Where to install app in N8

I install my app in my n8 phone memory.IS THAT CORRECT.I install games in mass memory.

If you have a choice I would highly recommend that you install all your downloaded apps onto the E: drive for a few reasons...
1.  Some programs require installing on the C: drive so I always prefer to leave that space for those unique cases.
2.  In the case that anything becomes corrupted with your installed apps you can simply reformat the E: drive and then reload all your apps easily from the Ovi Store (Ovi remembers what apps you downloaded so reinstalling them is simple).  If you install apps onto C: and then something becomes corrupted you're in trouble because if you reformat the C: drive then you lose Qt and Ovi Store.  There is no official solution today for users to reinstall Qt and Ovi Store and they are NOT embeded in the current firmware.  So you are forced to go to a NOKIA care center where they will reinstall it for you.
3.  Finally, I don't think there's any performance difference between C: and E: because they are physically on the same piece of silicon.  They are simply partitioned that way from NOKIA.
If you want more info on the 2nd reason above then check out this case...

It should be on one of the home screens or in a folder.

I'm running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard fine on my MacPro1,1, Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 2.66 GHz  Mac, but I need to install Lion 10.7.0 to run a program I need. How do I install OS 10.7 NOT 10.7.5, because I get this message when I try to install 10.7.5, which I've downloaded:"This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7." on a mac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, So i need to install the original 10.7.0 over the 10.6.8  i.e. where can I find the original install app for Lion OS 10.7.0? The original Lion 10.7. is not avaialable for purchase from the App store or anywhere,  even C-Net . Where can I find it to purchase?
Also it seems I cannot install Mountain Lion over 10.6.8 as advertised. When I go to purchase I get this message: "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer."   I think my computer can handle it (specs above) Are there any workarounds to this?

If you're getting a "This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7" message, than you have the updater and not the full installer. Go to your Purchases section of the Mac App Store and you should see the full version there. But it may be 10.7.5, though in my system is shows as being from 2011 which would appear to be the original version.
As to Mountain Lion, that's supported only on the Early 2008 Mac Pro or newer.

You do not.  Apps and any content purchased from the iTunes store are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

  • After downloading and install 10.8 from the Mac Store, where does the install app go? I would like to burn the 'InstallESD.dmg" package to DVD.

Hi folks -- i downloaded ML 10.8 from the Mac Store yesterday, and before installing saw the install app in my Applications folder. Following a posting on Macworld.com, I would like to make a DVD backup of the installer, but after restarting from the installation process, the Installer app is gone from the Applications folder, and I cannot find it anywhere... In would like to make that DVD backup in case I have Internet issues and need to do an install.
Do I need to download the installar again (and if I do, do I have to pay for it again), or is it hidden somewhere invisibly on my drive?--
    Thanks in advance ~

It gets deleted as soon as you install.
You need to quit the installer and extract from the app package before installing or download again.

  • Where can the install.app file be found when installing Adobe Creative Suite CS5, download version ?

I have the same problem that the user who wrote the post "Trouble installing content files on Mac", but his post went unanswered. Here is the link: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4221280. I am trying to install the adobe creative suite CS5 downloaded from the internet, and what I have is a dmg file. When I open it, there is only a read me and a folder named "English". In the read me I go to the install instructions, and they tell me to double-click in Install.app, a file which doesn't exist. What am I doing wrong?

I downloaded it from Adobe Store. When I open the dmg file I see the read me.pdf and the English folder, nothing more. Perhaps the problem is that I have already installed the program in one computer, this is happening to me trying to install it in another one. Could that be it, that I need another license in order to make it work?

  • Creative Cloud fails to see installed apps

I have installed Creative Cloud in a non-standard way.  I install the applications on a separate drive from the operating system (and indeed where Adobe insists that Creative Cloud installs itself), this is done for all of my applications as it means that, usually, a re-install of the operating system for whatever reason doesn't require re-downloading and installing everything again.
Recently the C drive failed completely and had to be replaced.  All of the CC (2014 versions) applications still exit and can still be launched from the drive they were installed on, but the CC application itself fails to see the installed app's.
I've tried changing the installation folder to the one where they all are;  changing the language;  signing in and out after each action;  and deleting/renaming the file in the OOBE folder.
    So, two questions :
Why does CC not have an installation path other than C drive?  There is nothing in it that requires it be there.
How do I make CC "see" all of the applications that are already installed?  (N.B. deleting the folders and re-downloading isn't a solution, it's a work-around that is clumsy and stupid, putting the entire onus on the customer)
Finally, am I the only one who finds the CC launcher to be the biggest PITA of the new version of CS?  Every other version I've used worked and updated faultlessly, the latest version just seems to be an absolute mess.

The install info is stored in the opm.db and caps.db files and those went down the drain with your system drive. There is no way to restore it without reinstalling. The rest is not worth debating. Things just are as they are.

I have tried to download Mavericks on my 2010 iMac(10.6.8), but nothing happens, not even the install app downloads, also I tried to download chrome, I moved it to the applications folder and when I opened the folder it wasn't there. I have a 1tb hard drive that is mostly empty. By the way I just got this imac used from a reseller.

Mavericks downloads into the Applications folder, where you can install it.   Some Mac App Store Troubleshooting information and how to resume a download that was interrupted; some of the information here might get you an answer.   Failing that, try contacting Apple Support.

