• Have a Zen Micro (6GB) - Lost Software CD and Firmware update confuses me. Please he

I bought my Zen Micro about 7 months ago and have been using it fine until recently formatted my computer and realized I've lost my software cd (the one that comes with the player).
I tried downloading the Creative MediaSource Organizer/Player (version 3.30.2) and updating the firmware (thereby loosing all the songs I had saved in there. Ugh.) in my Zen Player and in the beginning MediaSource still wouldn't pick up my Creative Player. Then, I don't know why, it now works...but it works like a normal External HardDri've or a PenDi've would! It not longer has that menu thing (where there's a list of artist and albums) at the left side but simply folders under the Creative Player.
Does anyone know where I can get the old firmware and download the required software? I greatly prefer the way my player worked before I updated the firmware/software and I would like to just have that back even if it doesn't have as much features or whatever came with the upgrade. (iTunes or something. Has no idea what that is.)
Also, does Creative have a Service Center in Malaysia (specifically Kuala Lumpur) and can anyone tell me where it is or give me the phone number to call? I'm still under my warranty but this site doesn't list a number to call although they say they give Telephone Support until the warranty expires.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Cherish
Edit: BTW, I have tried emailing Customer Support but so far, no reply, and that was...2 weeks ago, I think? And, like I said, the Customer Support section in this site doesn't list any numbers/Service Centers which is why I'm asking...Message Edited by cherish90 on 02-06-200705:25 PM
Edit the second: Does anyone know if the confirmation email that Creative is supposed to send to your account after you send them an email isn't working? Because I just double checked my inbox and I realized I never got any confirmation letter. And I'm very sure I didn't accidentally delete it.Message Edited by cherish90 on 02-06-200707:38 PM

LOL. I've sent in my player. FINALLY found the Service Center (for those in KL who want to know, it's in Berjaya Amoda, behind Low Yat and opposite Times Square) after asking the shop I bought the player from.
And the guy who I talked to called their HQ or whatever and said that neither of the messages I sent (I sent 2; one shortly after I started this thread) were recorded/received on their end although I DID get the "Your message has been sent" page after clicking on the 'submit' button. And yeah, I used this email too. *confused* Maybe Creative doesn't work with Mozilla Firefox (the browser I'm using)? I think that's kind of lame, though, because FireFox is like practically as big as EI now and it's more user-friendly (the tabs are uber cool IMHO). Unless Creative has some sort of problem with Mozilla...
*cough*
ANYWAY...
Yeah, I did download the PlayForSure plugin (although I have no idea what it's for) and MediaSource STILL picked up my Micro as something like a pendri've.
Never mind, though. The guy I talked to - never got his name... - said that once you've upgraded the firmware to the latest (which is the one that needs all these weird plugins and makes the device an MTP [I THINK that's what it's called] device) you can't change the firmware back to the old one unless they send it in. So I'm sending it in. And I think they'll replace the software CD for me too, so that's all good.
Thanks anyway, Jason.

• Where to Buy Zen Micro and get all the goodi

Hi everyone. I have a MuVoN200 and I love it to death, but I am ready to move on to something bigger. I have had no problems with Creative and I would like to get a Zen Micro.
I've been reading on the internet how some people get different things in their box! Some have a belt clip/stand thing and some don't. I would, of course, like to get the most acessories for my money, so where should I buy mine to get all of the acessories?
I'm considering Target since I have a Target card . . . but Walmart is having a sale on them right now. I saw them in Best Buy, but the box was pretty small, not the tall one. Any input would be appreciated!!

I just received my Zen Micro from bhphotovideo.com for $70 with all the extras (charger, stand):
http://tinyurl.com/8qcro
However, it came in a box (rumored to be old, prone to headphone jack problem), not plastic packaging. And the firmware installed was only .0.03. This also makes me feel it might not be the newest model with the rumored fix for the headphone jack problem, even though it's from a high-volume reseller. For me, I'll just pay $40 for the extra warranty to balance my risk. Maybe ask Creative where you can buy a newer, headphone-jack-secure Micro with all the trimmings?

