  • How to find out about the SMTP Server

    Hi,
    I have been trying to configure groupware in the portal - in particular I want to enable the sending of emails through the portal. I already have a how-to-guide that that seems to explain the steps quite well. However, it mentions that I need to know the SMTP Server of the email. Can you tell me how to find out about the SMTP Server? Where do I need to look for the name of it?
    Thank you and regards,
    Katharina

    Hi Katharina,
    you need the SMTP server of your company. This means you can't look for it in the portal, but have to ask the responsible person in your company.
    Kind regards,

    How do I find out my MBP's 'server name?' to run Remote Desktop Connection?

    Hi Dave,
    You need to type the server name that was assigned by your mail administrator for the server running Exchange. So please ask your administrator for the Server name. Thanks for your understanding.

  • Is there a way to bypass having to use an outgoing SMTP server?

    Hi all,
    I'm always mailing from different places with my MacBook, and it's a drag that I have to figure out the outgoing SMTP server the whole time.
    You don't have to fill in outgoing SMTP servers if you're using Thunderbird or Entourage, but I prefer working with mail because of it's Address Book & iCal integration.
    Is there a way NOT to have to fill in a local SMTP server, without transferring to a paid .mac account etc?

    Sounds like you've got it solved, but just for future reference, Google Mail (Gmail) allows you to use their outgoing mail servers for any email anywhere. I've got a Mac email, so I use the MobileMe Mail Server for that.
    But I've also got another email that's non-Mac that I use for a vacation rental property. It uses a domain I bought. Then all I did was create a Gmail email account and then I can use Gmail's outgoing mail server (smtp.gmail.com) for this other email that's neither a Gmail or Mac account. You need to create a Gmail account to make this work cuz it uses authentication (Gmail email and password) to allow access to Gmail's outgoing mail server. But you don't need to use the Gmail email at all.
    Hopefully this isn't too confusing. The bottom line to all this is I can use Gmail's outgoing mail server for any email address I have from anywhere in the world. I never have to change it.

  • TS3276 I cannot get my outgoing SMTP server togo "On-Line" and cannot send out emails.

    I cannot get my outgoing SMTP server togo "On-Line" and cannot send out emails.

    I had this problem too but I fixed it today.
    Go to the mail menu preferences.
    Click on account in question.
    Select the outgoing SMTP mail server (the one offline), this has a drop down list, click on the edit server list.
    Click on the advanced button.
    Make sure use default port is checked.
    Make sure SSL is unchecked (unless your provider requires it, mine does not work with it checked).
    Have authentication set to password.
    User name should be your email address for that account.
    Make sure correct password is entered (for some strange reason my password box was blank on this account).
    Push the ok button.
    For me the SSL box was checked and the password was missing. This is strange to me considering I have unchecked the SSL Box on the mail preference advance page. Also, I went through the complete set up account when I first created the account, why was my outgoing server password box empty?
    I hope this helps.

  • Where do you put the  SMTP Server Name  ?

    I am trying to set up the email address of the SNMP.
    i can set up the Server SNMP Agents and the trap destinations, but can't find where to specifiy the SMTP Server Name i.e our company email address name [email protected]
    I looked in security realms can't find it.
    Any ideas

