Where to install CS2?

I followed directions and downloaded CS2 (which I previously could not activate).  However, Windows 7 will not let me install it in c/program files or c/program files (x86); the message says that it has symbols that apparently cannot be read.  So, where can I install it?  Bob

Yes, it was an .exe file.  Screenshot attached.  Thanks, kglad!

  • Still trying to install CS2 on Windows 7 from download

This is my third or forth post.  I have:
Downloaded CS2 from the downloads page.  I installed it using the serial number on that page.  When I try to start Photoshop, it loads but then up pops a message saying "your user name, organaization or serial number are invalid", and then it quits.
It was suggested that I probably have a file somewhere on my computer with info in it from my original attempt to install from my disks.  I have read the Adobe writeup about uninstalling files manually and followed all the directions.  I could not find any of those files on my machine.  It's true, I did try to install CS2 from my disks first and then unistalled it when I was told I could no longer activate that serial number.  I unistalled using the Windows "remove/repair" option.  I agree that there is probably a file lurking somewhere on my computer that has the old info in it but WHERE IS IT??  What's worse is the instructions for manual uninstall use directory names that Windows 7 doesn't use, but I did a search on every file name and didn't find anything.
I have spent so many hours on this, it's getting depressing.
    Now what??
All I need is Photoshop.   I don't really need the rest of the Suite.

If you just want photoshop cs2 then use the single installer for photoshop cs2 instead of the suite installer.
Unistall what you installed and then use the single installer for photoshop cs2.

  • Installing CS2 on Macbook Pro

I just bought a new Macbook Pro running (OSX 10.8.3) and trying to install CS2, but having problems. I spoke with Adobe support who directed me to a download site (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2%5Fdownloads) where I downloaded the installer files (5 total plus PDF). When I go to install I get an error message "You can’t open the application “Adobe Installer” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
What gives? I kind of get it that Adobe doesn't support older software, but if I had known that buying new computer would render my CS2 obsolete, I wouldn't have done it. I was fine with CS2 and didn't need to upgrade beacuse I had all the functionality I needed. I paid a lot for it at the time and don't want to drop another $1K+ to get back to what I needed to do before.
Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this? Am I really out of luck?

You are out of luck I'm afraid. CS2 was designed to run on a PowerPC not an Intel Mac. Apple did license some software called "Rosetta" which enabled PowerPC software to run on earlier versions of the Intel OSX but it hasn't been supported since OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) so OSX 10.7 (Lion) and OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) can't run CS2. CS3 is the earliest version that will work on your Macbook.

  • Installing CS2 Premium

I cloned my HD to an SSD, but upon using the SSD in the computer, Windows CS2 Premium wanted activation again, and Adobe's activation system had some problem. I was then instructed to download a new CS2 Premium at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads; however, install instructions and site contents do not match. So, how do I install the Windows CS2 premium at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads when the files stated in the install pdf do not match the files at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads?

to install Windows CS2 from the downloads obtained at
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads, install CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1.exe first; it will ask you where to install. I installed it at
C:\CreativeSuiteCS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0, but the default is
C:\Creative Suite CS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\ ; however, “Creative Suite CS2” can be replaced with any path part, and, as i stated, I replaced it with CreativeSuiteCS2. I could also have used Program Files\Adobe to replace Creative Suite CS2. once the path for CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1.exe is chosen, use the same path, i will call it PathCS2, when installing CreativeSuiteCS2Disc2.exe and CreativeSuiteCS2Disc3.exe . the install for CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1.exe will request loading the 2nd and 3rd CDs. when it does that, install CreativeSuiteCS2Disc2.exe and CreativeSuiteCS2Disc3.exe respectively to PathCS2 and the installation will continue automatically after clicking the OK-Button on the request-to-load-CD box.
CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1.exe , CreativeSuiteCS2Disc2.exe, and CreativeSuiteCS2Disc3.exe only install Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, the others (CS_2.0_WWE_Extras_1.exe , AcrobatPro7Install.exe, GoLiveCS2Install.exe, and InCopyCS2Install.exe) must be installed individually after downloading them from https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads. i installed CS_2.0_WWE_Extras_1.exe in C:\CreativeSuiteCS2 . once these installations are completed, CS_2.0_WWE_Extras_2, Acrobat Distiller 7.0, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Designer 7.0, Adobe GoLive CS2, Adobe Help Center, Adobe Illustrator CS2, Adobe ImageReady CS2, Adobe InCopy CS2, Adobe InDesign CS2, and Adobe Photoshop CS2 will be installed.

  • Can't install CS2 Suite when CS5 is present?

