Where to keep the catalog

I understand it is a good idea for both safety and speed to keep the lrcat on the hard drive.  All my photos are stored on an EHD, as is, currently, my lrcat.  Since I have gotten into trouble moving things around, I'd like to hear how to move the lrcat onto the IHD, so that LR finds it there and backs it up there.

You can move the catalog file using Windows or Mac operating system. Just move the file (and any subfolders that are in the same directory) to wherever you want, and then double-click on the catalog file.

I have 3 i phones.  Can I have multiple accounts on one computer where it keeps the contacta and calendar for each?

My daughter and I both have iphones. I created an account (not separate itunes) for her on my computer so she could sync her phone/itunes but not have it interfere with mine since we have WAY different taste in music. Creating a different computer profile should work if you have separate itunes accounts, too.
If you all use the same itunes account, you can turn on Home Sharing. That way you can all download the same content without having to pay for it again. Not sure how or if that works with separate itunes accounts.
    Hope that helps!

  • Where SAP keep the attachment files?

    Dear all
Our user attach some files thru VA23 and then he ask me where SAP keep the file?
Will it eat our server hard disk??
I've search on our server using find / -name but didn't found
My friend said it is on the transaction table
but how to know which table ?
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Della

    Hello Della,
Normally it stores the attachments in the SAP database ( if you are not using content server).
    > Will it eat our server hard disk??
Since it stores in the database, obviously database will grow. depends on the size of attachments used.
    > I've search on our server using find / -name but didn't found
Since its in the database, you cannot find in the file system using "find command". Im not sure about which table it stores. But let me see..

  • Where to keep the archived log in a cluster environment.

    Hi
Where it is good to keep the archive log file. on shared storage or on local instance.
    thanks.

Where it is good to keep the archive log file. on shared storage or on local instance.
It is always good to keep the archivelog files at shared storage location. This location is accessible to all instances, so in case of failure you can recover the database from any of the instances.

  • Where to keep the Originals?

When I moved my photos from PC to Mac, I organized them into folders. Most of them are by the year, and others are by different subjects. I put them on the desktop and then moved them one by one creating albums. So, if the folder was 2005, it became an album "2005". I hope it was ok to do ?
Now the main question: all the originals I have in a folder called "originals", on the desktop.
I guess it's not good to keep it there. Where should I move it to ?
And one more question: to edit the photos, what should be used - the iPhoto Library or the folder with the Originals ?
    Thanks!

Are you running a Managed Library or a Referenced Library?
If you're running a Managed library, then it's the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing
If you're running a Referenced Library, then you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced and iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing.
If it's a managed library, then you can trash those pics. If it's a referenced one don't move them or be prepared for a lot of work re-directing iPhoto to find them.
You edit via iPhoto. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Where to keep the icons?

if i downloaded an application, theres an icon that appears on the right side of the screen, i want to keep my screen nice and tidy... where can i keep them?

    You're welcome.
You wrote: "does that apply to all downloaded softwares or application?"In general, yes.
Distributing software downloads in disk images is common. Some software is distributed in .zip archives, others in .sit or .sitx archives, the latter two requiring StuffIt Expander to expand for installation. These "containers" can be discarded after you've installed their contents, i.e. the software.
The .sit and .sitx extensions indicates the "container" is a StuffIt Archive. Tiger, unlike prior versions of Mac OS X, does not include StuffIt Expander: see "Mac OS X 10.4: Where is StuffIt Expander?"
A free download of StuffIt Expander is available from Smith Micro (nee Allume Systems) here, which you'll need in the event you download something distributed in one of the StuffIt formats.

Marking a topic as Answered indicates the question is resolved, but only you, as the person who asked the question, can mark posts as Helpful or Solved. The "Answered" status neither awards points nor provides an indication to others of the posts that were either helpful or solved the problem.
Additionally, the new "Yes/No" buttons at the bottom of posts do not assign any points: they merely collect statistics for Apple, a very confusing change recently made to the Discussions. One must click Helpful or Solved buttons to award points to those who helped you.

  • Where to keep the log file and the mdf/ndf

    Hi ,
While going through the book of Kalen Delaney "inside sql server"  I got statement  "A general recommendation is to put log files onto their own physical disk. Here I am bit confuse that we have to keep log file in same hard
disk separate derive or in separate hard disk itself. On My DB server has only one hard disk, with three logical partition, so if I keep my log file MDF on different derives will I get the performance.
    Thanks in advance for reply........
    Regards Vikas Pathak

    @sateesh : but as per link "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb402876.aspx"
This rule checks whether data and log files are placed on separate logical drives. Placing both data and log files on the same device can cause contention for that device and result in poor performance. Placing the files on separate drives allows the I/O activity
to occur at the same time for both the data and log files.
This is probably as this is the best they can do. Checking that the logical drives are actually two different physical disks is little out of scope from what you can do in SQL Server.
It is also worth pointing that the rule specifically refers to spinning disks. SSD disks do not have this problem.