    Hi,
    Here is sample setup for AIX machine.
    SETUP:
    GC agent installed in AGENT_ORACLE_HOME
    RDBMS installed in RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME
    Database and listener up and running, monitored by Grid Control,
    this implies that the AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml contains the correct credentials for the database.
    The listener name given ion RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora is identical to the name of that listener target in Grid Control.
    AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora must exist.
    SETUP steps needed for operating system AIX:
    A. AIX is using its native snmp deamon pointing to the snmpdv3 deamon (this is the default on AIX5L):
    [hostname]/root> ls -l /usr/sbin/snmpd
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 9 Jul 24 2009 /usr/sbin/snmpd@ -> snmpdv3ne*
    B. The script AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/network/snmp/peer/start_peer has needs to be corrected on AIX :
    1. the locations of "whoami" needs to be corrected from "/usr/ucb/whoami" to "/bin/whoami"
    2. the command starting the os snmp deamon must be changed to
    $SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &
    Alternatively add two blocks for operating system AIX:
    elif [ "$uname" = "AIX" ] ; then
    USERID=`/bin/whoami`
    SNMPD=/usr/sbin/snmpd
    SNMPD_CONFIG=/etc/snmpdv3.conf
    SNMPD_OPTIONS=""
    BP="AIX"
    TRPCMD="exit 1"
    ENCAP_OPT="-s 1160"
    elif [ "$uname" = "AIX" ]
    then
    echo "Starting $SNMPD ..."
    echo "$SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &"
    $SNMPD $SNMPD_OPTIONS -p $NEW_SNMPD_PORT >snmpd.out 2>&1 &
    Starting up emsubagent
    None of the following processes must be upp and running: snmpd, emsubagent, master_peer, encaps_peer
    The following ports must not be allocated: snmp, smux, 161, 1161, 199
    run as root:
    ORACLE_HOME= <full path to the AGENT_ORACLE_HOME>
    export ORACLE_HOME
    $ORACLE_HOME/network/snmp/peer/start_peer -a
    This must start the following processes as root: master_peer, encaps_peer, snmpd
    As agent ORACLE_HOME owner run
    AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl start subagent
    The snmp_*.ora files needs to be copied from AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin to RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    Restart the listener, query the listener status
    "RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl status <listener_name>" must show: SNMP ON

  • Apple Mail Repeatedly Using Wrong Outgoing SMTP Server

    Hi
    SInce upgrading to Mavericks my Apple Mail is extremely confused.  It is trying to send emails using SMTP servers to other accounts.
    For example, one of my Gmail accounts will send using a outgoing server from my university email.  The sender name works out correctly, but it is tedious to sort through finding which outgoing server will work and provide the right user name.
    My me mail keeps asking which outgoing server to use.
    Is there a one and done solution to this?  I'm already trying to get used to Outlook and Thunderbird, but frankly did used to like Mail.

    I solved this with the following steps:
    Change the "Outgoing Mail Server" to "None"
    Compose a new email
    Click the send button
    A window will come up that allows you to select the outgoing mail server (this is the same window that appeared when Mail was originally having connection issues to the mail server)
    Select the outgoing server you want to use (in my case, my company's exchange server) and send the email
    You should now find that the "Outgoing Mail Server" has been set back to the one it should be, and all your mail is actually being sent via this server.

  • How to find out the web/app server used by OBIEE and OBIEE HomePath (Urgent

    Hi All ,
    I have two questions
    1) I wanted to know the OBIEE home path if it is installed on the some other machine (Client's Machine).
    I wanted to update the .css files present on the machine, but before updating the file i should know the home path, to reach the desired .css file and update accordingly. I dont know where they have installed OBIEE.By default OBIEE home is (c:\) but if the user has selected some other drive then, how we can find the OBIEE Home path?
    I have the access to the machine.
    2) The path of the CSS files depends on the web server used by OBIEE.
    When IIS web server is used, the CSS files in OracleBI_HOME\web\app\res directory
    when OC4J is used, the CSS files in OracleBI_HOME\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res
    so inorder to update i must know which server is being used.
    Is there any way to find out which web application server is installed on the clients machine?
    Thanks in advance.!!!!!

    Please see responses to your first posting here: OBI EE Home Path

  • How to find out who installed SQL Server in Big orgnization?

    Hi all,,,
    I want to find out who installed SQL server in their computers/servers. The internet is open and it's easy to install SQL server EXPRESS. Iam not looking for the command which will results computers in my vlan only. Iam looking for a query to result out
    all SQL installed with different Vlan within the organization.
    Anyway to find them out?!  Thanks.

