Where to keep .rdf file in Oracle 9iAS to generate Report ?

Hello friends,
We r using Oracle 9iAS and want to generate the Report but do not know the exact folder(or can say path) to keep .rdf file ?
Generally, we keep .rdf file in Orahome/Reports/Samples/Demo/x.rdf but it doesn't work in case of Oracle 9iAS.
If you have any solutions regarding it, please reply.

1) You can keep it anywhere and give full path name in cmd line
report=<full_path_name>\report_name.rdf
OR
2) Add the required dir to REPORTS_PATH
Windows - registry variable
HKLM\software\oracle\home<x>\
Unix - env variable
and give
report=report_name.rdf

Deployment of RDF File in Oracle Apps Directory

Hi,
I am facing problem in deploying the custom RDF file in Oracle Apps Instance.
My RDF file works fine when it is deployed in the XXASO directory structure with Profile option ASO:Print_Report_Directory set to XXASO directory.
But When the same RDF File is deployed in ASO directory structure with
Profile option ASO:Print_Report_Directory set to ASO directory it throws error.
Can anybody please Pour light on this.

Where to keep my files on a secondary hard drive

I am still relatively new to FCP, though i have done a few projects and had a **** of a time keeping track of files.
I'm about to begin a new one, and would like to get it right this time.
If I set up my Scratch Disks under System Settings, it will create Audio Render, Auto Save, Capture Scratch, etc. folders for me, which is fine. I can tell it where to put them.
But then, if I have another project going on at the same time, won't it put those into those same folders or create a whole new set with the same names?
How can I set it up so that my "Joe's Pizza" project files end up in a "Joe's Pizza" folder and my "Bill & Hillary; A Love Story" project files all end up in the folder for that project?
My apologies for such a basic question, but I still haven't been able to fully understand where these things end up and why.

I'm generally in the "letting FCP organise my folders" camp, but some places do choose to seperate everything into project folders ... it does work after a fashion, but introduces an extra step into your workflow that is easy to forget.
Obviously you'd first have to create a new project folder on your media drive for each new project, then every time you open FCP to work on a different project then the last time, you have to open up the System Settings... and redirect the Scratch Disc settings to the project folder ... these are "systemwide" settings and are not remembered on a project by project basis.

Does anyone know how or if it is possible to send the stdout and/or stderr to the log4j type of logging? I already capture the stdout and stderr to the flat file. But I would like to timestamp every line to compare and diagnose problems with each application that encounters problems. Each web app is using log4j to their own application log4j log file. When they encounter errors or resource draining problems, I would like to see the container logs and see what was occuring inside the container at around that same time.
Any ideas?

How do i fix a file where relinking or updating file is too slow and generating 60+MB pdf from a 4mb Indesign file?

I have an 18 page files linking several pdf images and working with this file is horribly slow. These pdf images(total of 15) easily take a min to relink or update (pdf's are at max 2mb but majority are less than 1mb). The Indesign file is only 4mb but when i export or print to pdf I get a 60-70mb file. Exporting or printing these 18 pages easily takes 30 min. I can't use the file with a higher display quality unless i have the patience of watching a plant grow on that day. I've read a majority of ways why InDesign would be slow. At work im operating Windows 7, Indesign 6 and I have 32MB of RAM. Extremely frustrating and reminding me of the days of dial up internet. I've already done a SAVE AS and tried to reduce linked files image size and to no avail has not helped. I was able to get my 72mb pdf file to reduce to 6mb after using Adobe Acrobat and getting rid of the hidden information but I lose alot of quality in the linework. I am guessing its because these pdfs are generated from Revit or Autocad is why it might be holding onto some hidden info. So how do i make this file work faster (relink,export,pdf etc)?

Just to note as well, InDesign only links to files, there's no embedding, you would see a 4mb file, but if it's linked to a 10mb pdf and it has to include all that PDF in the final file then it will be circa 14mb file.
What you have is a vector heavy PDF and there's no real way to reduce that without losing quality.
You may have better joy by opening the linked PDFS in acrobat and using File>Print and choose Adobe PDF (or another method) to basically refry the CAD pdfs.
I'd do this with a copy of all the files though just in case something goes drastically wrong.
Frankly, I feel it's the nature of how CAD pdfs are made that's causing the downfall here, refrying these and Printing these files to PDF removes a lot of the complicated things happening in CAD files and makes a very dulled down PDF version.
Once you've done this then try FIle>Export from indesign to make your pdf.

