Just as an aside, how do you use Text Wizard in JDeveloper 10g? Whilst I can create the jsp pages and the SQL scripts, I can't get them to run. I guess my real question is when ' when do you invoke the wizard?' - do you need an application workspace, workspace, project, model, viewcontroller, etc.?
The OBE makes it look really easy but refers to JDeveloper 9i and doesn't seem to relate to 10g.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Where to find the log file

Log and trace messages are written in <installation_path>j2eeclusterserver0log<b>defaultTrace.trc</b>. But it's very hard to read this file's content with a text editor... So you should use the LogViewer utility. You can use either the standalone or the integrated LogViewer that you can find in <i>J2EE Visual Administrator -> Server XX -> Services -> LogViewer</i>. You need to enable Unicode Hex Input in the Language & Text Input Sources preference pane. Also, check the box that shows the input menu in the menu bar.
After selecting Unicode Hex Input, you can hold down the option key while keying in 00AD and you get the character.
The other option is the Edit > Special Characters menu item. If you select the gear drop-down in the upper left corner of this panel, you can customize the left panel contents, including addition of Unicode Characters. Once you have that panel item added, you can select the Unicode character, and by double-clicking the Font Variation, it will appear at the current cursor position in your document.

Find text in pdf

I need to develop a plugin that search for some text into the document, then when I found a particular string I need to examine the page where the text is found, and I need to export all the page as TIFF and also exporting all text in a text file.
I suppose that I use the PD Layer. Anyone can give me a brief list of the function I have to use?

The PDE layer is not recommended for finding text because
* it is not broken into words
* it may not be in reading order
* there is no encoding conversion
This means that you will only sometimes find text based on a simple
scan of PDEText elements.
In reading about AVConversion realise that there are two things being
documented.
1. How a plug-in can provide new formats for conversion to or from
PDF. You do not want this.
2. How a plug-in can use an existing AVConversion handler to convert
to or from PDF. This is what you want.

Frequent insertion of ["r;text"] where I entered ["text"]

I am using RH7. With annoying frequency I find [”r;text”] where I entered ["text"], like so:
The replacement string has backward quotes as seen in my subject line. Copy and paste, for some reason, does not bring them in here. I have continually fixed manually, only to have them come back. I have done a multi-file search and replace. And they still return.
I can find no pattern.
Usually, all quotes in a topic have been replaced if any have, but not always.
I have two RH projects, and it happens in both.
It does not seem to affect topics based on when I last edited them.
It is not related to building the .CHM file.
I had used RH7 for a number of months without the difficulty. I only began seeing it after I reinstalled on a new computer, although I don't know if it is related since I have no idea how long it had been happening before I noticed.
Why is this, and what do I do about it?

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside a photo or iTunes library will corrupt the library. Changes to such a library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Ignore any other messages that appear in the Terminal window.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

I've just installed JAVA into my computer.
Then I found a folder called "Java 1.4.2 SDK" or
something like that. but in the folder there wasn't
any .exe file to run JAVA, os i would like to know how

actually discussions are of two types in portal...one you start at any folder or document level and second is you start under ur HOME role in discussion .
First type of discussion is stored in /collaboration repository and second type of discussion is stored in /discussiongroup repository. you can find these repository in content admin -> km content

Where to find the MI Application Name

I am creating a smart sync application. While creating the application that wizard does not ask to enter application name. But I herd that we need to give the same name to the war file as in the getApplicationName() method. I know that this method is in AbstractMEHttpServlet class, we need to overwrite this method. Where can I mention this application name.......

you will need to subclass the AbstractMEHttpServlet and in the implementation,
you will need to return a String for your application name on the getApplicationName()
method. In your project, if created by a wizard, you will find one subclass of the
AbstractMEHttpServlet.
Note that the applicationName should not have a space character in it.
Now when your application is ready and archived, you can then upload it into
the middleware and register your application. During registration, you will need to
specify the same mcd name as your application name.

Cant find text editor - elements 10

I cant find any of my editing palettes! I'm not sure that's what you call them, but, it is how you edit the space between letters and characters. At the top of the box it says, "Character" "Paragraph". That's not the only one either. I have searched everywhere and cant find them. I have tried to do a lot of the tutorials so that I can learn how to do things, but alot of them I cant finish because I cant find all the editing palettes. I read somewhere to double-click on a text layer and it would bring up the edit palette to change the vertical and horizontal spacing and such but that doesn't work either. Also like the layer style dialog window, cant find it either. Please help me find these things......I know I'm a sad case! lol...

Reading the Help files is what I did to learn PSE.
When the Help is open, there's an icon in the upper right corner for "View as PDF", then you can save that PDF to your computer for reading and searching. (Do that for both the Editor and the Organizer, since the help files are separate.)
I also found the Adobe TV tutorials very helpful:

You'll want to view the tutorials for PSE8, PSE9, and PSE10 because some of the tools were unchanged and new videos weren't created for the newer versions. When you watch the videos, look to the right of the video viewer -- some of the tutorials have sample files for download so you can practice on the same photos used in the tutorial.
What I've found is that these are the 3 most important things to get comfortable with in PSE:
Making selections.
Using Layers.
Using Masks.

That's all the service call wizard has ever done. You can choose between a Function Module, any class, the assistance class (if you have one), and a web service proxy class.
What would you want it to do if not call the proxy class?

Find text set in a certain font?

I sometimes emphasize with italics, in Id this means I select the word and select the italic version of the font. Or at least, that is what I did a few times in the past. But these days, I have a character style that sets the character style to slanted. I know, I have one or two instances left in the text where I selected a different font and in one case even accidentally the italic version of a wrong font.
Is there a way I can find (any) text set in a specific font?

Sure. Use Find Text!
(You probably need to press the More Options button, for the very first time, to get the Find Formatting box.)