I'm not sure where the problem is, but I am trying to re-install full, fresh CS2 Suite (on 10.6.4/Intel MPB).
I have bits and pieces of CS2, CS4, and CS5 on the machine currently.
When I try to install CS2, all the options are greyed out, except Photoshop. I can't do a standard install either, only custom.
    See:   http://bayimg.com/PaNomAaCe
I don't think this is a Snow Leopard problem, if I boot into 10.5 (Leopard), I get the same problem.
Its been a while since I needed to install older versions while current versions are present, and I seem to remember issues, but I am at a loss on this one.
    Any help or ideas?

It won't let me get that far in the Suite installation. When the installation pops up, I click on the Suite and that's when it blocks me telling me that my screen resolution isn't high enough. I can't get to the screen that allows me to choose between complete and custom installation.
    Thoughts?

  • Problems installing CS2 - hangs at common files

I am installing CS2 on a new computer running Windows7 and it goes fine until it gets to the common files where it hangs up. I had to close it and the software loads but Bridge doesn't work - and I'm sure there are other problems. Could this be a faulty disk? Can I download the software from Adobe or get a new disk?
    Thanks,
    Marc

Same problem. At second attempt got a message that ipad memory was over capacity.  I had 6GB free on the ipad2 when I started to upgrade and it was now telling me i needed more!  After deleting all my photos (4GB which had been loaded from camera and the only way I could find to do this was one at a time!) the upgrade apparently succeeded but in itunes it said I now had 8GB of "Others" in the memory and only 1 GB free.
Lookign in "Diagnostics & Usage data" I can see 3 scripts coinciding with the upgrade attempts all of which start with "Sysinfocrashreporterkey" 2 with "bug-type 193" a couple of lines down, and one with "bug-type 109"
    Questions:
What are the 8GB of "Others" and how do i get rid of it?
How can I bulk-delete photos transferred from camera?
What do the bug-types refer to and do they indicate a solution?

  • Can't Install CS2 Properly on WXP SP3

    Hi All,
I recently bought Windows 7 and Adobe CS4 through my school's bookstore, well a few months ago. Before wiping out my XP install I made sure to do the "de-activiation" and for good measure, I even uninstalled CS2 (not sure if I really needed to but I did)... I installed Win7 (formatting the hdd) and CS4 and that is all working great... Now, a few months later, I'm attempting to install my old CS2 install on another computer of mine (WXP SP3). When I start the install, everything seems to work as expected until it shows the progress bar where it shows the progress of the install... Disc 1 finishes in about 2 seconds and prompts me for disc 2, again, 2 seconds later prompts me for disc 3, and finally again 2 seconds later prompts me for disc 4. Nothing is getting installed except for the "shared components"...
Why is it doing this? and what can I do to troubleshoot this?
I've copied all four discs to a folder on C: and tried the install from thier with the same results (minus the prompting for discs)...
    Thanks for your help,
    Justin

Michael - I've purchased full licenses of both CS2 (several years ago) and CS4 (just a few months ago) from my college bookstore. It is not an upgrade. It is a full academic license. I am attempting to install CS2 on another computer I own. I am not violating any terms of service. So now back to my problem.
No Adobe products (except Adobe reader) or trials have been installed on this computer...
I've search through the Adobe KB and have tried the following with no success...
    1) My specific problem is mention in this "Troubleshoot installation problems (Adobe Creative Suite 2.x on Mac OS X)" document... But I'm not using Mac OS... so this leads me to believe that this is a known issue by Adobe???
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331299.html
    2) The windows equivilant document "Troubleshoot installation problems (Adobe Creative Suite 2.x on Windows)" doesn't mention my specific problem, but I walked through all the steps anyways, but nothing resolved this issue.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331298.html
    3) Also linked in the above KB article is a "Manually remove Adobe Creative Suite 2.x (Windows)" document that I've followed but none of the folders, files, or registry entries that this documents says to remove exist on my computer...
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331300.html
Has anyone run into this issue with CS2 running through the entire install in a matter of seconds? and/or anyone have some troubleshooting steps that I could try next???
    Thank You for your help,
    Justin

Ok. I had found this "By default the Win32_QuickFixengineering class is not enabled in the Hardware Inventory"
    Doing  as there "http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/skissinger/archive/2011/08/17/non-security-hotfix-detection-for-windows-7-2008.aspx" I add to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\clifiles.src\hinv\configuration.mof"  this:

  • NEW TO THE FORUM NEED HELP INSTALLING CS2

I just bought an older version of CS2 for Mac from the original owner and when I tried to install it the software is no longer supported by my Mac. Can I install CS2 on a new Mac? And if so how, I have all the cds and the registration number. The original owner no longer has a Mac and can not use it.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    OscarCKD

You can only run CS2 on Macs running OSX 10.6 or earlier. It won't work on newer Macs using Lion or Mountain Lion (OS 10.7 and 10.8).

