Where to find older iPod OS updates

I've found it frustrating trying to find the older updates to Mac OS, perhaps it is just my ham-fisted search techniques, but I'm looking to see what updates have been issued for a 1st Gen iPod Touch and all I can find is 2.01 (and iTunes 8.x). I don't wish to upgrade to 8.x at this time. Is there anything incremental after 1.1.4??

If you want you can revert to Safari 4.0.5, instructions here. Downgrade from Safari 5.0 to Safari 4.0.5
If your computer is crashing, it may not be Safari causing the problem. Boot from your install disc, run Disk Utility in case there are errors on the startup disk that need repairing.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 15% free space.*

[SOLVED] Where to find older kernel headers

Hi,
I'm currently stuck on kernel 3.8.11-1 x64 on my netbook as kernel 3.9.2 won't boot - basically hangs while grub tries to start the kernel. Had the same issue with Fedora so I know that it's kernel specific....
Unfortunately my NIC requires that I build the compat-wireless drivers in order to get the alx module in my system. Using the older kernel however, where do I find the headers for it?
Basically I need to populate my /lib/modules with the 3.8.11-1-ARCH bunch; unfortunately my USB boot stick has version 3.8.10 which won't work.
Can anyone help me out?
Also why do the older kernels and related modules etc... get removed so fast from the repo? Shouldn't the older ones be kept for a while at least so if anyone (like me and plenty of others) have issues they can revert back easily without needing to downgrade by finding an older package from somewhere?

P.s. I like Arch it seems a lot as it's kinda hackery since you have to build from scrach and the chroot install is cool too - I think it suites my style of being very CLI heavy
Coupled with a 'real' DEC VTxxx terminal not emulation I think Arch would be the best thing since Ethernet!!

Where to find older drivers?

Where can I find legacy drivers for an older MS-6580 Mainboard (VER 10A). A coworker tried using the newer drivers that ship with the newest version of the board but he said they do not work.
Are there older drivers out there that work? or are the newer drivers backward compliant?

Need help checking 2 see if my plugins are up 2 date- page where I find info says "click update"- I can't find where 2 click

My Firefox keeps crashing when I have windows open that use Shockwave Flash player, and today my CPU is up in the 30-40% range. I went to the page where I should be able to make sure I have the latest version of the plugin (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/) and it says "click update..." but I can't figure out where to click. Help with where to find older activation codes

I am trying to find out where I can locate an activation code on my original purchase of Lightroom that I made a few years ago. I upgraded to Lightroom 4 a couple of months ago and had it installed on my laptop but I just recently bought a new desktop and I am trying to download it but Adobe is asking for the orignal activation code not just the upgrade activation code and I can't seem to locate it anywhere. How do I get this number?

Where to find "My ipod" under "Source" in itunes.

Once I plug in my ipod, the list from itunes adds it under "Source" but once I start working with any other category in my source column , my personal ipod listing disappears and the only way to get it back is to unplug and plug my ipod back in. As long as my ipod continues to stay plugged in, how can I bring it back to my "Source" screen in itunes? Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I have my preference set to manually update my ipod, but the only ipod icon under my source list states, "Administrator's ipod". Once I click on this icon, it disappears - never to return until I close itunes and unplug my ipod, then plug in my ipod to get itunes back. All I really want to do is control the order of the playlists, but they only follow the order in the source list. This is my first ipod, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

My purchases are coming up as recently purchased but can't figure out how to get them transferred to IPOD. I also can't find how to confirm setting is for manual not auto sync as the first computer I had blew up and am now using a different one. I haven't had any of these problems prior to the updates.

As an avid flight simmer I bought a new soundcard my previous was
an audigy 2 platinum ex with an external module I really liked but somehow all of a sudden I was getting a screech when using FS9 sor I opted to change to the present. Well stone the crows my soundcard was auto updated with new drivers and well you guessed it the soundcard did not show in the sound video controllers window No I have just joined this forum and it looks like3 you may have the answer for me . I am now going to do as you suggest and see what happens.
I shall return with the outcome of my dilemma.

If you haven't removed the previous update from your computer, try this.
Remove the latest 1.0.2 update from the iTunes/iPod updates folder.
On a Mac this is found in (name of)user/library/iTunes/iPod software updates.
Then prevent iTunes from checking the internet for a new update (preferences/general and remove the check mark from "check for updates automatically), then use iTunes to restore in the normal way.
You should then be asked if you want to use the previous version of the iPod software.

I updated the software cause I was having a problem playing songs on the iPod. Some of the songs that would play on my computer (iTunes) would not play on the ipod (it would just skip them). Firewire NECESSARY for older iPods to complete OS updates

After hours trying to diagnose a problem where I couldn't get an update to complete, I learned that older iPods that used both Firewire and USB require the Firewire to complete an update. USB is just fine for recharging.
As the Firewire adaptors are no longer sold by Apple, you'll need to go to the Apple Store if, like me, you've lost it.

If you don't use them, then you can uninstall them.

If it's an older iPod, its software is not being updated by Apple. So, I don't see how updating iTunes would make the iPod not work with the car's audio system, since iTunes just updates the song files (not how the iPod operates).

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?
