Where to learn in-depth info about macs?

Hey everyone. I'm not only new to the Apple support community but also I'm new to macbooks in general. I'm having a difficult time wording this question correctly as I don't want to confuse anyone.
I care to learn more than the basic functions of a mac. I want to learn the in and outs and everything in between. If someone could help guide me in the right direction, that would be fantastic.
I realize this isn't much of a technical issue but I felt that if anyone could direct me, it would be someone from here.

Might not be in depth but will give you a basic idea on Macs.

  • Where can I get more info about Director and Projectors?

I would like to learn how to create interactivity within my animations-like menus and such.
    a)where can I buy Director
    b)where can I re-learn it after 10 years?
    Thanks

you can buy new online in the Adobe store or try to find a usefull version like MX2004 or 11.5 on ebay or similar recources.
if you can get an upgradeable version at a cheap recource it will be better to upgrade to 11.5 as to buy  the full version 11.5.
See eligeble versions in the Adobe online store.
    best

  • Info About Mac OS X Needed

My understanding is that OS X is a 64-bit program. Right? If so, then does it run 32-bit programs in an emulation mode as does 64-bit Windows. What 64-bit programs are available for OS X? I know that the iLife programs that will come with Snow Leopard will be 64-bit.

The first understanding is that 64-bit Windows doesn't use "emulation" to run 32-bit code. The Intel and AMD 64-bit processors are full x86 (32-bit) processors, with 64-bit bolted on. Windows x64 is a 64-bit OS. When Windows x64 wants to run a 32-bit app, it simply sets up a 32-bit environment and shoves the 32-bit app into the x86 part of the CPU. The app runs, at native hardware speed, as if it was running on a regular 32-bit processor of the same speed.
That said, OS X 10.5 "basically" works in reverse. OS X 10.5 runs as 32-bit, but when an app wants to run as x64 (64-bit) OS X has a 64-bit framework set up in the x64 space and throws the 64-bit app in it. This is of course a very primitive explanation, and is just meant to give a general idea of what's going on. Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) will be much more 64-bit.

  • About Mac Messanger 8.0?, I Did Not Know Where To Put This Thread?

I Know Everyone Here Hates Microsoft, But I Had a Question I Like to Ask Everyone About Mac Messanger 8.0, I Wanted To Know When Will It Be Available To Use Completely?
Right Now It's in Beta, & i'm Sure Maybe Some Apple Fan's Must Use Mac Messanger Sometimes? The Reason Why I'm Asking This is Cause The Mac Messanger 8.0 Has Got Webcam & Voice Sound, You can Talk to Someone in Webcam Using Your Voice & I Am Interested in That Cause I Used MSN Messanger when i had a PC Computer & I Used Webcam & Voice a Lot on MSN Messanger on The PC Computer. Maybe Someone Can Help Me Out About This?

  • Where can I get current info on SysAdmin Certification(s) for Mac OSX SL and Lion?

Where can I get current info on SysAdmin Certification(s) for Mac OSX SL and Lion? The Apple website for this is "under construction" for weeks now...
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

Certification test for OS X 10.7 Lion are not available yet. I assume they will be nearly identical to the test of 10.5 and 10.6. Hopefully, the reason the certification website has been down for a while is that they are updating it with the new information. Though I really wouldn't expect any 10.7 certification test to be available for 2-4 months. Peachpit Press didn't publish their training material for 10.6 until October even though 10.6 was released in August.
As far as the 10.6 Certifications:
Certified Support Professional, 10.6 requires the 9L0-403 exam.
Certified Technical Coordinator, 10.6 requires the 9L0-403 as well as the 9L0-510 (Server Essentials) exams.
The information for the Certified System Administrator, 10.6 is "hidden" on the integral7 website but according to this Wikipedia entry, you need to pass the 9L0-510 Server Essentials exam as well as these three:
    Directory Services
    Deployment
    Security and Mobility

  • Expanding iTunes fields to handle more info about each CD (Mac & PC)

The LP and CD covers often hold a lot of important info about the album, music and artist, producer, history. With the use of physical album covers on the decline as we use iTunes/mp3s more and more, a lot of liner notes and credits are no longer with our music. iTunes doesn't even have a field for Producer or engineer! But what about cover art or room for the players on the records, etc. (can you tell I used to work at record companies?
I think iTunes needs to be redesigned to take the place of a CD jewel box so we can get much if not all of the info on the digital album. Even a tab for additional artwork as some CDs have not just front cover art but also back cover or what about the box set where there's the boxset art but each CD has it's own CD cover art. Currently I just use the art from the CDs but then lose the art from the outer box, which I would like to be able to include in the future.
The current Comments fields is WAY too small I'm thinking you could as a tab that would be fore the entire record like the size of lyrics so you could put all the players, liner notes, quotes, etc. in an unstructured way and be able to see most of the data without having to scroll so much.

