Where to send Apple Mail suggestions & new ideas.

Hi, I have one fast Question.
Does anyone knows an email from somebody at Apple that I can write some suggestions for the Apple Mail application?
I have been using this app for the past four years and I think it REALLY!!! needs some easy add-ons and fixes to make it better.
I really appreciate the help.

  • How to resolve inability to send Apple Mail to new ISP server from work.

Switched to Insight Broadband over the weekend. Now at work, I can receive email but not send it. The error message is authentication required, yet Insight specifically does not require any authentication on its outgoing server and I set up the account in Mail to require password authentication for incoming. Have read similar topics and neither Insight nor my employer blocks port 25. Insight's lame web support gives instructions in Entourage to override the receiving port to 995, requiring SSL, which Mail seems to have picked up on automatically. However, the same Entourage instructions advise to override the default sending SMTP port to 465 and require SSL. How does one override the default sending SMTP port in Mail (from 25, I presume) to 465 and require SSL? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your kind assistance. It apparently requires more configuration work to use cable broadband than dsl broadband. I had discovered your path (sorry not to have said so), but the error message led me to both override the port AND to port to use password authentication, even though the basic account setup if connected directly to the Insight modem or peripherally to it through routers or switches or using Insight's broadband servers for your workplace specifically advises to use NO authentication on the outbound server. Finally, once the Insight tech and I stumbled on the Proxies setting "Manual" in Network and UNCHECKED "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV), all has seemed to be settling down, although it seems that I am also having to change the address of the outgoing mail server to reflect password authentication as well. Stay tuned.

  • Not able to forward/reply mails in Apple Mail but new mail is going out

I am using Apple Mail program for my mails, for last 3-4 days I am not able to forward or reply a mail but i am able to send if i compose a new email

Triple check the Outgoing Mail server info that you entered in your Mail account. If that area says the info is optional enter the outgoing mail server and your password anyway. Also if you have more than one email account check the server that is selected for the GoDaddy account and make sure it's the correct server for the account.

  • Apple mail check new messages manually

I've put Mail to check for new messages manually in the preferences, and it still checks automatically. Using Apple Mail 7.3, on OS 10.9.4, with a gmail account.
Thanks for any suggestions on how to fix.

IMAP account? Some have push features. Go to the Gmail web site and see if you can find a way to disable it there.

  • Where are my "Apple Mail To Do" Folders on my Mac

    Hello,
So - I've recently acquired a new MBP w/Leopard... having had setup a smart folder in mail on my old MBP, I had created a place that I could move mail messages viewed on the road on my iPhone (the Apple Mail To Do) folders - so that when I got home I had all the messages that I wanted to sit down with and view easily again at a later date on my Mac. Since the new MBP - mail seems to not incorporate the "Apple Mail To Do" folders on my mac now. But, when I go to the individual email sites that I sync through my computer & phone - they do show up there! i.e. - Gmail, .me & an Exchange account, all have the "Apple Mail To Do" folder. Better yet - when I try to create a new mail folder on my mac with the name "Apple Mail To Do", it tells me that I can't create them, because they already exist! I've looked everywhere that I could think to find them, but to no avail.
    My question is:
How can I get the "Apple Mail To Do" folders to physically show up in mail on my Mac now?

I'm not sure I understand correctly, but "To Do" as a name has a specific purpose in Mac OS X Mail and is a reserved name, so if you're trying to group mail messages on your iPhone for later review in Mail, you probably need to name the folder something different, such as "For Review".
    I hope that helps.

  • Can't send e-mail w/new POP settings...

    Hi, all,
I updated my POP & SMTP settings as demanded by Verizon and I now can't send e-mail from one of my subaccounts. I get the error message:
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:  5.7.1 Authentication is required to send mail as <r******[email protected]>.  Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again.
I don't use that e-mail address, which I guess is the "technical" address I got when I signed up. The address I'm trying to use is s******[email protected], and that's the e-mail address that is set up in the account on my e-mail program (Thunderbird). I never use the address the error message is referencing.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this most annoying problem?
    Thanks!

Without seeing your settings, it's going to be somewhat difficult to guess the problem. I would take another look at your SMTP (outgoing) settings, and verify that the server is set to authenticate with the correct username and password.

  • Problems with sending POP mail since new "Security Update"

Hi, I seem to be having problems sending mail from POP account - and it started after the latest Security Update that I recently downloaded. From memory it was 110Mb file.
My ISP and POP account service both say it is nothing to do with them.
    Any ideas?
This is on my MacBook Pro running 10.4.11

Hi, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Use Disk Utility to verify/Repair the HD, then Repair Permissions then reboot, if the problems persist try reinstalling the update...

  • In Apple Mail, my new messages are coming in without the blue dot, as if the messages have already been read.  Why?  Has my computer been compromised?

I did not use my laptop all day.  This evening, when I looked at my new e-mail from earlier today, only about 3 messages still had the blue dot, that shows on unread mail.  I watched new messages come in. One new one came in with the blue (unread) dot, then maybe when the next new message came in, the blue dot disappeared from the first message, but appeared on the new message.  The 2 subsequent e-mails came in without any blue dot.  I had not highlighted or opened any of those 4 new e-mails, or any of the previously delivered e-mails from today.  I cannot find anything in system preferences or in mail preferences that addresses this issue. Anyone know why this is happening?  Has my computer been breached or hacked?