  • Where to keep the java class file which is being used from a form?

    Hi,
Actually I am developing a form which has a bean area and the data will be displayed in the bean area in the form of grid. And I will register this form with apps and will run the from Oracle apps. I want to know that there is a java class file that is being refered by the form, where should this java class file be placed and is there any other places where any changes are required so that the form runs correctly from the Oracle apps and can find the java class file.
I am very thankful to each and everyone who will be able answer this question of my.

do you mean decompiling? there are tons of java decompilers available out there, what exactly are you trying to do here?

  • Anyone know where IPHOTO keeps the faces names

I used IPHOTO faces so I could print sets of photographs by person - to send out to those who did not have a copy.
These are scanned in pictures - which include people it took awhile to match up.
As you cannot print the pictures with the legend of who everyone is - wondering if anyone has figured out where the database is.
Guess it would be person, picture ID, Location on screen - and if there is a way to get to it.

As you cannot print the pictures with the legend of who everyone is
You can print the photos in Contact Sheet view with a legend.
If you open each faces stack and assign a keyword with the name of the person to the faces in the stack, you then can print the keyword below each face.

  • Where to keep the samples?

I have run out of room on my primary hard drive and want to move my samples to a second hard drive. What do I have to do to make Logic find the samples in the new location?

    Hi Michael,
David and Jim have given you pretty much what you need to know, so I'm going to suggest something else....
You mentioned that your hard drive has "run out of room." This is a very bad situation to be in. Hard drives need at least 15% free space to run smoothly. I keep mine about 20% free at the very least. If your drive is too full it can lead to all sorts of horrible problems, ultimately ending up in complete drive failure.
I am only sharing this with you just in case you didn't know and I hope that this helps you in some way.
    Good luck!

  • Where to keep the jar files

I have some common classes that I want use across the SWCV/namespaces/Mappings. What is the best place to import.
    1. In Imported archives of  each name space for each swcv
    2.  Create a shared name space in each SWCV and place in this swcv under imported archives.
    3. Create a separate SWCV/name space place it under this and create a dependency in the SLD.
    Please advice.
    Monika

    Hi Raja,
Imported Object RFC / IDOC would be common to all namespaces of a particular SWCV.
However each namespace wud have "imported Archives" which independent of the namespace
hope that cannnot be shared commonly across the namesapces

  • Where to keep the Resource files in Jdeveloper ADF Applicatoin

    Hi
our ADF application required set of XML file, i created a Folder called Resources and kept them under it.
    DataModel
    --------------> Application Sources
    ------------------------------->Packages
    ------------------------------------------------>java Classes
    --------------> Resources
    -------------------------------> XML files
i am trying to access the XML file from Java Classes.
for Testing perpose i created sample java class, and access the XML file like "Resources/XMLFile.xml", it was working file.
So i refered the XML file path as "Resource/XMLFile.xml" in my classes and created datacontrol and placed them into jspx file. i ran the jspx file but i am getting file not found Exception.
please suggest me how to deplay to XML file along with my application
    Thanks

    knidhi
Please state your Jdeveloper version when you post. It can make a difference.
What are the XML files? I assume they are not the XML files that the entity, view object etc are, but external XML files that you use for what? You need to read them for what purpose?
This is a design decision, but perhaps they should instead be moved into the database, and you create an entity object that references that data, then use the entity as you would any normal entity.
Otherwise, have you tried putting the XML files in the same package as the java classes, and does that work?

  • Where to keep the html files in the server??

    Hi,
I am very new to this field. I have installed iplanet webserver enterprise edition 6.0. I managed to turn on the webserver.
But, now I am not able to access the home page of my webserver. I am getting the following error messages in the error log.
[16/Nov/2003:19:13:19] config ( 2430): for host 141.12.36.208 trying to GET /first.htm, func_exec reports: cannot find function named NSServletNameTrans

I do not know what these mean. But, I understant that there is some proble with the configuration. Can someone kindly help me!!!!
    Thanking you,
    Murthy.

    Hi Murthy,
There is a line in your obj.conf that you need to remove:
    NameTrans fn="NSServletNameTrans" name="servlet"
If you remove this line your server will work fine.
The other thing is that if you are not using java stuff in your web pages go to web admin for the server and uncheckthe two Java enabled for the web site.
    I hope that helps,
    Krishna

say for some reason, i need 4 patches(which are related to the same problem) ....and i downloaded it from support.bea.com site ...and then ......what is the best practice to place them....where ??
We have been keeping the 4 patches(or all of them) at CLASSPATH level....but i don't know if it could be a issue for HOT DEPLOYMENT or not ....OR some other issues ?
please let me know what is the BEST practice and other practices of keeping these patches ????
    thanks alot.
    -sangita

I put patches on the knees of my denim overalls. I also like to wear a straw hat and carry around a pitchfork. It makes me look like a hick, but people better respect me or I will spear them with my pitchfork!
