Where to include connection processing methods?

In an architecture which uses JSPs as the presentation layer, and contains objects representing each table of an Oracle database (one object per table), should the connection processing be included in the JSPs, or should it be included within the method of each database object that prepares the SQL statement?
By connection processing, I mean methods for establishing the connection, returning a reference to it, and closing it.

You should not include that type of logic in the JSP at all! It's usually not clean to do that. You should separate that portion of the code and put them inside the DAO perhaps...

  • Out of no where, will not connect wirelessly​.

    I just purchased a Windows 8 pc. However, I take such good care of my techie things I still have an old Toshiba laptop about 8 years old, maybe a little less that runs just great, it's just the technolgy was getting a little behind. It's the old style "tablet" that has the swivel screen and was considered "heavy" accord to our standards today.
    The Toshiba Satellite (circa 2005) laptop is an XP with all the updates and service packs. I keep it lean and clean with Advanced System Care, have for months with no problem. It was always used to connect wirelessly.
    About the middle of February I switced from Verizon slow DSL to Comcast because we have no other choice for a faster speed. No FIOS. But, I've come back a full 180 to Verizon. However I did get a new modem, the latest advances. It's a D-Link ADSL2+  (DSL2750B)  Supposed to run 3 to 6 times faster than the old Verizon modem I had. When I first connected to the DSL I turned this laptop on, connected wirelessly and it was there great going! I was even hitting almost the top speed I am provisioned for wireless. The modem is only 2 feet away but still. I turned if off, turned my attention back to the new Windows 8 machine for a day couple of days
    Then I wanted to go back and check the Toshiba XP  and revel in it's great performance on this new modem .... drat!!  It detects all local stations, even of course mine, but when I try to connect it tries but fails and jumps to a neighbors DSL. I can however connect with the Ethernet cord.
    I've been using this Toshiba Tablet for months with a USB wireless adapter just fine that a friend gave me. In fact either the internal wireless adapter and the USB worked with not a problem but tests seemed to show his gift of the adapter was a little faster, so I use it exclusively. 
    So neither wireless adapter, internal or USB will connect to my modem. I even tried pressing the WPS button on the modem, the one that's lets someone near log on without a password.
    So there it is. Can anyone have a clue why this worked at the first and now won't?  Also, all other pc's, including a netbook with XP and a new small android tablet are connecting no problem. It's the Toshiba laptop alone that for some reason ...

    Since the computer can connect with the neighbor's router, I don't think there is a problem with wireless connection on the computer. So it has to be some configuration or settings problem with the new modem. I would check the encryption of the new modem. If the computer can see the modem, but not connect, my thinking is that the encryption is blocking the connection. Temporarily disable the encryption on the new modem and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, you may want to check the advanced settings on the modem and compare the IP settings on the computers that work versus the one that doesn't.

    G4 Macs have no built video/webcams or microphones.
    The best solutions are USB devices.
    First, you need to determine the version of Skype that you can use. The newest Skype version 5 can only run on Macs with a min. OS X version of OS 10.5.8 Leopard.

    There are not a lot of webcams or microphones that work with both Macs and Skype.

    You would need to buy and try to test.

    Since you want to use a class that is not part of your EJB environment you cant access it.
    Like you said your ELUWS14 class is part of your web project, most likely to be inside a war. And the session bean inside an ear.
    If you need that class on both environments (session beans and web components) the best approach is to create a JAR file and include it there. If it is going to change a lot then the best approach is to have it on your ear (EJB side), and your web components should call the session beans method to invoke operations.
    Your business rules should not access your presentation layer:
    EJB -> Web components Not a good idea
    EJB <-> Web components Not a good idea
    EJB <- Web components This is the way to go
    So, web components should access classes from the ear, and not viceversa. This is why containers make ear classes accesible to web component, and not in the other way