  • I am trying to finish a book in InDesign CS2 with another person. My old XP computer became unstable and I had to get a Windows 7 computer. I was able to install CS2 on the Virtual XP Machine on my Windows 7 computer, but I cannot register or activate it.

I am trying to finish a book in InDesign CS2 with another person. My old XP computer became unstable and I had to get a Windows 7 computer. I was able to install CS2 on the Virtual XP Machine on my Windows 7 computer, but I cannot register or activate it. Adobe no longer supports activation. Is there a way I can keep using CS2? I need to get files back and forth to my coauthor. I also have CS6. I understand that files can go form 2 to 6, but not backwards. Thanks Robert

you can download a new installer and serial number from Adobe at Adobe - CS2 Downloads

  • I am trying to install CS2 but I receive a message that my serial number is invalid.

I have been trying to install CS2 on Win XP. (My old laptop died, I still have the original disks, serial #, etc. but was unable to use because of the activation problem). I downloaded all the files from the website referenced above and tried to follow the instructions here and in the pdf. However the files that downloaded to my computer did not have the names that are mentioned in the pdf. The files that downloaded were called CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1, CreativeSuiteCS2Disc2, CreativeSuiteCS2Disc3, CS2.0_WWE_Extras_1 and VCS2. Also, I was never given an option to "install later".
However I was able to "extract" the files. They extracted into different folders, and after reading through this whole thread I was able to move the files around in the folders until they look like those in message 123 later in this thread that pictures all of the files that should be in a folder together (mine are in C:\Creative Suite CS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0).
However I still can't get it to work. If I try to run the installer in any of the programs (for example Photoshop or Illustrator), when I enter the serial number given on the website I get the message that the serial number is not valid.
    Help!!
    Thanks!

Thanks very much. Yes, I am using the installer files and serial number from the URL you referenced above. I have spent many hours trying to get it to work. I would love some help!!
The problem is that the instructions that come in the pdf with the downloaded files do not work, because the files that download from that page do not have the names referred to in the pdf, and most of the things that are referred to in the instructions do not happen. Here is what actually happened.
When I downloaded the files from the website, these are the files that downloaded:
I double-clicked each one and they extracted into two different folders.
Then I read a message on the forum that said to move all the extractred files into the same folder, so I moved all files into one file at C:\Creative Suite CS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0 as was pictured in the forum message. Here are screen shots showing all of the files in that folder I have now:
So then I double clicked the "Setup" file and I got this error message:
So then I tried to install the programs separately from the installer inside the folders Photoshop and Illustrator. I got this far and entered the serial number from the website:
But then I got this error message, even though I was using the files and serial number exactly from the website:
I tried both photoshop and illustrator and the same thing happened.
(I also looked at Solution 2 that you mentioned above but I don't have anything called VCOM on the computer. Also the error message that I got is not that one.)
I think I really need a set of instructions that lists the steps in order to do, but based on the files that actually download from the website and what happens when you extract the files. I feel as if I have all of the proper files but it still doesn't work.
    Thank you very much!

You should not have to uninstall Premiere Elements 12/12.1 in order to install and run Premiere Elements 13 on the same computer unless your computer is overloaded and the computer resources are compromised. Just use one program at a time.
Can you still use 12/12.1 on this same computer that will not let you use 13?
What specific Window operating system are you using?
Let us go through the usual drill...
    1. Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
    2. Are you using a pen and tablet device instead of a mouse?
    3. Did you install the program with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
    4. Disable the SLCache Folder found in Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit
    Local Disk C
    Program Files (x86)
    Common Files
    Adobe
and in the Adobe Folder should be the SL Cache Folder that you delete or disable by renaming the Folder
    from SLCache to SLCacheOLD.
    5. Are you running the program as Administrator and is the latest version of QuickTime installed on the same
    computer as Premiere Elements 13?
Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • Where to install Thunderbird on Mac OSX for multiple users.

