Where can I learn more about the Logic Environment?
I've been using LogicPro for a while now - since version 7 came out - and I'm ready to learn more about the mysterious Logic Environment. Anyone know of a good tutorial or website on this topic? I don't have a specific question - what I need is a general overview.
My sessions are primarily audio recording and mixing with a virtual instrument from time to time. I rarely use MIDI except to play the synths and instruments.
My environmental experience so far has been limited to creating and naming audio objects, accessing "hidden" faders and as an alternate to the mix views provided in the global and track mixers.
I'd prefer free advice but I'm not against paying if it's worth it. I have read the manual but I have a feeling that it will be more helpful once I have a better grasp on the big picture. It's a reference manual more than a how-to.
My MIDI devices are an Axiom-61 and PreSonus FaderPort.
Thanks,
John

If you look on the bottom right hand side of the page, you see a link for online seminars. You'll have to go through a regstration process, then you can watch 3 or 4 streaming Quicktime videos of people using different functions in Logic. There's nothing really in depth there, but it does show you a few useful shortcuts and methods. -

Where can we learn more about the next version of FB?
The Air 3.4 release notes say that a new version of Flash Builder, now in beta, will be released in August.
Is there any place where we can read about the new features and pricing?Rich text is a text format
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RichTextFormat
It allows for text formatting (like various fancy fonts, lists, links, colors etc). you can open TextEdit and play with it. Plain text allows for none of that. you can only type text and that's it.
Mail converts Rich Text to html when you send messages composed in Rich Text. as i said most mail clients should understand it but there may be some problems. I don't have much experience with other mail clients so can't say more. -
Learning more about the features in PS touch
I was looking at PS touch, maybe for my ipod mini.
I was hoping to get more of a sense of what the features are, but it seems Adobe has replaced information with hype, giving us the Disney version of what their programs are about.
I'd like to know more about the features of PS Touch, specifically:
I assume I can use layers, but do they have modes such as darken, lighten, overlay, soft light, etc?
Can I create masks in these layers, so I have control over which part of the layer is applied to the image?
Does the curves tool have more than 3 points to adjust, can you add points as with full PS?
If I was working off my camera's memory card hooked up to the iPod mini, can I then do a save as of the image I'm working on, either saving it to the card or my device (in part to create a new image and to also keep the original) ?
It's very frustrating that this information is not more readily available to us. also, I may have missed it, but i didn't see a link to the forums from the Adobe pages, not under Learning, or about Adobe, or?
Regards, DavidIn order:
Yes, PS Touch uses layer blending modes just like in Photoshop (and Photoshop Elements). It doesn't have *every* blending mode, but the basics (like the ones you listed) are there.
The best that I can explain it as far as "masks" in PS Touch goes is that you paint your desired effect onto your image (via the Effects Paint tool). You do not need a mask layer per se as the effect is contained as you paint over the desired area. (You can adjust size, hardness, flow and opacity of the brush in this tool. If you have a tablet with pressure-senstive support, you can control size and opacity as well dynamically like you would with a Wacom graphics tablet connected to a desktop.)
You can add/subtract as many points as you want in the Curves adjustment. (There's a general Curves adjustment and one provided under the Effects Paint tool; both use the same interface for options.)
I don't think so, as the file system in PS Touch is self-contained (at least under Android; not sure about iOS). When you go to save a project, it's added into the main interface. (You can create folders to manage these projects, btw.) You can then export projects under a desired file type (like PSD or JPEG) locally or to a service like Adobe's own Creative Cloud or Dropbox. -
Want to learn more about the command line for Mac OS X
Hi, I'm kind of new here...I've been using my MacBook since last summer, however I want to really get a feel of the command line and would like some recommendations on how to learn more about it.
Looks like it is based off of BSD, and I've been using Linux for about 10 years now and also have a CompTIA Linux+ cert, however some of the commands aren't the same.
So, if anyone can post some websites/recommendations that would be great.
thanksBuy any one or more of the many books available at Amazon.com about Unix under OS X. Linux and Unix are related but not the same. Even FreeBSD Unix is not the same as what's implemented under the OS X hood.
And you will find other good books at PeachPit.com.
There also is a separate Unix forum here. -