  • UD Connect process automization

    Hi,
    My name is venkat. I am in need to automate the UD Connect process in SAP BI. I am trying to push the data on daily load basis from SQL Server 2005 to SAP BI. I was told to use UD Connect due to some restrictions.
    Could you plz let me know how I can automize the UD Connect process. I have a minimum experience configure the RFC destination etc. But that is not enough to go and start the process.
    First I wanted to know how the view will be taken it to SAP BI?
    Before the view is moving to SAP BI, will the UD Connect converts the view into Flat file and then transfers to SAP BI?
    If it converts to flat file, where will it be stored in SAP BI? Is it stores in Application directory of the BI server or something else?
    If it not converts into flat file, then how can I automate this process on daily load basis, for this should I write any ABAP program? If yes, please let me know the pseudo code how I can do it?
    I am really confusing about the daily load basis.
    It would be highly appreciated if you let me know the process.

  • Monitoring/debug the database connection process

    Hi,
    I am trying to define a new database connection using the JDBC-ODBC Bridge (trying to connect to a legacy apps), and keep getting an error message from the ODBC driver manager, which work perfectly fine outside the JDev environment.
    Is there a way for me to monitor/debug the database connection process, prior to a successful test connection, in order for me to find out exactly where/what the problem is?

    u can connect first process in a Process chain to second, just click on first process and drag and drop onto second one.
    3 options will appear:
    1. succesfull---green line
    2. unsuccesfull----red line
    3. always-----black.
    select one option then linked will be formed.
    green line means the second process will be executed if and only if first process ran successfully.
    red line means the second process will be executed if and only if first process ran unsuccessfully.
    black line means line means the second process will be executed even if first process ran successfully or unsuccesfully.

    LOL.. don't switch off the TC.. this is fairly typical behaviour..
    Or try a different usb hub.. but you could well and truly run out of hubs before you fix the problem.
    Are you running latest firmware for your TC?
    What error message is coming up in the airport utility.. amber led is a fault indicator.. look up what the actual fault is and see if it is for instance overloading the usb. You are using a powered hub??
    Get one bigger USB hard disk instead of 3 smaller ones.

    The consolidation methods types you have listed are the standard ones  provided by BPC for Consolidation Method types.
    You can set the Consolidation Methods in the BPC Administration Console under Business Rules Library -> Consolidation Methods.
    There you can see some defaults - you can remove these and set your own if you prefer.
    You should read the BPC340 Training guide.

  • Multiple Data Source (for FAILOVER) in Easy Connect Naming method

    Hi All,
    I was wondering if there is a way to specify multiple addresses as part of data source property in the connection string when trying to connect to Oracle with Easy Connect Naming method? this is basically for failover scenario.
    I know its straight forward, if i use Connect Descriptor. But not sure how to do it with EZConnect
    For ex. this is what I want to achieve with EZConnect
    sales.us.example.com=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS_LIST=
    (LOAD_BALANCE=off)
    (FAILOVER=ON)
    *(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=sales1-server)(PORT=1521))*

    You might get better answers in one of the DB forums from a generic fail-over perspective as EZconnect isn't specific to ODP.NET.
    I don't know if there's a way to do it or not with EZConnect version of the connect string, but you can certainly provide the fully qualified connect string without using tnsnames.ora..

  • Oci_connect using easy connect naming method needs listener??

    Hi,
    I was thinking that using the easy connect naming method in oci_connect does not require a running local tnslsnr!? Am I wrong?
    I tried:
    $db = '(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = my-ora-host.example.com)(PORT = 1521)) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME = my-service.example.com)))';
    // $db = '//my-ora-host.example.com:1521/my-service.example.com';
    $ora_conn = oci_connect('test', 'test', $db);
    Using both versions of the 'db' I receive the error:
    mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Warning: oci_connect(): ORA-12541: TNS:no listener in ....
    I am using a self compiled PHP 5.3.8 using Oracles instantclient 11.2.0.3.0 (on Linux, 32bit).
    There are NO special environment variables ( like ORACLE_HOME or TNS_ADMIN), because I was thinking that I don't need them...
    Am I wrong? Is a running tnslsnr always required? Or am I doing wrong in specifying the connection string?

    The connection strings are fine. They only control how PHP attempts to connect to the DB. The DB will need a listener started so that those incoming requests are handled. Use: 'lsnrctl start' on the DB machine.
