I have iOS 7 this is not an option. I would think I could find them online, but not luck. The specific one I am looking for is the black rock backgound (Not the slate rock one). It looked kinda like lava rock. Thanks for the help!

  • Deleted mail account - where to find deleted emails

    Hi there
I have done the same stupid mistake others have done and accidentally deleted my mail account. I was trying to delete my gmail account in mail but selected my primary home email account instead.(I blame the computer) Thing is, it seems a 'partial' delete, in that this morning I still receive my incoming emails, ie the account settings are still there. Also all my sent emails, and trash from that account are still there. But as for the incoming emails for the past 5 years - nothing. And in library/mail there is no record of this account folder. Where does the deleted stuff go, if it doesn't go in the trash, and why did my deleted account action not wipe all the emails, incoming and outgoing, and not the account setup details in mail preferences? I am just curious because there is a small part of me that hopes somehow i can retrieve the emails from within the computer without having to pay for a data rescue program. (there would only be about 20 or so emails that we've need to keep for work purposes)

    hi!
I have a question -- if I delete my mailbox in mail (one of them) -- which is my gmail personal account -- will it delete everything off Mail AND my gmail or just Mail Application? So hypothetically, if I delete the gmail account in Mac Mail and when I sign in that same email on gmail.com -- all my mail will still be there ?
I want to just have my work email on Mac Mail and I dont want my personal email on Mac Mail as well.
    Thank you!

  • Accidently deleted the default profile-wher to find old bookmarks to restore?

I accidentally deleted the default profile while try to delete a username for a website, which was memorized by Firefox. On a Mac OSX, where do I find the bookmarks file that was in use before deleting the default profile. I have to restore the bookmarks or at the minimum, gat a list of those with their url so that I can make new.

You are on Mac OS X 10.4, so you do not have the Time Machine that more recent versions have. If you did remove the entire [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and do not have a backup of that folder then all your personal data including the bookmarks is gone.

Do you have an icloud account (did you upgrade from mobile me to icloud before the "closing date" over a year ago?
Or, if you have an icloud account and you just checked the email settings at icloud.com, is your problem that the old me.com address no longer listed?

  • Where to find old backup files and how to use it to restore

    Hi,
Need help. I did a OS update to iOS 6 today.
Before the update I did backup my phone on my PC.
But since that backup there was a new back up that created automatically when I connected my phone back to the PC. Now with some issues I want to rollback to previous backup. But this backup file is not visible in the restore from backup list. Is there anyway I can manually find this file and try to restore from it.
In the backup folder I can see a few files with previous backup time stamp but not sure how I can use these files and which file to use..
    Pls help.. Thanks.