Oracle 9iAS v1.0.2.2.1 iSetup.exe file

Could anyone arrange me a copy of a working iSetup.exe file for
Oracle 9iAS v1.0.2.2.1, because the one that i downloaded does
not work at all when i double click on it!
I downloaded the iSetup.exe file that corrects the CD-ROM
problem, but i overwrote the one that came in the zip files.
I already downloaded the iSetup.exe again but it does the same.

Maybe this is a bit of a simple question. But, do you remember how long you waited, when the progress bar indicated 100%? The installation progress status does indicate "100%" for a while, doing some "last minute" stuff, before moving on to the "Configuration Tools" phase.
Yes, as Ashesh stated, Oracle9iAS 10222a and Oracle9i Database can co-exist on the same machine, as long as they are in separate ORACLE_HOMEs. And, yes, the structure you described (\oracle\database and \oracle\iASHome) does qualify as "separate ORACLE_HOMEs".

Our user attach some files thru VA23 and then he ask me where SAP keep the file?
Will it eat our server hard disk??
I've search on our server using find / -name but didn't found
My friend said it is on the transaction table
but how to know which table ?

Normally it stores the attachments in the SAP database ( if you are not using content server).

Since it stores in the database, obviously database will grow. depends on the size of attachments used.

Since its in the database, you cannot find in the file system using "find command". Im not sure about which table it stores. But let me see..

.RDF file: Need info

I have a .rdf file but I don't have report builder installed in machine. Is theere any way to view the underline sql in the data model?
I heard that there are some options where rdf can be converted to rtf file and then in microsoft word the underline query can be visible. Is it tru?

Context: R12 France Telecom (FT) migration from 11i
FT Reports are complex and the quantity of data / size of files generated by reports can reach up to 20Go. So I need to convert RDF to DATA Template because RDF can not generate some so big files (limit=2Go in 11i and may be 10Go in 12)
I experience some troubles / issues / limits with reports conversion to XML.
1 - some Data templates are not generated because of error : [052107_102109040][][EXCEPTION] java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 0, Size: 0. I sent you 2 mails in the past with error detail but have no answer.
2 - Data Templates are not directly usable because Reports include call to packages stored in PLL files. Pakages definition are well include in XML file generated by Report converter (1st step of conversion) but are not take in account when PL/SQL routine generation (Data template generation).
Can you help me especially for the 1st issue
I'd like to show a XMLP demo to FT using the Data source generator XDODTEXE in GL. I see XDOGLDEMO and GLGENJRNDT concurrent programs but there is no Data Definition / XML Data Template associated. Can you tell me if it exists a Data Template and where it can be retrieved from.

REPORT with dynamic WHERE CLAUSE (run RDF or REP) ?

When running a REPORT (myreport.rep) with dynamic where clause using a lexical parameter, I got this error:
REP-1439: Cannot compile .REP or .PLX file as it does not have source
If i run the report specifiying RDF extension (myreport.rdf) the report run successfully! Is this normal ?
If I specify RDF extension will Report Server COMPILE the report everytime I execute it ?
When using dynamic WHERE CLAUSE I will have to run RDF files instead of REP ?
I'm running Reports 9i under Linux, with IDS under Windows.

It sounds like you are building the .rep files on one platform (windows) and running them on another (linux). The reason that the .rdf file continues to work is that Reports recompiles the PL/SQL within the report when you move from one platform to another or change schemas. .rep files can't be re-compiled in this way so you need to ensure they are compiled successfully when converting them.
You need to convert from .rdf to .rep on the platform that you are intending to run on. Try running rwconverter on the linux platform with "compile_all=yes" to produce the .rep file and running that .rep file.

Oracle Report6i - Report and Spreadsheet in one rdf file

Hi ALL,
My user wants to have an Oracle report with header, titles etc. and also a CSV file in the same Report or rdf file.
I am thinking of using a parameter to select either the Report or the CSV file or both.
I know I can do this in 2 different rdf files.
Can it be done in the same rdf file? If so someone please help me on this. How can I create 2 different
data models, 2 different layout models etc in the same rdf. That is what I am after.
We are using Report6i which is a bummer but the Company is going .NET and does not want to spend
resources on the latest Oracle Application server.