    Hello,
I would like to install the email program Mozilla Thunderbird on my Mac OSX (10.4.6) computer which is set up with several different user accounts. I am not sure where to install it so that everyone may be able to use it. I would like to install it once so that everyone may use it rather than installing it multiple times (once for each user).
As you might already know, in Mac OSX when you install a program in the main applications folder, it is available for everyone who uses the computer (available to all accounts). However, the trouble is, that although the actual Thunderbird program is available to all users the profile is not. The profile obviously is an important component of the Thunderbird mail program as it contains all the actual mail messages. When Thunderbird is installed, by default the profile folder is placed in the users home Library folder at:
    users home folder/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/<Profile name>/
This location make it impossible for other users to access the profile and therefore Thunderbird will not work for the other users.
    What should I do?
I have a couple solutions, however I would like to ask for some advice on what others do in this situation which I am sure is fairly common.
    Here are my solutions:
    1. Move the profile folder to a custom location that is accessible by all users in OSX such as the global Library folder (rather than the user's Library folder). Path of global Library folder:
    /library/
Then let Thunderbird know it was moved to this custom location using Thunderbird's profile manager.
    2. Try to figure out a way in mac OSX that allows the profile folder at this default location:
    users home folder/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/<Profile name>/
to be accessible by all users.
Ownership and permissions need to be changed for the profile folder maybe?
    3. Install thunderbird multiple times - once for each user - each with their own profile. The problem with this is then there will be multiple installations of the same program and they will not be able to share the same profile folder - which is what I would like to do - if possible.
I have a feeling that solution 1 is the more logical solution.
PS I am using Mac OS 10.4.6 (Tiger) with Thunderbird 1.5.0.4
    Thanks for any advice.

Yup, its me again Always seem to have a question for the group
Thanks Mulder and Scott! I am sure glad I asked for your advice. I am completely new to the multi-user environment of OSX - as you can tell. (I guess I am still in OS9 thinking mode where there was only one user.)
    Scott wrote:
"Mail can be configured to download any new email, but not remove it from the server until it is removed from the Mail application. This way, the email can be downloaded to multiple clients across multiple accounts."
Interesting. Thanks for pointing this out Scott. Good to know. This would seem to me to be similar to IMAP in some ways. This would be a good way to work in a multi-user environment. This is good info to be aware of.
It sounds like an interesting way to work.
Thanks to both of you for steering me aware from the difficulty of attempting to place the profile folder outside the home directory. This sounds like it would have been more work than necessary.
Why am I not using Apple's Mail program? Good question. I thought I would try out Thunderbird for a while - and maybe switch to Apple Mail later - just to see which one I prefer. I am a web developer and I have always liked the open source community and I thought it would be beneficial for me to become as familiar as possible with all the Mozilla products (Firefox and Thunderbird). As well, it keeps me somewhat on the same wavelength as my PC friends, of whom many use this program too. I don't want to be too much out of touch with my mac. I might try Mail later. Thunderbird has been great so far. It has excellent spam recognition abilities and you can train it too to detect spam.
Scott the "Family account" idea is an awesome idea. Thanks.
I have learned a lot from this post. This gives me a few logical solutions. As Mulder points out it is best to keep users' profiles separate. This makes it simpler. Excellent advice. I could still install the Thunderbird application in the global application folder and then each user account can open this Thunderbird application from their own account and configure the mail client with their own profile. All users will be using the same Thunderbird application but with their own profiles. Yes, thats it. I tried this out and it seems to work now - didn't seem to work earlier because I didn't know what I was doing
Another idea could be, if I really need to share one single profile, would be to follow Scotts advice and just set up a "Family account". Very simple solution. Nice idea.
So, those are the two top solutions.
Furthermore, I could use a mix of both strategies. For mail accounts that could be shared ([email protected]) I could create a "Family account" in OSX, as Scott detailed above, and then for mail accounts that are for each individual user ([email protected]), I could be sure they have separate profiles as detailed in Mulder's post.
Thanks for all these helpful ideas!

  • Problem installing CS2 on Windows 7

I downloaded and attempted to install CS2 from the Adobe website and have been unsuccessful in getting past the "install disc 2" message.
I spoke with a rep via chat and they referred me here.
I have followed the directions that were included with the download as well as what the rep gave and am still unable to get past the install disc 2 message. When I click ok it just pops up again.
Can someone please help me to correctly install this program????
Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Install CS2 on Windows 7 32bit and 64bit, please help!

I own a legitmate CS2 Creative Suite and my old Windows XP computer must be retired. Is there any way for a non-technical person like me to install CS2 on Windows 7 64bit? I saw some instructions but they seem geared to very computer knowledgable people and I got lost just reading them. Also, I saw new that CS2 was or is being offered fro FREE from Adobe? Is that true?
OR, will CS2 as a 32bit application be more easily installed on Windows 7 32bit without any special install instructions?
Thank to alll who can help this pathetically technically challenged person! I can NOT afford to upgrade CS2.

Option 2 here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4715553 seems to work:
Copy the installer to your local drive. Right click Setup.exe, Properties > Compatibility tab > Run this in compatibility mode. Choose XP SP2. Click OK. Run Setup.exe
And yes, you can download and install them, see:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4976177
There is still ongoing discussion whether anyone is entitled to install it, or only users with a valid license, but it seems Adobe does not care.