Some questions for class project? Trying to learn more about the iPhone
Hey guys, I am looking for some quick feedback on the iPhone and possibly the iPad for a class assignment. If anyone could share information on the following questions that would be fantastic. Thanks!
1. What are some of the disadvantages of Apple not providing Flash/USB for its products(iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch)?
2. Why should customers buy an iPad (no USB) rather than the Kindle (USB ports)?
3. Why do you think Apple doesn't provide Flash/USB ports to its products (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch)?
4. Would the lack of USB/Flash in Apple products affect your decisions to purchase Apple products versus a competitor's product?
5. Do you expect that Apple will begin to incorporate technologies such as USB/Flash in the future as competitor products begin to steal market share?
6. Apple views Flash as a dying technology. Steve jobs has even compared not supporting Flash on the iPad to Apple dropping support for floppy drives. Do you believe there is any value to this analogy and why?
7. What do you think could be some good aspects of no USB on the iPad?
8. What affect will the implementation of HTML5 have on the issues with iPad's lacking Flash capabilities?
9. How did you gain an interest in Apple how would you rate that product and would it it recieve a higher rating if it provided USB/Flash?
10. Would you be more interested in purchasing a Apple product if USB use was provided? Or would this quality not have any affect on your decision to purchase the product? This sounds more like a marketing survey...

I would like to learn more about using the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.
I would like to learn more about using the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. I really don't know much about it nor do I know anyone who uses it yet. Is it specifically for creating apps for tablets? What about smart phones? We sometimes produce PDF publications that are posted to our website. Can DPS be used to produce more interactive online publications? What is a .folio application? What platforms are .folio apps used on?
DPS currently supports iPads, iPhones, and Large and XLarge Android devices. You can start here to get basic information and watch a few videos:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS67cb9e293e2f1f60174dc2eb12f2ca67c28-80 00.html
If you have an iPad or other mobile device, you can download and play with any of these apps created with DPS tools:

My story about the Blackberry 9320
My story about the Blackberry 9320....
I have asked question's about buying a Blackberry for my Mom/Me for personal use from a few people and all very knowable in the IT world, and from one i know who uses a Blackberry as well manage there enterprise. All said it's too much phone to buy for you Mom.....
But as it would have it Mom really needed a new phone and when i saw the 9320 on sale i ask her to have a look at the phone and let me know what you think of it. She did... and just loved phone...the feel..the size..key board..even the white colour.
So the following day i went and bought the white 9320 for her, and really thought i had a challenge on my hands to teach a 76 year old to use the phone. Boy was i and every one i talked wrong about the 9320 being too much phone for her to use.
First off she was very happy to get this Blackberry, and secondly the setup was as easy as easy can get. We logged in to Virgin Account setting applied the new information and with in 5 minis it was updated and live.
Then came the part to show her how to text and use the phone, and in less then an 30 minutes she had the basics and was texting and calling with easy. I wanted to show her more about the use of what it can do and was told, no i want to figure it out myself so i can learn and remember. But Mom's it's a lot of phone and if you get frustrated you may not be too happy. And the answer i got was that's ok i can figure thing's out on my own, and that way i can learn.
With in a few days my 76 year old Mom figured out own her how to do just about anything wanted to do with the 9320, contact's, calendar, texting, bed side clock, tasks, making appointment's attaching photo's to texting, using the documents to go and more all on her.
I was so impressed by how easy and comfortable she felt with the phone i went and bought one for myself.
We both have had a phone before Christmas and tho it was a learning Curve (lol no pun in tended) in the being we both feel very comfortable use it.
This is a great little phone and thought i would sharing this story from these two very happy user's.
Rainsie and MomHello Rainsie
So nice to hear that you mom is enjoying here new BlackBerry® Curve 9320, And thanks for sharing your story , Give my regards to your Mom.