Ok, so even thought no one has answered, it appears that once I move mail to the "On My Mac" mailboxes, they no longer exist on the server (though they can be moved back there if desired).  Which means that I'm fine if I migrate my hosting to a new server, and redownload them, because the mail in "On My Mac" will be untouched.  The only thing I don't know about is the "Sent" mail, but I believe those also exist on the server, and therefore if I migrate them then the link relationships are maintained (no idea about the mail that is "On My Mac" that has links to "Sent" mail in the server, but I guess that isn't so important).
As for keeping a completely syncronizable Mail application - the only way it appears I'd be able to do that is to forgo "On My Mac" entirely, and keep *all* mail on the server.  If I want to move mail into different folders, those folders would have to be Server folders created for that account, and hosted by that hosting company.  This actually doesn't seem like such a bad move, especially as we get further and further away from having only one device that we use to process Mail.
Are there any disadvantages to *not* using the local "On My Mac" folders?  Are there any major advantages to using them?

  • Tiny font on Menu Bar & on window when using Apple Mail on new Macbook Air

I have a new MacBook Air and all is good - except my Mail window has tiny fonts, including on the tool bar, and the Menu Bar is also has smaller fonts when Mail is active. I have made the actual messages readable but the rest of the screen is almost too small to read.

I just got my new MacBook Air and I was also really, really disappointed that the menu bar fonts - and all default text sizes in general - are much too small. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that the optimal resolution for the monitor is now 1440x900 instead of 1280x800 as it was in the older MacBook Air models. I guess I just have to go to the optician and get myself a pair of glasses...
But I think this is clearly a design -related problem that Apple should fix asap!

  • Cannot send E-Mail with new BT Mail ...

I have just been converted to BT Mail and have had various problems, most of which
seem to be related to having to link my E-Mail address to a My BT ID.
I can now use the BT Mail webmail application but only to read e-mails.
As soon as I attempt to reply or forward an e-mail I get a small dialog box pop up
saying "connection lost". This is *NOT* true, I still have an active internet connection.
I seem to get dropped out of the wemail application but I still have internet access
and if I click on the mail icon on the main BT page I get straight back into webmail.
This is my main e-mail address and this was the one I had greatest problems with
when trying to link to a BT ID. It almost looks as if the link between the email and
the BT ID is not setup correctly and I can only use BT Mail in what appears to read-only
    mode.
Has anyone else seen this yet and what steps can I take to resolve it ?
    Thank you.

  • Help required in sending automated mails to hr-coordinator

    Dear Friends,
I have a requirement where to send the mails to HR co-ordinator via r3-program
suggestions are appreciated, Help me in this regard.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    nallani.

    Hi Nallani,
Write a <Zprogram>, use your own logic in the program to send mails.
Example: Suppose mails should be generated to the respective administrators when a employee is hired.
clue - once IT 0001 is saved you should generate a mails.
Solution: My logic is, check Personnel area & Personnel sub-area, based  on this in IT 0001 - pick up respective Administrator for that employee, and run the program to send mails.
for this you need to maintain Dynamic actions for IT 0001, there you need to  maintain your <Zprogram>, while change/create of IT 0001, <Zprogram> should be executed
[Insure the respective administrators maintained with their e-mail id addresses]
Hope you got an idea how to make a show for your query?
    Cheers,
    TG

  • How to set default email account in Apple Mail for Yosemite?

For some reason, after my upgrade to Yosemite my default accounts are no longer selected as default. I am now sending from an account I only receive email to, and have to change it with every single email I compose. Mavericks didn't do this.
Has anyone had a similar situation with multiple email accounts in Apple Mail? Any idea on how to force a default?

  • Problems with Apple Mail retrieval from EarthLink

I just bought a new computer (MacBook Pro 10.8.2 Mountain Lion) and when trying to set up Apple Mail v.6.2 I have a problem. It won't connect properly with my ISP email (EarthLink). I am unable to retrieve any POP mail on Apple Mail. It keeps saying "Logging in to the Earthlink POP server "pop.earthlink.net" failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct....." However, I am able to send mail via Apple Mail because the outgoing mail server (smtpauth.earthlink.net) does work. It's strange because it's the same user and password. So I can send but not retrieve using Apple Mail.
I also have Thunderbird, which I don't really like, and its POP setup both sends and retrieves from EarthLink without a problem. Plus I can always go to the EarthLink website if necessary. So this is not critical, but I prefer Apple Mail.
    Any ideas?
(I'm also going to contact EarthLink to see if they can help.)

I'm having this difficulty with my shared host provider as well.  hostpapa.ca keeps telling me to 'check my account settings.'  This is not difficult to do and the error code I keep getting tells me that there's a problem connecting to the mail server.
While I argue with them, is it possible that there is a problem from within Apple Mail or with my wifi?  Mail works well when I'm not on my home network - at the office, on 3G, if I use webmail, if I connect directly to my DSL modem.  I tried to delete the account and add it in again - but it just won't connect when on wifi.
I'm wondering if there's anyone who has an answer to this...?