You can associate a PDF with an album and put as much or as little information in it as you want. Some album downloads come with digital booklets which may, but often don't, replicate all the information from the original packaging.
You can also embed additional artwork images in a files tag. Files with multiple images develop two triangles at the top of the artwork box to let you switch between the available images.
While I agree the artificial limit of 255 characters for Comments in iTunes is annoying if you put any such information into the Lyrics field there is the bonus that it can actually be viewed from your devices.

  • I can't find where to export info about tracks that I recorded

I have done it before but now I don't find it. I can still do it can't I?

what I'm after is the info about the various tracks, what you get when you put an existing cd in your player and it opens with all titles and stuff in iTunes. I used to export that info when making cd's before, but can't find it now.
    Beche,
That functionality has moved.  It used to be under the Advanced menu, which no longer exists.
In iTunes 11, here is the procedure:  Insert the CD and use Get Info edit all track info to be correct. Then, with the CD still present, use the command Submit CD Track Names.
This sends the information to the Gracenote database, where it will be accessible to any iTunes user in the world.
The command Submit CD Track Names is under the Options menu, as pictured.

I have just purchased a Mac Book Pro. I would like to find the list of all updates and downloads that have occurred since purchase. Where can I find that info?

  • Gettin info about Flash file's data rate (and more) on Mac

In Quicktime one can get all sorts of info like frame rate,
data rate, codecs and more, but flah players don't do this. Right?
I see there is special software for this for a PC, but what about
Mac? Is there any way to get this info for files I didn't make
    myself.

I am referring to video files that I am making out of .mov
files. I am trying to find best cmpression options, but to do that
it would be nice to study others' files.

  • Where to find info about JNDI and Glassfish 3.1.2?

    Hello,
i am searching already long time to find information on how to find e.g. an EntityManagerFactory using JNDI and an Glassfish server.
Can anybody point me to some useable documentation? The GF admin and developer and deployment guide as well as the reference
does not provide a lot of information. They write about general JNDI topics, how to configure data sources, that JNDI can be used to
lookup resources and the like, on other places people write about, hey, lookup the EntityManagerFactory for your persistence unit
(persistence.xml), but i am not able to find what JNDI names i can lookup and where and how i can find out what JNDI names are
available in my server at all.
    Thanks for any hint,
    Chris

    Hello
Maybe it sounds stupid now but what kind of info do you need exactly?
When you need BIOS update you can visit BIOS download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_bios.jsp
For drivers Toshiba drivers download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
When you need Users manuals document you can download it from - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_manuals.jsp
General info about this machine you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/unitdetails/
    Thats all you can find.
I have old P200 and it is the same machine as your A200 just bigger with 17 display. In BIOS under advanced BIOS options there is SATA controller mode option and two options: AHCI and Compatibility mode.
It should be used with AHCI mode and then you will have full HDD performance. Many people use compatibility mode to install old WXP without loading SATA driver.
Can you please tell us what kind of info do you need and what do you want to do with this machine.
I really hope we can help you somehow.

  • Any new info about being able to sync my iphone 4 with the Palm Desktop on macs running snow leopard?

Any new info about being able to sync my iphone 4 with the Palm Desktop on macs running snow leopard? Why doesn't someone take a a few hours and write a workaround so I can sync all my info including my Palm notes to my iphone via Palm Desktop without putting it in the clouds or making it complicated?  : (

I feel your pain.  I am a long time user of Palm Desktop/Claris Organizer and have an iPhone that I really can't sync except by doing an export and import into iCal, etc.  You might try Missing Sync.  I have been working intermittently with writing a replacement for Palm Desktop, but I've only gotten as far as dumping out the information for everything (except repeating appointments) as an XML file.