• My Ipod needs hardware repair, but don't have proof-of-purchase

Hi guys, I'm new over here. I don't know if I'm even posting in the right place, or if these forums are here for this kinds of questions. Sorry If I'm using them the wrong way...
The thing is that I'm having some troubles with my Ipod Touch. I first realized that there was something wrong with it when I tried plugging to a car adapter. It kind of sounded over the radio, but with very low volume, lots of noise, and without announcing that it was charging.
Then, I went to my computer, plugged it in, and notice that it wasn't getting any charge neither, nor wasn't being recognized by Itunes nor the typical USB discovery. Then I went to my nearest Apple Store and the guy told me that he needed a proof-of-purchase receipt to validate the warranty and repair the Ipod, and that if I didn't have one, I'd have to pay for the repair, and that for what it looks, I'm better off buying a new Ipod.
The thing is that my mom bought my Ipod last November, in the Lenox Square Apple Store in Atlanta, and she then came to Venezuela and lost the receipt (maybe she forgot she needed it, or nobody told her about the warranty so she threw it away).
My question is this basically: what can I do? I've thought of contacting the Lenox Square Store (preferable via email) to explain them what happened, so that maybe they could help me get something that would work as a proof-of-purchase, but there're no email addresses easily visible and I don't wanna waste a Long distance call just to get bummed out.
What do you guys suggest?
Thanks in advance, I'll appreciate every kind of help you could give; even if it's just "Dude, you're screwed."

I did! And according to the link you gave, it says that my Ipod is Registered, Expired for Telephone Technical Support, and Active for Repairs and Service Coverage, with an estimated expiration date of November 26, 2010, which seems about right--that's the week my mom came back from her trip!
So I'm a little bit more hopeful now, but still a little worrisome: the guy at the Apple Store checked the Serial Number using the bar code beneath the Ipod Box and said, "I need proof-of-purchase 'cause according to the system, this Ipod left a Store on May 2009, so it's ALMOST out of warranty, and Apple will require them that I give them a copy of the receipt."
Still. I'm thinking of printing that screenshot and showing it to him.
Thanks a lot luvlabs!

• Lost proof of purchase

I was recently able to get some good advice from the community about getting the serial number for my iPad that was stolen and I'm hoping you guys can help me again!
So I've managed to get the serial number and submit the claim to my insurers, however they now want me to submit Proof of Purchase.....surprise surprise - I can't find it!! No email copy or hard copy.
I've seen on a few of the discussions that you can contact the store you purchased it from and they can help retrieve this....is this actually true and would they reissue the proof of purchase??
Ideally I'd like to know for sure before I contact them as I live in the UK but purchased the device in Hawaii so it's going to be a **** of an expensive phonecall if there isn't anything they can do!!!
Any advice you have would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks

• Where are my Zen Micro accessori

Hello, I just bought a black 5gb ZM yest and was a little confused in regards to the packaging. Let me start off by saying that I went to GoodGuys first to try and purchase it, but they wouldn't match the price ($89) that I printed from a Circuit City online ad. But before I left, I saw the packaging which was a huge box compared to the one I eventually bought. Was the huge box the limited edition that I've read about on these forums, that included the belt clip and stand, extra batt, etc? I'm just a little concerned about the newness of my unit, since I don't want to run into the headphone jack problem the older units are having. I've read here that the limited or special edition packages are considered the older units. True? BTW, my box was considerably smaller and only contained the unit, headphones, USB cable, pouch and software. I'm sorry but I'm new to the MP3 player world. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

$79? Wow! Nice deal. I was glad that my local Circuit City was able to match that online special. I almost bought an Ipod if no one were to match the deal. However I'm glad I went the ZM route.
I suspect that the huge box was the special or limited version. Just wanted to confirm.

• Zen micro connection problem. please he

Hey all,
So my 5gb zen micro had the headphone jack problem and i sent it back for replacement. I've just got it back today and tried to load songs into it but my zen micro could not be detected by the computer. My previous zen micro was version .0.03 (purchased in december 2004). my new zen micro is version ..0.
please help, thanks!

what error message to you get, does the micro think its detected, is it charging and all that. that firmware will let the computer detect the player in the same way as your old one.
have u looked in device manager to see if its a problem device?
basic suggestion try to work out where the problem lies, test it on another usb cable, another usb port another computer. try and find out where the problem lies, then its easier to help.
regards olly

• Zen Micro Music Download Conundrum - Really Frustrated Help Nee

Man am I frustrated - really frustrated. Here is my conundrum:
I have a Zen Micro. I want to purchase music online. It is a frikin' maze of problem solving. I download from iTunes, they have some sort of proprietary format that my Zen won't play. Okay - no problem. I go to Yahoo music. You have to pay to subscribe and then download. They are wma anyway. Napster is wma as well. Walmart music is wma too. I would try Rhapsody, but I think you have to pay to subscribe and download as well. It just occurred to me - Sony has a music download site as well? I will check them next. I tried converting the Napster wma into an MP3 but I got a message the Creative software cannot convert the file. Arghhhhh.
So - what is the easy way? Is there a site I can pay and download mp3 music files and transfer them to my Zen Micro? Or is there a freeware converter to convert wma files into mp3 files - that is if the downloaded files do not have a voodoo whammy curse on them that prevents them from being converted.
Might "Play for Sure" fix this? As far as I can tell this is for subcription services, not for single downloads.
Thanks for any help.