    No need to know WHO install it but is it possible to know the Host name that SQL installed in?!
    You asked for "who", not for "where".
    You can use MS MAP =
    Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit : "Software Usage Tracker Feature Overview ....
    SQL Server" to get reports, which software is running on which machine.
    Or you can use this PowerShell Script
    Create Inventory of SQL Server in Network as Html
    For both you need permissions to fetch the required information from all machines, of course.

    the mailbox I set up has suddenly change the outgoing SMTP server to offline. Whatever I do I cannot edit it to become online

    Hello Jeba1969
    Use Connection Doctor to see what is causing it to be offline, like a incorrect password or a different setting for authentication. Check out the article below to get a start on troubleshooting your issues with sending mail.

  • Outgoing SMTP server says "offline" can't send e-mails

    Set up new iCloud e-mail. Incoming mail works. Outgoing SMTP server says "offline." Can't send e-mails from this account. Need info on how to set it up. Thanks.
    M

    You might want to try signing out of your iCloud account, then back in.  Go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then sign back in.
    This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your Mac, but not from iCloud.  It will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in, after a brief delay as it redownloads.

  • Where to find out with serial number to verify whether my dslr is genuine or not?

    where to find out with serial number to verify whether my dslr is genuine or not?

    Hey guys!
    The following information can be found at https://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/gray_market
    Information on Parallel or "Gray Market" Products
    Canon sells and supports Canon-brand consumer and professional products in the U.S. through Canon U.S.A., which distributes these products through its authorized dealers and distributors. Canon U.S.A. is the only authorized importer of these products in the U.S., and provides industry-leading customer service and support for them. Products distributed by Canon U.S.A. are "localized" to meet the needs of customers in the U.S. market and are engineered to comply with local safety regulations and governmental requirements. As such, these products come with different accessories, manuals, and warranties than the versions intended for sale in other global regions such as Asia. Any Canon-brand products which are imported and sold other than by this method are referred to as "parallel," or "Gray Market," products (collectively, "Gray Market Products").
    Hazards and Difficulties Associated with "Gray Market" Products
    Customers in the U.S. may find that Gray Market Products do not meet their expectations because they were not intended by Canon for sale in the U.S. In some cases, sellers of Gray Market Products may attempt to localize the products themselves by adding, changing or removing certain accessories from the products, which may result in the following:
    including in product packaging illegal or counterfeit accessories, such as batteries, chargers, and ink tanks, which can cause injury and seriously damage your Canon product;
    an incorrect power cord or adapter which was not provided, or quality checked, by Canon;
    incorrect software or illegal copies of software which may not function;
    poor photocopies of the original manual;
    a fake Canon U.S. warranty, a warranty provided by a third party, or no warranty at all; and
    a device with a serial number which cannot be registered with Canon in the U.S.
    Customers should also be aware that Gray Market Products may not be eligible for:
    coverage under a U.S. warranty;
    U.S. promotions, including mail-in and instant rebates; and
    technical support
    If you are in doubt about a seller, or whether the products it sells are intended for the U.S., please visit http://usa.canon.com/authorizeddealers for a list of Canon U.S.A.'s Authorized Dealers. New and genuine Canon products intended for sale in the U.S. can only be purchased from Canon Authorized Dealers in the U.S. or from Canon U.S.A. directly.

  • Cannot edit outgoing SMTP server list in mail.app

    Did a fresh install of Snow Leopard on a new 13" Macbook Pro unibody and was trying to add an IMAP email account. After failing to connect, I was trying to specify the outgoing port and realized that I could not edit the outgoing SMTP server list.
    Steps to reproduce error:
    1. Open mail.app
    2. Go to Mail > Preferences
    3. Select "Accounts" tab and select any mail account
    4. Select "Account Information" tab and click Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down menu
    5. Select "Edit SMTP Server List..."
    After that point the instead of opening the list of servers with their settings, it simply returns to the "Account Information" screen. I'm a bit confused because I've never had this happen before in any other version of mail app. I cannot edit or delete any outgoing mail server accounts because of this. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

    This should not happen. Had you migrated back to the fresh install the Mail folder in User-Library? Or is this a clean setup? I would go to User-Library-Preferences, and drag the com.apple.mail.plist to the trash, then open Mail and try again.