  • IPod Touch 4th gen unable to install apps

Not sure where to start really. OK basically my iPod touch 4th gen is unable to download apps from the app store or any content from the iTunes app, the only way I can get new content on to my device is to sync it with iTunes on my mac (which isn't convenient for me)
after about 3 weeks of running my iPod without any problems, it starts out of nowhere and it doesn't matter what firmware I am running (it has happened on 4.1 and 4.2.1) the only way to fix it is a full DFU restore even more annoying than not being able to install apps without my mac.
Here is the message I get: http://i.min.us/ijfOIK.PNG
Anyone know what is up with my iPod? I have an old Touch 2G as well and its never done this to me.
Note: i am not jailbroken, but i have a few friends and family members that are jailbroken and have never had this problem.
if anyone knows anything i would appreciate it as i am now on my 13th DFU restore thanks to this problem

  • Is it possible to install apps on an external drive?

    Hi.
I'm leasing an Imac for 2 years, and then can trade it in for the next generation.
Rather than have to re-install the  apps, is it possible to put them on an external thunderbolt or 800  firewire drive?
    Thanks.

Most applications only install on the boot drive, though with some it's possible to move them after installation, or to choose where they install. The best approach is probably to just install them on the boot drive as normal, then clone your entire hard drive to an external drive when it comes time to upgrade your system. You can then use Migration Assistant to move your applications, settings and documents from the external drive to your new system, or just clone it back (assuming that the version of Mac OS X on the
Note though that in two years, it's quite probably that your current applications will need to be upgraded to be compatible with the version of Mac OS X then available - certainly 10.7 Lion and perhaps even yet a newer version by then - and you'll quite possibly need to reinstall at least some the applications anyway.

  • Where is the "apps" menu item in the new iTunes interface?

Where is the “apps” menu item in the new iTunes interface?  I can no longer transfer files from my PC to my iPhone.
I just downloaded and installed the updated iTunes for my iPhone.  I cannot find the “apps” menu item anywhere.  How can I continue to download various types of files FROM my PC (Windows 7) TO my iPhone?  I previously did this by clicking on the “apps” menu item and going from there.  I cannot find the “apps” anywhere on the new iTunes.  Thanks.

Tonefox, no it's not under "Music" but I did some more digging and found where Apple has "hidden" Apps on their latest iTunes for PC.    You need to click on "iPhone" (upper right menu item) to display more menue items, of which Apps is one of them.  When I had clicked on "iPhone" before, I mistakenly closed the the iPhone option from view because I clicked on the up arrow next to iPhone, instead of just iPhone.  Once you click on iPhone, the options look similar to what they did in the earlier version of iTunes and you can easily find Apps.

  • Installing apps from non-admin account

I read an earlier post that installing apps from a non-admin account is a bad idea because SL applies the wrong permissions. I normally install from a non-admin account.... I don't see that the permissions on stuff I've installed are any different from apps that came with SL. Most everything is drwxr-xr-x. Was this fixed, or am I missing the problem.

    KJK555 wrote:
+"That isn't a problem at all. Applications should not require that the user have write+
    +access to the application."+
I didn't say anything about a user having write access permission, I was talking about read
permissions. All apps installed in the /Applications directory should have group permissions
set to admin or wheel (depending on the type of app), so the system can read them without
    problems. That's the Unix way.
I completely disagee. The system already has read permission to all applications in the /Applications folder. It doesn't matter what the group privilege is set to. The "other" permissions are set to read only. System (root) can read it regardless. If you can show me an Apple tech article that says that apps installed in the /Applications folder should have their group privilege changed to "admin" or "wheel" then I would gladly take that back.
+"Leopard does not put any ACLs on anything installed in the /Applications folder"+
That's right, it doesn't normally, but if it finds an app that it does not have permission
to read, it will assign an ACE(s) to it so that it can access it.
I just tested that in 10.5.8, and it does not happen as you say. I can't try it in 10.6. I'd appreciate if you could provide a specific example where you can make this happen.
Besides, all users, by default, have read only access to all applications. Unless a user specifically changes permissions on an app to deny read access to everyone, then this isn't an issue.

I know what ACLs are and how they work. I have read through those and cannot find in any of those threads anything about what you had been talking about.

or even the entire Applications folder. Symptoms of the Application folder's permissions
being set incorrectly include applications appearing in the dock as question marks, and/or
not being able to connect to the Internet. It is also possible that software installed while
logged in as one user will be inaccessible when logged in as another. To avoid this, make sure
you are logged in with your normal user account when installing software that you wish to use
    with that account."
That has to do with third party installer apps that developers have not written properly to conform to OS X standards. It isn't an issue with applications that install by drag-and-drop. It sounds to me like you have looked at the permissions that Apple has put on its own apps and jumped to the conclusion that third party apps won't work unless they have the exact same permissions applied to them. That simply isn't true.
    "Software access=user access
Most applications executed by a user only have access to the files that the user has access to.
Backup software, for example, may not back up Mac OS X system files that have root ownership."
Utilities, especially disk utilities, are to be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder, for reasons
    stated above.
No. That is completely wrong. Like I said earlier, an application is given root permission by user authentication. It matters not one little bit what the application's enclosing folder is. I personally have no third party apps in /Applications/Utilities; just what Apple puts there as part of a standard OS X installation.