I'm no expert, but I think Etomi would work for you. I've been downloading music from them for a while now, and while I haven't had an MP3 player to try and download the music to, I know that at the very least, music I got from Etomi is on my hard dri've, and I can burn CDs with those songs.
I also know there is some type of way to convert MP3 to WMA and vice versa although I've never done it.
just google "WMA to MP3" and you should find some sites...

• Zen Micro: Where do these small clips g

Hello,
I opened my Zen Micro yesterday to repair the famous headphone jack trouble with the link to the instructions I found on this board. BTW, I want to thank Mercx for this, everything went smootly and I was able to secure all solder points that needed to be. Now the unit is well and works as it was supposed to.
However, when removing the metal unit from the plastic casing, 2 very small metal clips fell off the casing. I've checked everywhere, i can't find where do these come from. Can anybody help ?
ThanksMessage Edited by CanadaMusicFan on 08-04-2006 06:39 AM

Thanks catawompus for your reply. However, I can't seem to find either where they came from nor how to replace them. Are there any explanations or pics about this somwhere ?
Thanks

• Where can I purchase a headphone jack for a Zen Micro?

I need to know where I can purchase a headphone jack for a Zen Micro. The insides of mine fell out along with the usual problem of the solder points breaking loose. Zen wants $90 to repair it... I think not! Zen says they can't sell any parts...what a surprise!!!

To be fair, I finally got a response that makes sense. probably not worth the $$ they would charge but at least it was clear and to the point.
"I understand that you are experiencing problems with the headphone jack of your MP3 player. Unfortunately we are unable to sell the board. In order to get the player repaired it would have to be sent in for an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization).
Since you are beyond the time period for email support you would have tocontact us by phone at 405-742-6622. Also since your warranty has expired you will be prompted to pay for a Creative Tutor Session for $2.99. This fee is to speak with a phone representati've. The advisor will be able to set up the RMA so that your player can be sent in for repairs."
So there is a way to get it repaired. but not to order the part. It should have not taken 0 (total) emails to get a clear explaination but, at least I got one, don't like it, but got one...

• Where do i send my zen micro to get fi

hi,
a few days ago my zen micro got wet(realy wet) and now stops at the first creative screen and only goes that far when pluged into the computer well anyway does any one know where i can send it to get fixed?
if you do it would be a big help.

You need to RMA your product. Contact costumer support and they will tell you how to start the process. You can also do a search on the forums I have seen other posts asking how to RMA a product (in other words, it means sending it back to the Labs and having it fixed, then shipped back to you). Good luck!

• Where can I find older firmware for my Zen Micro? (Also, firmware install troubl

I recently got a Zen Micro for free. It had several problems, most of which I've fixed, or can not fix until I solve this one:
Every time I start up, it gives me an "Overheating, Shutting Down" error. It's not overheating (I drenched the circuitry in circuit-freezer), and the one thermostat chip I could find is working normally. Any clue where others are? CPU, perhaps? (The problem does not occur when hooked up to the USB)
I read something about firmwares .02 and later having an overheat shut-down program integrated into them. So before I give up on this thing, I would like to try firmware .0 or lower.
Of course, the Zen being out for 4+ years, such old firmware is hard to find.
You guys, being Creative people, should know where I could find some. If any of you have any on your computer, could you send it to me?
Also, I tried to install firmware .02.05, but when I load it, the program gives me an error telling me to update my jukebox drivers to the latest version, of which they are. The latest . and P4S firmwares load fine onto the Zen. Help?

MTP is microsoft's media transfer protocol. Essentially, your micro can now connect to WinXP SP2 computers with WMP0 without loading Creative drivers.
The new firmware you installed allows you to drag and drop files to your micro using windows explorer. In order to use any of Creative's software, you'll need to download and install updated versions from their website.
